I have been observing for a while now that most places I go, they don't have change for 500 or 1000 Naira notes. Why is this happening. Then I went to buy a bottle of malt, this man usually sell it for 90 Naira but yesterday he sold it for 100 naira. Then all of a sudden it hit me that inflation is coming again which might be as a result of lack of lower denominations of money. Is this the trick CBN wants to use so as to still introduce the 2000 Naira note ? I am not an economist but I would like some explanation and don't mind learning from it. I am just speculating that other commodities too might increase due to this effect. Might be wrong. |
Julieccentric: I was talking to one of this aboki okada guys and asked what he intended to do with his life now that there was a ban.Did you also tell him that if he follows that path, he would either be shot dead or burnt to death. I do hope you made him realise this. Vigilantes are all over Lagos, warri and port harcourt o!! |
AbiodunFaf: Funny comments, it is not that anyone is saying there should not be laws regulating the activities of these okada riders and possible ban from highways and all sorts but the truth is for all these laws are there cushion effects. I am not surprised of the reactions of these people and I don't thing any right thinking person should be surprised cause the government has just treated them like mere numbers and not humans. For crying out loud do you know that majority of these okada riders are graduates who has no jobs, some have families and this job is what they feed them with. Change is a transitional thing most especially when it involves people. Where is the job that government has created for these people? And yet there are laws destroying means of livelihood that in the first place it wasn't the government that created. It is not everybody that. Has cars in Lagos, majority don't does that mean that they have to treck to their homes on their way back from work and so on. The government is calling for increase in crime rate due to joblessness and other dangerous social vices. Rather than ban, government should regulate that's what I think.Taaaaa, my brother don't give me NO JOB sentiment. So you mean it is the same Okada they would keep riding to sustain a family ? So are you encouraging our jobless graduate to take to the streets and start riding Okada ? if so then we would have millions of okada riders without costumers sef. There are no white collar jobs because people are flooding the same industry, OIL COMPANIES, BANKS, INSURANCES, TELECOM ETC. There are hectares of lands to be used. There is nothing wrong in farming BECAUSE MY PARENT HAVE DONE IT THEMSELVES to sustain the family. There are skills that can be learnt eg electrical etc What is wrong in saving up money from other sources of income and start your OWN BUSINESS ? Just yesterday I saw advert of sales assistance being sorted after. Banks are still recruiting, manufacturing companies for school sat holders are still vacant not to talk of graduates. Every graduate wants a perfect job but it is not going to happen as while some were playing others were studying. At the end of the day Okada can not sustain a family, too much brains being wasted on riding Okada. Skills can be learnt for free as an apprentice. In fact I know of a man who finished as an economist but after years of looking for a job and could not find, he went into learning mechanical engineering aka mechnic as an apprentice for 5 years. Today this man is a big man, modest car, modest house and a decent family. He did not ride Okada but used his time, brain and prayer from God to open the door. I still spoke to him 5 days ago, you would not think he ended up as a mechanical engineer after finishing as an economist. My guy, Okada is a lazy and cheap way of income that CANNOT be sustainable for graduates. He better save up to last him a month, leave the okada and start looking for ANY JOB apart from Okada. Then think of the added skill the job would give him and how he can make money off it. Heck Seun did not go to school and he made Nairaland, he does not have two heads. Everything in life requires prayer and deep thinking. |
Obiagu1: Yorubas are neither North nor South.gbam gbammmm + 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 very well said |
I really hate the idea of this north and south. If at all the country wants to split then Yorubas hold their own and are not joining any useless North or even South. North can go their way, the so called educated south can go their way. THEN THE WEST WOULD GO HER WAY. Failure to do so would only result in some iddeiots screaming marginalization again. |
