afam4eva: S, it's only when one has ruled a state that one should be termed "tested and trusted"? MUMU.So how else do you test and trust a person ? Is it not a governor doing the best for his state ? |
Immediately I saw the topic, one thing came to mind. The SE tribalistic goons would start hounding insult on the SW and volia I was right. Some have already started calling us baboons etc. LOL Now the issue here is simple because both Gbawe and Ekt-bear have good points, The best so far is that of Okija Juju. 1. The SW would accept nothing less than Fashola for presidency reason being that they see Fashola as the best governor in Nigeria. Fact !!! I support them on this. Anything less than fashola was lose the SW 2. SE having no political idealogy would sheepishly follow GEJ for second term even though they want presidency to themselves as well, but they have been trapped politically speaking because them not supporting GEJ would make them lose their candidate and also lose the love relationship they want to keep with the SS. Thus they have no choice but to support GEJ. Fact don't let NL deceive una that they would chose, there is no choosing here they simply have no choice. 3. The North would be dumb to produce Atiku knowing full well that Atiku is not loved by any group in the North not to talk of South. That Ekt-bear got spot on. 4. Beaf and co insulting the SW, you clearly stated that SW are triators and there vote does not count. Thus you can use your numbers in the SW to turn the table around GEJ again. You got nothing to be afriad of since you all are 60 % of the SW population. 5. The reality is SW don't vote based on ethnicity or zone but based on competence. It would be dumb on anyone's part to produce Atiku as there presidential candidate and expect to win against GEJ. 6. Lastly if Fashola is picked knowing full well he is a techocrite. I cannot grantee anyone else apart from Fasola winning at least 10-12 states of the country which I am sure of., 6 SW states, Edo, Delta, Kwara, Kogi and Akwa ibom with Cross river. |
By Isaac Ombe, Yenagoa Former Bayelsa State Governor Diepreye Alamieyesigha has advocated for the legalisation of bunkering in the Niger Delta. Alamieyeseigha said foreigners are the masterminds of bunkering in the region. He urged stakeholders to prevail on President Goodluck Jonathan to issue licences for the legalisation of bunkering. The former governor spoke at a ceremony in honour of the late Ijaw hero, Isaac Boro, in Yenagoa. He said: “There is one thing happening in our area now. I read in the papers about oil theft. About 17 per cent of our production is taken away. “Our people are not sophisticated enough to go into high-level bunkering. The bunkerers are not here. In the whole oil industry, how many Ijaw people are lifting oil? “To address the poverty that is so endemic among our people, there should be licences for bunkering. “The Ijaw man is not yet emancipated economically. The fight is not over, we must be economically liberated. “There is a thin line between economy and power. They complement each other. My brothers and sisters, let us unite. We should obtain licences for bunkering. “We have a president of our own, we have a minister of petroleum, who will stop us from obtaining bunkering licences? “Ask, it shall be given, knock it shall be open. No need to go behind the door. Let us confront our brother and get what we want for our people.” Alamieyeseigha extolled the legacies of the late Boro, whom he described as the architect of the survival of the Ijaw nation. “People must look at those areas that we have been impoverished and fight for it. We know that nobody will give you power on a platter of gold; you demand for it, you fight for it. It is our own,” he noted. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news-update/47369-alamieyesigha-urges-fed-govt-to-legalise-bunkering.html |
THE spate of false metering, otherwise known as under-dispensing, has been on the increase across the country since the conversion of fuel meter from analogue to digital ones, investigations by Nigerian Tribune have revealed. In a random survey carried out by Nigerian Tribune in Lagos on the incidence of false and/or fraudulent metering, it was discovered that most petrol stations’ officials engaged in this illegal act. Unsuspecting Nigerians lost billions of naira on a daily basis to this sharp practice at petrol stations with little efforts to checkmate this by concerned authorities. According to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) statistics, Nigerians consume over 35 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily. An industry watcher disclosed that digital pumps are very simple to manipulate and most Nigerians have fallen victims to false metering one way or the other. A former fuel attendant, Tobiloba Adewale, told Nigerian Tribune on Sunday that it was a normal practice to sell N700 worth of petrol as N1,000 and N1,500 worth for N2,000. He said poor remuneration package and lack of job security were the reasons the sharp practice to strive in the country. According to him, “I drove here (a petrol station on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway) to buy petrol of N2,000 worth but being an ‘experienced’ ex-attendant, I went to the machine to double-check what was actually dispensed.” Adewale said trouble broke out when he realised that petrol of N1,400 was actually dispensed instead of the N2,000 worth,” he requested. Reacting to how one can double-check; he said “the most vulnerable fuel pumps are the programmable ones. A fuel attendant will programme N700 in place of N1,000 usually by the side of the machine and the machine will display N1,000 at the front deceiving unsuspecting customers that it actually dispensed petrol of N1,000 worth. “This sharp practice has been going on for years, because I was an attendant three years ago. I was taught how to manipulate these machines by my supervisor to whom