Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Important Sections Of A CV That Must Be Included by alphalpha(m): 9:59pm On Jul 06, 2015 |
Benjom: The vital information that your CV ought to include are as follows:
• Your Personal Details: Add your name, contact address, phone number, email address and professional social media contact (if you have any). If it’s a ‘Skill Based CV’, you may not need to include your date of birth, because of age discrimination concerns but for ‘Chronological of Functional CV’, this may be crucial.
• Personal Profile or Objective: This, in most cases, should align with the job you are applying for. It’s important that you include this. Try as much as possible to avoid the use of the personal pronoun ‘I’ and being vague.
• Significant Achievements: Don’t just be vague about your achievement(s). Be specific! For example, ‘I won several clients/customers’ (wrong)... ‘Increased client base to 250 over a period of 3 months’ (right).
• Career History: Usually, you start with your most recent job first and make sure that dates are included including months. For example, April 2014 – June 2015... November 2011 – Present.
• Qualifications and Training: Start with the most recent and move down ( to high or secondary school level). Although, some claimed that ‘Primary School’ attended should also be there. To most recruiters, that’s insignificant.
• Interest and Activities: Include these only if they’re relevant to your skill or the position being applied for.
• Additional Information: Here, if you have explanation on particular areas of your career e.g. gaps in your career history. This is where you give such tangible explanation.
In conclusion, Your CV and Cover Letter are very important in securing you that job you so desire. How you craft them would definitely go along way in determining your placement. Sell your skills and experience by making sure that these documents are intact and catchy. With these, job-wise, the sky is your limit.
Feel free to add other important sections that you feel should be included.
http://www.benjommediaoutfit.com/important-sections-of-a-cv/ surprised that you mentioned skills but didn't include it as a section in a CV. it should be there. most recruiters look for it |

micronut: THE REAL STOMACH INFRASTRUCTURE
Each time i see what "Bayo Omoboriowo" does with photography, even as a 4.26 graduate of chemistry.....
I ask my self what is the essence of Education? if doing what you like pays the bill and makes you shine like Buhari shoe and keep your head high like Jonathan's Fedora hat..
....then that is the true essence of schooling.....to polish your skills and give you opportunity to think wide.....
Think like Whizkid, Dare Art alade, Runtown, flavour, 2face et.al to write rhymes and flows that would change your life for good..
.if writing your way to the top like "Japheth Omojuwa" would save your ass from GNLD Job invites.........then keep the ball rolling.
if only we know what the future hold for us, may be we would be more tactical and change our views about life and what true Education is all about.
Who buys all the buggati, verari, 4matics, fords of this world? Business men and people with skills and great dexterity and not civil servants.
Who travels around the world and see places? definitely not 8-6 workers.
Who builds all the mansions we all see on the front covers of magazines? definitely not paid workers but innovators.
Possibly when we start thinking out of box, of how to at least put food on our table, may be would stop distributing cv's to all our enemies.
Every job interview is another story for another day, the agony and level of HR constant show of remorse and ineptitude is so down casting.. Until we are able to tell them, that we are better than that piece of paper called certificate, then we shall trample on vices that has always been stopping us from progressing.
Job Applicants, Lets think, follow our subconsciousness, lets listen to our inner minds, work on our ideas, ideas are mind virus the replicates with time. Ideas rules the world, it can take us to places, it gives us the only secured job we all have been looking for. After all, what we are looking for is survival, conviniency and satisfaction.
If that hobby we overlooked is giving us stipends, then its safe to say we can get much more from it, if we devout more time and becomes more passionate.
We can make it as a standup comedian, if "i go die" can do it.
We can make it as an On Air Personality (OAP) if we start a little as functions/programmes MC.
We can create better Apps, better blogs than Linda ikeji, better forum than even Nairaland..
We can do well as a fashion designer, if wasiu taiwo (wessy fashions) who use to be M.K.O'S Tailor can today build a continental suites.
Today we see how all this small artistes, buying flashy cars and mansions all around, yet most didn't even do up to one-quarter of what we went through in the university.
Lets look around our environment, what problem can we solve that can fetch us something, no matter how small it is, definitely we won't be where we are yesterday even though we may not in any way near where we want to be.
Lets keep an open mind and do something behind while we keep sending our CV's (if we still feel the need). Indeed, opportunities abound if only we can comb and scan our environments.
After all Paid Jobs = Money Service Provision & Talents = Money Business = Money
ALL WOULD PUT US FOOD ON OUR TABLE AND MAKES US RESPONSIBLE.
Still on the street sha........... Every man must live his on path.......Every odenigbo, adisa and garuba would one day find his level.
Then, we shall say we have arrived..
God bless all the "never say never" dudes and chicks still on the street...... Shout out to those Street dons giving us the "can do" spirit and the "going inspiration".
WE SHALL GET THERE.................ONE DAY!
Just thinking........Echoes from the voice of the wriggling Nigeria youths on the street.
It shall be well with us......... Space booked |

Politics › Lagos Opposes Sexual Offences Bill 2014 by alphalpha(op): 11:28am On Jun 26, 2015 |
Lagos State government yesterday faulted the Sexual Violence Offences Bill 2014, saying provisions of the bill ‘trivialises sexual assault against Nigerian children and would encourage the crime instead of reducing it. Briefing journalists at the state secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, said the bill seeks to introduce a strange defence based on the innocent act of a child (referred to as deceit) and belief of the perpetrator that a child is above 18 years when he commits the act of defiling a child. He also faulted Section 10 (5) of the bill, which provides for the sum of N20,000 for the offence of indecent assault, saying no amount can ever be sufficient for the victim. This, Lawal said, would serve as a shield for perpetrators to escape justice, adding that there should be no excuse for anyone to assault, defile or rape a child under the guise of ignorance or deceit. The state government, which faulted the bill under the aegis of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, described the Sexual Offences Bill 2014 as offensive, obnoxious, inconsistent and likely to increase incidences of sexual abuse in Nigeria. According to him, the provisions of the bill are apparently inconsistent with the interest and welfare of children and contradicts the Child’s Right Act. Pedro said: “Section 7(5) of the proposed bill provides that: ‘It is a defence to a charge of defilement of children under the section if (a) It is proved that such a child deceived the accused person into believing that he or she was over the age of 18 years at the time of alleged commission of the offence: and; (b) The accused person reasonably believed that the child was over the age of 18 years. “Section 1 of the Act stipulates that in every action concerning a child, whether undertaken by an individual, public or private body, institutions or service, court of law or administrative or legislative authority, the best interest of the child shall be the primary consideration.” Pedro, who is also a solicitor- general explained that the paramount objective of the Child’s Right Act is to promote, protect and uphold the rights of every Nigerian child irrespective of age, adding that a person below 18 years old is a child under our legal system and therefore most times exempted from liability on the ground that these persons may not understand the nature/ consequences of their act. He therefore argued that there should be no statutory defence for sexual offence against a child on the ground of purported deceit by the child and belief of the offender that the child was above 18 years, suggesting that the defence on the age should be completely expunged from the bill. Pedro, who also picked hole in the introduction of gang rape and joint trial of the perpetrators in the bill, said the idea would be problematic at the prosecution stage, adding that separate trial of sexual offenders is the generally stipulated rule except as provided in section 155.
