The truth is that since most states in the south started complaining against high cut off marks for their indigenes while their northen counterparts get very low cut offs for the same course and school, jamb instead of raising the uniform cut off to a level that will make the north work a bit harder, they in the spirit of tribal sentiments lowered the cut off to the 'northern standard' even when they know it will destroy our already deteoriating educational standard.
The day we stop doing favoritism towards the north who have refused to catch up with the south and start doing things by merit is the day we'll start moving forward as a nation

I still wonder why people complain about poor data service on glo especially on Nairaland. I believed this for almost a year until I subscribed on a brothers phone. I must say in all the States I have been to in recent times, Lagos, Kaduna, Maiduguri and Abeokuta, I have no regrets subscribing because it wasn't a bad experience. I even had to switch from MTN to glo at Maiduguri because mtn really sucked where I was.

One of our military drivers we had when I was growing up, his name was Moses. One day a relation of mine asked him his surname. He answered that his surname was Okwute.

Surprised, the relation asked him the meaning of Okwute in his language. He answered that it means 'stone'!!!

Well, guess what!? Okwute means the same thing in Igbo!!

Now going to the Ada from Idoma I talked about in the earlier post, she confirmed it with her own mouth that her name Ada meant 'first daughter'.

On your comment that it doesn't sound the same like the Igbo Ada: it doesn't matter whether it sounds the same like in 'normal' Igbo language. You know why? Try this experiment: ask an An English descended American to pronounce the word 'today'; then ask an English descended Australian to pronounce 'today'. You will see a big difference in pronunciation, even though it is the same English word with the same meaning.

Having said that , let me shock you the more: The Idoma pronunciation of their name Ada is the same with the 'normal Igbo' pronunciation of the same name! That was why I was so surprised when the said Ada told me she was Idoma.

Judgement: We may not agree with everything Nnamdi KANU says, but on his insinuation that Igbo and Idoma have more in common than the letter 'I' at the beginning of their names, he is very very correct.

Quote me, Webometrics is not recognised outside Nigeria, and by extension, Africa. The chief reason for this is that the ranking system does not fit into the most advanced thinking on University ranking methodology. Specifically, the ranking is mainly based on University 'presence' on the internet-hence the name-'WEBometrics'. In fact, there's a caveat on Webometrics' website that: "It does not measure, compare, or quantify design layout or popularity but rather uses presence, access, and visibility as the key indicators of quality and performance in the higher education sector."

Little wonder therefore that the 2017 Webometric ranking of World Universities goes thus:

1. Harvard University
2. Stanford University
3. MIT
4. University of California Berkeley
5. University of Michigan
6. University of Washington

My point: Yale University, Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton and Columbia are ranked 13, 7, 10, 23 and 27 respectively! The only ranking methodology that can lead to such conclusion is WEBOMETRICS!

Accordingly, the only place UNN & Covenant can be rated above OAU, Ile-Ife; and FUTMINNA rated above UNILAG & ILORIN is Webometrics!

The QS World ranking of Universities, Academic ranking of World Universities and the Times are the rankings that are respected all over the world. Unfortunately, apart from UI that is recognised by the Times, no other Nigerian University is recognised by these reputable organisations.

So, stop falling over yourselves-Webometrics has little or no practical utility!