I must give ‘returns’.” A dealer at a petrol station, who preferred anonymity, disclosed that officials of Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) usually paid them unscheduled visits in order to apprehend or seal any station found wanting, saying such officials sometime demanded for bribes in order to turn a blind eye to their wrongdoings. “If you refused to settle when you are caught, your station will be sealed off and necessary penalties must be paid to avoid revocation of licence,” he said. However, the supervisor of a petrol station on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, who also pleaded anonymity argued that petrol station attendants were not well paid and many of them married men and women with varying degrees of responsibilities towards their families. “To be honest, an average fuel attendant earns between N8,000 and N12,000 as salary. If you doubt me, you can investigate it yourself. How do you expect that to be sufficient for them? It is impossible. So there is need to look for alternative source of income without [engaging in] robbery,” he said. According to a source in the DPR, Lagos Office, who preferred not to be mentioned, the agency was putting everything in place to ensure Nigerians were given what they actually paid for. “We actually carry out on-the-spot-check time-to-time and if we found anybody wanting, we seal off the machine or the station as the case may be. We have our own standard measuring-can to detect either under-dispensing or over-dispensing.” “Sometimes, they over-dispense ignorantly and we correct them, but in case of under-dispensing, we seal off the meter until they call their engineers to rectify the problem. We still go back to check if that has been actually done,” he concluded. Efforts to get reactions from Zonal Operational Controller, DPR Lagos, Mr Koko, proved abortive as call put forward to his phone was not answered. Meanwhile, Nigerians are calling on the House of Representatives to extend the ongoing probe in the downstream sector to the activities of petrol station dealers with respect to under-dispensing in order to cleanse the sector of every irregularity. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/41176-how-petrol-stations-dupe-nigerians-billions-of-naira-daily |
igbo2011: I am trying to tart a pan-african movement but people are too triba its hard mh.I understand LOL good it would be nice to see you do just that, I would not mind joining your team to see this dream come to reality. ![]() The tribal this starts and end on Nairaland. Pan africanism is a general concept but pan Nigerian is good and I am one myself ![]() |
i can't imagine silverbird being owned by some foreign company. Ben bruce u are one great nigerian |
Onlytruth: My friend drop the bottle for once and think. But that is what you implied When you talk of ala igbo you talk of Port harcort, isn't it ? |
Onlytruth: You have been killing them for their land and oil for 43 years.LOL she is not fake. I know and I know she is not "yoruba" as you would put it but Akwa Ibom ![]() |
igbo2011: We need to think with a more Pan-African mind set. The way I see it, as long a the company is African then it i cool. If a company from Mali wants to do open up tores in Nigeria let them do it. But we shouldn't allow foreigners from outside of Africa to do the same.Yeah but really this pan-africanism does not really exist. Fact !!! 1. I would love to see this mega food store owned by a Nigerian owner 2. I would love to see this megafood store get her farm produce from Nigerian farmers who are well paid. 3. I would love to see the ones not grown in Nigeria grown anywhere in the world but still under the company name 4. The company should provide at least 10 million jobs if not more (from the fram, retailer, transporter, logistics, business men, checkout point (for student quick cash), etc) 5. The company should have branches all over africa and in fact the world. Igbo2011 to be honest, that is what I want. |
Onlytruth: Anybody can form any country there provided no Igbo land is included there, else our brothers will invite our help, and we will give it.So you would kill Niger-deltans because of oil and land ? |
Sweetlemon: No! I will not speak any other language apart from what we all understand because if I do, this thread is bound to become an ethnic thread. I am focused on the message I came here to preach and I only mentioned my tribe because I wanted to illustrate something. We all educated Nigerians right? So why can't you understand a message without knowing the tribe of the messenger?? Why?? Besides, you did not reply this: Now let me tell you why Nigeria's break-up will be far from peaceful. Like someone said, Northern elites have oil wells in oil-rich states right? Good. Now tell me, do you think they will let go of these oil wells just like that?? Oh! Let me also assure you that southern elites also have dealings and businesses with their northern counterparts. How do they just leave that behind? And those Igbos dreaming of having a country with the south-south, do you think the oil rich states will not use our oil as a reason to want to rule over your Biafra?? And knowing how the proud Igbos are will you accept 2nd place? Hehehehehe! I laugh in Biafra! That is it !!! Finito |
Onlytruth: I would have invented my own "beautiful lady from Akwa Ibom"; but I cannot do that because I SERVE A LIVING GOD - A CONSUMING FIRE WHO WOULD NOT SPARE ME.So you think I am sweetlemon, LOL |
The north has not been in any more advantageous position than anyother group. |
Onlytruth: Since 1990s, there have been MANY Igbo presidential candidates who were rigged out of elections by Northern elements who have LIED for 50 years about there numeric strength in Nigeria, hence their insistence on producing Nigeria's presidents. And when they fail to get that, they resort to bombing, because they believe they should be rulling (a very sick mentality). Now you are asking whether tribal data matter in census. What numeric strength are you talking about. The 1990s was full of coups so there was no election apart from Abiola which Abacha was the worse dictator in Nigerian history. Igbos proved to have the numbers as well as they elected GEJ so there is no Advantage and disadvantage here. |
