Awolowo was the greatest Yorubaman of recent memory. My father's side of the family likely would have had a much more difficult time paying for school if it hadn't been for him. His self-sacrifice and love of his people (actually, not only his own people, but all those in the Western Region and Nigeria more generally) is still yielding dividends today. Such foresight, wisdom, and intelligence. Truly a great man. In the Yoruba pantheon of heros, no one is greater.

There is nothing wrong with Yoruba people moving to Yorubaland. Heck, you can be of Yoruba descent from Brazil or Cuba and move here, if you like.

And if people from the Chad Republic etc want to move to Northern Nigeria, that is OK, so long as the residents there are fine with it. Of course, the problem is that Northern Nigeria is never their final destination, they want to move to the south to beg and commit crime. The whale washed up on Wednesday at Lagos' Bar Beach. By the time reporters arrived on Friday, throngs of people were scavenging the remaining few bones just visible on the edge of the surf.

Gangs of youths wielding clubs and sticks were forcing a steady stream of scavengers and curious bystanders – mainly workers from office blocks in the Victoria Island suburb – to pay an "admission charge" to look. Women and boys hawked pieces of the fatty flesh.

"The meat is good," said JJ Ibrahim, who offered pieces wrapped in magazine pages. "Most of it is gone, so you better buy fast."

It was unclear whether the whale was alive when it arrived.

Although Nigeria has oil wealth, the vast majority of its people remain desperately poor. In Lagos, a rough-and-tumble city with some 13 million inhabitants, meat is expensive because it is often imported from Europe.

you have not understood south -south are crying for!!! they also love nigeria but we cannot, i repeat cannot just depend on them for our wealth when we have untapped resources elsewhere.

also, we (north and south) cannot take destroy their environment, take their means of livelihood and expect them not to react!!! it is not possible. instead of feeling disappointed, take you time to read what they are agitating for, visit ND (if you have time) and know what is going on.

also, if it was the north that had the resources the ND has, you and i know that the north would have been agitating for separation or the conversion of every nigerian into muslim

They hate our children, they hate our women, they hate our religion, they hate everything about us. Why must we remain together? Why must we continue to use their resources on their homelands?
