Prophet P.F Owa, the founder of Christ Revival Miracle Centre (CREMIC), speaks on various issues regarding the present state of Nigeria, the 2011 elections and mysteries which shall be revealed in the nearest future as captured by Tayo Ogunleye. Prophet Peter Folorunso Owa is a servant of God whose predictions and prophecies must not be taken with levity. In the past, he had spoken about issues which came to pass. He predicted the death of Abacha, the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan. “I spoke about the ascension of Jonathan to presidency at a stadium in Ilorin. God also told me long time ago that General Ibrahim Babangida will not get to the presidency again,” Prophet Owa stated. “When late Pa Adedibu was going to die, God told me and I said on the pulpit that an araba tree was about to fall in Oyo. I was so convinced that I also went to his house to say it, so, I know when God is speaking to me.” Prophesies or predictions are events that are foretold before they ever materialise. Different men of God of varying degrees and anointing began the predictions of mysteries that characterise 2011, especially in the political terrain. While speaking with Tribune Features, Prophet Owa noted with disgust, the disheartening state of all forms of killings in the country. “It is disheartening to know that people are still killing themselves in the name of politics, in the name of ‘I must get there at all cost,” saying that God did not want us to be killing ourselves, adding that if God had killed us all, how would the so called leaders have had the opportunities to get to their leadership positions. He noted that God expected us to be truthful and fair to each other, adding that one of the bane of developments across all sectors, especially in politics is ‘greed’. “Our leaders will keep killing themselves if they do not do away with greed. “It will be recalled that, President Goodluck Jonathan, as reported in the Nigerian Tribune of Monday, January 3, 2011, had, during a visit to a church in Abuja, alleged the factor of greed as the bane of national development.” Prophet Owa also noted that though some politicians desired a free and fair election in the coming general election, some others are already devising evil ways to ensure turbulent elections. “God told me clearly that all those devising all manners of evil ways to get themselves to their desired positions would be disappointed. God also told me He would sanitise the governments of Oyo, Kwara and Ogun. The government that people do not expect will take up the mantle of leadership in these states,” Prophet Owa predicted, adding that his prediction about Osun State materialised barely eight days after he predicted it. On the frightening issues of bloodshed, the man of God, voicing out that there would be war and bloodshed, stated that only those who know God and serve him faithfully would be preserved from the troubles ahead. “The war I am talking about will be birthed by violence, by the desire of some unwanted persons to force themselves into positions of authority. But, as my God whom I serve and who has been using me told me that Nigeria would be visited to the least of authority. The Lord told me He would revamp the nation in a miraculous way and I am confident He will do this without anyone being able to challenge Him. He is the owner of heaven and the earth and does things the way they please Him, Prophet Owa stated. Prophet Owa also predicted that Nigeria would break into three soon, considering the manner in which things are going. “God told me Nigeria would break into three. It does not necessarily have to happen this year (2011), but it is not going to be long. The indicator for the split-up is manifesting gradually and it will come to pass. There is no amount of prayer that can stop this because it is the will of God and that is the only way lasting peace can be guaranteed in Nigeria. “It is not the case that God does not want the unity of Nigeria, but this has to happen because that is the way He has chosen it to be. God showed me this vision in 1969, when I was still very young. God showed me three crowns and when I asked Him what it meant, He told me Nigeria would split into three. God always stands by His word, and this is the only prediction among many that is waiting for fulfilment. With the trend of things at the moment, it is certain that the split-up is around the corner, he stated. Arewa, according to him, will stand as a nation, Oduduwa as a nation and one other as a nation.” The prophet noted that the peace Nigeria is experiencing today is owed to the ever enduring mercy of God. God is not happy with Nigeria because of the immeasurable immoral activities. “Pregnant women are used for rituals, blood of the innocents are shed for money making rituals. If all these evil men don’t change from their evil ways and turn to God, the judgment of God will come upon them. Honestly, God has been patient with this nation and it is high time we turned to God. We are bringing war upon ourselves through our sinful activities. It is only prayer that can save us from the anger of God. I can assure you that in all these troubles, the elect of God will be delivered,” he stated, adding that “with the help of the prayers of the servants of God, God can