HealthWoman Injured After Accidentally Wearing intimacy gadget To MRI Scan by alphonsojaybaz(op): 11:25am On Jan 09, 2025
Woman suffers major injuries after 'mistakenly' wearing a intimacy gadget to an MRI scan - she escaped with her life

A patient suffered horrific injuries after leaving a intimacy gadget inserted in their rectum during a medical procedure.

The device was inside the patient's back passage during a routine MRI scan, resulting in a hazardous reaction between the powerful magnets and the metal parts of the toy.

According to a horrific scan image the result was the object being dragged up through the patient, potentially damaging organs and tissue along the way.

Images circulating on social media that have been viewed millions of times show the item lodged inside the patient.

The picture was shared in May last year by social media user, 'DreadPirateZero', who captioned it: 'Never wear a butt plug to your MRI appointment. My god....'

The post detailed how powerful magnetic forces used to create an MRI's detailed scans reportedly pulled the metallic core of the silicone toy through the patient's rectum and up into their chest cavity at the 'speed of sound'.

The patient reportedly purchased the intimacy gadget on the basis it was'100 per cent silicone' which — while still unadvised to have inserted during a scan — would have been safe for interaction with magnetic energy.

But unbeknownst to purchaser the toy had a metal 'core' that reacted to these magnetic forces.

While the details remain unclear, a case flagged to health officials sheds light on what may have occured.

This report, filed a day before the scan image started being shared on the internet, tells of 22 year-old patient who was left 'screaming' after undergoing an MRI scan, and rushed to hospital.

The unnamed health professional who filed the report said the patient hadn't disclosed she had the intimacy gadget inside her before the scan started.

They said: 'She went in for the MRI and when the MRI was over and the tech was pulling the table out the patient started to scream.

'The patient stated that she felt nauseous, was in pain, and felt like she was going to pass out.

'An ambulance was called for this patient and she was sent to the hospital.

'The patient was checked out by the radiologist at the site before transport to ensure the patient was doing okay.

'The patient has not returned any of our calls yet to try and follow up to see how she is doing.'

PoliticsNECA Urges Governors: No Reason To Delay ₦70,000 Minimum Wage by alphonsojaybaz(op): 8:49pm On Jan 07, 2025
The Director-General of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Adewale Oyerinde, has asserted that no state government can justify failing to implement the newly approved ₦70,000 minimum wage by citing insufficient funds. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Oyerinde pointed out that with the federal government’s consistent increase in monthly revenue allocations to states, claims of inadequate funding are no longer valid. During an interview on Arise News on Tuesday, he discussed the implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2024. He urged state governments to exercise fiscal discipline in managing their resources to ensure the effective rollout of the new minimum wage.

“The issue of lacking funds to pay ₦70,000 doesn’t arise because it’s no longer hidden that the federal government is consistently supporting the states. Federal allocations to state governments have increased proportionately. With a little fiscal discipline, no state should claim it cannot pay the ₦70,000 approved by the president,” Oyerinde said.

The NECA DG expressed confidence that no state government would default on the new minimum wage, adding that the presentation of the 2025 budgets offers an opportunity for states to incorporate funds for the wage, especially those that claimed it was not included in their 2024 budgets.

“We don’t expect states to fail to pay. We believe it has been included in their 2025 budgets. Those that argued it wasn’t in their 2024 budgets are likely presenting their budgets now, or have already presented them to their houses of assembly. So we expect it to be in their 2025 budgets, and we sincerely hope that all states comply with the ₦70,000 wage,” he said.

Oyerinde also called on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to take proactive measures in engaging with state governments that might resist implementing the ₦70,000 minimum wage. He emphasized that non-compliance cannot be justified by claims of insufficient funds.

He reiterated that the new ₦70,000 minimum wage is now the standard and urged all stakeholders to ensure its implementation, despite the challenging economic conditions.

“If any state refuses to pay, since funding is no longer an issue, the NLC and TUC will need to intensify their engagement efforts and possibly reconsider their strategies to ensure all states comply,” he concluded.

