WOW!!! 22-year-old graduate Of University of Port Harcourt, Igho kome Crowned Queen Of Aso Nigeria 2018 (photos)

22-year-old graduate Of University of Port Harcourt, Igho Oghenekome from Isoko North LGA of Delta state over the weekend wrote her name in gold as she emerged Queen Of Aso Nigeria 2018. kome who put up an impressive performance won the crown at this year's edition which was a choreographed show that showcased latest fashion concept and cultural heritage.

It recorded impressive turn out with about 20 contestants representing different states on the runway. At the end of the show, which held at Sheraton Hotels, Abuja, the Delta State contestant beat others to clinch the prestigious crown.

While Miss Tinuola Ogunyale emerged Queen of Aso International 2018. Others are Miss Christiana Ojumu crowned Queen of Aso Ambassador 2018 and Miss Aminat Ibrahim decorated Queen of Aso Tourism 2018

The event also honoured selected personalities and recognised youths making marks in their fields of endeavours. Amongst them are Mrs Julie Okah -Don Director General NAPTIP, Mr folarin Coker- Director General NTDC. Others are Mrs Chichi Umeseaka- Special Adviser to To Abia State Governor on Teens Matters, Bilikisu Audu - CEO Jazee Makeover, Hon. The winner of Queen of Aso Nigeria Beauty Pageant 2018 will represent Nigeria at Miss Cosmo World Pageant in Malaysia in October while the 1st Runner up will represent Nigeria at Miss Journalism World beauty pageant in Tanzania in October

The pageant Director Desmond Agboola and Manager Kingsley Agboola expressed satisfaction on the turn out and excellent organisation of the event. As they commended partners and sponsors who made this edition possible. Dana Air Recognized as Being Most Socially Responsible…Hails FG’s campaign against fake news

One of Nigeria’s leading airlines Dana Air has clinched another award for being the most socially responsible airline at the 22nd League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) seminar and awards held recently in Lagos.

The award presented to Dana Air was in recognition of the airline’s contribution to the fight against sickle cell anemia and cancer in Nigeria across the country since its inception in 2008.

The LAAC seminar and awards brought together stakeholders, airline operators, industry professionals, security agencies, aviation support service providers, and international airlines to brainstorm on the theme of the seminar – “Financing Aviation Development through Private Sector Partnership,’’

The Media and Communications Manager of Dana Air, Kingsley Ezenwa, while reacting to the award said, “at least our CSR efforts and contribution to the fight against sickle cell anemia and cancer is being recognized by a credible body. This is the 3rd award and we are happy that our media partners actually believe in our commitment to continually give back to the society. We thank LAAC for not only supporting the industry, but for being a credible watchdog.’’

Meanwhile the airline has commended the Federal Government for launching a campaign against fake news in Nigeria, stating that the campaign is timely and in the right direction.

Speaking on the recently launched campaign, the airline’s spokesman, Kingsley Ezenwa said, “obviously, the recent issues of too many fake news emanating from faceless people and on social media particularly WhatsApp, has prompted the Federal Government to take this step, which I feel is a step in the right direction.'' 

We have suffered it twice; last year, it was somebody in Akwa Ibom that posted a fake report on facebook without verifying and now on WhatsApp. A couple of other domestic airlines have also suffered similar faith, so we believe this is a good step, particularly for the aviation industry.’’

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed while launching the campaign in Abuja said, fake news has become a threat to global peace, including Nigeria, and if left unchecked, could endanger human existence.

The Minister appealed to Nigerians to play an active part by verifying information before sharing.  These simple measures may not end fake news but will go a long way in stemming its spread.” he said.

One of Nigeria’s leading airlines Dana Air has emerged the Best Customer Friendly Domestic airline 2018 at a summit and award ceremony organized by the Association of Foreign Airlines and Representatives in Nigeria (AFARN) in Lagos recently.

The fight against drug abuse and substance consumption might have selected a new phase of focus to torpedo the fast devastating situation amongst youths in Nigeria. This proactive decision was propose by the Abuja Drug Abuse Campaign in a press statement it released today.

The convener of the initiative, Prince UC presented the statement with the need to create a multipurpose vehicle through which the public can be sensitised on the menace of drug and substance abuse in our society. 

The Abuja Drug Abuse Campaign unveiled its forthcoming program with the the theme "Drug and Substance Abuse, an emerging and current impediment to national development". The program which commences with a 20km walk will be held at abuja on the 4th of August, following  sensitization workshop on the 6th of August holding at Shehu MUSA Yaradua Centre.

According to the statement, the rate of involving elders, youths, children and women is worrisome and must be tackled head long so as to contend this destructive vice especially on our children and women who defines the structure of our nation's future.

The statement uncovered  that over 40% of Nigeria youths are either users, abusers, addicts or have become totally dependent on drugs and substance.

However, this bull of rut has chased-on a generation of youths who find solace in drugs.

In a sensitization program conducted by Abuja Drug Abuse Campaign in Katsina state, its team discovered drug abusers, who are currently going through a special rehabilitation program.

Tagwaye Charity Foundation and Elizabeth Jarich foundation, the mother organisers of this fight against drug abuse are optimistic that the fight will be a fruition if it is supported by the government, corporate agencies and well meaning Nigerians.

Philanthropist turn Politician and Social Democratic Party (SDP) Leading Governorship Aspirant in Imo State, chief collins osuagwu has vowed to create five million jobs for imolites if elected as Governor in the 2019 Governorship Election. 

Chief Collins Osuagwu said he'll create at least one million jobs for each year of his administration and reduce the state's unemployment rate. According to him, the jobs to be created will span across agriculture, tourism, entertainment, ICT and many other sectors.

He also revealed that the state jobs database will be created to make it easier for job owners and job seekers to connect with each other.

To further reduce unemployment , he said he'll be reviving the moribund state-owned industries and exploring the tourism and Agro sectors of the state economy. He also plans to scale up micro, small and medium enterprises as well as increase their capacity by providing supports to entrepreneurs.

Osuagwu also promised to establish vocational and technical skills acquisition training centers across imo state, the reputable philanthropist and Governorship hopeful further stated that when youths get trained and empowered, it reduces unemployment, crime, hunger and insecurity.

Our attention has been drawn to two false and malicious broadcast messages circulating on WhatsApp  requesting the public not to fly with Dana Air and another message urging Nigerians not to buy a ‘’Dana’’ branded rice that arrived the country from Pakistan and did not pass Health standard because it brings a virus  only seen in pakistan.’’

While we would ordinarily not want to dignify the perpetrators and their paymasters with a response, we felt the need to unearth their puerile, senseless and deliberate act of peddling two false broadcast messages about a single brand in one day. It is either their pay master is so clueless to have advised them to circulate both messages in one day or the perpetrators decided to be overzealous

For the records, the Dana brand has been in Nigeria for over 45 years contributing positively to the Nigerian  economy with quality products in the areas of Aviation, Steel, Manufacturing, Automobile, Banking, Real Estate, Health, and Beverage, just to mention a few.

The Dana Group being a proudly Nigerian brand committed to the growth of the economy and development of the country stopped the importation of rice in 2015 in line with the desires and commitment of both the outgoing and incoming administrations to grow local capacity for quality rice production in Nigeria.

We advise the perpetrators to desist from this evil act of working at cross-purposes with a conglomerate that has shown massive commitment and contributed immensely to the growth and development of our country, by providing jobs for our youths, supporting worthy causes with its broad CSR initiatives and production of quality products which can compete with global brands and for the well-being of Nigerians.
