Politics aside every parent in Biden's shoes would do the same thing. The people I am willing to go against my principles for are my children. Biden has seen grief in his life he deserves a full family in retirement in happiness. Americans showed him no appreciation for his work so let him be selfish and do something for himself. As much as I loath that Orange criminal if he did this for his children I wouldn't fault him, every parent will do what Biden did. He even said that he could pardon Hunter. Any parent that wouldn't do this for their child. I will advise the child to do a DNA test. That said people complaining about this should shut up. The people elected a criminal to the White House who regardless of what Biden did would pardon every criminal who committed an insurrection on January 6th. |

cococandy: Democrats should learn that republicans don’t care about the law, norms, family values, the working class, veterans, children, the police or God.
These are talking points they use to rile up their volatile emotionally stunted constituents into rage voting. Creating an atmosphere of hate that’s too distracting for anyone to actually focus on public wellness. While their distractions are working, they’re busy transferring more wealth to the billionaire class and shrinking the middle class each time they are in office.
Republicans are like Nigerian politicians. They don’t believe in continuity and building on what their predecessors started. It’s actually not surprising they have a lot of Nigerian supporters. The parallels are there. @bold, that's why I am not surprised many including Africans in general support him. If Orange man were a Nigerian politician the Obidients4Trump gang would hate him. Same way they hate Kemi Badenoch in the UK who is saying the same thing that they find no fault in when Orange man says it. Nigerians lack self-awareness and that's why their hypocrisy stinks. |

Orange criminal's future cabinet is beginning to look like a cabinet of Merry band DEI criminals
Again, anyone who supports Trump and voted for him is a big nincompoop.
He has appointed two of his in-laws. Nigerians will fault this in Nigeria but support that idiot when he does this in America. |

cococandy: Long overdue.
Republicans don’t play by the rules. The only time they want rules to apply is when it concerns other people. Someone like Trump shouldn’t even be qualified to run for office.
Are we even to talk about all the felons and criminals he pardoned on his way out the last time? Pardoned his in law and is making him an ambassador now.
I fault democrats for thinking that because they follow the law and care about protecting the image of a lawful America that republicans will do the same. Orange criminal has appointed his criminal in-law whom he pardoned as Ambassador to France. So I urge every Democrat complaining about this to shut up. The American people never saw criminality as a deal-breaker and that was why they elected one. Due process and rule of law be damned it only works on Black men. |

The only type of woman they would vote for president would be the typical misogyny foot soldier (if at all). But if those type of women live their lives according to the reality they are trying to vote in, they wouldn’t be running for president. True, maybe the next 4 years would give people a reality check. One thing I am certain of is that people are going to miss Joe Biden and regret their vote. Lessons will be learned. |

You think the incoming administration will fail like the current administration who left the real issues Americans are facing for LGBTQ rubbish? The incoming administration is going to fail because their proposed policies have disastrous impact. On the flip side, I saw videos of him on Fox and we might underestimate him. He is a smooth talker and he kills it. He has the ability to bring his message across in a way that is easy to understand for those who look for simple solutions to complex problems. He is a much more effective communicator than Kamala was and radiates more confidence. I agree but Pete wouldn't be President in this environment. Unfortunately. |

White people are the most dependent on social benefits and welfare but the moment it’s mentioned in politics, they suddenly all hate socialism and handouts.
They dogged out Bernie for being too radical left. Even Some democrats think he’s too far left. And what was his offense? He advocated for benefits that other first world countries already give their citizens without hassles.
America’s problem is complex but at the crux of it is that we’re are way more regressive than the outside world actually knows. Shebi Orange man is planning to cut down food stamps. Na White people go suffer am pass. Lessons will be learned. |

