PoliticsRe: The Igbo Problem by Almaheed(op): 2:28pm On Jul 23, 2017

But you can't change people ...

I have learned to accept Igbos for who they are.

look at the western world.. their culture and religion is constantly evolving.. that is like the panacea for development.

While Northern Nigeria are very conservative... they try as much as possible to retain their culture and heritage and avoid western influence ... but from the look of things those that clinge to culture are worst of...

while northern political class train all their children abroad... and encourage them to drop the Arewa mentality and accept western culture.
we have all accepted the Igbo's for who they are, they are our brothers and sisters we share relatives, and blood lines have mixed. but the Igbo's need to understand that there is a fundamental problem when you begin to look at everybody as your enemy, you fight the northerners the westerners everyone that is not Igbo and you expect them to just look and watch... all other tribes have accepted the Igbo's into their community to do business, go across the federating state you would see that the Igbo man thrives with is business....why should the core easterners then begin to throw tantrum and start labeling every other tribes names, why should that be? tl

Igbo's lack a common voice of reason but would always rally behind anarchist and fifth columnist, as much as I agree with their agitations I find the means more troubling because they undermine reason and logic when you say all Igbo's should return to the east what about those who have mixed families, inter marriage between the Igbo trader and host community have existed for over 60years. let the Igbo's who live in the east think things through before they cause a problem they can't solve

There is no problem with the Igbo, the problem is with Nigeria and their attempts to moderate the way the Igbos think. We are who we are, and we are not stopping others from being who they are.
of course the problem is with Nigeria, but there is also an Igbo problem which some certain elements among the Igbo community tend to carry around then anywhere they go, as much as they are the well traveled and industrious tribe in Nigeria they tend to undermine social values and cultures and constituted authority. this started because they themselves chose to disregard their own traditions and customs which as been cancerous to their existence as a Nation of people. which has brought about their relegation in the Nigeria political calculations

look at the message, it was coined from chinua Achebe troubles with Nigeria... are the facts not there in your face there is really an underlying problem with the Igbo's polity that need to be addressed but you would rather stick to hate and illogical assertions
PoliticsRe: The Igbo Problem by Almaheed(op): 1:00pm On Jul 23, 2017
the Igbo people have lost their heritage, although some of them know the truth but there is a whole lot of them who are truth resistant. they would rather clinge to the narrative that best suit their interest or what they think their interest is...

what did they don with the ecological fund, that was suppose to be a buffer for this crisis. truth be told we the citizens allowed this to happen
PoliticsThe Igbo Problem by Almaheed(op): 12:11pm On Jul 23, 2017
there is no doubt in my mind that the competitive individualism and the adventurous spirit of the Igbo are necessary ingredients in the modernization and development of Nigerian society. it is neither necessary or, nor impossible to suppress them. Nigeria without the inventiveness and the dynamism of the Igbo would be a less hopeful place than it is.

however, the real problem with the Igbo since independence is precisely the absence of the kind of central leadership which other ethnic groups presume for them. this lack has left them open to self seeking, opportunistic, leaders who offer no help at all in coping with a polarised Nigeria in which individual progress would no longer depend on the rules set by a very partial federal system.

The lack of real leaders in igboland goes back, of course, to the beginning of colonial administration. once the white man had crushed Igbo resistance it was relatively easy for him to locate upstarts and ruffians in the community who would uphold is regime at the expense of their own people. from those days the average Igbo leaders mentality has not been entirely free of the collaborating " WARRANT CHIEF SYNDROME"

The bankrupt state of Igbo leadership is best illustrated in the alacrity with which they have jettisoned their "TRADITIONAL REPUBLICANISM' (which meant self confidence engendered by their open society and their belief that one man is as good as another, that no condition is permanent) in favor of mushroom kingships. from having no kings in their recent past the Igbo's swung round to set an all time record of having kings in every region of Nigeria( Eze ndigbo of Lagos, eze ndigbo of jos, eze ndigbo of Kano etc ) spiralling republic clans in anambra, IMO, Enugu, into a neo monarchy system!! And most of them are traders in their stall by day and monarchs by night: city dwellers five days a week and traditional village rulers by the weekend.

