Not if they have prior notice, police do not investigate financial crimes, that's the EFCC's job, this particular case involves gathering of evidence and intelligence before they could take action, which is what the EFCC is there for and they're also better equipped to handle it.

Instead the DSS raided people's homes in the middle of the night like militant forces.

The DSS have the right to arrest criminals while the EFCC has prosecuting power just as the police and the ICPC.

Now, secret police or otherwise, it's still not their job to handle financial crimes, the way it works is, if they get wind of any financial crime taking place they hand it and any evidence over the EFCC, simple as that.

Also finding out how much someone has in their accounts is a far cry from finding out that not only does someone stash cash in their home, but also how much is in there without ever making visual or physical contact with this money.
That sounds more like magic to me.