“The reality is that ₦70,000 is now the standard, and everyone must adhere to it, except for those explicitly exempted.”

PoliticsCommon Bad Habits Of Girls In Lekki: A Look At Trends And Behaviors by alphonsojaybaz(op): 6:49pm On Dec 31, 2024
Lekki, a thriving neighborhood in Lagos, is known for its upscale living, beautiful beaches, and vibrant lifestyle. It’s home to many young professionals, entrepreneurs, and socialites, especially women who live and work in this fast-paced area. Like any community, there are certain habits and trends that can sometimes be seen more frequently in this particular area. While these behaviors can vary from person to person, there are some common habits among “Lekki girls” that have been observed over time. Let’s take a closer look at some of these habits and their impact. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
1. Excessive Social Media Use

One of the most common habits among girls in Lekki, and in many urban centers, is the overuse of social media. Platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat are often used not just for connecting with friends but also as a way of showcasing a glamorous lifestyle. Many girls in Lekki are known to post frequent updates about their fashion, parties, and vacations, sometimes creating a distorted image of their lives.

While social media is a powerful tool for personal branding and business promotion, excessive use can lead to a focus on appearance rather than authenticity. It can also encourage unrealistic standards, where “likes” and followers become a measure of self-worth, contributing to issues like anxiety, low self-esteem, and comparison.
2. Materialism and Status Symbol Chasing

Lekki is known for its high-end living, luxury shopping centers, and exclusive clubs, which can create a culture of materialism. Some girls in Lekki tend to place a lot of importance on owning expensive items—designer handbags, luxury cars, and high-end fashion—as a way to showcase their status. While there’s nothing wrong with enjoying luxury, when the pursuit of material goods becomes excessive, it can lead to unhealthy competition and even financial strain.

In some cases, the pressure to keep up with the lifestyle of peers can cause a sense of insecurity and a need to prove worth through material possessions. This habit can be harmful, as it prioritizes appearance over personal growth, relationships, or meaningful achievements.
3. Overindulgence in Partying and Nightlife

Lekki’s nightlife is popular, with many upscale clubs, bars, and lounges attracting both locals and tourists. The vibrant party scene is often a staple of the lifestyle in the area, with girls in Lekki frequently attending events, social gatherings, and parties. While going out and having fun is a part of life, an overindulgence in partying can become a bad habit.

Excessive partying may lead to poor health, missed opportunities for personal growth, and strained relationships. Some girls may get caught in the cycle of constant partying to escape stress or boost their social standing, which can negatively affect their careers, academic pursuits, or personal well-being.
4. Focusing Too Much on Physical Appearance

The pressure to look perfect is strong in a place like Lekki, where beauty standards are often tied to appearance, wealth, and social media presence. For some girls in Lekki, this can lead to an unhealthy obsession with physical appearance. Whether it’s undergoing frequent cosmetic procedures, over-exercising, or using filters to alter their looks online, these habits can lead to physical and mental health issues.

While self-care is important, focusing too much on external appearances can cause people to neglect their inner well-being. The constant pursuit of an idealized image may lead to insecurities, dissatisfaction, and a lack of self-acceptance, which can have long-term emotional effects.
5. Dependency on External Validation

In an area like Lekki, where social dynamics are often built around the opinions of others, some girls develop a habit of seeking constant validation from external sources. Whether it’s from friends, family, or social media followers, the need for approval can be overwhelming.

This dependency on external validation can harm self-confidence and prevent personal growth. When people rely on others to feel good about themselves, it can lead to a lack of genuine self-worth and a constant need for attention or approval, which ultimately diminishes true happiness.
6. Entitlement Mentality

The entitlement mentality is another behavior sometimes observed in Lekki. Some girls may feel entitled to certain luxuries, experiences, or attention simply because they live in a wealthy area or have a certain status. This sense of entitlement can lead to unrealistic expectations and disappointment when things don’t go as planned.

