@OP are u serious? Call rates very high? I remember when calls used to be N50/min, when call centres use card booster or whatever twisted name the network providers called it.
I also rem making calls from call centres @ N20/min.
Well all that has changed now, with me calling from my fone @ N11/min to all networks and u say that's expensive?
Its prob going to come down more but if u ask me,
With almost all networks charging about N12/min to all networks,
Their call rates are very fair.

Its. A data revolution we're waiting for

Joe50: all these white people like milking we africans
This is lame on several levels.
These are global prices so, don't claim the sole victim here.

Iphone5 is produced @ a cost of about 25k, yet wen it launched, it sold in the UK n US for an equivalent of about 190k, how much did ur naija brothers sell it for?
Some 250k, 220, some 280.

Check out the profit apples making on that,
Oh well, dem no force u to buy,
Almost every fone vendor sells @ @least 200% of production cost.

The Z10 is currently selling in Canada for an equivalent of about 103k,
And ur getting it in naija for less than that, yet ur complaining,

Wait until dem use am for jand, den buy from them so u'l get 'value' for ur money.
Phones › Re: MTN To Deliver BlackBerry Z10 To Subscribers by amblors(m): 7:05am On Feb 14, 2013
ITbomb: .
and this is the summary: - BIS works on BB10 for BBM, but not for web browsing and other apps
- You can run other things via a generic data plan
- You can also use BBM on a generic data plan without BIS.
.
I have a question: if indeed I can run BBM chats over a generic data plan, why would I subscribe to BIS in addition to such a plan? Why would I subscribe to two data services at the same time and spend even more? For security of my chats? I doubt that most people would bother.
The way I understand this whole BiS confusion is this -
Blackberry has given carriers a choice as av seen some comments where people said their canadian carriers put them on a BIS plan, there's no mention of BIS by UK carriers tho.
BIS is mainly for better push email, encryption and compression of data as its passed tru blackberry servers.
The only services on the new BB10 that would run on the BB servers are BBM and BES subscribers.
On the BB10, a regular Dataplan would give u access to everything,

My Guess is Airtel and Glo BIS would still be supported on the BB10 unofficially as its used on android devices coz. Of the bundled data.

But out Unlimted data providers prob won't follow that route, as Etisalat powers it with Easyblaze, their regular data which gives u a max of 6GB for 8k.
Only MTN seems to give the new devices a special treatment as they've created a new tarriff datz not as exciting as the conventional BIS, depending on your budget, it maybe more exciting than the regular data giving u amax of 1GB for 3k, which may not sound so good when u rem mtn regualr data gives u 7.5GB for 8k. Ohwell, choice is urs.

martinkem: Have u used the L3 and the Note before you came to that conclusion, I have used a Galaxy S,Pocket and own a Galaxy S2, and the performance isn't thar different for the apps that come bundled with it, unless you try to run a HD game like Dead Trigger you wont have complaints about the Pocket,

Still trying to make excuses for Blackberry, anyone with basic knowledge of economics would understand why there would be no upgrades for OS7 users and about the Playbook do u know that it runs the same software as Blackberry 10 (based on QNX, all blackberry has to do is put the apps in an update container and Viola it's the same thing across board).
The difference between a low end and high end android device is not littlem very few people depend on the apps than come with the device.
I get ur point tho, I take it back, the bold 5 should be good enuf to run BB10, thats me guessing tho.
BB 7 is Java based
BB10 is linux based

Even bb os 6 devices didn't get upgraded to OS7.
Let alone a diff OS, we should understand.

S2 can run Jelly Bean, has it Gotten it yet? Officially?
Phones › Re: RIM (Blackberry) Should Provide OS Upgrade. by amblors(m): 11:02am On Feb 06, 2013
@OP. If u followed the blogs, its bin no secret the devices running OS 7.1 would not be Upgraded to BB10.
Phones › Re: RIM (Blackberry) Should Provide OS Upgrade. by amblors(m): 10:58am On Feb 06, 2013
My friend its mostly about hardware specs. The fluidity of Android on a Note is different from your android experience on say an LG L3.
One exciting thing about the Q10 is its smoothness of the OS which is only possible coz of the great hardware on it.
Put that OS on the bold 5, and people would begin to complain of slow bootup times, more lagging, more frustrating user experience
Its prob gonna work but then u may have to tweak the OS too.
Anyways, I'm waiting for the Q10

Btw : clarification about the BIS issue on Crackberry - http://crackberry.com/no-you-dont-need-bis-plan-blackberry-10-phones

He says , a regular data lan would work just fine, and BIS would work too. But unlimited plans like those currently offered by etisalat and mtn may be a thing of the past
Phones › Re: BB 10 will ground Blackberry by amblors(m): 5:28pm On Feb 01, 2013
Lol, the device is currently on sale in the UK, I just checked carphonewarehouse website and they have data plans ranging from 1GB to Unlimited data.
So if BIS is gone and there are vendors offering unlimited data, I'll jump on it. That's IF BIS is gone.
Phones › Re: BB 10 will ground Blackberry by amblors(m): 5:17pm On Feb 01, 2013
chineduace: BB10 will not be running BIS. That is no more monthly supscription of BIS.... Do you understand. All your data consumption would be like every other phone.
Av heard the rumour, what's ur source, drop a link.
