November 18, 2015 at 12:18 am. By Emma Amaize, Emeka Mamah, Innocent Anaba, Anayo Okoli, Nwabueze Okonkwo, Francis Igata & Chimaobi Nwaiwu. Warns pro-Biafra protesters to avoid South-South territories. Uyo —The ethnic nationalities of the South- South geo- political zone, yesterday, denounced demands for Biafra by Igbo in the South-East zone and called for an immediate cessation of pro-Biafra protests on their soil. This came as the South East Governors Forum, SEGF, summoned an emergency meeting of Igbo leaders to discuss the persisting protests by members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, which have paralysed economic activities in the old Eastern region. In a 10-point communique issued at Uyo at the end of a meeting held under the auspices of the Conference of Ethnic Nationalities of the South-South at Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, chaired by HRM, Obong (Dr) EU Ekidem, Ntisong Ibibio III, the Ntisong of Ibibio land, they dissociated the South-South zone from the “so-called Biafra.” Representatives of Ibibio, Efik, Anang, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Ikwerre, Oro, Isoko and several other nationalities attended the summit. Among them were the interim chair of the group, HRM Ekidem, Convener of the meeting and Secretary of the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, ILoT, Delta state, Barrister Edward Ekpoko, Albert Akpomudje, SAN (Urhobo) and president general of Ogbakor- Ikwerre in Rivers state, Prof A.M Onyeozu. Pastor Nelson CocoBassey (Efik ethnic nationality), Ulap Bidiak Uloh (Oro ethnic nationality), Amechi Ogbonnia (Itsekiri), Obong Ukpong Umoh and Obong Aniedi Ndem were at the conference and signed the communique. source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/biafra-count-us-out-s-south-tells-agitators/

donofdons:Shut up ur mouth and talk only abt South east. Must you always tag we south south wit yu south east? Do we speak one language? |
biafranqueen:As a niger deltan from Rivers state (Ikwerre) like I stated, the only brother we niger deltans have are we the niger deltans. Why because: 1. Up north we have some political issues with them. 2. Yoruba same political issues. 3. But the igbos. We have both Political and Ancestral/Cultural issues, Which makes the case of the igbo worst. Just like The minister of transportation said during his ministerial screening. That the ikwerre in his village have no problem with the hausa man in sokoto' That the fight is just btwin the Elite (Politicians) Let me than say that: The Ikwerre man in my village have serious ancestral problem with the igbos. And the only love the ikwerre people have with the igbos is jst btwin the Elites (Politicians) |
biafranqueen:I am a Rivers man (Ikwerre) and I think the problem of this present generation of igbo extraction is that, most igbo parents tell their children histories that would paint the igbo tribe good, mostly when it comes to that of the niger deltans and the igbos. |
In an attempt to forcelly include the Niger delta region (south south) as been part of the biafran quest, the indigenous people of biafra (IPOB) on tuesday took their protest to the city of port harcourt despite warnings by the state government, ikwerre youth movement and the south south liberation movement. As about 10am on tuesday morning no fewer than 15 buses loaded with indigenous people of biafra members (IPOB) arrived port harcourt from aba with placards, biafra flag and various pictures of Nnamdi kalu who was arrested by the federal government. The indigenous people of biafra members who arrived port harcourt from aba were also accompanied with a very large number of igbos residing in port harcourt on their said peaceful biafra protest which according to some eye witnesses (Chinedu Oyimba, and Wale Fayemi) accused the police to have shot dead five indigenous people of biafra protesters. An eyewitness said that “thousands of protesters coming from Aba, Abia State seem to have overwhelmed the security men who are reluctant to use maximum force. Please nobody should dare come near Aba Port Harcourt/Expressway or Okporo road. As I call you now, I am speaking from where I am taking cover to avoid stray bullets from obviously infuriated security men who are being dared by pro-Biafra youths from Aba. Another eyewitness said as “I talk to you now the protesters are daring the security men. The protesters should go to their states in Abia, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states and stop disturbing the peace of Port Harcourt. If they are protesting against the arrest and detention of Nnamdi KANU, the Director of Radio Biafra, they should go and protest in Abuja, not Port Harcourt. Another eyewitness said: “The pro-Biafra protesters have right to protest