This habit can also lead to unhealthy relationships, as people may expect others to meet their needs without offering much in return. It’s essential to approach life with a sense of gratitude and humility rather than entitlement, recognizing that everything of value comes from hard work, respect, and mutual understanding.
7. Doing Anything for Money, Including Body Enhancement

A troubling habit that has been observed among some girls in Lekki is the extreme lengths some will go to in order to make money, especially with the aim of affording body enhancement procedures like a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). The pressure to look a certain way—especially in a society where beauty standards are heavily influenced by celebrities, social media, and peers—has led some girls to pursue drastic cosmetic changes.

In some cases, this has meant engaging in risky or unhealthy activities to fund expensive cosmetic procedures. The desire to have an idealized body shape often becomes a priority over other aspects of life, leading to dangerous financial and personal decisions. While cosmetic surgery is a personal choice, the pressure to undergo these transformations can result in poor financial decisions, strain on relationships, and long-term health issues. For many, the idea of achieving beauty at any cost outweighs the potential consequences, further feeding the cycle of materialism and external validation.
8. Gossiping and Spreading Rumors

Gossiping is a common habit that exists in many communities, and Lekki is no exception. In a highly social environment where many people know each other or are connected, it’s easy to fall into the trap of talking about others. Unfortunately, gossip and rumors can harm relationships, create unnecessary drama, and contribute to negativity.

Some girls in Lekki may engage in gossip as a way to fit in or feel powerful, but it can lead to broken friendships, misunderstandings, and an overall toxic atmosphere. It’s important to recognize the impact of words and work towards more positive and supportive interactions.
Conclusion

While the habits mentioned above may not apply to every girl in Lekki, they are some of the more common trends observed in this vibrant community. It’s important to recognize that these behaviors, if left unchecked, can have negative effects on both personal growth and relationships. That being said, there are many women in Lekki who balance their social lives with career success, personal development, and meaningful relationships.

Living in Lekki can be a wonderful experience, but it’s crucial to develop habits that support mental, emotional, and physical well-being. By being mindful of these common habits and striving for a more balanced and authentic lifestyle, girls in Lekki can make the most of the opportunities the area has to offer while avoiding the pitfalls that often come with a materialistic, fast-paced lifestyle.

PoliticsPere Reflects On Nollywood And Cinema Challenges After Losing Over 100 Million by alphonsojaybaz(op): 5:17pm On Dec 31, 2024
Nollywood actor and producer Pere Egbi has opened up about the challenges facing the Nigerian movie industry and cinemas, revealing that he lost over 100 million naira because of these issues.

Pere shared his story in response to a video by fellow actor Femi Branch, who criticized cinemas for unfair practices like promoting certain movies over others. According to Eyes of Lagos, Femi Branch had called out cinemas for their role in creating problems for filmmakers.

Joining the conversation, Pere shared his frustration as a victim of these challenges. He explained that he spent 150 million naira of his own money and borrowed an additional 11 million naira to produce one of his movies. However, the movie’s returns were disappointing.

Pere blamed the poor outcome on cinemas hiding films and giving them limited screen time. He said:

“Dear Femi Branch, I saw your video, and I want to thank you for speaking out. Everything you said is the truth. I was planning to wait until January 2025 to take action, but I think the time is now.

“As for Netflix and Prime Video, my movie The Silent Intruder is still not on either platform. It’s been one story or another. I spent over 150 million naira of my own money on the film, plus 11 million borrowed from an investor.

“To this day, I haven’t been able to pay back the loan because I haven’t recovered my costs. My movie made just 53 million in cinemas, and I only got a little over 8 million from it. No Netflix, no Prime Video!

“This is the struggle that new producers like me face. I’m still fighting!”

Pere’s story highlights the tough reality for many Nigerian filmmakers as they navigate the challenges of producing and distributing movies.

