Hi,
I'm the orginal poster. So happy it's still going strong.
My husband and I named our son (born in 2011) Jonas chineyerugo.
And we're now expecting a little girl, so I'm after girl Igbo suggestions.
I'd like something traditional but not over used - if that's possible. Lol

Family / Re: Who Is The Bread Winner ? Do You Care ? by alpacaem(f): 4:00pm On Jan 19, 2007
At the moment I earn more than my partner.
He has no problem with it.
We tend to use my wages for most of our bills and use his for savings.
However I'd prefer him to be the bread winner - as next year we plan on having children and I plan on either being at home (a full time house wife) looking after the children or only working part time and still being with the kids. And for that to work he would have to be the main bread winner. cheesy

Family / Re: Which Schools Are Best - Nigerian Schooling Or Uk Schooling ? by alpacaem(f): 3:37pm On Jan 19, 2007
Thanks for your replies.
As a woman I'm not sure how strong I'd be to let my babies go (for such a long time - 6 years!!!) to primary school in Nigeria.
However my partner is thinking of the children will school here for primary, Nigeria for secondary - then choose where to go for further education - University.

Family / Which Schools Are Best - Nigerian Schooling Or Uk Schooling ? by alpacaem(f): 1:50pm On Jan 18, 2007
Hi,
I'm getting Married in November and Very shortly after I hope to start my family.
My Husband - Nigerian - thinks that Nigerian Education will be best for our children & it will encourage them to want to come back to Nigeria.
I however think UK is best - As we have all the lastest Technology and Less students per teacher - therefore giving them more attention.
I love Nigeria, and We as a family will be visiting Owerri once or twice a year - so my children won't need to school there to love their country. They will be brought up knowing where their from and to be proud of their backgrounds - including speaking both Igbo & English.
If my children have a UK education they should be able to work pretty much anywhere, whilst with a Nigerian education you maybe more limited to countries you can work in without having to six futher exams.
Please tell me your views,

Fashion / Re: Plastic Surgery? Can You Do It? by alpacaem(f): 9:23pm On Oct 08, 2006
I would smiley

I would love to have my breasts lifted, theres a new technique that doesn't scar - but it's not available in the UK yet. I want them lifted because i get heat rash under the crease + they'd look perkier - I always have to wear a bra unless I'm in the shower or going to bed sad

I see nothing wrong with plastic surgery, as long as you don't go too far - make your self look strange or anything, don't need to make your self into a freak show.
Only enhance what GOD gave you unless it's for medical reasons.
You still need to show through anything you have done grin

I am proud to be naming all my children with igbo names.
They will also have English names - and when they are old enough they can choose which they want to be known by.
As for spelling and pronouncation - doesn't really matter, I'm English and their are many different English / welsh & Scottish names we can't spell or pronounce.
Its part of their history and who they are and think when they are old enough they will too appreciate it.
They will also be fluent in igbo and English as part of their upbringing.
It's important to me and my husband that they know both sides of their family.
You can't know who you are or where your going until you know where your from.

Somewhere relatively safe.
Good Condition / New.
Of High Standard.

It's for me and my husband. His family are in Owerri, so we want to hae a place to live when we come over for a month or so at a time, before returning to UK.

Romance / Re: Is There Really Anything Unforgiveable In A Relationship? by alpacaem(f): 2:23pm On Aug 25, 2006
I would forgive justabout everything - once!
such as : him sleeping with another woman, beating me, stealing for me, etc.
for example - if he found out my husband was cheating on me - and I talked to him about it and asked him to stop, as we've sorted our problems and he still cheated on me - I'd have to seriously re-look at our relationship.
Everyone is entitled to a mistake and Everyone is entitled to a second chance - we are only human after all.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me - is a popular UK fraze.

Nairaland / General / Re: What Would You Do Today If You Knew You Would Die Tomorrow? by alpacaem(f): 1:09pm On Apr 26, 2006
I Would spend the day time with the poeple I love the most.
I wouldn't tell anyone I knew that I was going - because that would ruin their day - make them really upset - I'd like my last day to happy & fun - that way I'd leave people with happy memorys of me.
And of the evening of my last day I'd spend time alone with my husband - have a sexy candle lit meal and make love one last time before I go.
Nairaland / General / Re: What's Your Fear (Phobia)? by alpacaem(f): 1:01pm On Apr 26, 2006
wasps = spheksophobia
&
spiders = arachnophobia

I have a really bad fear of wasps !
I can cope with a spider in the room - as long as I can see it. However if there is a WASP in the room, I freak out - I cant sit still or keep carm.

The last time A wasp landed on my coat (I was out side) I started Screaming and running around flapping my arms - like a mad person .