but we, Rivers people do not support Biafra, they should allow us to go to our various business places.” The IPOB memebers since the arrest of nnamdi kalu (IPOB leader and Radio biafra director) weeks ago had vowed not to rest until the federal government releases Nnamdi kalu their leader. Since the arrest of Radio Biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), pro-Biafra sentiments has shot through the roof. Kanu, who is also acclaimed to be the Director of Biafra Television and the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was arrested in Lagos by security operatives, as he flew into Nigeria from his base in the UK. His arrest has however sparked series of protest, just last week quite a large number of people in Anambra and Port Harcourt took to the streets to protest his arrest, some of the protesters were subsequently arrested and charged with treason. This has also set the internet abuzz with videos and pictures of Nigerians in the Diaspora tearing their Nigerian passports in support of the pro-Biafra group and speaking against the Nigerian government. Their actions even made cover pages of newspapers in the country. INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA: South-South group kicks against secession By: BABAJIDE OKEOWO, JUDITH UZOMA Monday, 02 Nov 2015 07:24PM Features BABAJIDE OKEOWO , JUDITH UZOMA Since the arrest of Radio Biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), pro-Biafra sentiments has shot through the roof. Count us out of your agitation – South-South Alliance Project Group This unrest has prompted a group, the South-South Alliance Project Group to dissociate themselves from IPOB and condemn in unequivocal terms actions of the group. According to the coordinator of the group, Charles Inko-Tariah “On behalf of the good people of the South-South, we unequivocally condemn the recent protest and activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) within the territory of the South-South especially Port-Harcourt. We watch with dismay the ongoing brainwashing, blackmail and propaganda by few of our Ibo neighbors within Port-Harcourt and its environs geared towards coercing the innocent and uninformed people of the region to their personal and self centered agenda,” he said Speaking further, Inko-Tariah said “we want to make it categorically clear to those behind this wicked and selfish act, especially the so called IPOB that no part or territory of the South-South belongs to the South-East. Rivers State and indeed other South-South States are not Igbos, so don’t involve us in your planned agitation and struggle for Biafran state. We don’t believe in Biafra and their so called Biafra radio, we believe in ourselves as Niger-Deltans, our challenges are peculiar, so stay clear from our land with your so called struggle. We believe in the sovereignty of the Nigeria and the peaceful co-existence of the Nigerian state, we have absolute confidence in the administration of President Buhari and his ability to develop the South-South in line with his campaign promises and in his ability to fast track the Nigerian economy” he disclosed. We will defend our land – Inko-Tariah Preaching the need for peaceful coexistence as a tool in the development of the Niger Delta, Inko-Tariah called on people of the Niger-Delta to stand firm in the face of this unrest. “We use this opportunity to call on our South-South brothers, fathers, mothers and all stakeholders to stand and defend our land from this modern day invasion of our rights and territory that our ancestors like Isaac Adaka-Boro, Ken Saro-Wiwa and many other fought for. We call on Nigerians residing in the South-South states; the Hausas, Igbos and Yorubas to remain calm and go about their lawful duties and business without fear or favour. Let us all continue to enjoy the peaceful cohabitation already existing and the good harmonious relationship because we believe and are committed to the Nigerian project” he said. Buhari should fulfill his electoral promise– Group The group also used the opportunity to call on President Buhari to make good his electioneering promises to the south-south people. “We therefore call on President Muhammadu Buhari to make good all his electioneering promises to the people of the South-South. While we thank him for this interest and attention to the implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) reports on Ogoni land, we also call on him to fast track the coastal shore protection project proposed by late President Umar Yar-Adua round the shores of the Niger-Delta to protect the communities from environmental decay and possible natural disasters as well open up our ancestral homes to project its tourist and economic potentials. It will be recalled that IPOB is a separatist movement calling for the independence of Nigeria’s former Eastern Region – proclaimed the Republic of Biafra in 1967 and reannexed to Nigeria three years later, following a civil war that claimed between one and three million lives. http://dailytimes.com.ng/indigenous-people-of-biafra-south-south-group-kicks-against-secession/

