Heavy security was deployed at the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja as former Vice Chairman for PDP North Central, Abdulrahman Mohammed, resumed his role as the party’s acting national chairman.https://www.channelstv.com/2025/11/03/breaking-heavy-security-at-pdp-hq-as-mohammed-assumes-acting-chair-post/amp/

They said Christians are being killed in North Central but they want to establish a military base in Rivers State, the heart of Nigeria’s oil industry. Shouldn’t that tell you all that this is never about helping Christians? |
Ezeama400:SaharaReporters earlier reported that President Tinubu and United States President Trump were expected to meet in the coming days, either at the State House in Abuja or the White House in Washington, to further strengthen cooperation between both nations on counterterrorism and global security. |
I support a quick and effective diplomatic solution to the issues between Nigeria and America. While at it, Mr. President should not make any concessions that are economic in nature. Discussion about our natural resources should be completed out of the discussion. The killings in North central are barbaric, senseless and totally unacceptable. It must stop. However, what the US should do is to support the Nigerian government with intelligence gathering, training, arms and ammunition, air support etc. Invading Nigeria will only complicate issues for the entire Sub-Sahara region. |
SaharaReporters further learnt that President Trump had "delegated his Vice, James David Vance to meet with Tinubu during the visit," baring any last minute changes. President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to visit the United States on Tuesday amid the allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria and threat of military action by US President, Donald Trump, SaharaReporters has gathered. SaharaReporters learnt on Sunday from presidential sources that Tinubu will be in the US on Tuesday for top level diplomatic engagements with the US government. SaharaReporters further learnt that President Trump had "delegated his Vice, James David Vance to meet with Tinubu during the visit," baring any last minute changes. SaharaReporters earlier reported that President Tinubu and United States President Trump were expected to meet in the coming days, either at the State House in Abuja or the White House in Washington, to further strengthen cooperation between both nations on counterterrorism and global security. This was according to a statement issued by Daniel Bwala, Media Aide to President Tinubu, adding that both leaders share a common vision in combating terrorism and protecting humanity from violent extremism. Bwala had made the assertion after Trump designated Nigeria as a 'country of particular concern.' "Both President @officialABAT and President @realDonaldTrump have shared interest in the fight against insurgency and all forms of terrorism against humanity," Bwala had said. He noted that the Trump administration had extended significant support to Nigeria’s security efforts, which President Tinubu has effectively built upon. "President Trump has assisted Nigeria a lot by authorising the sale of arms to Nigeria and President Tinubu has adequately utilized the opportunity in the fight against terrorism for which we have massive results to show for it," the statement added. Bwala further stated that any perceived differences between the two leaders on the nature of terrorist targets in Nigeria would be addressed during their upcoming engagement. "As for the differences as to whether terrorists in Nigeria target only Christians or in fact all faiths and no faiths, the differences if they exist would be discussed and resolved by the two leaders when they meet in the coming days, either in State House or White House," he said. The Nigerian presidency’s comments came as President Trump warned that he would deploy the U.S. military to Nigeria if the “killing of Christians” in the country does not stop. According to Trump, the United States military may come “gun-blazing” into the country. "If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities." “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians,” he said. The Nigerian Presidency however issued a statement on Saturday, denying such genocide. The President emphasised that Nigeria’s constitution enshrines the protection of religious rights and that his administration continues to ensure equality for all faiths across the country. “Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty,” Tinubu said. He noted that since assuming office in 2023, his administration has maintained active engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders while working to tackle security challenges that affect citizens regardless of their religious affiliation. “Since 2023, our administration has maintained an open and active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders alike and continues to address security challenges which affect citizens across faiths and regions,” he stated. Tinubu dismissed what he described as a mischaracterisation of Nigeria’s religious landscape by external observers, saying such claims fail to reflect the country’s diversity and the government’s ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence. “The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality, nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians,” the President declared. He stressed that religious tolerance remains central to Nigeria’s national identity, insisting that the government neither supports nor condones persecution based on faith. “Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it,” he affirmed. Tinubu further underscored that Nigeria’s constitution guarantees protection for citizens of all faiths, reiterating that his administration will continue to work with international partners to promote understanding and safeguard communities. “Nigeria is a country with constitutional guarantees to protect citizens of all faiths,” he said. “Our administration is committed to working with the United States government and the international community to deepen understanding and cooperation on protection of communities of all faiths,” Tinubu added. https://saharareporters.com/2025/11/02/breaking-president-tinubu-visit-us-tuesday-meet-trumps-vice-jd-vance#google_vignette |
