Brixtonyute: The problem is that the Nigerian constitution is flawed! In a real federalism - the federal shouldn't be the one telling the states what they're entitled to - it should be the other way round. This clueless woman needs to shut the hell - how can you demand "fiscal federalism" - in a system, which operates everything BUT federalism - isn't that oxymoronic?

I still don't how some of these so-called "educated" managed to get beyond the four walls of a university. I think she's better off at the world bank; than taking Nigeria into abyss, with her voodoo economics.

Has any of you ever bothered to ask ur state governors how they spend ur money (this is d govt that is supposed to be closer to u)? This woman did not influence d subsidy remover but just because she's from d world bank many of us just assume it was her brain child and therefore hate her for it. Its not fair! As a matter of fact, it was d state governors that pressured GEJ to remove it.

Also, we keep talking of the FG saving money etc Now where is this money going to.

Why does our budget have upto 75 % reoccurring expenditure from last year ? How do they expect to save if 75 % is used to pay up last year's expenses ?

The 60 billion dollars OBJ left in the office is not about 30 or so billion if not less. What happened ?

She promised the money recovered from the fuel subsidy (which is also saving) would be used to provide this, provide that , where are the promises ?

Jarus: I disagree with outright stoppage of the system. It is part of their tradition; it should be respected and they should not be denied. But the system should be reformed, formalized with formal education going side by side with Islamic education for these children.

As a growing up kid in Kwara in early 90's, I also went to Arabic/Islamic school, of course in the evening for 1-2 hours after our regular, formal school. But the major difference is down south here, it is mostly on part-time basis except in some very few places, but in the north it is majorly permanent and full-time, most times the parents even forgetting their children in the hands of these local clerics.

Jarus, Islamic education is completely different and Aljmajiri way of life is completely different. As you said yourself when you were young, you went to your formal education school and also in the evening did 2 hours of Islamic education. Well that is alright, aljmajiri education does not give room for that sort of life style.

It demands the children carrying bowl and begging for money. This money would be given to the teacher so the children could find a place to sleep. There is no way you can reform it and mix in your type of education to it.

Why did IBB, Junid Mohammed, El-rufia etc children not go through Aljmajiri education if truly it is necessary. They are all in UK etc receiving Western education and they did not need to go through any aljmajiri education thing.