HealthHealth Challenges In Nigeria That Are Often Overlooked But Deserve Serious Atten by alphonsojaybaz(op): 7:30am On Dec 30, 2024
Health Challenges in Nigeria That Are Often Overlooked but Deserve Serious Attention

In Nigeria’s fast-paced environment, where daily hustle and survival often dominate, health issues are frequently pushed aside. With the current economic climate, influenced by “Tinubunomics,” many Nigerians tend to ignore health concerns that would typically warrant attention in more stable conditions. However, some health challenges should never be underestimated, as neglecting them can lead to severe long-term consequences. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Here are five health issues commonly overlooked in Nigeria but deserve much more attention:
1. Hypertension

Known as the “silent killer,” hypertension affects a large portion of the Nigerian population, many of whom are unaware they have it. Contributing factors include poor dietary choices, excessive salt consumption, and high stress levels. Unfortunately, routine blood pressure monitoring is not a common practice for many Nigerians. If left untreated, hypertension can lead to heart disease, strokes, and kidney damage. To prevent these complications, it is important for Nigerians to make regular check-ups a priority, maintain a healthier diet, and engage in consistent physical activity.
2. Diabetes

The rise in diabetes cases in Nigeria is concerning, but the condition often goes unnoticed until severe complications occur. Factors like poor eating habits, particularly the consumption of sugary and processed foods, play a significant role. Symptoms such as frequent urination, excessive thirst, unexplained weight loss, and fatigue are often ignored. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels, adopting healthier eating habits, and seeking proper medical care are essential for managing and preventing diabetes.
3. Hepatitis B and C

Hepatitis B and C are viral infections that can lead to chronic liver conditions and even liver cancer, yet they are frequently overlooked. Vaccination against hepatitis B is not a priority for many Nigerians, even though it is preventable. Raising awareness about how these viruses are transmitted—such as through unsterilized needles, unsafe sex, and blood transfusions—is crucial. Regular screenings, vaccination, and proper treatment are necessary steps to reduce the spread of these diseases.
4. Malaria

While malaria is a common issue in Nigeria, its potential consequences can be severe if not managed correctly. Many people rely on self-medication and unapproved treatments, which can lead to complications such as severe anemia or cerebral malaria. Preventive measures, such as sleeping under insecticide-treated mosquito nets, ensuring good sanitation, and seeking medical help promptly when symptoms like fever and chills occur, can significantly reduce malaria-related deaths and complications.
5. Mental Health Disorders

Mental health continues to be a taboo subject in many Nigerian communities, often leading to neglect and stigma. Issues like depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders are becoming more prevalent due to factors such as urbanization, economic strain, and societal expectations. Unfortunately, many individuals dismiss these problems as “mood swings” or “spiritual attacks.” However, untreated mental health issues can have a profound impact on one’s overall well-being. Nigerians need to seek professional help, create supportive environments, and push for greater mental health awareness and resources.

Conclusion

Health is wealth, and ignoring these challenges will only pave the way for more severe health issues down the line. Nigerians must shift away from neglecting their health and adopt a more proactive approach. Regular medical check-ups, making healthier lifestyle choices, and increasing health education can go a long way in preventing and managing these challenges. By taking your health seriously today, you are securing a healthier future for tomorrow.

PoliticsSee Reasons Why Edo People Feel Governor Monday Okphebolo Is Not Capable To Rule by alphonsojaybaz(op): 9:07am On Dec 23, 2024
Governor Monday Okphebolo’s tenure has been marked by several controversies and missteps that have led many residents of Edo State to question his competence. Here are five reasons why people feel he is not capable of ruling effectively:
1. Embarrassing Budget Reading on Live TV

One of the most glaring incidents was the governor’s public struggle to articulate and interpret the state’s budget during a live broadcast. This viral moment not only raised questions about his understanding of the budget but also about his general preparedness for governance.

Key Issues:

Difficulty in explaining budget allocations.
Mispronunciations and factual errors that undermined confidence in his leadership.

2. Policy Irregularities and Implementation Failures

Governor Okphebolo has faced criticism for inconsistencies in his policies and their implementation. Promises made during his campaign have either been partially fulfilled or completely neglected, frustrating citizens who expected better governance.

Examples:

Abandoned infrastructural projects, such as incomplete roads.
Erratic policy decisions that have disrupted local businesses and development.

3. Poor Management of State Resources

Allegations of financial mismanagement have further dented the governor’s reputation. Edo residents accuse his administration of misusing funds and failing to account for significant portions of the state’s budget.

