PoliticsMiddle Belt Forum Hails Tinubu’s Jos Visit, Calls For United Civil-military Effo by AmeboFeeds(op): 3:48pm On Apr 03
The Middle Belt Peace Forum (MBPF) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his profound demonstration of empathy and responsive leadership following his decision to postpone an official engagement in Iperu in order to visit victims of the recent attacks in Jos.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Pastor Bulus Garba, in Jos on Friday, the Forum said the President’s decision to personally identify with grieving communities sends a powerful message of solidarity and reinforces public confidence in the commitment of the Federal Government to the protection of lives and property.

“The Middle Belt Peace Forum warmly commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising compassion over ceremony. At a time of deep sorrow for the people of Plateau State, his decision to visit Jos stands as a mark of true leadership—one that listens, responds, and stands with the people in their moment of pain,” the statement read.

The Forum described the perpetrators of the recent attacks as “cowards who prey on innocent and defenceless citizens,” stressing that such acts of violence are not only inhumane but also a direct assault on the unity and peace of the nation.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the actions of these cowardly attackers whose only aim is to instil fear and destabilise peaceful communities. Their actions must be met with firm and decisive resistance from all arms of the state,” Pastor Garba said.

The MBPF further used the opportunity to salute the courage, gallantry, and sacrifices of the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, noting that their continued efforts remain central to restoring stability across troubled parts of the country.

According to the Forum, the Armed Forces have demonstrated resilience and professionalism in the face of complex security challenges, often operating under difficult conditions to safeguard communities and defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

“We salute the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their unwavering commitment and sacrifices. Their gallantry in confronting criminal elements and reclaiming territories is a testament to their dedication to national service. We recognise that the path to peace is demanding, and we honour those who stand daily in defence of our nation,” the statement added.

The Forum pledged its full support to ongoing military operations and called for strengthened collaboration between security agencies and local communities as a critical factor in achieving lasting peace.

It also urged citizens across the Middle Belt to cooperate with security forces by providing timely information and fostering unity within their communities.

The MBPF, however, expressed concern over the need for greater synergy among security agencies, particularly the role of the Nigeria Police in consolidating gains made by the military.

“We call on the Nigeria Police Force to rise fully to its constitutional responsibility by effectively supporting the Armed Forces in stabilising and securing areas that have been cleared of criminal elements. Holding and policing such territories is essential to preventing a resurgence of violence,” Pastor Garba stated.

The Forum emphasised that sustainable peace requires a coordinated approach in which the military clears and secures areas, while the police maintain law and order to enable displaced communities to return and rebuild their lives.

The MBPF concluded by reiterating its commitment to peacebuilding efforts across the Middle Belt and expressed optimism that with sustained leadership, coordinated security efforts, and active citizen participation, lasting peace can be achieved.

“Together, through unity, vigilance, and collective resolve, we can overcome these challenges and build a safer and more peaceful Middle Belt,” the statement added.

2027: Why Engr. Taiwo Oludotun is the Blueprint for Progress in Abeokuta North, Odeda, and Obafemi-Owode

By Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo

As the 2027 general elections approach, the political discourse in the **Abeokuta North/Odeda/Obafemi-Owode Federal Constituency** is reaching a fever pitch.

Residents are no longer looking for mere promises; they are looking for a "Blueprint for Progress." In the quest for a representative who embodies technical competence, administrative grit, and a deep-rooted connection to the grassroots, one name stands tall: Engr. Taiwo Oludotun.

Currently serving as the Ogun State Commissioner for Forestry, Engr. Oludotun (widely known as "Twinny"wink has demonstrated that leadership is not about the title, but about the measurable impact on the lives of the people.

A Proven Track Record of Administrative Excellence
Engr. Oludotun’s tenure in the State Executive Council under Governor Dapo Abiodun has been defined by innovation and accountability. He didn't just occupy an office; he revolutionized it.

Revenue Growth: Under his leadership, the Ministry of Forestry achieved an unprecedented **85% revenue performance**, significantly boosting the state’s economy.

Digitization: He spearheaded the digitization of revenue collection, eliminating leakages and ensuring that public funds are utilized for public good.

Job Creation: By facilitating partnerships with private investors—such as the reactivation of reserves—he has directly contributed to job creation for youths in host communities.

