All Nigerian tribes look alike as blacks. People of one ethnic group regularly get mistaken for members of another group. "Hausas are dark-skinned" except for Buhari, Shettima, IBB,etc. "Igbos and South-South people are fair-skinned" except for Jonathan, Amaechi, etc.

Secession is not the answer. South Sudan is having internal problems after seceding from the Muslim Arab Sudan.

dinachi:
I feel a deep sense of grief and bewilderment when I read a lot of misguided comments from my Igbo brothers with some calling for a violent secession from Nigeria. Most of the generation of people making these statement never witnessed the civil war. They did not see first hand the horrors of war. They did not experience the terrific impact of bombs or the loud ear splitting sounds of heavy artillery shells as the explode. Should I talk about the economic impact? How our people were reduced to paupers and had to start from the scratch. How beautiful daughters were forcefully torn from the warm embrace of their families and married off to leprous men in the North just to spite our people. Only a mentally deranged and prone to self destruction individual will ever in his life support a violent secession from Nigeria.

Our problem is not secession. Our problem is learning how to live with other tribes in harmony while doing our businesses. Our focus should be on how to build consensus across the nation for vital political interests.

I laugh heartliy when I see some misguided Niger Delta youths like barcanista and co trying to be clever by half by playing to our sense of entitlement. Speaking from both sides of the mouth about how our people are being pushed aside and marginalized.
Yet these are the same people that effectively sabotaged the Biafran struggle under Ojukwu. These are the same people that lead the enemy in through our backyards and betrayed their so called brothers. Now they have started a new song because their brother Jonathan who performed woefully was booted out by majority of Nigerians.

I want us to know sometime that is historical. The moment an attempt is made to secede, the I jaws will immediately turn their backs and negotiate us away to advance their interests. So we will end up alone fighting the whole of Nigeria and loosing again.

When the chips are down, we are always alone.

Another point to consider is that Nigeria has become too intergrated to break up. Almost every family has in laws across their tribe. How will that be handled?

Igbo are the most integrated people in Nigeria with business interests across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Most of our people will become jobless or stay and be killed the moment a secession is declared.

Those who knew the truth will tell you that even inside Biafra there were still serious cases of tribalism and nepotism, even under the revered Ojukwu. That was why ahiara declaration became necessary to tackle these issues.

Finally, we are not ready militarily and would only be engaging in another massive waste of life if we insist on our ways.
So my people do not be deceived! Our best and only bet is to remain as law abiding citizens of Nigeria while doing our best to continue to be relevant in the scheme of things.
Ka Chineke mezie okwu.

azzin.

When you start reading "the palms danced according to the flute of the wind, shutters and doors contributing to the orchestra of nature as women screamed their terror"....dem go use 2 pages dey describe irrelevant things before the main action, it's boring

@OP, another thing most Nigerian writers fail to do is perfect description. The most horrible thing to read most times is Nigerian romance. It's like people are scared their pastor will read their work and they'll be suspended from church. So when they write, you'll see "They kissed...they made love" and some other jargons. They don't feel the need to expantiate, how did it happen? Your target audience are young adults and middle-aged females, it's not an academically recommended book.

When you read American romance, it's as if you dey there as dem dey kiss, you'll even imagine yourself kissing, but when you read Nigerian romance, it leaves you feeling empty, it's akin to being fed chaff.

Chinum:
In the wake of the Flying Eagles and the Super Falcons’ unimpressive outings on the international scene, the Nigeria Football Federation seems to be looking towards the direction of expatriate coaches to handle the national teams. While the football house would insist on having expatriates head the technical crews of the various national teams, the back-room staff would still be headed by the indigenous coaches.PINNICK-NFF
Thank God

“The foreign coaches will be given convenient nomenclatures like ‘technical advisers or technical directors with the indigenous coaches working under them,”our source said. The Flying Eagles crashed out in the second round of the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup in New Zealand while the Super Falcons were shown the exit door in the group stage of the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.

According to a top NFF source, the Glass House has instructed top level football technocrats to shop for three technically competent coaches who would train the Flying Eagles, Super Falcons and the Golden Eaglets. The three tacticians are expected to come with their backroom staff but they would work with those Nigerians sent to England for courses in the technical study. The coaches who are expected to commence work in July would be expected to develop templates for the three teams as well as train potential coaches that would handle the teams in future.

It was also reported that the NFF will outsource the payment of the three foreign coaches through Public Private Partnership (PPP) with words rife that the federation chiefs are keeping the names of their partners under wraps until the details are sealed with all those involved.