Paul John: Egbon, no be by force to live in the city. Villages can never be full.gbam, really making the youths intellectually lazy. Okadas are simply not sustainable |
omosexy1: My Opinion - I think Okada should be outrightly banned from Lagos. We have many mad persons riding these motorcycles in the city. They don't obey traffic laws, many don't have licenses, some engage in criminal activities. The recent restriction placed on them has revealed the mental capacity of these thugs. Yet, people continue to patronise them and trust them with their lives. On several occasions, I have had to apply caution not to knock down okada riders and passengers on express roads who deliberately choose to ply one-way. Honestly, the State Govt cannot curb these okada menace rather an outright ban is the best way about it.well said, I don't even own a car but I know how bad this so called Okadas are. I also know how bad Keke napep are but they are a better alternative to okadas. I mostly use BRTs and Danfos. |
new maonza: ACN gra-gra is becoming too muchEven if PDP enters, it would be a continuation of this current laws so don't get your hopes high. |
“Somebody just pulls okada from any parts of the country he likes, gets onto a truck, he’s going to Lagos and then you entrust your life to that man? As if that was not bad enough, he drives against traffic?"could not have put it better. Anyone that cares about his safety and that of lagosians would see reason of course myopic people would disagree because they only see what is right infront of them |
I really really really HOPE LAGOS STATE BAN THOSE OKADAS. |
not surprised anyway tribalism. Just let her do her job and leave. SMH |
Always, my dear Awori Prince.
no wahala egbon. Don't mind if Anthony Enahoro can be included. thanks |
LOL it's really not a business of mine but I would like to just share my thought if you don't mind. ![]() The mods clearly don't want to embarrass PointB and co with this "eze ndigbo nairaland" thing given that fact they would be accursed of doing such. Trust me I think that was their reason for the delay. IMO, I think some people are taking nairaland too far. ![]() |
Interesting read. It's good to share knowledge once a while. Thanks man |
hypeman: Oi, this is unfair, trust me... lol |
Chiemeka orizu: Kudos to my brothers and sisters. In my widest dream I never thought that such a thing like this could ever happen on NL. Who ever came up with this great idea is just a super genius. Kudos once again to every igboman on NL.EZE NDIGBO NL I salute you my king you shall live long!!.am proud to be an igbo man.I will support this election with every single drop of blood that I have. Igbos are just the best.ekene kwam unu ozo! Jisi ike! Unu a dana mba oru. Great igbos! Great people! Great leaders!. Abum nwa afo igbo, anam onochite anya ndi nnewi. @ Joeyfire and ikeyman01. On a serious note, do you take any threat from us serious ? LOL My brothers we can't hurt a fly.joeyfire: Yes the statement is a veiled threat oga stop defending the obvious. He is reminding us that most of the assets of igbos are in yorubaland, reminding us that we have been undisturbed all this while. In a saner country opadokun would have had questions to answer in interrogation room somewhere. So if I remain you that your friend that you are insult, it is his house you are living is that a threat ? You think if Mr Ayo said that statement in the way you twisted it, he would not be questioned by likes of Falana, Soyinka and Fasheun ? We have a total different orientation from what you think. No inciteful statement has ever been made without careful consideration by likes of the people I mentioned above. You are just trying to twist his words so he looks bad and you and Achebe can be vindicated. |
gaby: Who is the most foolish man among these 3 men? Please pick just one.if u demand an answer LOOOOOOOL the answer is number 3. |
when has Dede1 and willy-willy ever put up as smile icon to a yorubaman's post ? ![]() Na wa o !!! |
onatisi: if he tinubu tries to impose his candidates again in lagos and other states ,there is every likelyhood of massive defection from that party to pdp.deflection ke ? Tinubu would not want to tarnish his image neither would he want a riot because of him. He would rather play safe. BTW, I hate when people try to paint ACN as a regional party because it is not |
Rossike, you see what I mean ? They would not try to answer your question rather they would insult you. How I wish a day would come when we can dialogue with Igbos on nairaland and we would actually be laughing and joking with each other without any insult. How I wish a day would come when me and Onlytruth, willy-willy can actually talk and we all laugh I mean Willy-willy of a man has never smiled or laughed before |