The degree of travesty to which the Igbo man is apparently ready to reduce his institutions in his eagerness " to get up" can be truly amazing. At first this weakness might appear only as a private problem for the Igbo themselves. But an indifference to non material values( culture, traditional institution) which the Igbo's portrays might spill over into a carelessness and a disregard for the feelings of sacredness which other ethnic group hold for their own institutions. and there is a grave danger of social friction in this, which as occurred overtime.

So it becomes necessary that while Nigeria is at the delicate, touch and go stage of national evolution, the Igbo must learn less abrasiveness,
more shrewdness and tact and a willingness to grant the validity of less boisterous values.

Don't mind the ode. I just read that the flood killed two people in Anambra and some child of hate and anger are here posting trash. The flood is a national disaster. States and FG need to take massive measures
ecological funds come to mind, what did they do to it? this is what you get when riff Raff's and miscreants are places in positions of influence. lagosians tell yourself the truth, wake up tinubu and his stooges as milked us dry, Lagos as the biggest GDP per city in the whole of Africa and we look like a third world slum. no next generation development, what happened to the fourth mainland bridge, what is happening at the Lagos Abeokuta expressway how many kilometers is that road that they have been working on it for almost two years and no visible result in sight....the over bloated budgets on this projects am so ashamed for the lagosian. we claim that we are the most sophisticated but we are being ruled by Tinubu and is clan, when would the eyes of lagosians open

PoliticsRe: Agitation For Restructuring And Federalism (the Nigerian Youths) by Almaheed: 6:36am On Jul 19, 2017
I believe restructuring means a lot of things to different people across boards, but the Paramount thing I would envisage is an halt to the Nigerian government and governance like a two weeks retreat where every Nigerian would come out and lay his or her own problems. the rot is systemic that is why we need a very strong agitation to make Nigeria great again
PoliticsWhat You Should Know About Lagos Floods by Almaheed(op): 6:25am On Jul 19, 2017
Last week, we got a look at just how much of an infrastructural failure Lagos - and Nigeria, as a whole - really is. Non-stop rain rolled back the false layer of wealth and civilization to reveal the sad state of where we live - Nigeria's economic capital has no drainage and becomes submerged when one of the most natural phenomenon in the world occurs - rain.

Lagos - the Island and Lekki, more than others - was flooded, people lost their valuables and incurred unprecedented expenses and most importantly, the citizens, who the government should be protecting, had their safety compromised. But with Lagos' drainage system mostly non-existent, flooding has become an experience that we normalized.

however I would like to state here the major causes of this flash floods and as the Nigerian meteorological agency claims more is yet to come.

1. Global warming. the effect of global warming is seen as the rise in water level and the continuous downpour of rain, Lagos, picked up generally 3.9 to 5.9 inches of rain July 2-8 which resulted to the flood.

2. Eko Atlantic city.Eko Atlantic, the 5-mile new city that is supposed to be the saviour of Lagos' economy. Eko Atlantic was built by dredging and filling more than six miles worth of land in the Atlantic.a sea wall was built around it to protect it from the surrounding Atlantic and its “worst storms.” this wall built to protect eko Atlantic have left the remaining part of low level areas in Lagos very vulnerable and susceptible to flood, since water as to finds its level.

3.POOR infrastructure and infrastructure maintenance, lack of credible infrastructure to maintain events such as floods does not abound in Lagos and also Lagos is known as the center of excellency as well as a center for indecency, the cultural decadent of the average lagosians to just throw dirt's anywhere as left drainages blocked and canals non functional, this resulted in water not flowing properly through its right channels

4.also, one must note that poor planning structure on the Lagos island added to the flood, places which are meant to be flood plains where water is supposed to find its level as been turned to megastructure and shopping malls, illegal structures and poor housing plans, the elite arrogance of "we would sandfill it" on the island is instrumental to this event

in my humble opinion this is just the beginning of the floods in Lagos island, due to global warming this events are going to reoccur more often and I don't think the Lagos state government as the capacity to manage it for now.

