Hello bro. Can you please avail me with your email address so o can send a mail to you. I can sense great help from you with respect to my study Visa process. Thank you and congrats! doublezero7: So i am compelled to give some recent tips I found valuable during the course of my visits to the US embassy. Hopefully, someone here or in future would find it useful.
1. Prepare like your life depends on it. A friend of mine got approved by the same white lady that denied me on the 21st. I was really happy for her because we all knew she didn't need to travel to the US to study. But the amount of work she devoted into getting her visa was amazing. She'd say, "what is worth my time at all is worth doing well!" And that's her motivation to prepare. She's also never been on this thread or even on NL. So things don't have to be so deep before you ask people who have gone through the phase for help.
2. Early preparation is key. I made up my mind to leave to study around January and started contacting schools, asking questions from the gurus here and outside here, and began drafting my transcript. I got all the responses i needed earlier around Augist/September amd got my admission decision earlier in October. I was always in Tolatof's face and he had tp say, "bro, go write the GRE first and start applying before we start geting serious." But me i was all in at this point. My point here is, don't wait till it is very late before you begin your preparations. Contact people who have genuine knowledge and not time wasters. I will come to this much later.
3. The God factor. So i will sound like a broken record here. Especially because of my educational background in Philosophy. But God does exist. And every of your supplication gets to Him. Even in the most irrelevant of circumstances, like eating or sleeping or driving, a sincere prayer to him goes a long. In my case, the first thing i did was find out from Him if he wanted me here or i should go study. He gave me the all clear to go. And it wasn't convenient cos i am supposed to be married this December but now we had to postpone till next year. God will not ask you to do something and not provide the means to make the decisions you'd take easier... no matter how privileged you are. Please i am a living witness, so this fact is not up for argument. Things got rough at a point but he showed up over and over again.
4. Let your documents and information match. This is as clear as anything. Most people get denied because of something so intangible and when you ask them why, they'd say, "I don't even know!". Truth is, we would always know. Except we aren't 100% honest. I knew why i was denied at first because the VO told me to go on the US embassy website and get the information I need. Took a while to set in but once i sorted my emotions, i had the strength to try again. Go in with the right documents. Go in with authentic documents. You'd be fine.
5. Try again...if you are completely honest about your intentions. So i avoided the world 'genuine' here because I didn't want to sound insensitive. But please be honest about why exactly you need to relocate temporarily for studies. Then don'tbe afraid to try again. Take every interview as an opportunity to talk about yourself to a new person. I did this and it worked and many more have done this. Check past transcripts that turned from blue paper to white, you'd see a pattern. Everyone who got approved wanted it more than they did the first time...and they get it.
6. Contact genuine people. I will try to list names of the people I was in regular contact with and those i just asked quick questions. But before then, I should add this, i totally respect Lagosismyhome, even as i didnt have a need to ask her anything. But the way she answers most questions speaks volume of her personality.
Walspring also earned my respect. He helped with my SEVIS fee payment and i totally would recommend him to everyone who needs help with anything related to this.
Tolatof (for president 2019...lol) is an amazing person. He started this journey with me almost at the time he got his study visa approved. And even though he's been so scarce nowadays, he was really awesome for me at the start.
100kobo. He had the most influence in all of the interview process. From helping me breakdown my points to 3-4 dope sentences to asking me to take out some points completely. And a lot more. I contacted him because of i needed someone who wouldn't support whatever bullshit i had going on. And oga grilled me o. Revised transcripts upon transcripts. To God be the glory, it all worked out. Months of preparation paid off.
Ubah ( can't remember his full moniker) He was tremendous in giving insights and what he thought was the right thing to do. Thank you sir.
There are a whole lot more that helped. And even as i can't go on with the names, the most important thing is you know that i value and appreciate you all. Thank you.
7. Pray like you haven't prepared for a single day. Well, this point is relative because atheist get good things going on for them sometimes. But if you want great things going on for you every time (especially during this phase), pray like never before. Ask your mom and siblings to pray on your behalf. Believe me it works. Everyone that knew I flew into Abuja to interview yesterday prayed at the 12am and 9am mark. Mesef didn't pray as much as that. Little things matter. And please don't ever underplay the impact of prayer.
That should be all. I would disappear for a while here. But as 100kobo told me yesterday, he helped me because he hopes i help other people. So i am determined to make sacrifices. If you have issues you think i can help with, don't hesitate to send me a pm. God will help us figure everything out.
Cheers. |