BetaThings: Really?Yes indeed it should have gone to preventive measures. BetaThings: So Otedola will now go to jail for falsifying AP's accounts and also for acquiring N24.5b worth of AP's share without payingOtedola is no god-father. When I talk of god-father in terms of GEJ I mean likes of OBJ and IBB. I don't see them in the scheme of things. Tell me if I am wrong. There are not a lot of god-fathers in jail because IMO they are powerful, now the little any incumbent can do is to dissociate him/herself from such person. A god-father is a person that controls the government he has his hands on from poltical, economical and financial point of view. THAT IS WHAT TINUBU IS EXACTLY. tell again if I am mistaking |
joeyfire: Alj Harem take time o!So you actually think the above statement is a threat ? Is it not the same thing we say here on Nairaland, have you ever considered that as a threat to ? I keep repeating to stop insulting yorubas because they love Igbos you all keep shouting and screaming.. He is just reminding some of you incase you have forgotten how inrelated yorubas and Igbos are. Do you want yorubas and igbos to fight ? I certainly don't want it but Achebe seems to want it. |
onatisi: the outcome of this ondo election is a good omen, becos now other acn state govs will know that tinubu cannot save u at the polls if the ppl reject you ,i think this is likely to wake them up to start performing and in view of that there may be some conflicts between tinubu and some acn govs ,this election has proven that there is a limit to what tinubu can do,this will likely bring a limit on the orders they will be obeying from himwell put |
BetaThings: And what did Bush Jnr do? 2 wars brought about the rapid catch-up of China with America. American debt is now 100% of GDP. It is now very difficult for America to fight a major warWhat has the centre done for Lagos ? Most federal presence if not all are now in Abuja and SS of the country. What is left for Lagos WHICH THE FG still control are the sea and air ports. If not for the recent complains by Lagosians and foreigners alike do you think the present MMIA would be renovated ? The FG does not care about Lagos, In fact to them, Lagos have no special statue. If you are not Abuja, South-south states then forget it. When last has the FG repaired roads in Lagos ? |
Ozonna: Believe it or not, Yorubas are polically more enlightened than the rest of the tribes in nigeria. Look @ the debate, the contestants subjected demselves to the debate. The voters now chose d best candidate by dia own judgement.Bros that's a lie, the issue here is that others are enlightened but chose to remain ignorant for reasons best known to them. |
BetaThings: So Lagos is badly-governed and the FG is perfectNot at all, I was one of those advocating for a change in the FG aka Buhari for the same reason I argued above. Already it is a known deal that any presidential candidate that wins primaries in PDP is our president whether he is good or not. Why do you think ROTATION of power only as far as I know exist in PDP ? Presently if not that Jonathan is under sooooo much pressure, I would also be relaxed and think it's business as usual. Nigerians are increasely getting educated and aware of their rights. Tinubu and any other god-father SHOULD NOT BE ENCOURAGED because doing such would mean corruption would keep booming. That is where I like GEJ, he dropped his god-fathers and focus on the task at hand. |
toba: i would agree wi8th u. Bill clinton of the democratic party to power from a republican and he handed over to a republican. a republican pres bush handed over power to Obama a democrat. its good so complacency is discouragedMy sentiment exactly. |
Princessaleeza: I love Acn because pdp wasn't doing right, but now am confused wit wot is goin on wit our governors now re day.Fashola has done his best. Whether we like it or not it is time he leaves. ACN has been resting on Fashola and Oshomoile's achievement that is what Tinubu has been campaigning about. Well that is about to change as we would not move forward if we keep trying the same drug for different illness. Fashola cannot contest next election, all he would do with the forceful treat of Tinubu is recommend another successor aka Tinubu's ATM. I would strongly advice us Lagosians to vote for PDP then next election after PDP, ACN can come in again. That is the way to keep our leaders on their toes. |