IjeBos: I think this is the most important part. Policies didn't win/lose this election, it was bigotry, culture wars and disinformation peddled to people incapable or unwilling to understand the difference.
The problem is how do Dems message to these people without the constant lying Republicans do? It's a problem. What made Trump successful is his shameless lying. Any party I would vote for wouldn't do that. The Dems aren't built that way. At least you are seeing what I am seeing Buda doesn't want to see it. It's America's loss not mine. I don't like the idea of politicians lying to people. If the people want lies though then good luck to them because nothing will be done to make things better. |

budaatum: I do blame democrats.
Accepting blame makes me responsible and empowers me going forward, while not accepting blame makes one irresponsible and powerless.
The people are indeed responsible for what they voted for. They will at least need to bear whatever befalls them from their choice of dump. Unfortunately, the pain won't fall only on Republican voters. Like I said this was not a policy election and for that reason I cannot and will not blame Democrats for this loss. This one is on the voters. Let them own it. |

budaatum: Because they listened to dump. I mean, come on. He shouts so loud that they can't miss him.
They did not feel heard by democrats. But they likely will feel heard by Democrats after they've tasted dump 2.0. I don't disagree here. That's why I wouldn't blame Democrats. Let the people get what they voted for. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: 2026 Midterm Elections Live! by AmazonTopaz(f): 5:14pm On Nov 29, 2024 |
budaatum: The economy was not the only issue. The economy won the midterm, but by the president election Biden was unfortunately showing old, and what he displayed at the debate with dump scared many people including Democrats, which is why he was replaced. Unfortunately, finances made it such that Kamala was the only option so late in the game, and I'm sorry, but America is not yet ready for a woman president. That glass ceiling has not yet been broken, though it appears to have shattered where pussy grabbers and convicted felons are concerned.
Dump is the fault of Democrats. If Biden had stuck to one term, and if they'd done a primary to elect a successor, America would have likely had a democrat as 47. Biden cannot be mandated by anyone to stick to one term especially when he worked tirelessly to earn a second term and as far as his medical reports were concerned he was in good health. You learned the wrong lessons from this election. If it were about age, Trump wouldn't be President if you watched his campaign speeches he kept talking off point and blabbing like a demented idiot. The economy wasn't so good in 2022 it was recovering. Inflation was at a higher rate in 2022 (Cococandy am I right?) Yet Democrats didn't face a midterm bloodbath and we wrongfully attributed it to Roe being overturned. It was immigration. The Dems lost mostly because of immigration not the economy. Trumpists don't know anything about the economy they cared more about their bigotry to hate people. I wouldn't completely say that they are not ready for a woman President but yes it did play a role in her loss that's why you must understand that this election wasn't lost on policies but bigotry which includes sexism as to why she lost. No need looking for reasons as to why Democrats lost the reason is simple. Americans are idiots. When Republicans lose they don't lecture themselves on why they lost. This nonsense talk only happens with Democrats only Democrats must be perfect. No way, I say Democrats need to sit back and watch while Americans learn. |

budaatum: This bit. The working class disagree and voted dump for president.
And Democrats arrogantly not listening will make them not be 48. The Republican party doesn't listen to them either yet they vote Republican. After everything Biden did for them why didn't they vote for him? Democrats listened to them. Biden's agenda had them in mind. It's high time you all begin to understand that policies don't win elections but bigotry and culture wars do. That's not on the Dems that's on voters. Democrats should just sit back and watch you cannot help a people who don't want to be helped. |

IjeBos: Depends on what he does or what he can branch into, his business may boom. My homegirl is an immigration lawyer and was telling me she suspects she will be busy with all the challenges about to come down. She also warned people to get everything done asap. A friend is adopting a child from Naij, he just rushed to complete the paperwork for his son's US citizenship. There is going to be a lot of unknown consequences. This one doesn't depend on anything. Na travel agent nor be immigration lawyer. Immigration lawyers are going to cash out but if I am to advice anyone don't look up to the courts for help save up money and bounce out instead. Orange man has them in his pockets. Conservatives will just be filling cases at the 5th Circuit and destroying the process before it gets to SCOTUS. The 5th circuit is worse than SCOTUS. I agree with the "unknown consequences" part. |

We have made peace with Trump’s presidency, I know I have at least but you see that deportation? We must deport ALL, illegal immigrants and no need calling Mexican President after all the boasting during the campaign, they must chop 25% tariff on all goods as promised.

budaatum: Its not much different to Nigerians' stupidity, who cried all through APC Buhari's 8 years and then elected APC Tinubu. But to be honest, the alternative was weak, in both cases.
Biden should have stepped down 2 years ago if Kamala was to stand a chance. And that would still have depended on how she sold the booming economy, which she failed to do. This is not on Biden or Harris. This is on the American people. Biden had every right to run for re-election, he was a President for the working class yet they voted for a criminal who tried to overturn the last election that he lost. This is not on Biden abeg. The economy was in much better position than during the Midterms yet Dems did well during the Midterms. The people wanted the Orange Criminal and they will deserve what's coming. |

