Politics / Abidjan-Lagos Highway Project Funding Won't Be Delayed — ECOWAS by alphonsojaybaz: 12:17pm On Sep 25
When building on the 1028-kilometer Abidjan-Lagos highway corridor starts in 2025, the ECOWAS Commission has promised that financing will not be a hindrance.

At the 21st steering committee meeting of the Lagos-Abidjan corridor highway improvement project in Lagos, Nigeria’s Minister of Works and the committee chairman, David Umahi, disclosed the information.

According to Umahi, the project was started in 2013, or roughly eleven years ago, but despite having multiple finance partners—most notably the African Development Bank (AfDB)—it was delayed for three years due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The chairman of the committee claims that the steering committee is meeting to fill in the gaps in the project, which commenced in 2013. He claims that “because they have shown a strong interest and commitment towards the realisation of this project, we will not have problems about funding today and we will be able to set a timeline for the project.” Let me emphasize how important this project is to both member countries and Nigeria. We have four legacy projects totaling 2,800 kilometers. The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway is one of them. It has two carriageways, each with three lanes, and it will be tolled. All of the stations along the corridor will have CCTV cameras installed.

“The remaining three legacy projects are the 477-kilometer Calabar-Abuja project, the 489-kilometer Abuja-Akwanga project, which travels through Jos and Bauchi, and the 2,800-kilometer Sokoto-Badagry project, which is located by the Lagos-Abidjan highway.”

In response to the question of the treaty that member states had signed, Umahi stated that there had been disagreements over the appointment of coordinating agencies, such as the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Management Authority (ALCOMA). She also stated that following a meeting at the ministerial steering committee, where all five of the state ministers convened and reached a consensus, an agreement had been reached.

The heads of the ECOWAS, Côte D’Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Ghana, and Nigeria met to reach a consensus on the design, conceptualization, and finance mechanism of the ESIA as well as the Lagos-Abidjan expressway. In terms of designs, we will hear from the expert committee before finalizing the design and establishing the procurement objective—possibly at our next meeting. After today’s meeting, we will release a press release outlining our agreements,” he said.

In a statement regarding the project’s goal, Ghana’s Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, reiterated the member states’ commitment to accelerating socioeconomic development and boosting interregional trade by stating that the road infrastructure was to connect communities with trade, tourism, and social life.

Because they can connect individual states with roadways, nations like the United States were able to initiate their economic boom. We are attempting to connect our own highway for this reason. The highway project contributes to the quickening of socioeconomic growth. He continued, “This project will transform economic growth among the connecting countries when it is realized.”

The technical designs presented by the experts committee, which consists of engineers from each of the five member nations, the ministerial steering committee’s evaluation of the project designs, and the technical guidance provided by the African Development Bank (AfDB), among other financiers, were the highlights of the event.

Politics / Nigeria’s Gas-powered Transport Policy Sets Its Course For Cleaner Energy by alphonsojaybaz: 11:57am On Sep 25
Nigeria’s Gas-Powered Transport Policy Sets Its Course for Cleaner Energy

The Nigerian government has been urged by the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA)

The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) claims that the adoption of the Gas-Powered transportation policy, which requires the use of gas-powered vehicles for public transportation, will place Nigeria on the international map of nations that are embracing greener energy.

It was stated that this kind of initiative may also be used to government operations and that state and municipal governments could adopt it as a policy. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In addition to promoting cleaner energy sources and supporting Nigeria’s government’s sustainability goals, the formal adoption of such a policy will lessen the country’s dependency on fossil fuels and draw in the capital needed to build downstream infrastructure that will support successful implementation, create jobs, and domesticate technology.

The NGA emphasized the significance of maintaining the momentum and applauded the government for gradually implementing compressed natural gas (CNG) for transportation.

The association commended the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PiCNG) for its work in distributing CNG conversion kits and encouraged the group to increase the amount of progress it has made in promoting CNG as a practical substitute for fossil fuels.

Akachukwu Nwokedi, the President of NGA, emphasized the wider ramifications of this move toward natural gas-powered transportation for heavy-duty vehicles and trucks as well as public transportation. This will lower the cost of moving goods and products and benefit end users.

“The switch to gas is not only necessary for the environment, but also for the economy. Natural gas represents a huge opportunity for Nigeria’s economy to become more efficient and environmentally friendly, with possible operational cost savings of up to 70%, he said, inspiring excitement about the potential beneficial influence on economic growth.

As another crucial step in Nigeria’s transition to more sustainable energy solutions, the NGA congratulated Greenville LNG on finishing its second test run of LNG-powered trains. The NGA said that this validates its support for natural gas as the preferred energy source for promoting economic growth and lowering the country’s carbon footprint by efficiently utilizing its plentiful gas reserves.

