After world war 2, Germany was conquered by Americans from the West and Russians from the East, so they divided Germany into two, each controlling their German territory.
The West Germany as at that time was lively due to American influence, there social way of live, the standard of living, they even won the world cup.
So people from East Germany started migrating to west Germany which prompt the russians to build wall, later on the wall was brought down by the Americans which actually start the unification of Germany as a single country