No reasonable niger delta (south south) would love to be in a country(biafra) were 45% of its population is of one ethnic group (igbo), Coupled with the accusation already placed on the 45%(igbo) on marginalisation and various attempt of colonising before and during the eastern region government of the other 55% (South south), whereas the 55% is more developed infrastructurally, culturally with a better economy, political success, larger land mask e.t.c than the 45% (igbo). Now when ever the 45% (igbo) hear or read anything about the 55% not been part of biafra but to be on there own as niger delta republic (for only the south south states) the 45% (igbos) kick against it with its fullest strength even when this 55% (south south) were never biafrans as 98% of its population coupled with its traditional leaders reject the biafran offer by the 45% (ojukwu) and sided the nigeria state which led to the killing of millions of the 45% (igbos) but yet this 45% (igbos) are still kiling themselves on the 55% (south south) who do not even care about them (igbos) as no group, forum, organisation be it traditional or political unites them togther, but yet this 45% (igbos) have failed to quit there quest on acquiring the 55% (igbos) to there biafra, the most painfull thing is that the 55% (south south) have deep hatred for the 45% (igbos) to the point that some ethnic groups of the 55% (south south) do not marry nor sell lands to the 45% (igbos) the question is why are this 45% (igbos) so desperate about the 55% (south south)??

Another victim of the police and military shooting in
Anambra state. The crowd gathered under the aegis of the Indigenous People of Biafra which issued official statement condemning the shooting at the unarmed people. Pro-Biafra marchers were peaceful and unarmed, reports claim. “ How come our security men find it so easy to kill peaceful IPOB members but won’t lift a finger against the deadly Boko Haram? These brothers were peaceful in their engagement, they weren’t radical or causing any harm according to eye witnesses, they weren’t armed, so why shoot at them? ” was said in the IPOB statement. The agitation for the actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra has been on for some time now. The Republic of Biafra came about when a secessionist state situated in south- eastern of Nigeria tried to break away from Nigeria but were stopped. Biafra was inhabited mostly by the Igbo people and was in existence from 30th May 1967 to 15th January 1970. The Movement for the Actualization of State of Biafra (MASSOB) is yet to give up the fight to secede from Nigeria. The group have even established a radio station, called Radio Biafra somewhere in Europe.

Critically wounded person gets treatment. The death toll hasn’t been verified officially yet, but the reports claim that those people were hit with stray bullets.
|
No less than seven people were killed, and about 30 more
injured, most of them critically, when the Nigerian police and
military reportedly opened fire dispersing a crowd of the pro-
Biafra marchers at Onitsha in Anambra state on Sunday. What started as a peaceful meeting … ended with a bloodbath.. According to some reports from Anambra state, three people were fatally shot dead on the spot and 30 others got bullet wounds when the police and Nigerian navy opened fire to disperse the crowd of the pro-Biafra marchers in Onitsha on Sunday. More than twenty people were critically wounded and by this Monday morning there were seven people dead as a result of shooting at the demonstrators. |

Hello ladies and gentle men, indigenous people of Niger delta
(south south), friends and enemies of Niger delta (south south) I
greet you all. It is my pleasure to make known to you the Niger
delta republic facebook page ( www.facebook.com/
nigerdeltarepublicmovement ), indeed we must be free from the
fraud called nigeria, I am also glad to inform you that MOSUNDI
(movement of the survival of niger delta indegenes ) have by the
grace of God successfully written the united nation on a
sovereign state of niger delta for the south south states some
few months ago, they are getting great support from wealthy
niger deltans silently, please you shoud not be moved by the lies
of Radio biafra saying niger delta (south south) a region
larger, economically richer, with great cultures, and more
developed and populated than the south east is part of the so
called biafra. Who told Nnamdi kanu (Radio biafra director) that