He stated that using natural gas to power Nigeria’s rail system is a part of a bigger plan to revamp the nation’s transportation industry by lowering carbon emissions and boosting energy efficiency. The way that initiatives like Greenville LNG are supporting Nigeria’s Gas Initiative excites us. It’s a brilliant illustration of how sustainable energy can spur improvements in the environment and the economy, Nwokedi continued.

Natural gas is a cleaner, more sustainable fuel choice, and the NGA continues to push for the adoption of eco-friendly practices and the shift to gas-powered solutions in the public and private sectors. The audience is encouraged and motivated to support natural gas by the NGA because of this commitment.

Politics / How I Want To Save Nigeria By 2027 - Kwankwaso by alphonsojaybaz: 7:32am On Sep 21
As the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has expressed publicly his commitment to get Nigeria out of its current economic crisis by 2027.

Kwankwaso also said that the party plans to bolster its state branches to challenge the All Progressives Congress in the upcoming 2027 elections.
This action is a component of their plan to eventually overthrow the APC. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

It was stressed during a recent weekend visit to the Osun State party Secretariat, which is situated along Osogbo-Ikirun road in Osogbo, how crucial it is to revitalize State chapters in order to ensure effective and seamless administration.

“How I intend to rescue Nigeria in 2027” — Kwankwaso

In a statement provided to reporters by State Party Chairman Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, Kwankwaso, who was accompanied by a three-person delegation headed by Dr. Rahila Mukhtar, revealed that the NNPP is prepared to rescue the masses from the current economic hardship and that it is not losing focus as the nation’s opposition party.

As the head of state, he claims that different reports from every state, particularly Osun, are making him happy. We are aware of the difficulties we will face as we approach 2027, but we are ready.

Nigerians have thus far come to the realization that the different presidents we have had are purposefully using the country’s poor to entice its people with small gifts when they return in 2027.

I promise not to mislead them; instead, I will get the nation out of its current mess.

The NNPP is a party with positive goals for the general public. We have begun organizing people everywhere. To make their mobility easier, we are outfitting our state secretariats with equipment and automobiles.

Kwankwaso was praised by Osun NNPP Chairman Dr. Odeyemi earlier in his welcome speech for being a leader who puts the welfare of the people first.

Along with his working team, he promised not to let up on their efforts to make the party a stunning bride among Osun residents.

He applauded Dr. Rahila and her group, comprising Alhaji Abdusalam Abdulateef and Dr. Muhammad Khalil, for sticking to the facts and assisting the party in its attempt to save Nigeria.

Celebrities / “if You Earn More Than Your Man, Let Him Quit His Job” – Ali Baba by alphonsojaybaz: 6:25pm On Sep 20
Legendary comedian Ali Baba takes aim at insecure men, particularly those who feel that women are earning more money than they are.

The comedian, who calls such behavior insecure, vented his annoyance at guys who let their financial status determine their value in an intense Instagram post. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

ali baba

In response to a conversation between two X users, he made his statement. The users described how women were able to save their marriages by taking lower-paying professions instead of high-paying ones.

Alibaba responded by making fun of men who, out of vanity or jealousy, would ask their higher-earning partners to quit from their jobs. He ridiculed these men, calling them “lazy bumcums,” and questioned the reason for their requests.

The comment has since gone viral, sparking debates online about gender roles, relationships, and how finances can affect self-esteem, particularly for men.

“All these lies you people are sharing will keeeeee you people soon.
Who are these women who fall for such lies.
If you earn more than your man, let him quit his own job. Nonsense!!!
Who are these lazy bumcums peddling these stupid narratives?
You are earning N1.5m a month… and your madam is earning 10m monthly. And with that kind of job comes different benefits… you wil tell her to resign.
That means your self-confidence is financially driven and anchored.
Insecurities my foot.
So, Stedman will tell Oprah Winfrey to resign…
Who is bringing up these men with self esteem that is defined by financial status?
No wonder, once a woman looks rich and exudes prosperity vibes… these sort of mean become weaklings.
Instead of being challenged and driven to upgrade your financial status.
Shiooooor,” he wrote.

Politics / NMDPRA Responds To The Dispute Around Nnpc's Petrol Prices At The Dangote Refine by alphonsojaybaz: 12:23pm On Sep 18
The recent dispute over the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) involvement in setting gas rates at the Dangote Refinery has been resolved by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The NMDPRA maintains that the price structure is determined by market forces, refuting claims that NNPCL is infringing on its regulatory authority.

