I also need ds info as well, but it all boils down to calculating the following: A trip of sand costs= ? cost of conveying it to ur house=? A bag of cement costs=? if a mixture of ten head pan of sand and a bag of cement prodces 40 blocks. how many head pan of sand can we get out of a trip of sand. the daily pay to d brick layer cost=? Then buying from outside should be analysed thus: 40 blocks cost=? cost of conveying it to ur house=? These should give us d insight to d cheaper one. |

LAGOS —LEADING cement manufacturer, Dangote Cement Plc, weekend, announced drastic reduction of the prices of its cement. The new price regime announced by the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, GMD/ CEO, of Dangote Cement, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, pegged the Dangote 32.5 cement grade at N1,000 per 50 kg bag, while the higher 42.5 grade would sell for N1,150 per bag. A statement by the company at the end of a management meeting said, however, that the new prices were exclusive of the Value Added Tax, VAT, representing about 40 per cent discount on the prevailing market price of the product currently sold for N1,700 irrespective of the grade, across the country. Edwin said the move was in line with the company’s commitment to the nation’s dire need for the development of infrastructure and to boost the federal and state government’s ongoing effort to reduce the near 20 million housing deficit in Africa’s largest economy. He said, “we recognize the need for an increased rapid response to the huge infrastructure and housing deficit in the country, and one of the ways of addressing the issue is bringing the price of building materials down to much more affordable levels especially cement which is within our control as part of our contribution to the transformation agenda of the Goodluck Jonathan administration and the attainment of key milestones in the Millennium Development Goals, MDGs. “Since the commencement of the implementation of the backward integration policy for cement in the country over 12 years ago, the local production capacity of the product rose from less than three million metric tonnes per annum to about 38 million metric tonnes per annum. During the more than 12-year period of the backward integration policy, nearly $20 billion has been directly and indirectly injected into the Nigerian cement industry with Dangote Cement Plc accounting for 60 per cent of that spend.” The GMD/CEO added that Dangote Cement Plc would continue to ensure alignment of its corporate social responsibility with its strategic business initiatives and will continue to evaluate its pricing regime in Nigeria’s best interest. Meanwhile, the timing of the initiative has confounded industry watchers, who say that from experience, the cement market is on the verge of entering the accelerated demand phase as the raining season is tapering and the dry season which provides the opportunity for increased construction and building activities is setting in. |

Mr Patrick Sawyer who brought Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) to Nigeria, came to this country against the advice of Liberian health ministry though was later cleared my the Deputy Finance Minister, Sebastian Omar, who said he owe nobody apology for his action. It will be recalled that Mr Sawyer's sister died of Ebola before her brother (Patrick) started acting somehow, and defiled every advice and came to nigeria. The Lagos nurse also did not heed a similar advice not to travel out of Lagos. She Is believed to have infected about 21 people, though 15 of them have been discharged on the ground that they did not have any contact with the nurse. Though the nurse and her husband have been bundled back to Lagos, there are panics in Enugu over the news of many people who came in contact with her. President Jonathan described Mr Sawyer as pure "Madness and Craziness", "His country asked him not to leave their country, let them observe him, but the crazy man decided to leave and found his way here" said president Jonathan. Should this Lagos nurse be likened to Mr Patrick Sawyer? and what names should Enugu state Governor call her? |

