Many thanks to all that contacted me to show interest in the irrigated farm complex.
We are starting today to make payment to the land owners, get the agreement signed in the names of individuals for 2 years lease of one acre each.
Clearing should also commence before the end of the day.

Based on requests so far received, we can start by 10th november, 2015. Land preparations should not exceed two weeks to enable us plant early.

Note: For this cluster farm project, each participant will have a document of allocation of land from the owner.
A head of marketing amongst us will be required to help get the best price other than the general market price for our produce.
A finance house will come to inspect our farms with a view of giving us individually agric loans for expansion of our farms.
The loan that is a single digit interest rate has an insurance cover.

OPTION B: VEGETABLE PROJECT.
Remove N110k for Bamboo staking in option a above. You get N190k.
The vegetables are ewedu and soko.
PROECTED RETURNS:
N50 / sqm x 4000 sqm. This gives us N200k.
2ND PLANTING:
soko will be transplanted from nursery so that harvest will start in 4 weeks.
Cost will be as follows.
Weed control N10k
Irrigation for 2 months N50k,
seedlings & transplanting N15k,
agro chemicals, manure & insecticides N15k.
Harvest & transport N20k.
Total N110k.

PROTECTED RETURNS:
N70/sqm x 4000sqm of soko. About N280k sales expected.

6. Harvesting: N20k ( harvesting, bags & baging, transportation ).

PROJECTED RETURNS
A stand is expected to produce N2,500 worth of cucumbers x 200 stands. This gives N500k.

2ND PLANTING.
2nd planting on same facility takes place as the harvesting of the 1st set is on. 6 to 8 weeks from the 1st planting. The projected returns is N500k. The cost of executing the 2nd planting is items 4, 5 & 6 totalling N130k.

4. Seeds + agro chemicals: N60k ( Marketer variety of seeds, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, manure & labour ).
5. Irrigation: N50k ( pumping water every 2 days + labor for every 2 months ),

OPTION A: CUCUMBER PROJECT
Work Stages:
1. Land lease: 10k ( 2yrs @ N5k each ).
2. Land preparation: 50k ( Brushing, tree felling, cross cutting, packing ).
3. Bamboo staking: N110k ( cutting, pegging, roping for dual side planting of 200 stands of 5metres @ N550 each ).

5yrs lease @ 5k/yr have been negotiated. Papers will be signed.

Please keep the money in a safe place. Find somewhere to do apprenticeship/trained with a practising farmer. Work and improve your knowledge on different aspect of farming. Take time to decide which area of interest you would love to practise. Crop, livestock, agribusiness value chain or whatever.
Then you can decide what to do and where to start.
Just my one cent.
That money can not do anything profitably even on a quarter plot of farm.