Speaking on the subject, Engineer Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of NMDPRA, said that the pricing model adheres to the guidelines set down in the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) of 2021, which deregulates the industry. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Ahmed claims that the country’s gasoline prices are now set by market forces rather than by government agencies, and that the most recent agreement between NNPCL and the Dangote Refinery is based on the principle of “willing buyer, willing seller.”

In response to the worries expressed by industry participants, Ahmed underlined that the goal of NMDPRA is to make sure that no organization takes advantage of the market or customers.

Additionally, he clarified that other marketers are allowed to set their own rates; the pump price template, which was recently released by NNPCL and set gasoline prices at ₦1,019.22 per litre in Borno and ₦950.22 per litre in Lagos, was only for NNPCL’s outlets.

The clarification came after speculations that NNPCL had overstepped its authority by taking over a core function of NMDPRA in setting prices.

However, Ahmed downplayed the controversy, stressing that the NNPCL’s pricing was in line with the free-market system now in place, and not a regulatory imposition.

In a discussion with Daily Trust, Ahmed explained that the higher prices are due to supply constraints and the limited number of market participants.

He noted that with more entrants into the sector, pricing would stabilize, adding that expecting government regulation in a deregulated market would only lead to further challenges.

Ahmed said, “We try to restrain ourselves from needless controversy. But to put the record straight, the recent transaction between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery is strictly based on a willing buyer and a willing seller.

“But I know you will ask me that the supply is not sufficient in Nigeria, hence the high price. Of course, things would work fine when we have more players in the sector.

“But in a situation whereby some Nigerians expect us to regulate the price, it then means that the sector has not been deregulated; and it means we would continue to have problems.”

Politics / NNPC Lifts First Batch Of PMS From Dangote Refinery by alphonsojaybaz: 9:49am On Sep 15
NNPC lifts first batch of PMS from Dangote Refinery

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has removed its first batch of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also referred to as gasoline, from the Dangote Refinery, marking a significant step towards lowering Nigeria’s dependency on imported fuel.

This is a critical juncture in the country’s efforts to secure energy security and increase domestic refining capability. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

NNPC lifts first batch of PMS from Dangote Refinery

PMS was produced earlier this year by Africa’s largest refinery, Dangote. The national oil corporation and the privately run refinery have launched a long-awaited partnership that is projected to drastically lower Nigeria’s fuel import cost. This relationship is marked by NNPC’s decision to remove PMS from the refinery.

Sources within NNPC claim that the fuel lift is a component of a contract between NNPC and Dangote Industries Limited, under which the national oil firm has the legal right to buy a sizable portion of the refinery’s production. The goal of the action is to balance fuel demand in the nation with variations in the world market.

Price of Dangote’s fuel

Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) is expected to sell between N857 and N865 per litre as NNPCL begins lifting the product from the Dangote Refinery on Sunday 15th of September, 2024.

NNPCL is anticipated to lift the product at N960/N980 per litre and sell it to marketers at N840/N850, enabling Nigerians to purchase it between N857 and N865 per litre at filling stations.

However, it remains uncertain whether a uniform price will be applied nationwide.

As of yesterday, petrol was sold for N855 per litre at NNPCL retail stations in Lagos, the lowest price available, while major marketers sold it for around N920.

At independent marketers’ stations, prices exceeded N1,000, and in other parts of the country, PMS was selling for over N1,200 per litre.

Religion / The Orderly God : Genesis Chapter 1-31 by alphonsojaybaz: 9:39am On Sep 15
By Alphonso Olasunmbo Ekundayo