PoliticsRe: Yorubas Destabilizing Buhari's Government With FFK And Fayose ...Arewa Youths by Almaheed: 1:07am On Jul 15, 2017
BlowBack:
This here is why afonjas keep dragging biafra matter with IPOB and keep mentioning Kanu in every thread.

The reason for yoruba busy body over biafra is because they are avoiding the main match with their Lords and masters from the north.

Awusa sack yorubas in mile 12, next day yorubas carry placard asking for igbos to leave lagos.

Awusa sack Ife, yorubas went on social media to vent their frustrations on Igbos.

It is obvious that afonjas obsession over biafra has to do with frustrations of being left with their sokoto sultan

Weak
instead of you to read between the lines and present a constructive answer you resorted to toe along the line of tribal bigotry and ethnic coloration for cheap likes on nairaland, of course you are the ideal IBO man

let me tell you the truth as myopic you people are here on nairaland especially does of you that clamor for Biafra, the actualization of your course can only be possible with the help of your southern brothers. deep down you know it but you all seem to turn the blind eyes and continuing chest beating, well educated IBO's I know actually know this and they always bring logical assertions to political discuss, they know politics is about permutation and interest, and they understand that the south as to be united with the middle belt. except for you shallow minded bigots on nairaland who always throw tantrums for cheap likes....pardon me I have to throw in some insults because you don't seem to understand the dynamics of the country you are living in

back to the topic AYF has revealed itself they are the handy work of the cabals they have been talking about in aso rock, they have revealed their true color, they don't speak for the north they speak for the elites, yes the elites they include southerners too they are not all northerners they are the one holding all of us to ransom, who in is right mind would still have faith in buhari after he has failed every well meaning Nigerian

let's call a spade a spade AYF is a political tool whose sole gain is to keep power for the northern elite, what as the northern presidency done to the north only their crony's are living larger than life on tax payers money and severe poverty is ravaging the north look at zamfara for God's sake you see little kids eating from dustbins and fathers sell their daughter for the next meal. only in the north would you see severe poverty!!!

fellow nairalanders the earlier we stop this tribal bigotry and face real policies that affect our day to day lives the better for us, every region is poor most especially the north yet this anarchist called AYF still want power to remain in the north. what is the logic behind this wicked insinuations of afonjas and Igbos when in the real sense this ethnic coloration was brought by the elite to divide us so that they could lord over the Masse's and keep us fighting each other while they share our commonwealth on a weekly basis.

please be wise.

taraba people be careful, I know you people proud yourself as great warriors but the Fulani people are using the media to win public sympathy with this images they are coming for you people with full force and they would use this news are reference.

its time the Fulani man abolish nomadic farming and embrace modern techniques which are more productive, actually people of other region should start grooming their own meat...don't forget the British are behind this people we need to be careful with the Fulani man

wow, very brilliant analysis. all you said are true regarding president buhari, he failed all of us we expected a much more improvement than what was obtained in the previous government but what do we have here, a total disaster. am glad is four year tenure is almost done we can put a reset to all of this madness in the country its so devastating what Nigerians are facing now. there is so much hardship due to PMB wrong policies, actions and inactions. apparently we failed ourselves if this man his our leader.
PoliticsRe: To My Fellow Igbos :say No To Hate by Almaheed: 10:40am On Jul 12, 2017
op this is a very laudable post, I totally agree with you. indeed you have seen the counter comments on your post the hate speeches and inhumane rhetorics of ipob members. of course every ethnic group as the right to self actualization but it shouldn't be done via hate speeches and rhetorics. you see one of the comments above that was listing how IBO's have been killed but forgets that's in recent times the middle belt has faced more massacre from the Fulani herdsman than any other ethnic group, nonetheless do you see them spill so much hate like the IBO's NO!!....