The "Engineer" of Infrastructure and Development
Politics at the federal level requires a representative who understands the technicalities of development. As a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Oludotun brings an analytical mind to the table. His background in Electrical Power Engineering means he is uniquely positioned to advocate for the expansion of rural electrification and the rehabilitation of critical road networks that link the agrarian hubs of Odeda and Obafemi-Owode to the urban centers of Abeokuta North.

Grassroots Connection: A Son of the Soil
Born in the Owu Kingdom and educated at Ogun State Polytechnic (now MAPOLY), Engr. Oludotun is a "homegrown" leader. He understands the unique challenges of his constituency because he has lived them.

Abeokuta North: He understands the urban renewal needs and the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of the state capital.

Odeda & Obafemi-Owode: He recognizes that these areas are the "food basket" of the state and requires a representative who will fight for agricultural subsidies, better feeder roads, and modern irrigation for farmers.

The 2027 Vision: Effective Representation
The House of Representatives is the engine room of national legislation. For Abeokuta North, Odeda, and Obafemi-Owode to get their fair share of the "national cake," they need a representative who is not a "benchwarmer."

Engr. Oludotun has the political capital, the professional pedigree, and the **loyalty to the people** to ensure that this constituency moves from the periphery of national attention to the center stage.

"Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality."* Engr. Taiwo Oludotun has spent the last several years translating Governor Abiodun’s "Building Our Future Together" agenda into reality within his ministry. In 2027, the people of Abeokuta North, Odeda, and Obafemi-Owode have a golden opportunity to send that same energy, competence, and result-oriented leadership to the National Assembly.

For a Federal Constituency that works for everyone, the choice is clear. The choice is Engr. Taiwo Oludotun.**

Why Abeokuta South, North, Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, Ifo and Ewekoro Should Support Emmanuel Adebola Sofela for Senate

By Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo

As the political landscape of Ogun State evolves, the race for the **Ogun Central Senatorial District** seat has drawn significant attention. One name that stands out as a formidable contender is Hon. Adebola Emmanuel Sofela.

With a district encompassing the bustling urban centers and key agricultural hubs of **Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, Ifo, and Ewekoro**, the region requires a representative who balances corporate financial discipline with a deep understanding of grassroots governance.

Who is Adebola Emmanuel Sofela?

Adebola Sofela is a seasoned professional with a pedigree in both the private and public sectors. His background is a blend of high-level financial management and strategic public service, making him uniquely qualified to navigate the complexities of national legislation and local development.

Professional Background: A distinguished Chartered Accountant and banker, Sofela rose through the ranks of the Nigerian financial sector. He served as a Divisional Director and General Manager at Equatorial Trust Bank and later held the prestigious role of Group Treasurer at Globacom Limited.

Public Service: He currently serves as the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Ogun State under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun. In this role, he has been at the forefront of driving economic growth and industrialization within the state.

Education: An alumnus of the University of Ilorin (B.Sc. Accounting) and the University of Lagos (MBA), his academic foundation is rooted in economic management.

Why Support Sofela for Ogun Central?

Choosing a Senator is not just about political affiliation; it is about selecting a "voice" that can effectively lobby for resources and craft laws that improve the lives of the people. Here is why Hon. Adebola Sofela is being viewed as a top choice for Ogun Central:

1. Proven Economic Expertise

Ogun Central is the industrial and administrative heart of the state. As the current Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Sofela already understands the economic levers of the region. His ability to attract investment and manage large-scale financial portfolios in the private sector translates directly to a Senator who can advocate for better federal fiscal policies and infrastructure grants.

2. A Bridge Between the Corporate and Public Worlds
Many politicians lack the "bottom-line" mindset of the private sector. Sofela brings the discipline of a Chartered Accountant to the Senate. This ensures that constituency projects are not just "white elephants" but are executed with transparency, efficiency, and a focus on long-term sustainability.

3. Deep Local Knowledge

Ogun Central is diverse—from the industrial zones of **Ewekoro and Ifo** to the agrarian belts of **Odeda and Obafemi-Owode**, and the historical administrative core of **Abeokuta**. Sofela’s work in the state cabinet has given him a "front-row seat" to the specific needs of these six Local Governments, allowing him to hit the ground running on day one.

4. Integrity and Professionalism

In an era where voters are wary of "career politicians," Sofela represents the professional class entering politics to offer service. His membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the **Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIBN) speaks to a career built on ethical standards and professional accountability.

