Bahrain’s Kemi Adekoya, who is a four-time Asian Games gold medallist and 2016 world indoor 400m champion, has tested positive for an anabolic steroid.

The 25-year-old, who was born in Nigeria but switched allegiance to Bahrain in 2014, has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for the banned substance stanozolol, the Athletics Integrity Unit has announced.

Confirming a ‘notice of allegation’ against the athlete, the Athletics Integrity Unit stated that Adekoya tested positive for the anabolic steroid in November, 2018.

A Danfo bus conductor, was, today, beaten to oblivion and thereafter set ablaze for allegedly stabbing a passenger to death during an argument over N50 change.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the finals of the ongoing African Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said he'd be supporting them to win the cup.

The corpses of dozens of soldiers and civilian Joint Task force (JTF) members killed by Boko Haram in Metele, Borno State, have still not been evacuated, according to SaharaReporters.

"It is devastating. More than 120 killed, including civilian JTF members who used to assist our men,” he told SaharaReporters.

“We have recovered close to 120 corpses. The terrorists came in large numbers to attacks them from every angle.

They tactically backed out; many are yet to return from the troops who went on the evacuation mission. The corpses of both soldiers and civilians JTF are yet to be evacuated."

"It’s been 2 years since I launched my first book “On Becoming by Toke Makinwa”, 2 years since I put my pain to paper and shared my journey with the world. It’s been such an incredible journey, it has sparked off so many conversations and ultimately there has been a lot of talk. Why did she air her dirt laundry? she tried to destroy her Ex, she monetized her pain, she’s cold and deserved everything she went through. Ive been criticized by people who later went on the same journey and found out that this life is full of twists and turns. but there’s also been victories won. The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Langbasa Police Station, SP Ada Okafor on 17/11/2018, arrested Peter Adida (in brown shirt) of No.9 Oyetayo Olafisoye street Westwood estate, Badore, Ajah, Lagos, for allegedly defiling his 2-year-old daughter.

Preliminary medical report indicated that there was penetration and that the baby is infected. When questioned by the female officer on who did it, the baby pointed out her father and was able to describe various sex positions he used.

The Commissioner of police, CP Imohimi Edgal, has directed that the matter be transferred to the Gender Section for further investigation. He admonishes parents and guardians to watch their children closely as predators are on the increase.

Tragedy struck on Friday as the convoy of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, hit and killed two women in Abua, Abua/Odual Local Government Area of the state.

According to Punch, the incident happened in Egbolom area of Abua Central-Ogonokom Road in Abua in the afternoon, and another woman was said to have been injured.

It was gathered that Cole was on his way to Otapha on a ward-to-ward sensitisation tour before the accident happened.

The security details of the governorship candidate, in an attempt to avoid hitting a motorcyclist on the road, swerved their vehicles to the edge of the road, crushing the women on the walkway to death in the process.

An eyewitness, who only identified himself as Kipoye, told Punch that Cole’s convoy hit the two women in Egbolom, while they were walking on the side of the road.

He said,

“The Rivers APC governorship candidate was on his way to Otapha in Abua on a ward-to-ward sensitisation visit.

“While on their way in Egbolom, a motorcycle suddenly joined the road and the soldiers leading the convoy tried to avoid hitting the bike and in the process, they swerved to the edge of the road, hitting and killing two women on the spot.

“The deceased women have been taken to the morgue. Right now, we have not been able to ascertain the identities of the women. But they are from Egbolom.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident, adding that Cole and the Divisional Police Officer of the area were currently in touch with the families of the deceased persons and the injured person.

Heartbreaking photos of 2-year old Abul Fadl Abbas Mustapha, son of Mustapha Ingawa, who was killed during the recent clash between Islamic group, Shi’ites and security agents in Abuja, have emerged.

The Business Administration graduate who is also currently a corps member, was buried on the 8th of November, 2018, amidst tears.

When it comes to gospel artistes in Nigeria, Tope Alabi is one of the popular ones.