Examples:

Inflated contracts awarded to dubious contractors.
Lack of transparency in the allocation and utilization of federal grants.

4. Inadequate Responses to Security Challenges

Insecurity remains a major concern in Edo State, with frequent reports of kidnappings, robberies, and communal clashes. Critics argue that the governor’s approach to addressing these issues has been lackluster and reactive rather than proactive.

Examples:

Failure to equip local vigilante groups adequately.
Delays in deploying necessary resources during crises.

5. Detachment from Grassroots Concerns

Governor Okphebolo is often accused of being out of touch with the average Edo citizen. His administration has been criticized for prioritizing grandiose projects over basic needs, leaving many communities without essential services.

Examples:

Neglect of rural areas that lack access to clean water and healthcare.
Limited engagement with citizens through town halls or public forums.

Conclusion

Governor Monday Okphebolo’s tenure has been marred by high-profile errors and perceived inefficiencies, exemplified by his budget-reading blunder on live TV. To regain the trust of Edo residents, the governor must address these issues with transparency, accountability, and a renewed focus on the needs of the people. Without significant improvements, doubts about his capability to lead will continue to overshadow his administration.

PoliticsHow To Manage Your Budget This Christmas In Lagos by alphonsojaybaz(op): 9:43pm On Dec 05, 2024
Christmas in Lagos is a time of celebration, family gatherings, and festive cheer. But with the festive season often comes the temptation to overspend, leading many people to start the new year with financial strain. The good news is that it is possible to enjoy a memorable and joyful Christmas in Lagos without breaking the bank. Here’s how you can manage your budget this Christmas in Lagos and still have a great time. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
1. Plan Ahead and Set a Realistic Budget

Before diving into the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and activities, it’s important to set a clear and realistic budget. Start by evaluating your income and expenses, then allocate a portion for Christmas-related activities. This could include gifts, food, transportation, entertainment, and any additional special expenses like travel.

Make sure your budget is balanced and within your means. While it’s tempting to splurge during the holidays, it’s crucial to avoid setting yourself up for financial stress in the new year. Set a firm upper limit and try to stick to it.
2. Be Strategic About Christmas Shopping

Christmas shopping in Lagos can be overwhelming, with the abundance of markets, malls, and street vendors offering endless options. To avoid overspending, create a shopping list ahead of time. Identify the gifts you need to buy and make a list of the people you’re shopping for, setting a specific amount for each person.

Rather than impulse buying or trying to outdo last year’s gifts, focus on meaningful, thoughtful presents that are within your budget. Consider homemade or personalized gifts that can add a personal touch without costing a fortune. You can also shop early to take advantage of sales, discounts, and promotions.
3. Shop Smart and Look for Discounts

Lagos is home to numerous shopping centers, both traditional markets like Balogun or Idumota and modern malls like The Palms and Ikeja City Mall. These offer a wide variety of options for all budgets. To make the most of your money, look for discounts, sales events, and special offers that occur during the Christmas season. Many stores offer Christmas sales, where you can grab items at discounted rates or benefit from special packages.

Online shopping can also be an option, as many e-commerce platforms offer deals and the convenience of browsing from home. Be cautious of delivery fees and ensure that what you order is within your planned budget.
4. Prioritize Food and Drinks

Food is a major part of the Christmas celebration in Lagos, but it can also be one of the biggest budget drains if not managed properly. Start by planning your meals in advance. Avoid last-minute grocery shopping and buy non-perishable items early. For traditional dishes like jollof rice, fried rice, or pepper soup, check out the cost of ingredients and compare prices at different stores or markets.

When it comes to hosting family and friends, consider potluck gatherings where everyone contributes a dish. This helps share the cost of catering and ensures that you can still have a delicious spread without overspending.
5. Set a Budget for Entertainment and Activities

Christmas in Lagos is synonymous with fun activities — from attending concerts and parties to visiting the beach or going out for dinners. However, entertainment can quickly add up. To avoid overspending, prioritize the events you truly want to attend and stick to your budget.