5. Alignment with State Development

Having served in the state executive council, Sofela offers the advantage of **synergy**. A Senator who works in harmony with the state government can more effectively ensure that federal projects (like roads, power, and water) align with the state’s master plan for Ogun Central.

Conclusion

The Senate seat for Ogun Central requires more than just popularity; it requires competence, character, and a clear vision. Hon. Adebola Emmanuel Sofela offers a rare combination of corporate excellence and public sector experience. For the people of Abeokuta, Odeda, Ifo, and beyond, his candidacy represents an opportunity to send a seasoned professional to the Red Chamber who truly understands how to turn policy into prosperity.

APC Group Endorses Fubara for 2027, Calls on Tinubu and APC to Prioritise Performance Over Politics in Backing Governor’s Second Term Ambition

The APC National Vanguard has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support a second term in office for Siminalayi Fubara, citing what it described as “impressive and verifiable developmental strides” across Rivers State.

In a statement issued on Thursday by its National President, Dr Gbenga Salam (JP), the group said its position followed an extensive assessment tour of key infrastructure and public service projects executed under the Fubara administration.

The APC National Vanguard said the appeal was based strictly on performance, arguing that governance outcomes should outweigh partisan considerations, particularly in a state as economically significant as Rivers.

“We respectfully urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to support the continuity of Governor Siminalayi Fubara beyond his current tenure, in recognition of his commitment to development, prudent resource management, and people-focused governance,” the statement read.

According to the group, its delegation visited multiple project sites across the state, observing ongoing and completed works spanning road construction, urban renewal, and public infrastructure upgrades.

It noted that the scale and distribution of these projects reflect a deliberate effort by the state government to extend development beyond traditional urban centres and into underserved communities.

“Our findings from the tour reveal a government that is not only active but intentional in its development agenda. The execution of capital projects across various parts of Rivers State demonstrates a clear understanding of the needs of the people and a commitment to addressing them,” Dr Salam said.

The group particularly commended what it described as prudent financial management by the administration, noting that the projects reviewed showed evidence of careful planning and efficient allocation of resources.

“At a time when economic pressures are evident across the country, it is commendable that the Rivers State government has managed its resources in a way that delivers visible and impactful development without signs of fiscal recklessness,” the statement added.

The APC National Vanguard further observed that despite political tensions in the state, the Fubara administration has maintained focus on governance, ensuring continuity in project execution and service delivery.

The group argued that such stability is critical for sustained development and should be encouraged rather than disrupted.

“Leadership must ultimately be judged by results. In Rivers State, there is clear evidence of progress—projects that are not only announced but executed, and policies that translate into real benefits for citizens,” Dr Salam noted.

The group warned that discontinuity in leadership could stall ongoing projects and reverse gains already recorded, stressing the importance of allowing a performing administration to consolidate its achievements.

“Rivers State is at a pivotal stage where continuity will allow for the completion of ongoing initiatives and the deepening of development gains. Supporting Governor Fubara for a second term is, therefore, a decision in the best interest of the people,” the statement said.

In addition to its call on the APC leadership, the group reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu, expressing confidence in his administration’s broader economic and governance reforms.

The APC group urged Nigerians to remain supportive of efforts aimed at stabilising the economy and strengthening public institutions.

“We reiterate our endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, in recognition of his leadership and commitment to national development. With sustained support, the administration can consolidate its reform agenda for the benefit of all Nigerians,” Dr Salam added.

The APC National Vanguard concluded by calling on political actors to prioritise development and public interest over partisan divides, insisting that governance should always be guided by performance and accountability.

“Where leadership demonstrates prudence, delivers development, and remains focused on the welfare of the people, it deserves continuity. This is the position we have reached after a careful and independent assessment of Rivers State,” the statement added.

PropertiesThe Legacy Of Seriki Oke Abata: A Chronicle Of Heritage And Leadership by AmeboFeeds(op): 4:52pm On Mar 30
ABEOKUTA – In the heart of the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area lies Seriki Oke Abata Village, a settlement whose history is intricately woven into the broader tapestry of Egba land and colonial Nigeria. Founded by the visionary Late Adebokun, the village has evolved from a burgeoning settlement along Aiyerose Road into a symbol of familial strength and historical significance.

