Politics › Re: Sanusi Lamido Faults Sir Olaniwun Ajayi On Northern Domination by aljharem(m): 3:42am On Nov 05, 2010 |
adconline: @Marvix ,do you know what Sanusi said in 1999 when Obj was made president go to the link Jarus provided, Sanusi attacked his people from the north for denying Ekhueme the presidency by conniving with the Yorubas to see the Ekhuemes presidency as a biafran agenda and then preached compensation for Abiola as a reason why the presidency should go to the Yorubas, but guess what the Northerners then laid aside all rules to ensure Obj became president, now all rules laid by them will also be set aside to allow a Niger Deltan become president in 2011.
Sanusi is a detribalised Nigerian with a mind of his own, he is a very fair commentator who would not fabricate information to win an arguement
This guy argues with emotions not fact. That North was denied access to education by the Brits? The same Brits that fell in love with North because of their indirect rule. The same Brits that lived in the north? The same North that was represented by Sarduana, Belawa and Co? There was nothing Sokoto Caliphate or Fulani front in the way "north" presented itself in Naija's political history. The same north that opposed Tony Enahoro's motion for independence? Did you read Akanu Ibiam's letter to the Brits during the war? Back to my point, it's only in Sanusi's mind that a minister can overrule his boss; never mind the point that IBB was a blood thirsty general in Naija Army. He implied that Olu Falae and Idika Kalu could have overruled IBB. He is holding brief for the entrenched political elite from the north. The Brits went away 50yrs ago and he's still making excuses for the political class who has not allowed their peers access to education. He premise was that southerners dominated power like northerners. This guy does not know what a priori statement means; because the northern class dominated Nigerian political more than any other region in the country. His inequality of thought is mind blowing; because he, SLS is holding bank CEOs responsible for the havoc they wrecked on Naija’s banking system, but failed to see IBB as a CEO who presided over a conglomerate called Nigeria. Why didn’t he-SLS- hold Chief Financial Officers of the troubled banks responsible instead of their CEOs? gbam |

chyz: I see where you are coming from. However, as far as awolowo, i will never regard him as a man, although i respect his passion for his people. A real man doesn't have the accounts of others emptied out clean. A real man doesn't prescribe starvation of innocent people who had nothing to do with the war. That was a bytch move. He didn't even use the stolen money to develop his people's land instead he shared the money amongst elites. His family dynasty was built off of the blood, sweat, and tears of the igbo. He indeed did have doe before he did that but could never have bought and started all of those businesses with out the stolen Igbo money. His children and grandchildren should thank the Igbo. Although I do not blame his actions on the yoruba. I hold him solely responsible.
As far as the Ijaws and spoils of war. It's one thing is they were not fighting with the Igbos but they were fighting alongside the Igbo so that was a sissy move. Changing the names of some of the areas to Ijaw names to erase our claim and history.smh. Anyway we are slowly getting our land back so it's all good. that is why i love the igbo ppl there ability to work and stand back on there feet makes them unique and special among all the tribes and ethnic group in africa except from kunirs, hausa-fulani, yorubas. GOD bless the igbo nation and NIgeria as a whole. |

chyz: Ask what? something I already know?LOL. There was no South, SW,SE, or SS. There was East, West, and North. Midwest came later on because they felt they were being marginalized my the yoruba.Awolowo was the Premier of the Western region, meaning he hand made no decisions for the East, Midwest, or North. Is it starting to make sense to you now or should i hand you a light bulb? so u think i don't know that there was sw north and se i said i was there during the war, in kaduna. there was tribal tension, but the war stated when ojukwu declared biafra. boy i know what am saying ur parents during the war that are in dispora are feeding u with hate and lies. Onlytruth: All we got from Awo was starvation and N20. That's all. how did he use starvation didn't u know that the ijaws and itsekiris were the ones that staved u. or do u think if they were not in surpport of the awo policies, u would have imported weapon and food by the water ways do u know that the edo ppl were the ones crying for the nigerian army to help them from this invasion by the liberation army of biafra do u know that alot of edo and ijaws were killed by this liberation amry thanks to ojukwu |

Beaf: Nigeria deports 700 immigrants in sect crackdown MAIDUGURI, Nigeria | Thu Nov 4, 2010 9:30pm IST
MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (Reuters) - Hundreds of immigrants have been deported from northern Nigeria back to neighbouring countries as part of a security crackdown on a radical Islamic sect, a senior immigration official said on Thursday.
Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have been blamed for torching police stations and carrying out fatal sniper attacks on police officers and local officials in the remote northeast of Africa's most populous country.
Around 700 migrants from Niger, Cameroon and Chad have been expelled amid fears the sect may be drawing members from outside Nigeria, said Babayo Alkali, the top immigration official in Maiduguri, capital of the northeastern state of Borno.
"With the recent security threat in the state and approaching election, we had to embark on an exercise to clear the state of all illegal aliens," Alkali said.
"Some foreigners were implicated in the Boko Haram security breach so we had to act," he said.
Alkali said those deported, some of whom said they were visiting relatives, had been found to lack the necessary paperwork to stay in Nigeria. He did not say whether they had been found to have any links with Boko Haram.
Boko Haram is calling for sharia (Islamic law) to be implemented across Nigeria, a country of 140 million people that is roughly divided into a mostly Christian south and largely Muslim north. A dozen northern states have introduced the religious code over the last decade.
The sect first gained wide attention last July, when it launched an uprising in Maiduguri that led to clashes with security forces in which up to 800 people were killed.
RETALIATION
Some northern Nigerians say the recent resurgence in violence is a form of revenge against the authorities. Police officers, government officials and traditional leaders have been killed in a wave of attacks that began in August.
Nigeria is due to hold a fiercely contested presidential election within the next six months and security concerns are high. Some northern factions within the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) are opposed to the candidacy of President Goodluck Jonathan, who is a southern Christian.
The dusty and impoverished north is not the only area of concern.
There are also fears that an amnesty for rebel groups in the oil-producing Niger Delta, hundreds of kilometres away on the country's southern coast, is starting to fray.
The amnesty has brought more than a year of relative peace in a region where militants had for years attacked oil facilities and kidnapped Nigerian and foreign employees of firms including Royal Dutch Shell and Exxon Mobil.
