Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has denied nominating Mr Peter Obi as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice-presidential candidate.

Wike said the visit of four South South governors to President Muhammadu Buhari had no political connotation, noting that the governors were in the Presidential Villa to discuss the development of Niger Delta.

He spoke in an interview with Channels Television Roadmap 2019.

Wike said:

“I never nominated Peter Obi. But the mere fact that the Vice Presidential Candidate is coming from the South-East does not give the zone the sole right to nominate a person , since the entire country will benefit.

“When the South-East said they were not consulted before Peter Obi was nominated, where did we meet as a party to agree that the Vice Presidential Candidate must come from the South-East. But we said if the Presidential Candidate believes he has somebody to work with, we said so be it “.

Seems all is not well with celebrity couple and Tinsel stars, Gbenro Ajibade and Osas Ighodaro's marriage.

The lovely couple who have a 2-year-old daughter might be going through a rough patch in their marriage currently.

Every marriage and relationship has it's own troubled times, so Osas and Gbenro might just be going through theirs at the moment, and we hope they work things out ASAP.

Here are things we noticed....

Today is Osas' birthday, and Gbenro has not wished her a happy birthday on Instagram, in fact, he blocked the comment section on his latest Instagram post he made two days ago.

Gbenro has been in Atlanta Georgia since March this year, while Osas is still in Nigeria.

Their 3rd wedding anniversary in July this year wasn't acknowledged by either of them on social media, unlike before.

Gbenro is no longer following Osas on Instagram, although Osas is still following him, and still has his name on her Instagram page.

The couple have deleted 'all' photos of each other on Instagram (especially Gbenro).

One of Gbenro's IG follower commented today;

"Hope it’s not what am thinking ooo.Why didn’t you wish your wife a happy birthday and why did you disable comments on your recent picture..it had better not be!!"

Recall that in the early stage of their marriage, Gbenro was called out by social media users, saying he marriage Osas who is a US citizen for the green card.

Well, Gbenro denied this in an interview with Punch last year saying he never wanted to get married let alone be the husband of a beauty queen.

“Right now, I have a bone to crack with her family because they think I am intentionally refusing to do my green card. I have not done it even now. It is funny how people think. 

“I and Osas had been legally married in a court in the US two years even before the public knew we were going out. If I had wanted green card, I would have done it since but I felt it would be a distraction. I didn’t marry her because of that.” he said.

They are such a lovely couple and we hope this is not another celebrity marriage heading for a divorce.

The body of Efemena Okedi, wife of late Reggae star, Ras Kimono, was on Friday laid to rest at Atan cemetery, Yaba, Lagos.

Okedi was Kimono’s manager and a member of his band when they were alive.

Ras Kimono’s wife, Efe laid to rest amidst tears She passed away on June 10, at a Lagos hospital shortly after the death of her husband.

The late Efe was buried at exactly 10.45 a.m. in a solemn mood amid tears from friends and family.

Ras Kimono died after a brief illness and was laid to rest on Aug. 28, in Asaba.

A 36-year-old Nigerian father of one who died following a violent struggle with police, on Wednesday, has been identified by the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office as Chinedu Valentine Okobi.

The confrontation occurred on the 1300 block of El Camino Real in Millbrae about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said Okobi was running in and out of traffic and “immediately assaulted” a deputy who tried to make contact with him.

Four other deputies helped take Okobi into custody. One of them fired a Taser, said San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe, whose office is investigating the death with the coroner.
Okobi was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The deputy Okobi allegedly attacked, was also treated at a hospital for unspecified injuries.

The deceased was not armed, but he stood 6-foot-3 and weighed 330 pounds, Wagstaffe said. All of the deputies who were involved in the confrontation have been placed on paid leave.

The investigation, which will include Okobi’s official cause of death, is expected to take no more than 10 weeks.

However, in a post on Facebook, his elder sister, Ebele Okobi, said he was struggling with mental issues.

CNN has released its report on the Nigerian sex slaves in Paris.