look down upon us with mercy.” Prophet Owa also predicted that President Goodluck Jonathan will win the 2011 election. Speaking about the election, he said even in the midst of troubles and devilish ochestrations, God will intervene and His will will be done. “It is God’s wish that Jonathan wins and he will. It is unfortunate that people don’t rever the servants of God. I believe it is time for the servants of God to pray for this nation; when the unbelievers see the power of God in the lives of these servants of God, they will bow to the supremacy of the power of God in their lives.” “When King Nebuchadnezzar, in his days, had a dream and could not understand its meaning, he called on his magicians and astrologers to tell him the dream he had and its interpretation, but no one could. But there was a man in whom was the spirit of God, Daniel, who was able to tell the dream and its interpretatioon. The king feared God when Daniel did this. So, even in our days, the power of God is still alive in His servants and this is why God shows us, His servants, things to come in the future,” adding that any servant of God who speaks and it does not come to pass, is not a true servant of God. Speaking further, Prophet Owa noted that some men of God are not respected because of theit lust for money. He posited that some acclaimed servants of God collect money from politicians, blinding their eyes from telling such politicians the truth. While speaking about the politics in America, Prophet Owa predicted that President Barack Obama would win the next election, adding that irrespective of the challenges and criticisms he is facing, he will serve a second term in office. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/features/15750-prophet-owas-bombshell-nigeria-ll-break-into-three |
AS security men continue to make efforts to halt the fresh crisis that engulfed the city of Jos on Saturday, silent killings are still going on in some parts of the city while more houses were burnt in the early hours of Sunday. Nigerian Tribune learnt that after peace returned to Jos after about five hours of skirmishes on Saturday, some groups of youths in various parts of the state capital resorted to secret killings, burying the victims in shallow graves or dumping them at the road sides in the night. Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulrahaman Akano, said there were several reports of secret killings, adding that both sides on the dispute were guilty of the silent killings. Akano further stated that some houses were burnt in the early hours of Sunday at Agwan Doki in Jos South Local Government Area of the state, adding that some group of irate youths set houses of people ablaze while the occupants were away. Meanwhile, Izu Umunna Cultural Association, Nigeria, a Jos-based Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has condemned Saturday’s violence in Jos, warning that Igbo in Jos would no longer fold their hands and watch the blood of innocent Igbo men and women being spilled on the streets of Jos in the guise of crisis. According to a statement signed by the president of the group, Professor Zebulon Okoye and secretary general, Chief Elvis Chukwu, which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Jos, the association said enough was enough. In another development, some people were, on Sunday, feared injured, while about 50 vehicles were destroyed as two rival cult groups clashed at Palmgroove area of Lagos State. The clash, which reportedly started around 2.00 a.m, threw the entire residents of the area into panic. Spokesperson of the state police command, Frank Mba, confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, adding that the police in the state were on top of the situation in the area. Meanwhile, no fewer than 16 people, including students of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), on Sunday, lost their lives in an auto accident which occurred on the Ibadan-Abeokuta road. The accident, the Nigerian Tribune gathered, involved two commercial Liteace buses, as a result of bush burning which caused a thick blanket of smoke that prevented the drivers from seeing oncoming vehicles. The charred bodies of the victims littered the ground, as sympathisers, who thronged to scene of the incident, were in tears, while others wailed. An eyewitness told the Nigerian Tribune that while one of the buses was heading for Ibadan from Abeokuta with a full load of passengers, the other, which was said to have picked its passengers at Omi-Adio, Ibadan garage, was heading for Kila Market, in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State. Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and state fire service were seen at the spot of the accident, battling to retrieve the burnt bodies from the wrecked buses. Four people, including a three-year boy, survived the accident. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/15903-killings-continue-in-jos-as-violence-rocks-lagos-16-burn-to-death-on-ibadan-abeokuta-road |