lextube: Supposing I publish an advert on a National Newspaper disowning my parents stating these reasons, and then attach it along with my application to show the V.O that I do not have anything to do with my parents because I don't want their actions to affect me my chances of getting an education in America. Do you think it will sell? Do you think it will make the V.O judge my case for I am, and not my parents? My dear, rather than do this, please avoid mentioning them since they are not your sponsors. If the VO should ask, just say they are old and retired. Somethings are also better not said especially in a public forum as this all because of a Visa. Also, going to the extent of having a newspaper publication dispensing them would only pose more very sensitive and tactical questions from the VO that I am sure you might not be able to defend. Cast that thought out brother! People got their visas without their parents too so that's that. Good luck to you. |

tunz001: Hello house, Thanks a lot to those that reached out to me concerning the issues I had with WES then.actually I have used ECE ,it is sorted already. Thanks a lot So my question tonight is..I got admitted into two schools and I will be going for my interview soon but the issue I am having now is, I had four recipient schools in which I choosed on my TOEFL but I cldnt meet up with the cut off of the remaining two schools ,so I settled for the remaining two schools which I applied to both and got admitted into both.my question now is should in case I was asked for my TOEFL result and they saw four schools there whereas I already said that I apply to just two.hope it won't be like a red flag?...or should I jst say 4? Note: I didn't apply to the remaining two schools at all...please help a brother! Is ECE like WES? Because it seems WES is beginning to have more conditions. Do schools accept from ECE too? If yes, how do i go about my evaluation with ECE rather than WES. Thank you |

Adhheir: So sorry to hear this, i dropped wvu because of their mandatory official transcript (I'd rather go through the stress of official transcripts when I'm very certain I'll be attending) after sending both my GRE n TOEFL scores to them.. Wasting of score reporting slot; I was your silent fan, hoping you'd get an assistantship when you announced your admit; I think the last advice about mailing the school is still the best and if you inadvertently have to take the GRE, B.Y mafit offers free classes with the GRE fee; the class might help you with the scores you need and mitigate the stress of studying by oneself. Go easy on yourself it'll eventually end in praise The lady hasn't responded to my request for clarification meeting. However, can you please share the B.Y mafit contact? I am not certain on my decision yet but please share. Thank you. |

victree007: Why not mail the school's admission office and the program assistant to inquire if it will be possible to retake the GRE after getting to the US. You can give them valid reasons why you just can't take the test right now. Sorry about all the heartaches jare. It happens to the best of us Thanks so much dear. I have tried to book a Skype meeting with the lady and she hasn't responded. She is obviously taking her time. That is already listed amongst my questions for her. I thought theses things only happen in Nigeria. |

I am in severe pain and I need HELP because looking back through this whole journey, I am at the verge of giving up even when I know i have a great passion for this.
In July 2018, I was admitted into WVU but because of timing and immigration process, I deferred to Spring 2019 so I can get my 1-20 and other things.
August 2018, I received a notice of successful deferred admission and going through the whole process and getting done, I got a mail from my program assistant this morning that following one policy, I would need to retake the GRE test before I can continue with my admission because according to her "The state is requiring that students have a GRE score of at least a 296.. You are only 6 points off." I had a 290
She attached the policy for me but God knows I am completely drained and do not have that work/GRE study strength again. What can I do? I am just too sad! After giving me admission then they come up with this when I am just having a prayer point of visa. Someone help!!!: |

You should try contacting your family or friends in Abuja if it's something they can pick up They did not pick a proxy form so that isn't an option according to the rep in Abuja where the passport is. |

I need urgent help from an experienced person.
My parents had their Interview in the US embassy on Thursday for visiting visa and it was approved. My worry now is that the passport/visa was erroneously sent to a wrong location (Abuja) which is too too far from our location.
How do I get it sent back to PH. I have made several calls without any result. Everyone kept redirecting me till I even got to call a US number which is the help line yet it ended up that they should go themselves to Abuja to pickup. That is a heavy problem.on me now because they are old and the stress of going and returning same day would be too hectic coupled with been fragile. How do I help my aged parents get their passports from the Abuja embassy (fraudulent people stay off this message please)
Thank you |

Timotee: It depends on when you will be interviewing for your visa. As stated previously, your passport needs be valid for at least 6 months by the time you are issued your visa. However, this is where your case gets a little tricky. If you're looking at Fall 2019, you're allowed to attend your visa interview up to 120 days in advance of your school resumption date. So assuming that your school resumes in August, the earliest date that you can interview for your visa will be sometime in April. Given that your passport expires in August, then it will be less than 6 months to its expiration when you're interviewing and that wouldn't work. You may need to renew it to avoid any complication. Typically, passports are renewed about 6 months to its expiration. Thank you for this response. Mine is for Srping 2019 so i think I am on track. Thank you |

My international passport would expire by Aug 2019. Would it be any hindrance to my visa considering I would be issued a 2yr visa which would definitely be beyond the intl passport expiry date.
Anyone who has gone through this? Let me know if it is possible to renew my passport before the Interview or go with it like that since it isn't expired yet |

Is it possible I have a sample of your essay sent to me as I am currently applying for a scholarship/tuition waiver that demands an essay and resume. Please help me. Thank you Fikky1: Hello everyone, my visa was approved on 13th August. I should have posted this a while ago but the past weeks have been very demanding with me having to resume school with a short time to prepare. My i20 start date was 20th August. I am settling in well now and I just know I have to post my transcript here because I have also benefited from this forum. I got a denial in July but had another interview in August. I was directed to go to the window of the same VO that interviewed me previously and I was concerned why the same VO was interviewing me. She asked why I chose my course but I answered her with no confidence at all and I began to panic. she typed for a while and then said to me "oh I interviewed you the last time" I said yes and she called for an officer to redirect me to another VO. I took that as a second chance and I continued praying under my breath. I was eventually directed to a male VO. Here is the full transcript
Where are you going? I am going to ETSU for my masters in Public Administration
Why did you choose this course I chose Public Administration because I want to be able to consult for public agencies in the future
Run me through your academic background I have a bachelors in political science and I also have a certification in accounting. I am an affiliate of the association of chartered certified accountants in the United Kingdom
Did you apply to other schools apart from this one Yes. I also applied to Ohio University
What does Ohio University have in common with ETSU I am very particular about the financial emphasis of this MPA degree i want to pursue. The courses that Ohio University offered placed a high emphasis on finance just like ETSU. However, ETSU allows me to have a specific concentration in Public Financial Management
When did you get your bachelors 2016
Tell me about this certification from the UK I had always wanted to be an accountant but I also love governance. In my first year in school I also enrolled as a student of ACCA. Because of my background in political science I had to take all the exams from the beginning. I completed 14 exams alongside my bachelors programs. (I mentioned the titles of some of the exams I took). And I completed both programs at the same time
Who is Olabode (My sponsor) He is my uncle
How did you get your tuition scholarship I submitted an essay on what inspired me to study MPA
Summarize the content of your essay I had always known what i wanted to do from the beginning. when I began my first year in the university I knew I wanted to learn the financial part of governance so I also enrolled as a student accountant. I was able to complete both my degree and certification by the end of four years and this masters degree ties both fields together for me.
He approved my visa after this then asked when I had to be at school. While collecting the white paper I told him 20th and he said 'well you still have some time'. I smiled and told him to have a nice day
I am thankful to everyone that has contributed to this platform one way or the other. I also reached out to a couple of people here and they took their time to prepare me for the interview. Even though I was ill and at the hospital for about three weeks. God healed me just in time to be able to attend the interview. I apologize once again for taking so long before posting this. Thank you all |