A Nigerian lady, Nadège who managed to escape told CNN her heartbreaking story. According to her, she was gang raped at 6, raped again at 15 and had her first abortion, and she was trafficked for prostitution at 20.

A row of dirty vans is parked on a broad, tree-lined avenue in the outskirts of Paris. In the dark of night, fluttering candles light up the faces of the women in the front seats.

None of them wear more than their underwear.

Others, wearing miniskirts, stand outside underneath street lamps, facing out onto the empty road.
Nadège was one of these women before she managed to escape.

She is softly spoken. "Even now I don't have hope for myself," she says. "My past already destroyed my future."

The Bois de Vincennes, a sprawling park on the outskirts of eastern Paris, is home to horse riding schools and a zoo. It has also been part-commandeered by human traffickers.

The park's central road is yet another point on the map of a massive cross-continental trafficking network that has channeled tens of thousands of Nigerian women and children throughout Europe and as far as Malaysia.

Like them, Nadège says she was trafficked from Nigeria to France and forced into sexual slavery, at €20 ($23) per client, to pay off a colossal debt to a female Nigerian love-vendor known as a "madam."

'I was told it was like a paradise'

Nadège, who could not give her real name for safety reasons, grew up in southern Nigeria. She says that when she was just six, she was raped by a group of neighbors. Her parents sent her to live with an aunt.

But Nadège says her aunt was murdered after refusing a local gangster's marriage proposal for her niece. Nadège discovered her aunt's dead body.

At 15, Nadège says, she was raped once again and had her first abortion.

Alone, she was easy prey for traffickers. A madam she met in Lagos promised her a better life in Europe, working as a waitress.

"I was told it was like a paradise," Nadège tells CNN. "But getting here, it was like from frying pan to fire."

The European Asylum Support Office (EASO) says that recruitment for trafficking to Europe is strongly concentrated in Edo State, in southern Nigeria, the region where Nadège was born.

Before leaving, the madam made Nadège swear an oath at a "juju" temple with a native doctor of Ayelala -- a traditional belief system from southern Nigeria.

Nadège swore to repay her madam for sending her to Europe, and to never speak of her oath, or her debt, to anyone. It's the same for so many Nigerian women trafficked for sex.

Yehudi Pelosi, a lawyer who specializes in asylum law and human trafficking, said that as part of the ceremony the women are often forced to eat a kola nut and a chicken heart, and drink a concoction of gin and blood. Some of their pubic hair is taken, and their head, breasts and shoulders are often ritually scarred.

Charities working closely with the women say they are petrified of the oath's power. Nadège was convinced that breaking it meant going mad or dying.

Families suffer, too. Charities say madams pay "cultists" -- military-style gangs -- to threaten and sometimes kill girls' relatives back home.

"Your parents are not safe... I love my mum, I don't want anything to happen to her," said Nadège.

Nadège described her journey to France. She flew on a commercial flight, with a fake passport her madam gave her. She was sent to work in the Bois a week after she arrived. She was 20 years old.

Her debt, she was told, was €50,000 ($57,690). Others pay €60,000 ($69,226).

Her madam gave her a €100 daily target and took away her passport and all her earnings, except money for food and rent.

"Sometimes you work from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the morning, maybe get home by 8 a.m.," she says.

She would start work again, elsewhere, from 3 p.m., she says. "Until 6 p.m., then you have to go to your normal place of work."

Most of the Nigerian women working in the park are "slaves," she says. "Some are free, but the prostitution has eaten deep into them."

Nadège once asked a man why he came to the street, she says, wiping away a tear. "He said, 'I'm a divorced man, so I have to make myself happy.'"

She says she is sure that he and the rest of the clients understood the Nigerian women's situation.

"There are brains and talent wasting in Vincennes," Nadège says. "So many can sing, so many can dance... But the prostitution, the oath, the fear, just overshadowed everything."

"Sometimes when you get home," she says, "you have to sit in hot water for hours before you can get yourself back."

After nearly a year of relentless work, the turning point came when Nadège became pregnant.

She and her boyfriend decided to keep the baby, which meant escaping the vise-like grip of the network.