niger deltans have this time arpund agree to be part of them (the
igbos/south east), No niger delta traditional leader ranging from
Edo,bayelsa, rivers, akwa ibom, cross rivers and delta state have
ever publicly declear support for the actualization of Biafra for
both the south south and south east, we see this attitude by
Nnamdi Kanu as the greatest showcase of stupidity and
ignorance, we appreciate the support they (igbos) gave to our
son during the just concluded presidential election which most
people say it was because they had no choice than to support
former president jonathan does not in anyway guarantee the
merging of south south and south east to form biafra. Prominent
Niger deltans (south south) such as Ken Saro Wiwa of Ogoni,
Elechi Amadi of Ikwerre, Isaac Adaka Boro of ijaw just to name
a few including the traditional rulers of the ibibio, efik, ikw
erre, ogoni who looked straight to ojukwu's face and rejected his
biafran proposal are not fools, you should not forget about the
abandon properties in port harcourt by the ikwerres, and the no
selling of land law to the igbos passed by the Oba of Ogba land,
and the traditional ruler of Siin community in Ogoni land, all in
Today Rivers State, These elders are very intelligent and will
never embark on what will destroy there people in future. Niger
delta (south south) is made up of numerous minor ethnic groups
and It would be better we leave together as one than to join any
larger tribe be it yoruba or igbo to avoid domination crisis, which
the igbos have failed to understand even when thesame igbos
were accused of domination by some ethnic groups in the niger
delta (south south) before and during eastern region
government, We the people of Niger delta(south south) would
not like to hear things like igbos now own lagos and so on in
any part of our land, which will eventually lead to tribal crisis
and disunity as it is experienced in lagos today even if the
yorubas still have full control of lagos state . Remain calm, Love
every Niger deltan (south south) as yourself, be it ibibio, efik, urh
obo, itserkiri, ikwerre, ijaw, ogoni, engenni e.t.c for we are all one.
Follow/Like our facebook page : www.facebook.com/
nigerdeltarepublicmovement as we await Radio Niger delta by
MOSUNDI (Movement of the survival of niger delta indegenes).
This message thoes not in anyway call for the hatred of the
igbos or any other tribe in today nigeria, but rather it should
enlighten you on were you belong, as by the grace of God with
time we shall all have different national I.D card.
God bless you all. Pls share to as many as you can. By Franklin Ekpete

Ateke Tom Didn’t Endorse Resurrection of Biafra –Monarch - Radio Niger delta. Like Our Page For Latest News. The paramount ruler of Torukongo community in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, who is also the president of the Concerned Youths of the Niger Delta (CYND), Chief John Ochi (JP), has said that ex-militant leader, Ateke Tom would give maximum support to President Muhammadu Buhari’s government contrary to insinuations making the round in some quarters. The paramount ruler also refuted rumours that Ateke planned to support the resurrection of the defunct Biafra Republic, saying that it was all an attempt to frame the repentant warlord. “Northerners should realise that the only brother they have is the Niger Delta. During the war, Biafrans buried many of our fathers alive. That was why when Adaka Boro was released in Lagos, he joined the Nigerian side to liberate us from the Biafrans so there is no way Ateke can join Biafrans today. “The Igbos then used us as slaves in our land. Former President Ibrahim Babangida, realising this, gave us NAFCON, NLNG, Petrochemical and Refinery Phase 2 which employed several of our youths but today, many of these companies have been sold out”, Chief Ochi said. He added that; “Ateke has done a lot for the Niger Delta. His recourse to freedom fighting was due to the oil being produced here which we were not benefitting from and his love for the country led him to embrace amnesty and he has not looked back since then in promoting peace.” Chief Ochi, however, said that the plan by President Buhari to probe only the administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was unacceptable and queried why the Niger Delta freedom fighters were not invited before he went ahead to appoint a military man to head the amnesty programme rather than a civilian as the freedom fighters are his children. He said that Ateke was given the title of the Voice of the Niger Delta and high chief due to his good works and urged all and sundry to be wary of those trying to frame him up. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Radio-Niger-delta/1627523210835497?ref=bookmarks |