CrimeBreaking: Dylann Roof On Murder Charges Over Charleston Shooting by alphalpha(op): 3:32pm On Jun 19, 2015
The man suspected of shooting dead nine people at an African-American church in Charleston has been charged with nine counts of murder and one weapons possession charge, police say.
Suspect Dylann Roof, 21, is due to make his first court appearance on Friday.
Police are treating the killings at the Emanuel AME Church on Wednesday evening as a hate crime.
He was arrested on Thursday more than 200 miles away in North Carolina and flown back to South Carolina.
On Friday morning South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said Mr Roof should face execution.
"We will absolutely want him to have the death penalty," she told NBC News.
Mr Roof's first court hearing is set for 14:00 local time (17:00 GMT), but it is likely he will appear via a video feed and not in person.
The victims of the shooting on Wednesday night included a state senator.
Charleston officials are planning a prayer vigil for Friday evening

CrimeBreaking: Charleston Shooting Suspect, Dylan Rouf Nabbed by alphalpha(op): 11:40pm On Jun 18, 2015
Dylann Roof, the suspected gunman in the South Carolina church shooting, had recently been given a weapon as a birthday present, according to a relative.
The 21-year-old's uncle told Reuters that Mr Roof's father gave him a .45-calibre handgun.
Carson Cowles said he tried to mentor his nephew, who had no job or driver's licence, but Roof was not receptive to this idea.
"I actually talked to him on the phone briefly for just a few moments and he was saying well I'm outside target practicing with my new gun," Mr Cowles said, describing a phone call around the time of Mr Roof's birthday in April.
Mr Roof's jacket in a photo on his profile page prominently bears the flags of South Africa and Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, from when the African nations were ruled by the countries' white minorities.
Richard Cohen, president of Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Alabama, says Roof wasn't known to his organisation, and it is unclear whether he is connected to any of the 16 white supremacist organisations SPLC has identified as operating in South Carolina.
But Mr Cohen says Mr Roof appears to be a "disaffected white supremacist" based on his Facebook page.
According to the suspect's Facebook page, he went to White Knoll High School in Lexington, South Carolina, a two-hour drive from Charleston. It says he lives in the state capital Columbia.
A woman who answered a mobile phone belonging to his mother, Amelia Roof, declined to comment to Reuters.
"We will be doing no interviews ever," she said, before hanging up.
Police identified Mr Roof after receiving tip-offs from friends and family who claimed to recognise him in surveillance footage from the church.
Officials circulated the image, appealing for help finding a suspect in a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans and Timberland boots.

Dylann Roof reportedly got in trouble with the police over a trespassing incident in April
Roof's childhood friend, Joey Meek, alerted the FBI when he saw the grey top he was wearing, according to Mr Meek's mother, Kimberly Kozny.
She told the Associated Press that Mr Roof had worn that sweatshirt over to their house many times as they played Xbox videogames in recent weeks.
"I don't know what was going through his head," Ms Kozny said. "He was a really sweet kid. He was quiet. He only had a few friends,'' she added.
Mr Meek told AP that he and Mr Roof had been friends in secondary school, and then lost touch for years before reconnecting a few weeks ago.
"All the sudden out of the blue, he started talking about race," he said.
"He said he wanted segregation between whites and blacks. I said, 'that's not the way it should be'. But he kept talking about it."

What do the flags on Dylann Roof's jacket symbolise?
An image found on Dylann Roof's Facebook page shows the Charleston shooting suspect posing for the camera in a black jacket with two flags stitched to it.
The flags are both old - one belonged to apartheid-era South Africa and the other to the state of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe.
Rhodesia collapsed in 1979 when its government was overthrown by an armed uprising and South Africa rejected apartheid in 1994 - the year Mr Roof was born. But during the time they flew the flags worn by him, both nations were segregated and ruled by white minorities.
White supremacist organisations have celebrated both nations, claiming them to be examples of the benefits of white rule. The flags can be a subtle way for a white supremacist to reveal support for their cause, analysts say.

Mr Roof reportedly displayed a Confederate flag on his car licence plate.
Court records in South Carolina show he was facing a drug charge and had previously been arrested for trespassing.
NBC News has published an interview with Sylvia Johnson, Pastor Clementa Pinckney's cousin, who said she had spoken to one of the survivors.
She was told that the gunman "reloaded five different times" and that the gunman told the victims: "I have to do it... You rape our women and you're taking over our country,
and you have to go."
The US Justice Department says it is investigating the shooting at the church as a hate crime