Take advantage of free or low-cost activities. Lagos has plenty of public spaces, parks, and beaches that offer entertainment without the hefty price tag. Instead of splurging on expensive restaurants or nightclubs, consider more budget-friendly options, such as local food spots, street vendors, or homemade meals.
6. Manage Your Travel Costs

Traveling during the Christmas season is another area where costs can spiral out of control. If you’re planning to visit family or friends in other parts of Lagos or travel outside the city, plan your transportation early. Prices for flights, buses, and even fuel tend to rise during the holiday season, so booking in advance can help you secure the best rates.

If you’re driving, consider sharing a ride with family or friends to reduce fuel and parking costs. If you’re using public transport, be sure to plan your route to avoid unnecessary delays and avoid surge prices associated with ride-hailing services during the holiday rush.
7. Keep Track of Your Expenses

Throughout the holiday season, it’s easy to lose track of spending. To avoid going overboard, keep a close eye on your expenses. Use budgeting apps or tools to monitor your purchases in real-time, ensuring that you stay within your designated budget. By tracking your spending, you can avoid impulsive decisions and make adjustments if you’re getting too close to your budget limit.
8. Don’t Forget Savings for the New Year

While it’s tempting to spend all your Christmas budget, remember that the holiday season is just one part of the year. Make sure you still have savings set aside for emergencies, unexpected expenses, or your financial goals for the new year. You can set aside a portion of your income or a percentage of the money allocated for Christmas to continue your savings habit, helping you start the new year on a strong financial note.
Conclusion

Christmas in Lagos is an exciting time filled with family, food, and fun. However, the festive season’s expenses can easily get out of hand if you’re not careful. By setting a budget, being strategic with shopping, prioritizing experiences over material goods, and keeping track of your spending, you can enjoy the holidays without the financial headache. With these tips, you can make this Christmas merry and bright, while still managing your budget and preparing for a prosperous new year ahead.

PoliticsFacts Behind Rumors Of Tinubu's Plan To Make Seyi Tinubu The Governor Of Lagos by alphonsojaybaz(op): 6:27pm On Dec 02, 2024
Facts Behind Rumors of Tinubu's Plan to Make Seyi Tinubu the Governor of Lagos State by Alphonso Olajide

In Nigerian political discourse, the idea of dynastic succession is not new. Recent speculation that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may be grooming his son, Seyi Tinubu, for the governorship of Lagos State has gained traction, fueled by specific events and historical patterns. The rumors intensified when Seyi Tinubu represented Nigeria in high-profile diplomatic engagements, including a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. While the Tinubu family has not officially confirmed these ambitions, several deep-rooted factors support this speculation.
1. A Tradition of Political Dynasties in Nigeria

Nigeria’s political landscape has long been dominated by families who pass the baton of power within their ranks. Prominent examples include the Sarakis in Kwara and the Yar’Aduas in Katsina. As a former Lagos State Governor and now President, Tinubu’s political network and history suggest a possible inclination toward securing his family’s political future, starting with Lagos State, his stronghold.
2. Seyi Tinubu’s Increasing Visibility on the Global Stage

Seyi Tinubu’s participation in high-profile meetings, such as his engagement with French President Emmanuel Macron, is unusual for someone with no official government position. This move hints at a deliberate strategy to position him as an influential figure both locally and internationally. By placing Seyi in diplomatic and strategic roles, Tinubu may be bolstering his son’s credentials for future leadership roles, including the Lagos governorship.
3. Control Over Lagos’ Political Machinery

Bola Tinubu’s deep control over Lagos politics cannot be overstated. As the architect of the modern Lagos State political structure, Tinubu’s influence in determining key political appointments and elections is unrivaled. This dominance enables him to position his son within the system, potentially paving the way for a governorship bid with minimal resistance.
4. Seyi’s Growing Influence in Lagos Business and Social Circles

Seyi Tinubu’s business endeavors, particularly through Loatsad Promomedia, and his philanthropic activities, have increased his visibility and acceptance in Lagos society. This growing influence reflects strategic groundwork to establish a strong grassroots presence and align him with the aspirations of Lagosians. Such maneuvers are often precursors to political ambitions.
5. Continuity of the Tinubu Legacy