jmoore:Is sharia law the problem or killing and displacement of minorities from their ancestral land in the North Central? |
Unfortunately, this is going to be divisive narrative from the north. Any US intervention will be viewed as an attack on northern Muslims. Again, we unite to say NO to Donald Trump's planned invasion. The Us should work with Nigeria instead of invading the country. The outcome will be worse than what we have currently. |
Ecomfreecourse:I’m saying Trump is not coming to rescue anybody but to implement hidden evil resource grabbing agenda. |
ogbe88:Like they were crushed in Afghanistan , Libya, Syria etc right? |
chicfarmer:You don’t see the resources? You enjoy free education, subsidize electricity, subsidize healthcare, toll free roads all over the country, subsidize dollars for your foreign travels among other benefits. Your parents and relatives draws salaries and allowances monthly from local, state and federal governments. Yet, you’re saying you can’t see the resources. How do you think government has been funding all the above? From Tinubu’s pocket? |
derecho:The dog that will be lost won’t harken to the whistle of the hunter. God willing, we shall all be here to see how it all ends. |
Mrexcell:The invasion will not solve any problem. In fact, it will make things worse. So, it shouldn’t even be an option in the first place. There are two options, the US should provide Intel, arms, air support, surveillance, and other logistics to support the government to fight the insurgents. Second option, let’s divide the country peacefully. This may be the only viable option as political and ethnic interest will always make it difficult for a compromised military to fully and sincerely fight the insurgents. |
derecho:Of course, you can’t come up with any country that got better after a US invasion because there is none. Nigeria won’t be different because the purpose of the invasion is exactly the same. Unite after the intervention? As in, Yoruba people will unite with Ibo people after a regime change invasion? Do you guys even understand what you’re talking about at all? And who are these terrorists? Congolese? Ivorians? Chinese? You make me laugh so much. Those killing people are Nigerians from same or very close communities. They are killing over control of land and not for religious purposes. They are northerners backed by northern elites. There will be no unity after the invasion. We will be worse than Libya. |
derecho:Like Libya, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia, right? Mention just one country where the US military intervention has left the country better than before the invasion. |
derecho:The question is not about the dynamics of the situation but the outcome. Will the outcome be different? Has the outcome of a US invasion of a sovereign country ever be different despite different dynamics leading to the invasion? Do we have problem, absolutely yes. Are the killings condemnable and totally unacceptable, capital YES. So what should the US do? Work with the FG by providing Intel, arms, air support if necessary and other needed logistics. The criminals carrying out the killings are not in one location that can be bombed. Bombs can’t differentiate between Christians and Muslims. Innocent people will die in huge numbers. Once they come in with the military, the next thing is regime change. They will scatter everywhere and quickly start plundering your resources. When they are done, they leave a broken and fully destabilized country. No effective government with warlords and extremists taking over territories. The situation becomes worse than before the invasion. |
LagosOrigin:Sadly for you, bombs can differentiate between Christians and Muslim. The disruption, chaos and instability that will follow will not be able to discriminate between Ibo, Hausa and Yoruba. Foreign investors will mop up their money and trade will be affected. Our economy that is recovering will go into recession. It’s going to be a free fall for everybody. Ask the people of Libya, Afghanistan, Sudan etc of their experience. Be careful what you wish for. |
LagosOrigin:The bomb may end up dropping on you or your loved ones for all that Trump cares about. He doesn’t give a fvck about anyone of us. |
We must stand United against a foreign invasion that will spell doom for all of us. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia etc are recent examples. Those countries are now ruled by worse Islamic extremists and warlords than the ones in charge before the invasion. Trump has an evil agenda that is cloaked in altruistic intervention. No sensible person should buy the “we are coming to save Nigerian Christian” bullshit. |
Ezeama400:Trump is not coming to save you. Reducing the security challenges in Nigeria to genocide against Christians shows a complete lack of understanding of the complexities of Nigeria. I’m a Nigerian and Nigeria has been happening to me since I was born. And guess what, that’s why I will continue to stand in support of Nigeria against the evil agendas of foreign powers cloaked as altruistic interventions. They want to kill Dangote refinery so that western refineries can remain profitable. Elon Musk want your lithium raw instead of building factories to make the rechargeable batteries in Nigeria. Trump want a US military base in the Sahel after the US was expelled from Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso and Nigeria is the targeted possible host. These and many other reasons are why they want to declare war in Nigeria unprovoked. It has absolutely nothing to do with Christians. |
I stand fully with Nigeria. We won’t surrender our sovereignty to any foreign power.