In the world of foods, a lot of weirdos apply. It turned out that many foods that benefit the body are harmful to the teeth. Here’s a list of some of such foods… Milk: Nutritionists note that milk is a healthy source of calcium. Other top sources of this mineral are cheese, turnip greens, oranges, and broccoli; but milk not only has the most calcium, it’s also a great source of vitamin D, riboflavin, carotene, and retinol, among others. However, despite these numerous pluses, milk can wreak havoc on your teeth — that is if you take much milk while you are careless with oral hygiene! A dentist, Dr. Deola Olonilua, says the lactose (a form of sugar) in milk rots the teeth as much as frizzy drinks do. She warns that even though certain foods are healthy, the presence of certain elements or minerals in then can damage the teeth when the eater has prolonged exposure to such foods. She says, “Milk has a sugar in it called lactose. The lactose in milk can be especially dangerous for children if they have it just before bedtime. This is because the milk will still be on their teeth as they sleep, and the sugars are converted to acids by oral bacteria. The acids can coat the teeth and consequently eat away at the tooth enamel. That is one of the ways people develop cavities.” She advises that people should not hit the bed immediately after taking milk. Rather, she counsels, “You should rinse your mouth thoroughly after taking milk, or better still, brush your teeth as the last thing before bed. Lemon: Though lemon drinks have detoxifying and other benefits, it can affect your teeth in many ways than one. Lemon contains citric acid, which, dentists say, causes enamel erosion and other dental problems. The online portal, 1800dentist.com, states, “Drinking lemon juice can put you at risk for tooth erosion, a condition where the thin, protective layer of enamel slowly wears away from your teeth. Lemon juice contains acid, which irritates gums and softens tooth enamel.” Experts warn that frequent consumption of products that contain acid will eventually destroy the enamel and expose underlying dentin, leaving your teeth vulnerable to sensitivity and tooth decay. “Enamel erosion is one of the most common causes of cavities and tooth loss. This is because when you feast on these fruits for a long period, it means you are constantly bathing your teeth in acid and sugar; this will not allow your saliva to wash it away and neutralise the acids,” Olonilua says. Other fruits in this category include orange, apple and grapefruit juice. The dentist says since these fruits also contain natural sugars, the best bet is to thoroughly rinse the mouth after taking them. Dried fruits: In these days of eating on-the-go, dried fruits come in handy, as you can munch them at any time of the day. Plus, they are available all the year round, and you can stock up on them without any fear that they would rot. However, experts say though dried fruits have admirably long shelf life, their detrimental effects on the teeth are enormous. Olonilua says, “Dried fruits can be harmful to the teeth because of their concentrated sugar content and stickiness. When you eat dried fruits, parts of them can easily adhere to the teeth, while the sugar in them encourages bacteria to thrive in the mouth. This is very likely to erode tooth enamel.” Scientists contend that since dried fruits are packed with non-soluble cellulose fibre, they can bind and trap sugars on and around the tooth, making it worse than sweets. They advise that after taking dried fruit, brush immediately; and if you have no access to brush, rinse your mouth thoroughly while running your tongue all over your teeth. Red, white wine: When taken in moderation, wine is said to benefit the heart immensely. But then, wines do wreck havoc on teeth also. Take the red wine, for instance, which, experts say, is a tasty mix of natural dyes, acids, and tannin. These three ingredients leave lasting effects on teeth, as they can contribute to teeth stain. Researchers say saliva in our mouth helps to wash away food particles and protect against acidic foods. However, wine contains alcohol, and alcohol suppresses the production of saliva. When this happens frequently, it is harmful for teeth and it may lead to gum disease. In extreme cases, it may lead to oral cancer, experts warn. A group of New York University researchers warn that if taken in excess, the acidic composition of wines can dissolve the enamel, make teeth porous and easily stained. Another study published in the journal Nutrition Research states that different types of wine may have a more negative impact on your teeth than others. The study shows that white wine has an acid content that tends to increase the risk of dark dental stains if you also drink tea or similar beverages. The researchers tested the effects of multiple red and white wines on teeth, and found that wine erodes the enamel of teeth, while white wine has a worse impact than red wine. “Wine is highly acidic, and the acid leads to lower levels of minerals such as calcium and dental erosion. The white grape variety (riesling) was found to be the most acidic of the wines tested,” the study says. Well, unlike the advice with other foods, experts say it is not recommended to brush immediately after drinking wine. “The softened teeth can be eroded by vigorous hygiene, so you should rinse — and wait a bit — before scrubbing your teeth,” the experts advise. Olonilua says for this reason, it’s always a good idea to drink some water after drinking wine in order to rinse the acids from your mouth. http://www.punchng.com/health/healthwise/these-foods-benefit-the-body-but-harm-the-teeth |

Over 16,156 persons die annually in Benue state from the dreaded HIV/AIDS despite efforts by the state government to stem the prevalence of the virus in the state. The Director, AIDS Control Program at the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Gideon Dura, made this known in a paper he presented at the stakeholders forum organised by Jireh Doo Foundation, JDF, as part of activities to mark the 10th anniversary of the foundation. Dura further disclosed that “the annual new HIV/AIDS Infections in BenueState stood at 21,259 which means that we need to do more to stem the virus.” He pointed out that “not less than 11,577 children are infected with the virus annually and among the children with HIV infections, 90% are due to mother to child transmission, MTCT.” He explained that Child’s HIV accounted for 10% of all HIV infections in the State stressing that HIV infection compounded by underlying malnutrition, malaria, opportunistic infections, anaemia, other childhood illnesses and obstetric emergencies had increased maternal and infant mortality in the state by many folds. Dura said that the epidemic was currently skewing towards the rural communities stressing that over 60% of those infected were women who had less cultural rights and were continuously oppressed by male dominance in the communities of the State. He however noted that the achievement of a HIV- free generation was possible “if only the right interventions of HIV were employed to close the right gaps in the right places for the right people, by the right providers with the right support within the right time” he said. Also speaking, National Coordinator of JDF, Ms. Josephine Habba lamented that stigmatisation and discrimination issues were still hindering increased access and uptake of HIV/AIDS services as well as access to Orphans and Vulnerable children (OVC) in Nigeria. Habba urged religious and traditional leaders to be more involved in the fight against stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS and children who were orphaned by the disease. She advocated that the response to the challenges of OVC programming should adequately address the root causes of the critical mass of OVC such as communal conflicts, street children, children with disabilities, children involved in hazardous labour as well as children orphaned by HIV/AIDS among others. This is really alarming! http://www.vanguardngr.com/ |
Bull sh*t!! . . . Just when i have applied for lecturing job in some Universities. . . . They don't know there are no jobs in this godamn country. |
udopee: @ the op,as a man on trousers, when you want to urinate in an open place, you freely do that at ease without people around seeing ur body, it is not the same case with a woman wearing trousers. If accidentally she is on a far journey and along the line the vehicle stops for people to urinate, I tell you that you will see everything cus she have to pull down the trouser to her hipline before having free assess to ease herself. What else is she hiding again. It wouldn't be like that if she is wearing a well covering long skirt bcus all she need to do is to quietly bend down and off she goes. THIS IS SIMPLE REASONING TO SHOW YOU THAT NATURE DOES NOT SUPPORT WOMEN WEARING TROUSERS OR MEN WEARING SKIRT...SHALOM!God bless u.....people like OP ll advocate for gay marriage in this country. What is bad is bad and we have to condemn it in totallity. |