obviously not all IBO's subscribes to NK hate speeches but am appealing to his followers to be careful because we are all sitting in a keg of gunpowder and one wrong move or wrong speech can trigger a tragic disaster, since the Kaduna declaration did you hear ipob members shouting for war, but I know some still harbor the thought for those harboring their warmongering thoughts look at Syria, Mosul, Aleppo, raqqa they are in ruins, do you want same for Biafra land??

for those clamoring for Biafra its pertinent to note that every Nigerian that does not belong to the ruling class or the elite is marginalized. everyone is marginalized even the north that you hate so much as the highest case of poverty and retrograde, all region is marginalized SE,SW,SS,NW,NE,NC, we are all in the same boat truth be told. the system is corrupt. if the effort you put into Biafra is channeled towards making our leaders pay for their past sins and corrupt practices we sure would have a Nationwide standstill by now, and we would renegotiate for our dividend of democracy. I have even come to realize that those that claim Biafra are even in support of people that looted the treasury from the previous government look at the support that they give to GEJ, MAMA PEACE, DIEZANI etal they scream ethnic slur of selective witch hunt but fail to look at the bigger picture that are they guilty in the first place??

.... abeg who is not marginalizedhuh the same thing NK is fighting against that is the same institution he is building, institutions of ethnicity and tribal chauvinism... NK is a tribal bigot and an ethnic chauvinist calling other tribes as animals and unprintable words....apparently the buhari administration didn't handle the issue properly, but people from the east should be wise and do the needful...you must be constructive and adhere to the rule of law and nature so your cause would be justified.

very insightful into the world of metaphysics and the I admire the way he balanced it with empirical notions of how the complexity of the universe can only originate from an intelligent source I.e God.

philosophers have over the years argued against the existence of God especially the Americans with their logic and pragmatism but whatever fact they tend to point out only leads towards the absolute being. how would you object that the source of life in the universe exist by a LUCKY CHANCE purported by the big bang theory.... apparently something is wrong with the atheist.

and I wonder how one can be African and still be an atheist I don't just get that logic. with all the spiritual forces in the land. African atheist are uncle Tom's who would copy any shit the white man gives to them, if you see one always shame him

PoliticsRe: 10 Positive Things That Would Quickly Happen If Nigeria Restructures... by Almaheed: 10:32pm On Jul 09, 2017
God I love this topic, someone thinking about the positive side of restructuring, although it might seem impossible but this is the kind of country we all want to belong to. when all region can develop at their own pace. thereby reducing the rot at the center

however I would like to add that our political system as to change also the manner at which we elect our officials. I mean how expensive how electioneering process is when a governor spends over 5billion naira to be in office do you expect him not to cash back from is investment. we must make public office less attractive where are school teacher could be governor so far he has the good will of the people.

I feel restructuring would make each region competitive and it would enable people of each region hold their leaders accountable when they see the positive growth of another region and theirs lacking. apparently restructuring seem much ambiguous let's call it the RESET when a constitution is written based on the people's will.

it we the youth that can make this happen and it starts with our immediate environment. one love

Nigeria is a terrible country with no bright future , yet you still want to remain in it? Tell me another lie. You are in Nigeria because your people are the major benefactors of this forced unity. Example let oil from the south cease to run , and suddenly north strikes oil in commercial quantity, I am very sure you wouldn't want to have anything to do with the south. How do you explain this?
of course you have a valid point, but have you wondered that the north has even suffered more at the hands of their leaders too. the problem is the elite and illiteracy ... everyone is marginalized at some point either by the quota system or the tribal favoritism. my point is we need to go back to the negotiating table as a nation all this grievances we have now as been address by the national conference of 2005 and 2014. if how leaders were sincere they would take the recommendations of this conference and put it to good use.

on NK he is a fraud a product of the elite and he won't stop until his ego is massaged yo chaos, I fear he might do worse things and then it would be too late for the IBO's, he reeks of hate and no good leader preaches hate.