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I know some people may frown at my choice of the word ‘CULT’, please do not take offense. God’s Cult is the only legitimate Cult, others are counterfeit. God created everything and initiated them into His own secret place, His Cult. The breach of the rules of this Cult is what led to the founding of the illegitimate cults that are in existence today.
Hmmm. Let’s not lose focus by arguing about the choice of words rather let’s look at the remaining works of creation from where we left off last time and critically examine the works of creation and see for ourselves the lessons therein.
In Gen Chapt 1 vs 4, after creating the light, God knew that just because the light overpowers the darkness does not mean that darkness is no longer in existence hence He created a divide between light and darkness; then He gave each an identity, he called the light day and the darkness night. And then He took account, He saw that it was good and the evening and the morning were the first day.
In Vs 1& 2, if you recall, the world was void, the only things present then was the waters and the darkness, then He separated the waters creating the Firmament as a divide between the waters above and the waters below. He gave each identity calling the waters above Sea and then it was the Second day.
From His works on the first and second day God made us to realize the importance of creating boundaries between two unlike things. Creating certain boundaries is an important part/rule of creation . The existence of chaos which God set out to abolish in the world during his creation works was re introduced into the world when the people chose to ignore existence of these boundaries and its rules. Boundaries between Light and Darkness, boundaries between the higher waters and the lower waters, boundaries between creatures on earth and in heaven, boundaries between man and other animals, boundaries…..
Then in Vs 10, He ordered the waters under to gather on one side and let the dry land appear. This He did still following the rules of orderliness, boundaries, identity and accountability. Here He called the gathered water sea-land the dry Land Earth. Then He moved onto the rule of productivity/ fruitfulness which gives birth to continuity. He made the Earth bring forth grass and herbs and then it was the third day.
From Vs 14-19, God created lights to separate the day from the night. He made two great light, the greater light to rule the day and the lesser to rule the night and this is where the rule of leadership/ rulership came in. A leader or ruler is like a light that unto those following him. There were the sun, the greater light to rule the day and the moon to rule the night alongside its knights, the stars. God made us to understand hierarchical rule even in rulership. And the morning and the evening and it was the fourth day.
From Vs 20-23, God made us realize that He did not overlook the Seas, He made the living creature to inhabit the sea and bless them with fruitfulness. This is where we notice the law of abhorrence of vacuum in nature. He knows that if left unfilled undesirable elements may move it to fill the vacuum. Then the evening and the morning it was the fifth day.
He then blessed the earth with living creatures of all kinds cattle, creeping thing and beast . On this day, God emphasized the rule of rulership/ leadership. He created man in his own image to rule over everything He created. He blessed them with fruitfulness/ productivity which ensures continuity. Not a space what left empty and every living thing was blessed with fruitfulness to ensure continuity
In conclusion; The basic things I want us to look at and learn from our creator are as follows:
* The rule of creativity
* The rule of critical and analytical evaluation
* The rule of orderliness
* The rule of setting and maintaining boundaries
* The rule of creating identity
* The rule of accountability
* The rule of abhorrence of vacuum
* The rule of productivity/ fruitfulness
* The rule of rulership/ leadership
* The rule of recognition of hierarchical rulership.
If we can take time to read the first book of Genesis, meditate on it keeping in mind the pointers above may be we can see that what God is telling us in here is more than the amazing story of creation. And that He is using the story show us his personality and rules, thecrules we need to succeed.
My dear brethren, it is not enough to just read this article, lets take time to meditate on it and swing into action. Even I am a Learner alongside all of us eating and drinking from the fountain of life provided by our Lord Jesus Christ.
I remain your humble Sister in Christ, Ekundayo Olasumbo Alphonso. SHALOM !

Comedian Anita Afoke Asuoha, better known by her stage as Warri Pikin, has disclosed how she nearly killed herself after listening to a motivational speaker.

In honor of World Suicide Prevention Day, she disclosed on her Instagram page that her spouse became indebted in 2018 after being persuaded by a motivational speaker to undertake several business endeavors in an attempt to achieve financial success, leaving them in a hollow N22 million debt. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to her:

“I attempted suicide so you don’t have to. Specifically, on June 6, at 3 p.m., in 2018, I tried to end my life because the weight was too much to bear.

“Life has struck me in the left, right, and center, and it has flipped me around like a barber chair.”

Sharing photos of them she wrote:

“Area! Meet Irene C. Anaenye, the woman God used to save my life on June 6, 2018, at Garki Hospital.”

Celebrities / Fela Died Early For Not Minding His Business – Portable by alphonsojaybaz: 8:23am On Sep 11
has stirred outrage by blaming the late Afrobeats pioneer and activist, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, for his own death.

In a recent interview on the popular podcast Echoo Room with media personality Quincy Jonze, Portable claimed that Fela died prematurely because he “did not mind his business.”

The interview, which has since gone viral on social media, shows Portable criticizing the legendary musician and activist for dedicating his life to fighting for the rights of Nigerians.

According to Portable, Fela’s activism cost him his life.

"According to what we were told, if Fela had minded his business a little, he would have lived longer. But he was busy fighting for Nigerians wey no fight for themselves,” Portable said, referring to Fela’s outspoken stance against military regimes and social injustice in Nigeria.

In the same interview, Portable addressed his ongoing feud with rapper Zlatan Ibile, calling him the “devil” responsible for the misunderstanding between him and Afrobeats superstar Davido.

The singer explained that he was focused on building connections with international artistes in America when the fallout occurred.

I was in America looking for foreign artistes. I was busy displaying my madness online when Davido called me to come. Me and Davido did not quarrel until when the devil Zlatan came,” Portable claimed.