Roland17: Nneoma, happy thanksgiving to you and your family.
Let’s not forget what our farmers suffered when Europe and China retaliated. We had a significant back log in soybeans and other agricultural produce because no one would buy from us. Trump ended up spending billions in “more subsidies” as incentives to our farmers who were suffering losses as a result of the backlog. Does anyone wonder where those billions used to incentivize farmers came from? How about he truce deal that stopped the tariff war? It hurt Americans more than Europe and China we were fighting. You know why this is funny. The foolish farmers and most of the White working class voted for him after that both in 2020 and 2024. I have seen stupidity but American stupidity is a discovery. |

Historians warned of Trump, that his pattern is similar to the Nazis. Some of his supporters are Nazis they stormed the capitol on January 6th. There is a reason why Jewish Americans hate him too and despite the Pro-Palestine crusade by leftists they still voted Democratic. The people who worked for Trump the first time warned Americans not to vote for him because they know who he is and how they restrained him. With Project 2025 there will be no restraints. weak men are the most dangerous when handed power. a transactional drifter who has spent his whole life bullying and cheating others. what do you expect?
are you a nigerian or not?
has the military not regularly killed civilians without consequences? do you not realize the trump learnt all the wrong lessons from his first term. did you not read how he wanted to send the military after protesters but they refused? did you not read about how protester were being renditioned? now trump wants boards that will vet military officers for loyalty to him. so they will follow whatever order HE gives. if you know you will kill protesters and get a pardon - what happens next? you think i can kill you and nothing will happen starts in one day?
if you are following the news musk is promising to gut different federal government regulatory agencies. well guess what - the same thing happened in nigeria in the 80s with muritala mohammad. some say that was the real beginning of the end of a competent civil service.
do you understand the importance of regulation and regulatory bodies? do you know about thalidomide babies? in the 70s the FDA stopped the sale of thalidomide in the US. protecting a generation of kids from birth defects . these are the institutions that team trump wants to tear down in the name of 'efficiency'

cococandy: It literally breaks my heart.
The reason being that this isn’t politics as usual. Maybe in the short term, nothing too terrible might happen that we can’t persevere through. Maybe we might have to tighten our pockets more to withstand the price hikes that are coming because of his tariffs (so much for improving the economy 🙄).
Maybe we’ll ignore a few more emboldened racists and misogynistic assholes. Maybe we’ll pray harder that a trigger happy police officer doesn’t hurt our loved ones and get away with it due to qualified immunity he promised them.
Those are “little” things. But the long term effects of the institutions he’s plotting to destabilize will be felt by our children. And the judgments of the extreme right wing judges he’s going to appoint will be felt by our children’s children. Coming back from this man will be a nightmare walk back from the grave.
We just handed Putin our country. Exactly as he prophesied it was going to happen. Yes, the Soviets did say that they will destroy the United States without firing a shot. Who the gods want to kill they first make mad. That is America. The fact that the rest of the world sees it and Americans think it's going to be business as usual shows how foolish the average American is. |

ObaIgwe1, cococandy, budaatum, Ijebos and happney65 There is a Nigerian on Twitter I think his name is Taiwo (I can't remember his last name) he is in the USA. He became a citizen last year and I believe his job relates to travel agency/immigration information people etc. Do you know that this man voted for Trump? It is my prayer that his business suffers as much loss as possible because Trump is going to kill tourism and immigration anyway. I blocked him on Twitter but I hope that in 6 months I get to see his account unblock him and read the complaints then block back. I don't get how someone would vote for a candidate whose policies will kill your business particularly given that many of your clients are likely Nigerians who will be affected by any travel ban/restrictions. Some Nigerians abroad who vote conservatives are big time fools sha. I am not just talking about the USA. But Nigerians who voted Reform in the UK, who think that they are British citizens and will be unaffected by the Far-right's anti-immigration rhetorics, the idiots in Canada who support Conservatives etc. Those ones in Canada benefitted from Liberal policies but now are calling to oust them because they hate LGBTQ and abortion. Omo an oxymoron is an African Conservative living in the West. Hopefully, everyone will learn from the free lessons that Orange Hitler will provide. I hope he fulfills every of his campaign promises.