Former Ekiti State governor, Chief Olusegun Oni, has described claims by former Lagos State governor, Chief Bola Tinubu, that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was planning to get him incarcerated because of his role in the installation of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governors in the South-West through the judiciary as an assault on the collective intellects of Nigerians. He added that “Tinubu and his likes are only being pursued by their fraudulent shadows.” Oni, in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre, said it was insulting for anyone to claim that the attorney-general and minister of justice was being put under pressure to “look for any offence, no matter how flimsy” to victimise Chief Tinubu. The former governor, who also alleged that he was aware of a plot by Tinubu and his hawks to assassinate him, said: “They held a meeting in Lagos a few days ago where it was agreed that noose should be tightened against Chief Segun Oni for his stance on the mafia being led by Tinubu.” He, however, declared that no amount of threat, blackmail and intimidation would stop him from rising against the mafia that was threatening the existence of Nigeria as a sane country, saying, “this time round, we are no longer going to keep quiet and allow this mafia the freedom to purchase the soul of Nigeria. If we do, we will all have ourselves to blame because then, they will rape or even kill our wives and if we go to court, nothing will happen because it is their men that will be met there.” Calling on security agencies in the country not to treat Tinubu’s claim that he was being targeted for assassination with levity, Oni said: “We all know the way this mafia operates. When they want to kill someone, they will be the first to raise the alarm that someone is after their lives.” http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/15890-tinubu-is-only-crying-wolf-oni |

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unanimously adopted the principle of zoning and fixed tenure for the next political dispensation in the state to promote a sense of belonging by all. Under the unanimous arrangement, the governorship slot would now be rotated among the three senatorial districts for a fixed term of four years starting with Kwara South Senatorial District for the next political dispensation. This decision was arrived at by the party on Friday during an emergency meeting of all PDP aspirants in the state and other stakeholders of the party with the state governor, Dr Bukola Saraki, in Ilorin. Going by the principle of zoning as adopted by the party, all governorship aspirants from the Kwara Central Senatorial District then withdrew from Sunday primaries with immediate effect and pledged their loyalty to the party as well. Among the aspirants that withdrew ahead of the party’s primaries were Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem; Alhaji Abdul-Rasaq Atunwa and Alhaji Folorunsho Ayinla, all from Kwara Central senatorial district. Speaking at the meeting, the state governor and leader of the party, Dr Bukola Saraki, said the decision on zoning and tenure was arrived at in order to ensure a good sense of belonging for all and allowed the party to remain united. His word:”I believe that as a party, we must take certain position in order to ensure a sense of belonging and also fairness, equity and everlasting unity among us all”. According to him, to ensure that the party remained united, Kwara Central, having produced governor for an upward of 12 years, it was only logical to leave the slot for both Kwara North and South in the spirit of fair play, justice and equity. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/15898-kwara-pdp-adopts-zoning-fixed-tenure-for-political-office-holders |
Nenadi Usman wins in Kaduna SPEAKER of Borno State House of Assembly, Goni Ali Modu, was yesterday defeated along with 19 other members of the state House of Assembly at the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) primary elections. Out of the 130 aspirants vying for the State House of Assembly seats, only eight serving members of the Assembly were returned at the primaries. Besides, Goni was at the weekend beaten up by a mob at the primaries. Announcing the primary election results in Maiduguri, the ANPP screening committee chairman, Zannah Mallum Gana, said although the primary elections were conducted peacefully, only eight or 14 per cent of the 28-member Assembly were returned in the polls. In Kaduna, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates from the Kaduna North Senatorial zone at the weekend returned former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming National Assembly elections. Also, a former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Nenadi Usman, defeated an incumbent Senator, Caleb Zagi, for the Southern Kaduna Senatorial ticket. At the Kaduna Central Senatorial zone, another incumbent Senator, Mohammmed Kabir Jibril, lost his bid to return to the Senate to a former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund, Yusuf Abubakar. In Plateau State, Dr. Dauda Gowon defeated incumbent Senator Satty Gogwim in the Plateau Central Senatorial primaries of the PDP. The incumbent, Senator Gyang Dantong defeated former Delta State Military Administrator, Col. John Dungs (rtd) in Plateau North Senatorial District while Mr. Victor Lar won the party’s ticket in Plateau South Senatorial District. Lar will now have to slug it out with Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni (rtd) the candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) and Senator Shagaya, who has dumped the PDP for the Labour Party (LP), in the general elections. Miss Beni Lar, daughter of former Governor, Solomon Lar, who is currently a member of the House of Representatives on the platform of the PDP was returned unopposed during the primaries. In Kano, two members of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Muazzam (Bichi) and Yunusa Imawa (Warawa/Dawakin Kudu) have lost their re-election bids in the ANPP primaries held in the state. The two lawmakers lost their seats to Alhaji Lawal Shehu and former chairman of the Dawakin Kudu Local Council, Adamu Gano, according to secretary of the party’s primaries committee in Kano State, Livinus Nwambe. But Speaker of the Kano House of Assembly, Abdulazeez Gafasa, secured his ticket to seek re-election. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=35055:mob-attacks-borno-speaker-at-anpp-primaries&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |
Ex-president meets rivals FORMER president Olusegun Obasanjo has been appointed the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) special envoy to Cote d’Ivoire. Presidential Spokesman, Ima Niboro, confirmed the appointment, saying it was to advance the quick resolution of the crisis arising from the November 28 presidential elections. According to Niboro, “yes, it is true. Former president Obasanjo is ECOWAS special envoy to Cote d’Ivoire.” Obasanjo played a leading role from 2000 to 2005 in resolving crises. Meanwhile, in line with his new role, Obasanjo has visited Cote d’Ivoire, and held a private meeting with the country’s defiant president Laurent Gbagbo in a final effort to get him to cede power after losing the recent election. Associated Press (AP) was present when Obasanjo arrived at the Pullman Hotel surrounded by bodyguards. He declined to comment and was whisked away to his suite on the hotel’s 9th floor, where he spent around an hour before re-emerging to head to the presidential palace. Gbagbo has remained in office, insisting that he won – a victory handed to him by the head of the constitutional council, a member of his inner circle, who cancelled votes from his opponent’s strongholds. The spokesman for Alassanne Ouattara, who is considered to be the legitimate president-elect after results issued by the electoral commission, said that Obasanjo came to meet with Ouattara immediately after leaving the palace. Ali Coulibaly, the spokesman, said that Obasanjo saw both leaders a second time yesterday. The international community has been unanimous in recognising Ouattara as the winner of the election because the results issued by the electoral body were certified by the United Nations (UN) in accordance with a 2005 peace deal. The UN sent over 900 observers who fanned out across the country to watch as the votes were cast and who later reviewed results poll station-by-poll station. While Gbagbo continues to occupy the presidential palace, Ouattara has been forced to live in a hotel guarded by some 800 UN troops. Over Christmas, Gbagbo’s troops sealed the exits to the hotel and refuse to let anyone in or out. Reporters and diplomats, as well as provisions, are brought in to him via a UN helicopter that lands on the hotel’s lawn. So far, four African presidents have come in to see Gbagbo, but all attempts at mediation have failed. He is now being threatened by the 15-member regional bloc of West African countries known as ECOWAS, which has warned that if he does not step down he could face a military ouster. A close adviser to Ouattara said that Obasanjo is coming to carry a message from the government of Nigeria, whose current president is the chairman of ECOWAS. The bloc is scheduled to meet soon to decide whether or not to go ahead with a military intervention. The adviser said that Obasanjo – a former military strongman – carries weight when matters of force are in question. “In diplomacy you can say things very nicely. Or you can say it by being mean. He is here to say it in the mean way,” said the senior aide to Ouattara, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter. With every passing weeks since the election, the international community has turned up the heat on Gbagbo, including slapping a visa ban on him and 50 of his closest associates, barring them from travelling to Europe and the United States (U.S.). He has turned his back on the world, and even refused to take telephone calls from U.S. President Barack Obama, who tried at least twice to call him from Air Force One, according to the State Department. Experts say the only way to make him leave may be through force, but observers question whether the military arm of ECOWAS has the manpower and the sophistication to carry out a so-called ‘decapitation strike.’ A second issue is whether ECOWAS will go ahead with a move that could lead to mass casualties. The lynchpin in the decision is Nigeria, which has one of the largest standing forces in the region and whose troops have been sent to intervene in other regional conflicts including the Liberian civil war. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=35057:ecowas-names-obasanjo-special-envoy-to-cote-divoire&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |
