FreeStuffsNG: Mr. Wike stood in loco the President of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces on that fateful day. Consequently, even if the superior officer were still in service, he would not disobey Mr. Wike or obstruct him from entering the land. This was an affront to the civil authority of Mr. President.
The Minister’s method may be brash; but it is legal and lawful in all respects. Rather, it is the officer who obstructed him that has breached not just the Nigerian Constitution, but also service and extant regulatory laws. For the avoidance of any doubt, section 114 of the Armed Forces Act makes military personnel criminally liable for civil offences. This means the officer in question could be arraigned before a Court Martial for obstructing a public officer from performing his public duties, et cetera.
Patriotic Nigerians have started talking.
The least FG and the Military authorities can do right now is to immediately suspend him while preparing for his arraignment.
FreeStuffsNG: OFFICER YERIMA BREACHED THE LAW IN THAT FACEOFF WITH NYESOM WIKE:
Brushing sentiments aside, I hereby condemn in totality the actions of the Naval Officer, A.M. Yerima, who obstructed the FCT Minister from gaining access into that parcel of land, under the guise of ‘obeying superior orders.’ The duty of a junior officer to obey the orders of his superiors, even though strongly upheld in military and paramilitary circles, has its own limitations recognised by no other authority but the Supreme Court of Nigeria. I shall establish this anon.
In the recent case of Onunze vs. State (2023) 8 NWLR (Pt. 1885) 61 at 108 SC, the Supreme Court held emphatically, per Ogunwunmiju, JSC, thus:
“My Lords, the obligation to obey the orders of a superior does not include orders that are palpably illegal or manifestly unjust. Every military or police officer swears an oath upon commissioning. The Oath is not to obey all orders, it is to “preserve”, “protect” and defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria against all enemies, foreign and domestic. When an officer obeys palpably illegal orders, they become personally liable for their actions and would be expected to face court martial or official sanction for the wrongdoing.”
In the earlier decision of Nigeria Air Force vs. James (2002) 18 NWLR (Pt. 798) 295 at 324 SC, Onu, JSC, delivering the lead judgment of the Supreme Court, held firmly, subjugating military personnel to civilian authority and disparaging obedience to illegal orders, as follows:
“See the case of Pius Nwaogu v. The State (1972) 1 All NLR 149 where it was held, inter alia, that "a soldier is responsible to Military and Civil Law and it is monstrous to suppose that a soldier could be protected when the order is grossly and manifestly illegal. Of course, there is the other proposition that a soldier is only bound to obey lawful orders and is responsible if he obeys an order not strictly lawful.’"
The illegality in that order stems primarily from the fact that no service law of the military permits a serving military officer to mount guard at the private construction site of his boss, especially under suspicious circumstances like this. The retired Naval Officer ought, under the circumstances, to have engaged the civil police, if he suspected likelihood of arson or criminal trespass.
Additionally, Barr. Nyesom Wike is the equivalent of Governor of a State – he being the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. More importantly, all lands in the FCT Abuja, by section 297(2) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, belong to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. By section 302 of the same Constitution, read together with other extant Acts of the National Assembly, the President of Nigeria has delegated all powers with respect to land administration in the FCT Abuja to the Hon. Minister. Going by constitutional and administrative law, therefore, Mr.
In conclusion, celebrating the humiliation of Nyesom Wike, simply because he is a ‘big man’ or simply because he is not liked by certain persons begs the real issue here. If such intolerable conduct by the young officer is not punished or is celebrated, this may unleash a reign of terror by the men in khaki against hapless civilians – with a grin or boast that ‘we did it to Wike and nothing happened.’ This is not Nigeria of our dream! I rest my case here.

I watched the 3 FULL videos on that illegal land construction site encounter. This Gen. Buratai (rtd) has NO right to criticize Wike alone because he is encouraging indiscipline. Lt. Yerima is as guilty for triggering Wike to get angry with his comments and we know Wike has anger issues if he gets triggered. That young Lt. Yerima was also rude with his initial comments and indiscipline BUT towards the end of his encounter with Wike, he became flustered as can be seen in the video.
The young Naval officer initially said something which triggered Nyesom Wike who got angry and then called him a f**l. Instead of de-escalating the situation he kept on replying to Wike's comments which was unwise of the young Lt. Yerima who is supposedly from Kaduna State.
A lot of those criticizing Nyesom Wike alone instead of both of them either did NOT watch the video fully or are simply haters of Wike who I have NEVER been a fan of BUT truth must be told because he has his good side and negative side. That's the way I'm wired to ALWAYS look at different perspectives.
Westman001: That's where you have it wrong. Grammy is not an enterprise for American music. It's for music in general. All genres.
Have you forgotten that King Sunny Ade has been nominated before.
We have Korean musicians that have been nominated. We have those that have won.
We have Spanish musicians too.
Don't let your hatred for America becloud your reasoning and judgement.
There is a global recognition for things that can be global. Even mathematics that secondary school children learn has a global recognition. Even choirs of churches have a global recognition.
Nobel prize is there. You don't hate that. If Nobel prize is American thing now, you'd probably hate it.
Succinctly stated.
I like your use of "anecdotal evidence" and "dialectics" in your response to that agitated guy.
Indeed, one of my favorite Latin-American music groups (based in France BUT originally from Cuba) since the early 2000s is the rap and hip-hop group ORISHAS who rapped in Cuban-Spanish and Yoruba paying tribute to the Deities in songs such as "Represent Cuba" and "A lo Cubano." This group won the Latin Grammy Awards as well so this FACT essentially meshes with your post that music is universal. Indeed, unknown to the younger ones, King Sunny Ade was nominated for the Grammy Awards in the 1980s as the FIRST EVER Nigerian to be so nominated. This was even before the British-Nigerian, 'Sade ADU in 1986 became the FIRST EVER person of Nigerian descent to win a Grammy Award (she was born in 1959 in Ibadan, Nigeria to a White English mother and London School of Economics and Political Science-educated father of Ekiti-Yoruba descent) and she went on to win more Grammy Awards as the years rolled by along with the British-Nigerian Seal Henry Olumide Samuel or SEAL who is from Isale Eko (Lagos Island), Nigerian-American rapper Chamillionaire whose father is from Oyo State, and others who have Nigerian paternal parentage.
I watched the FULL reaction video here and I didn't see any overt hatred for Nigerians by Ghananians because of the Grammy Awards. Matter-of-FACT, the Ghanaians largely gave out constructive criticisms to improve the Ghanain music industry so as to be nominated for the Grammy Awards.
INFACT the 3rd boy who spoke wearing a white singlet and the young man wearing a red "gobi cap" who spoke last in the video are Ghananians who gave constructive criticisms to Ghananians and Ghananian musicians on what to do.
Some of the other young male speakers in the reaction video spoke ignorantly in some places especially one creep with the microphone in front of him who sarcastically said Nigerians went to Shatta Wale's Grammy page and started asking questions about who Shatta Wale is thereby depriving him of being nominated. He also said Nigerians usually vote in large numbers for Nigerian artistes during the Grammy nominations unlike Ghananians.
MikeofKd: Y'all what's the best age to get married and why ?
Me I'm really enjoying my single life but my family is pressuring tf outta me to get married. It has gotten to the point that I no even dey pick my Momsy calls again cus I know what she wants to say is about marriage.
Next year I would be turning 30 so I'm just trying to figure out from other men like what age did you get married and how as the experience been like so far. Good or bad Make I know cause.....
Left to me I wanna continue this single life and have many baby mamas lol.... ( King Solomon 2.0)
Single life too sweet , especially if you get OT to scope babes and you still get money again. I don chop Christian girls ,Muslim girls , traditionalist girls , cele girls , ogbanje girls , Ibo girls , yoruba girls , Hausa , Benue , edo , Togo , Cameroon girls etc
Tell me why tf should I settle down nau , I dey plan to chop SA girls next followed by Kenya girls lmaoooo.
NEVER get married without working on yourself. Work on your "emotional intelligence" and look for a woman who complements you in terms of being resourceful and entrepreneurial for instance. You can still get married up to 45 years of age.
Some wealthy, prominent men I know globally even got married for the first time ever in their early 50s as well and then proceeded to have their first children. Because of the biological clock, women CANNOT afford to stay too long before getting married or having children like men. Period.
Glimpsetv: Chuks Nwoko Blasts His Brother, Ned Nwoko, Over Alleged Betrayal of Many People
A man identified as Chuks Nwoko, who claims to be Senator Ned Nwoko’s brother, has taken to social media to publicly call out the lawmaker amid the ongoing tension between Regina Daniels and some members of Ned’s family.
In a viral video, Chuks alleged that he has been unable to reach his brother for years, as Ned has consistently ignored his calls. According to him, the only way he could pass his message across was through Facebook, where he accused Ned of bringing “too much disrepute” to the Nwoko family name.
In his words:
“You are not ashamed, and I’m not ashamed for you — but there are people who feel ashamed on behalf of your siblings. You need to have a change of heart.”
Chuks went further to criticize Ned’s attitude, saying:
“You always flaunt your law degree on social media, but you sound to me like an illiterate. If you truly understand the law, then you should know about natural laws — the law of sowing and reaping, just like the law of gravity. Whatever a man sows, he will surely reap. You keep complaining about what you’ve done for people, yet you never mention that you came from a poor background — that your father and mother were poor, and it was someone named Nnwonye who sent you to school in the United Kingdom because there was no one here to help you. Now you come online pretending to be a self-made man, but everyone who ever helped you has been betrayed.”
Chuks accused Senator Ned Nwoko of reaping what he sowed, claiming that his first act of betrayal was against their immediate elder brother. He further warned Ned to stop bringing shame to the Nwoko family, adding that Ned “always acts like he made it all on his own.” He also alleged that Ned married underage girls, refused to pay Regina Daniels’ bride price to her father, and failed to recognize him — an act which, according to Chuks, goes against their cultural values.
[s]Chuks concluded by making more shocking claims about Ned, including an allegation that he changed his original name from Chinedu to Ned.
You can watch the full video to hear all the details for yourself — and share your thoughts in the comments below.
I've just watched the FULL video to get a hang of the mindset of the man who is talking right in the video. The man, Chuks is indeed Ned's biological brother contrary to what some ignorant posters are saying here because he looks like a "slightly older" version of Ned Nwoko as they both facially look alike with that prominent nose shape.
Aha! So the full meaning of "Ned" is "Chinedu." It makes absolute sense to me now.
I MUST commend the gentleman in the video. Ned's brother (Chuks) is indeed a well-spoken man with great English diction and a firm understanding of the philosophies of life. A lot of those criticizing him right from Page 1 of this thread with one calling him a "village person" did NOT watch the video properly to see the powerful life-changing things he told Ned Nwoko.
I had earlier posted about how in 2021, prominent indigenes of Idumuje-Ugboko origin published a full-page press release in the media EXPOSING how Ned Nwoko used the Police to arrest, intimidate and forcibly collect for his own use the precious lands and farmlands of bonafide indigenes of Idumuje-Ugboko in Delta State (his maternal hometown which he adopted because his father is NOT originally from there and even the name Nwoko is his mother's family name being that she is from a royal family). This forcible take over or land grabbing he did was to build a so-called golf course WITHOUT the knowledge or permission of the traditional ruler of Idumuje-Ugboko. Ned indeed offended a lot of people in his maternal adopted hometown.
I wasn't surprised that Chuks Nwoko who spoke with passion said the same thing in the video about the land ownership tussle in Idumuje-Ugboko and how Ned intimidated and fought with some of the people of his adopted hometown of Idumuje-Ugboko in Delta State. Ned has to show more introspection by listening to the wise counsel of his brother (Chuks) and his other family members while changing his brash ways. I propose that Ned stays away from marrying any new "virgin" girl which he claims to prefer and manage Laila and those who might still be with him. Period.
Why is Nigeria so deeply divided between Muslims and Christians, and how has this division created ripples that reach far beyond its borders and into the global stage.
Who are the main victims of this fifteen-year-long, never-ending conflict, and why has Nigeria struggled to protect its own citizens from this ongoing threat.