Nadège continued working as a prostitute briefly while she was pregnant, but stopped making payments to her madam.

"I was waiting patiently for the death or the madness," she says. "I was like... 'Should I go over to the street and start working? Should I abort my baby?'"

She has escaped harm, for now; the networks have less of a physical presence in France. And with the help of a lawyer, she has been able to gain asylum there.

Women like her are eligible for asylum on grounds of persecution if they can prove they have been trafficked and have distanced themselves from the network.

Breaking away from the network, she says, was "the best decision of my life." But Nadège is profoundly traumatized.

"I'm no longer beautiful," she says, "my glory's been taken."

"I complained I was raped when I was 15. Imagine me coming to Europe to sleep with 10 men per night."

Serial entrepreneur and celebrity stylist, Toyin Lawani, has revealed she is worth more than N300 million.

She made the revelation in an interview with Funke Olaode, where she talked about her business, sex scandals and success. Read excerpts below...

You have about 30 enterprises under the same roof. What is your winning formula? How is that possible?

Yes, it is doable. Because nobody can do it alone and when you realise you can do it alone then you won’t crash. You have to get professionals, different managers to man different departments who will report to you and you can go back to sleep. I don’t joke with my creativity. I am the creative director behind Elegante by Tiannah. My passion makes it easy for me; because when you have a passion for what you are doing things usually become successful.

Is it true Tiannah Empire is worth over N300 million?

It is very true! It is not money that I pumped in once so that I don’t scare other young people who might want to toe my line of businesses. I started my business with N150,000 at the age of 16 in 1998. The business has been able to move itself up to this level. So you can start small and look for a mega business that will bring massive money. My work has been able to get me huge money from working with individuals and companies because of my creative ideas and ability to maintain high standards.

When a man succeeds he is praised. But when a woman succeeds she is accused of using ‘bottom power’. How do you think women can change the narrative?

Women like me make people change their minds and work hard. People tell me how I inspire them and how watching Tiannah Empire Reality Show has changed their lives. Most men feel that they are the breadwinners and most of the time when women succeed on their own they still ascribe that success to men – which is not true. Believe me, women sometimes are the one pulling themselves down by making snide remarks that there must be a man pumping money for their fellow women to succeed or achieve this or that. I will say to women out there that want to chase their dreams to forge on regardless of marriage because if a man loves you he will support you and push you to greatness.

You have had your fair share of scandals. How do you handle them particularly those that are not true?

Most times it is always very painful when you read things about yourself that are not true. And you know you work very hard to inspire others and people choose to give you bad a bad name. Most times I feel like addressing them especially the ones that have to do with my children. Most people don’t put their kids out there. But I put mine out there because they are destined for greatness. They have their own talent for acting, music, etc. And if they grow up and say that is what they want to do I will give them my blessing. Like I said earlier, I respond to those that have to do with my kids. I can only urge people not to believe everything they read on the internet which can either be negative or positive. To answer your question, scandals don’t get to me. And what you say about people does not define them.

But on many occasions the scandals are self-inflicted. Like when you said marriage is not a priority.

Yes. I repeat it marriage is not a priority. Most people feel like those who are single mums like me are cursed or we’re not to be respected. I speak to several families and even have people that I impact their lives. Do you know how many salaries that I pay every month? Some men cannot do that. I pay almost 100 people salary every month. Then you will now tell me that because you are married you’re better than me. You that are in your husband’s house and being fed and at the same time being slapped every day. If you are contributing to that family do you think they will be slapping you every day? We all learn from experience. I have been married before but because I wanted something more for myself I was able to leave the marriage and chase my dreams.

But there was a rumour that the father of your son, Lord Trigg, proposed and marriage was in the offing before it fizzled out.

I have only been married once in my life. I decided to leave the second relationship because it wasn’t working for me. I have shown him (Lord Trigg) severally that we can co-parent without being enemies.

People thought the relationship failed due to the huge age difference between you two. Is that correct?

