Gurus in the house! Who has had experience with this?
One or two of my laying birds usually shout out load at night. When we get to the pen, we find them lying and unable to walk. After observing them we don't discover any wound or blood stain. We searched the pen thoroughly yesterday immediately after the incident but didnt find anything. What could be the problem?

1. I have been experiencing wet litter for about 2 weeks now. please what can I do to prevent this? (deep litter). My birds (470) consume about 140 liters of water everyday.
2. They are 24 weeks currently and still giving me 44% production. Is this normal? as I started feeding them with 50kg Hybrid from 18 weeks.

Please I need your help!
I am a first time farmer. My birds started dropping @ 18 weeks and uptill now (22weeks+) they are still below 20%(about 19%). They are well fed, consuming 50kg a day on the average. Earlier on, I noticed a problem with the laying frequency. I observed that they lay once in 48hrs i.e those birds that started laying first. What could be the problem? They are on deep litter and recently when I changed to layer mash the litter is wet most of the time. I need advice pls

I have done that already(deworming). Am not sure about the ventilation. Am actually using a normal room, ceiled, (10x10m), double opposite windows, (3x3m) each, per 100birds with no vents..is this okay? Or?

when did you debeak them ie at what age in weeks please note debeaking wil affect their feed consumption drastically

I Debeaked them on the 12th week. Because they began to peck each other.

If water intake is normal and the girls are doing/looking good health-wise,then I suggest you place them on antibiotics for three days and multivitamins for a week+

Thank you Menama! I gave them antibiotics for 3 days already. Someone suggested I give them B-complex for 3 days, currently on the second day and the intake is improving. Just as you have instructed, I will give them multivitamins for 7 days and see how it goes from there. Thanks again!

They look very healthy! I actually switched from giving them 35kg at week 15 to 50kg at 16..i expect them to finish it n fight for more just like they did before I had them debeaked.

Farm Gurus in the house! Please help me on this one. My 18 weeks birds are not eating well. They are 480 in number and can't consume up to 50kg in one day. They have plenty of feed remaining in their troughs at the end of the day.

Many thanks for your swift reply. I think aside the funding I am expecting which will be more than enough, I have got no job........From bachelors to PhD.... I will be able to show proof of landed properties of my retired parents. However, I don not know if this will be convincing enough to make the VO believe I will be coming back? It all depends on how I present my case.

If they are on vitamins, it happens. But if otherwise, try treating cocci.

P.S from my lil experience

*Yes, they are deep littered.

*Not presently, I gave vitamins + antibiotics from Tuesday through to Friday because they were stress as a result of debeaking and weren't feeding well.

* I treated cocci early this month.

I noticed my 16 weeks old POL birds passing some pasty brown dropping. They look very healthy. I have been following their vaccination plan religiously, treat coccidiosis once a month. Please what could be the cause? What can I do to restore normalcy?
PS: I noticed this with about 30% of the flock.

First of all, 8 bags per day isn't adequate for 1845 laying birds. You should feed them with at least 9 bags per day. Do that and place them on multivitamins for a week and let's know the outcome.

Am Currently having 495 birds @ 9 weeks n feeding them with 1bag (25kg) per day. Are they underfed? + if not, when am I expected to increase the feed supply.
PS: I am a first time farmer.

I thought it'd be too late to apply for fall 17, since we're already in Jan 17. Also most of the top 100 schools in Physics (US News), that I feel I have higher prospects of securing admission to, have ended registration.

I don't know if I can still meet the deadline for some others, since one'll still have to send transcripts to the schools and that could take a while. I was wondering of going for Spring 18 but don't know if funding will be available.

I'm in a pickle here.

You have the best answer already but lemme add little.

Except for few schools, I know, most time, the admission is just for a supervisor to agree to supervise you and acceptance comes with finding. In some cases, you and your supervisor both develop a research proposal together.

For most Canadian research programs, you have the "get a Supervisor" challenge to solve. I can assure you that unlike US professors that you don't reply, most reply "no space" or best refer you to another if they like your profile or proposal. It is challenging task that you need to embrace yourself for before you start. Some are blessed and favoured with little effort but most sweat. Personally I was favoured but still ended mailing many Prof to get few "yes" and their yeses still doesn't guarantee acceptance.

Best application time for funding is between September and January. You came at the deadline period.

My thoughts exactly. Am currently communicating with a supervisor who asked me to mention his name when I apply so that my application is brought to his attention. I haven't discussed funding with him as admission comes with full funding from the department in form of T. A. The only thing I did was to update him when I completed my application.