Onlytruth: Sarrap dia you fox!LOL captured ke, for where. Onlytruth Abgaya stop stress the lovely lady ![]() |
Onlytruth: So, why did you claim to be from Akwa Ibom state, since your ethnicity is not important?Dude why are you stressing the fine girl like this You dey craze ![]() Must she speak her language before you can see the sense in what she is saying |
Oturugo aka Andre Uweh I can see you are watching LOL |
Biafra4tharmy: and i cant recall any yorubas fighting a civil war against Nigeria for 30 months?huh?Do you know what actually happened that the civil war started ? It was 11 days after the aburi meeting that Gowon split Akwa ibom, Rivers, cross river and balyesa away from baifra that cause Ojukwu to be angry to start an actual war. Now lets go back 10 year before this. Nnamdi (Mr One Nigeria) arrested Enahoro (Bini) and Awolowo( Yoruba) and later split there region into Mid-west and west which was the same thing that anger Ojukwu so brother don't be annoyed because of that. Just as Yorubas were marginalised before the war, Igbos during the war and now it is hausas turn. ALL equal NO FIGHT. |
jason123: I agree. I am also Alj harem and sweetlemon!hmmmmmmm Jason |
Onlytruth: Are you serious with the bolded? lolLOL my brother, again you are selfish So you mean just because we have someone who is aspiring to be the president is Igbo ALL THE IGBOS IN NIGERIA WOULD vote for him based one that sentiment ? C'mon that is low thinking on your part. Onlytruth I don't want to go back in history to start explaining things to you which you already know because we have discussed this over and over again. |
Biafra4tharmy: Nigeria divided us in 1967 to break the might of Biafra resistance and sow the mortal seed of discord between brothers. Until the government re-addressed this issue;after GEJ the south east takes the next slot to aso rock.( however i'm more concern about Biafra)Hmmmmmm but Nigeria also divided the yorubas as well thanks to Nnamdi Azikwe. I can't recall yorubas being anger like this ![]() |
igbo2011: Isn't there a company in Nigeria that is like Shop rite and it's owned by a Nigerian? What is the name of that company?I can't think of any. Moreover my brother I am talking of a mega store Shoprite is just in some cities. I would prefer if an indignous own store in every single corner of the nation even to west africa etc |
jason123: Igbo go your own way! Yoruba do the same! Everyone else will find their square root! shikena!Nobody is going anywhere |
jason123: Guy, I dey enjoy as you dey make all of them paranoid!!!Dude they chose to be paranoid, not my fault ![]() |
Onlytruth: Nigeria will NEVER be like USA.Onlytruth you still have not changed with your selfish ideology about Nigeria. Nigeria can never and should never have an ethnic census because of the commotion it would cause. Let's think for a second. Imagine if an ethnic census is done today and Igbos are found to be the highest population. What does that mean to you ? Numeric strength ? or what Domination. Let's assume that Igbos are the most populous people in Nigeria what good is it ? Yes Eze, I support IDs for all Nigerians so we can identify ourselves but no ethnic name should be written on it. If you are a Nigerian then YOU ARE A NIGERIAN AND NOTHING ELSE biko. |
jason123: Alhaji has a very pretty wife! It would be nice you know |
dasparrow: Bad idea. I have seen the effects of what Walmart did to my city here in the states. First, they opened several walmart supercenters 10 - 15 minutes away from each other in key areas of town that are easily accessible by both public and personal transportation. Alot of grocery stores and small businesses started shuting down. When Walmart saw that they were able to beat the competition by sending their competitors outta business, they now jacked up their prices tremendously. You have said it all !!! |
Biafra4tharmy: i see . I wil be off to the USA in the next few month to join the USA army. Without much talk Nigeria wil go up in bloody flame when i'm ready. Unless she shattered before then. We Biafrans must pay the north for the pogrom of 1966. We shall never forget or forgive, light must prevail over darkness . And Zion over the sword of Jihad ![]() My guy, war no be moi moi o ! Being a solider is not all about killing what you see or hate. Let me remind you that once you join the US army, you are not coming back to Nigeria. Just like your uncle and those before you did. |
belvo: So we are then to assume that gej is now enjoying the iboman quota at aso rock,so therefore the presidency will now have to go round again b4 an ibo man will rule again.yoruba-hausa-iboAnother good talk. |
Onlytruth: You are shameless because you have your head stuck in the sand while people are dying in bomb attacks because a Northerner is not ruling Nigeria.Dude, those people killing are not different from area boys or "youths". Do you not see reason why we should work together and fight this plague ? Again The only reason why you, your likes and even me are bitter at times is because Nigeria is not as good as USA or so. My brother if Nigeria was an amazing country where dreams come true, You sir would not be talking like this |
Sweetlemon: Remember, we are not fighting a physical battle, what we are doing is a mental check, a reality check in which we tackle all those traits and behaviours in us which are more vulnerable to corruption. Plant love and respect for others in your heart and tell others about it. It won't be an easy ride, but one day, one of these days, we will surely get thereUnderstood, Although it would be a difficult task but we would get there. |