President Tinubu has frequently spoken about his developmental vision for Lagos State, often described as the “Tinubu blueprint.” Ensuring continuity of this vision may involve installing someone he deeply trusts. Seyi, as a family member, represents a natural choice to continue his father’s legacy, securing the Tinubu family’s imprint on Lagos governance for another generation.
6. Speculation as a Reaction to Unusual Political Patterns

Skeptics have pointed to Seyi Tinubu’s increasing prominence in affairs traditionally reserved for elected officials or government appointees as a sign of grooming for political office. Critics see these moves, including his representation in official meetings, as a calculated strategy to build Seyi’s profile and normalize his presence in governance spaces.
Seyi Tinubu and the Macron Meeting: A Strategic Signal?

Seyi Tinubu’s attendance at the meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron raised eyebrows and fueled speculation. Diplomacy at this level is typically reserved for elected officials or top-ranking appointees, making his involvement a significant anomaly. Analysts suggest this move serves multiple purposes:

Building an International Profile: Establishing Seyi as a credible international figure who can represent Lagos or Nigeria on the global stage.
Reinforcing Tinubu’s Family Influence: Showcasing Seyi as part of the Tinubu political machinery’s extended network.
Testing Public Reaction: Observing how Nigerians respond to Seyi’s growing role in political and diplomatic affairs as a precursor to a potential governorship bid.

Conclusion

While there is no official declaration of Seyi Tinubu’s political ambitions, the combination of strategic positioning, his rising influence, and the Tinubu family’s dominance in Lagos politics supports speculation that he may be groomed for the governorship. The Macron meeting further reinforces these theories, signaling a broader plan to build Seyi’s profile for future leadership roles. Whether this speculation materializes into reality remains to be seen, but the signs are hard to ignore.

PoliticsIPOB Labels Supporters Of Ekpa’s Faction As Criminals by alphonsojaybaz(op): 11:50am On Nov 30, 2024
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself from the recent declaration of the “United States of Biafra” made at a convention in Lahti, Finland, organized by supporters of Simon Ekpa.

In a statement released on Saturday, IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful rejected any association with the event, labeling those backing Ekpa as “criminals engaged in illegal activities that are detrimental to their homeland.” The proclamation was made at a convention led by Dr. Ngozi Orabueze, who introduced herself as the Chief of Staff of the “United States of Biafra” and the organizer of the “Biafra Declaration of the Restoration of the United States of Biafra Convention 2024.” Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Videos from the event, which circulated widely on social media, showed participants waving Biafran flags and chanting slogans. However, IPOB reiterated its disavowal of the declaration and emphasized that it does not recognize the actions of Ekpa’s faction.

Powerful stated, “IPOB has no involvement in any conference. Those supporting Ekpa are criminals involved in illegal activities to destroy our land. There is no such declaration of Biafra from our side. Any claim that IPOB is hosting a conference is false. When IPOB makes an important announcement, the whole world will know. Those making such claims are fake.”

In response to the event, Sunday Edeson, spokesperson for the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), expressed that if IPOB successfully achieves Biafra’s independence, MASSOB would support and celebrate with them. He added that the British government would never back Biafran freedom.

Edeson remarked, “Everyone has the right to declare. They declared their freedom in Finland, but we are still under Nigerian leadership. We support them. Declaring independence in Finland doesn’t mean we’re free from the Nigerian government. We still use Nigerian currency, and security agencies are still from Nigeria. So, we’re still under Nigeria’s control.”

Politics5 Reasons You Can’t Trust This Federal Administration Over Lagos Monopoly by alphonsojaybaz(op): 10:34am On Nov 30, 2024
5 Reasons You Can’t Trust This Federal Administration Over Lagos Monopoly and the Tinubu Family’s Influence

The present federal administration, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assumed office on a platform of “Renewed Hope,” promising economic revival, transparency, and fair governance. However, since taking office, concerns about monopolistic practices tied to the Tinubu family and its influence over Lagos have come to the forefront. The Tinubu dynasty’s alleged control over critical sectors in Lagos and attempts to extend this influence nationwide raise serious questions about the administration’s credibility. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Here are five reasons why Nigerians are finding it difficult to trust this administration over Lagos monopoly:
1. The Tinubu Family’s Entrenched Influence in Lagos Markets

The appointment of Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, Tinubu’s daughter, as the Iyaloja-General (leader of market traders) has drawn widespread criticism. Her role gives her significant influence over Lagos markets, including the power to levy taxes and fees on market traders. Many traders complain about exorbitant levies, which lack transparency and accountability.