She recently trended on the Internet with her spontaneous worship song, ‘Logan Ti Ode,’ which featured songwriter and celebrity photographer, TY Bello.

The video was viewed by hundreds of thousands of people on several multimedia platforms, especially on the YouTube and Instagram pages of both singers, with many fans sharing comments of how the song inspired and moved them to tears.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, the singer revealed that she composed 16 songs on that day, insisting that they were not pre-written.

According to Alabi, many celebrities live a fake life but despite the fame she enjoys, she has made a conscious effort not to live like them.

“I still go to the market to buy groceries; I don’t like the idea of living the life of a celebrity. Sometimes when I want to go out, I take public transport. There was a day I boarded the BRT bus in Lagos to get to the popular Balogun market; I could hear the passengers whispering to one another.

“They were arguing if I was the one or not. They were saying Tope Alabi is not a poor person so there is no way she will be on a public bus. When I was about to alight from the bus, I revealed my identity to the driver, and this made many of the passengers to also get down from the bus to take pictures with me.

“Sometimes, it is necessary to have a taste of what it feels like to be an ordinary woman on the street. Many celebrities do not live their real life and are not free to do whatever they like; that is why I don’t restrict myself. When someone is not free to do what they feel like doing, like every other person on the street, it causes depression which can even lead to death.

“Some people try to sell fabric worth N20,000 to me at the rate of N100,000 because I am a celebrity; they don’t bother to find out if I have that kind of money or not. Living a fake life can lead to indebtedness as some celebrities always want to meet up to a certain standard,” she said.

Alabi explained how she enjoys going on long walks in her neighbourhood, describing it as “the kind of life I like.”

“Someone once told me to get escorts for security reasons, but I declined because I didn’t need them and still don’t need them. I am still discrete about my movement but I still live a normal life.

“I believe in buying only the things I can afford; I’m not materialistic. I always hear different stories of celebrities that lie about their material possessions; there is no need to live an extravagant life at all,” she added.

Interestingly when she was young, Alabi’s parents wanted her to become a Sister as according to her, they knew she would work for God.

The presidential candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Fela Durotoye, has said Nigerian leaders do not value the nation’s education sector because they (leaders) lack ‘qualitative’ education.

Mr Durotoye made this known at an annual leadership and entrepreneurs’ conference organised by the students of the Department of Economics, Obafemi Awolowo University, on Wednesday.

His criticism is coming at a time university lecturers are clamouring for proper funding of Nigerian universities and have shut down academic activities in various schools.

Recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on an indefinite and ‘total’ strike on Sunday and the compliance of some schools.

Addressing the comatose state of the education sector, Mr Durotoye said Nigerian leaders do not really have the quality “of what we can call education”.

“Since most of them have no idea of what education actually means, they are always finding it very difficult to actually define the space of education in a nation’s development. If you do not have something it is possible for you not to value it” he said.

Also, he faulted the curricular of the country’s tertiary institutions, saying “there’s need to have practicing individuals in the disciplines design it.”

“We can specialise our institutions, and once we specialise our institutions, we specialise the people. Our generation must build a nation where everybody gets equal values without necessarily have to know anybody, where you want and receive equally those opportunities the rich get easily.”

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has revealed that the federal government spends N3.5 million every month to feed the leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

He made the revelation during a recent press conference. 

"It cost the government about N3.5 million every month to feed him" Lai said.

The IMN leader is facing trial over allegations of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace, among other charges.

El-Zakzaky and his wife were first arraigned on May 15, 2018, following their arrest in Zaria, in December 2015.

Celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji's baby daddy, Sholaye Jeremi has blocked her from reaching him and wants nothing with her and their baby, Jayce, according to a new report by Kemiashefonlovehaven.

The reports say millionaire Sholaye Jeremi is head over heels in love with former model and owner of Beth Africa Modelling Agency, Elizabeth Elohor.