|
Just wasted my time reading this crap. |
magoo10:So how should he have responded? You want to see something like “Oh dear Donald Trump savior of the world, thank you for placing Nigeria on the CPC and for threatening military intervention. We welcome your divine intervention to save Nigerian Christians from Islamic extremists. Please do quick and send in your soldiers to our country, we can’t wait to have them here. We love you Trump the savior” right? |
3Ceagle:Like I said, we have issues that can’t be wished away. The killings in the north central is totally unacceptable. However, the US should be providing support to the Nigerian government and not planning to wage war against a sovereign country. See, we all saw how US intervention ended in Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, Libya, Syria etc. Those countries are now fully under the control of extremists with some not even having a recognized central government with warlords controlling territories. So, how exactly will Nigeria’s case be different from what happened to the other countries? Boots on ground forever to maintain peace? Or perhaps, a permanent US military base in Nigeria? Is that the plan to get a foothold on the Sahel after Russia influenced Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso to expel US military? Is this what we want for our country? |
What is Trump demanding from Nigeria? What is the immediate action he’s requesting should be taken? There is more to this threat than trying to help Christians. This is not normal. |
Damagum and Debo Ologunagba who control the PDP Twitter handle have also been suspended. |
The killing of minorities in the north central region is embarrassing and out of control. It must stop. |
OctavianAC:China and Russia are on the same list of countries of concern. |
fergie001:Is it not inevitable? They should be looking for truce instead of trying to suspend Anyanwu and the legal adviser. What’s the point trying to remove loyalist of Wike and Saraki from the NWC of an already depleted party? |
DavidIN:Because irresponsible northern political leaders like Atiku supported the murder. They will shout persecution of Muslims if Tinubu is to revisit the case. You know the murder occurred under Buhari. |
Without doubt, there are legitimate concerns as regards the killing of minorities who are largely Christians in the north central region of Nigeria. Sadly, the irresponsible posturing of northern leaders like Atiku and El-Rufai etc have also sent the wrong signal of ethno religious extremism. When Deborah was murdered, it was irresponsible northern leaders who defended the murder. Atiku who initially condemn the murder quickly deleted his tweet in a show of solidarity with her murderers. El-Rufai has tweeted a lot of extremely hateful comments against Kaduna Christians. El-Rufai’s son recently tweeted that Fulani people will show kaduna Christians shege. These kind of message from Fulani leaders couple with the unrelenting killings always make it easy for a foreign power to use as excuse to implement their evil agenda under the guise of altruistic interventions. Hopefully, the Tinubu administration will intensify the effort to end the killings and bring all perpetrators to book. Further engagement with the US government to clarify the situation and address all issues raised should be quickly explored. |
Mr. President’s reaction.
|
AMINDA:Atiku cannot be arrested simply for deleting a tweet which signifies his support for the murder of Deborah by Islamic extremists. Arresting El-Rufai for all his extreme comments will only be interpreted as persecution of opposition elements. It will also send the wrong optics. However, El-Rufai’s cup and that of his evil children will soon be full. It is just a matter of time. |