The growing fear is that this influence might extend nationwide under Tinubu’s federal administration, replicating the Lagos model of centralized control. The imposition of such market monopolies on a national scale threatens small-scale entrepreneurs and informal businesses that are already struggling in Nigeria’s tough economic climate.
2. The “Renewed Hope” Agenda Has Failed to Deliver

The administration promised economic revival, job creation, and a fairer system under the “Renewed Hope” agenda. However, these promises have yet to materialize. Instead, Nigerians are grappling with worsening economic conditions, including skyrocketing fuel prices, inflation, and a depreciating naira.

The focus on maintaining control through monopolistic structures like those seen in Lagos suggests the administration prioritizes consolidating power and wealth over addressing the needs of ordinary Nigerians. This betrayal of campaign promises further erodes public trust in the government.
3. Lack of Transparency and Accountability

The monopolistic tendencies in Lagos, particularly in sectors like transportation, tolling, and real estate, have often been linked to private interests controlled by individuals close to Tinubu. The toll gates on Lagos roads and the Lekki Concession Company, for example, have long been criticized for a lack of transparency in revenue collection and usage.

Now that the federal administration is led by Tinubu, concerns are growing that similar practices will extend nationwide, with limited checks on how public funds are managed. This lack of transparency fuels suspicions that the administration is prioritizing the enrichment of a select few over the welfare of the people.
4. Neglect of Inclusive Governance

The concentration of power within the Tinubu family and their allies reflects a governance model that excludes broader participation. Lagos has often been accused of being governed as a fiefdom, with key positions and resources controlled by Tinubu loyalists. Critics argue that the federal administration is replicating this exclusionary model by appointing individuals with close ties to the ruling elite to critical national positions.

This approach alienates large segments of the population, particularly those outside the political and economic networks of Lagos, and undermines the government’s claim to be a unifying force for all Nigerians.
5. Expanding the Lagos Model of Taxation Nationwide

The excessive taxation system in Lagos, where market traders and small businesses bear heavy levies, is now feared to be a blueprint for nationwide policy under the current administration. Traders in Lagos markets have long complained about being forced to pay levies without clear justification, with many attributing these charges to Tinubu’s political machinery.

With the federal administration now in Tinubu’s hands, there are concerns that this oppressive tax regime could be extended nationwide, exacerbating the hardships of small-scale businesses and ordinary citizens already struggling with the country’s economic downturn.
The Core Reasons for Failure

Broken Promises: The administration has failed to meet expectations, with little evidence of the “renewed hope” it campaigned on.
Consolidation of Power: Rather than fostering inclusivity, the government is deepening monopolies tied to a single family and its associates.
Economic Mismanagement: Policies that exacerbate inflation and unemployment show a lack of direction and prioritization of the common good.
Lack of Reforms: Critical sectors like education, healthcare, and infrastructure remain neglected while the focus stays on consolidating control over revenue streams.
Widening Inequality: Governance that benefits a small elite, rather than addressing the needs of ordinary Nigerians, is driving disillusionment.

Conclusion

The federal administration’s actions have done little to inspire confidence among Nigerians. Instead, they highlight an alarming trend of centralizing economic and political power in the hands of a few, with the Tinubu family playing a prominent role. From market monopolies to failed economic promises, the administration appears to be prioritizing personal and political interests over the well-being of the populace.

For a country yearning for genuine leadership and equitable governance, this administration’s approach represents a missed opportunity to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges. If these patterns continue, the legacy of “Renewed Hope” may be remembered as little more than hollow rhetoric.