It is not because of the age difference. Age has never been a problem between us. Can’t you see how sexy I look? Do you think any man would see me and wouldn’t want to die? Oh my God! We were both in love. It wasn’t even a societal pressure. But a personal decision because it wasn’t what I wanted for myself. I have learnt my lesson that when I have anything coming up I am not going to put it in the press.

If Mr. Right shows up, will you consider marriage again?

Why not? So far that Mr. Right is going to help me achieve my dreams, supports me in my late night work etc. You know what? It is even hard for some people to support your dream because they feel you are supposed to be a mum, stay at home breast-feeding (babies). I played my role well as a wife. I cooked for him and took care of my home. I make sure that I do everything but he has to support my passion, if that is what will give me joy. But most men want their wives to stay at home and just be a mum. I have exposed my children to my business and I take them along. My daughter knows everything that I do. I can be so intimidating. I have been with someone who is far richer than me and I have been with someone that I am far richer than.

You set the internet on fire recently with a semi-nude photo you in a bathtub posted online. Why did you go to that extent to advertise a beauty product?

If I didn’t do that how do I convince my customers that the product is working? That wasn’t a nude photograph. Did you not see my hands across my chest with my products in-between? Just small thing and everybody was shouting. You know I schooled abroad where I learnt about beauty. I am very exposed and don’t see it as a big deal. Meanwhile, when Beyoncé does it they will be hailing her – or even Rihanna. People should just go and sit down because they are hypocrites.

You mean you don’t have any regrets?

What regrets? I am making money. You better look out for my next photographs. When people see my skin sparkling come and see the way they rush to get my products. I use strictly Tiannah Beauty Glow products. I don’t joke with my herbal magic polish. My black soap, my scrub –everything is Tiannah’s Glow.

Then you have tattoos in strategic places.

Yes. They are my children’s names and I carry them everywhere I go.

Nigerian migrants held in Libya were rescued after releasing a video from their cell that went viral on social media and caught the attention of authorities.

A group of migrants held inside a detention centre in Zawiya in Libya, risked their lives to shoot the video in July, showing poor living conditions and people pleading for help.

“They refuse to deport us,” says a man in the video that was shared over WhatsApp and other social networks. “We are suffering here, we are dying here… they are keeping us here for business.”

The video was sent to France 24 Observers, a citizen journalism initiative, in July.

After seeing the video, the journalists flagged the attention of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which helps organise voluntary returns from Libyan detention camps.

The migrants returned to Nigeria on August 30.

“If not for that video we wouldn’t have been able to come back to Nigeria, I believe that,” Efe Onyeka, a 25-year-old Nigerian who shot the video, told AFP.

Onyeka was arrested trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to get to Europe where he had dreams of becoming a footballer.

Shooting the video put his life in danger. Another Nigerian who helped film was almost beaten to death by guards, said Onyeka.

“They beat all of us,” Onyeka said, speaking from Nigeria’s Delta state. “They used pipes and sticks, they would not give us food.”

“We were underfed, the water, it was from the latrine,” Onyeka said.

In the end, Onyeka spent over four months in detention.

“I’m traumatised. I have nightmares about Libya, about the prison,” he said. “The journey is not worth it.”

Onyeka is one of about 2,700 migrants who have made it back to Nigeria through IOM’s voluntary return programme this year, said the body’s Nigeria spokesman Jorge Galindo.

“It wasn’t an exceptional case in the sense that their conditions are bad,” said Galindo.

“But in terms of people making videos that have managed to get into the hands of journalists, I’ve rarely heard about this before.”

Since the voluntary return programme began in 2017, close to 10,000 Nigerians have come home, said Galindo.

On September 10, the United Nations criticised Nigeria for failing to tackle human trafficking, after a human rights mission looked at efforts to stamp out the organised trade in people.

“What is being done is not enough,” the world body’s special rapporteur on the subject, Maria Grazia Giammarinaro told reporters at the end of a visit.

Media personality, Toke Makinwa's ex-boyfriend, Seyi Kuye who tied the knot in a private ceremony in May, has welcomed a baby boy with his girlfriend, Oluwayimika Angel Kuye .