The Foundation and Geography

The origins of Seriki Oke Abata are rooted in the ancestral home at No. 71 Idowu Baase Compound in Ijemo Ita Oba Oyinbo, Abeokuta. Under the leadership of Adebokun, the village was established in a strategic location, sharing boundaries with Abule Aromimawe, Oya, and Olopa villages. Its proximity to the Aiyerose village market further cemented its status as a vital hub within the Obafemi-Owode axis.

Iya Sangowede also known as mama alapasun was the only family which maintain stability in the Seriki Oke Abata Village, she ensured peace and tranquility within the village among the foreigners and the indegenes.

A Lineage of Influence: The Adebokun Descendants
The growth of the village is inseparable from the expansion of the Adebokun family tree. Adebokun fathered four children—Idowu, Sowunmi, Adenekan, and his daughter, Fafunke—who became the pillars of the burgeoning community.

The Idowu Lineage: Produced notable figures including Sangowede, Kuye, Matanmi, Tiyamiyu, and Wuraola. Their children are Lateef Idowu, Segun Matanmi-Idowu, Akanke got married to outsider. Then grandchildren are Tobiloba Idowu, Oluwaseun Idowu and others.
* The Sowunmi Lineage: Begot Soyoye forward by Olu Amos and Aduke, to their children, Adegboyega Adebayo Amos, Funmilayo Amos, Tawakalitu Amos, Olamilekan Amos
* The Adenekan Lineage: Represented by Lasisi Iba, Kekingbo, and Amudatu.
* The Fafunke Lineage: Connecting the family to Itoko through her marriage to Baba Fajebe, producing the Fajebe and Aliu lines.

The Colonial Connection and the British Flag
Perhaps the most captivating chapter of the village history involves the diplomatic relationship between Idowu (son of Adebokun) and the British colonial administrator, Lord Frederick Lugard.

Oral tradition dictates that their friendship was so profound that Idowu entrusted his daughter, Wura, to Lugard to be educated and raised abroad. This bond served as a literal shield for the community during times of conflict; it is recorded that Lugard ordered the British flag to be flown over the areas where Idowu and his people resided, signaling to the British army that the territory was protected and was to remain untouched by war.

Ecclesiastical and Traditional Leadership

Following the cessation of hostilities, the family's influence transitioned into formal traditional governance. Idowu, who already held the title of Baase of Ijemo, was called upon to fill the void left by the passing of the former Oluwo of Ijemo. His installation ensured that the spiritual and administrative leadership of the Ijemo people remained robust and continuous.

During the lifetime of Kehinde-Idowu Hassan known as Baba Kenke was the secretary of Ijemo Traditional Council in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

The Modern Generation: Keeping the Flame Alive
Today, the descendants of the original four pillars continue to thrive across various sectors. From the grandchildren of Kuye (including the lines of Ebenezer/Aliu and Lateef) to the prolific families of Matanmi, Tiyamiyu, and Olu Amos, the legacy of Seriki Oke Abata remains a living history.

The village stands not just as a geographical location, but as a testament to how family bonds and historical alliances shaped the landscape of modern Ogun State.

Empowering Abeokuta: Gbagede Ewaede Foundation Launches ₦1 Billion Initiative for Women and Youth

....aims at promoting and protecting the originality of Adire Fabrics and investing on women to production across Ogun

By Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE – In a monumental effort to foster economic self-reliance and preserve cultural heritage, the Gbagede Ewaede Foundation has unveiled a landmark empowerment program designed to transform the lives of 1,000 women and youths across Ogun Central Senatorial District namely Abeokuta South, North, Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas.

The initiative, aptly themed “Her Money is her strength, she’s responsible,” represents a massive ₦1 Billion investment into the local economy. Under the visionary leadership of Omoba Adejoke, the foundation has partnered with Sure Banker to provide a life-changing opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs in the Adire art and craft sector.

Each beneficiaries were given a sum of N5,000 Naira after making their registration for the empowerment.

A Catalyst for Economic Independence

The program is strategically designed to bridge the financial gap for individuals under the age of 40. By providing a ₦1,000,000 interest-free startup loan to each of the 1,000 beneficiaries, the foundation aims to empower a new generation of business owners who will not only sustain their families but also revitalize the iconic Adire industry—a cornerstone of Abeokuta’s cultural identity.

“The core philosophy of this initiative is to move beyond mere assistance and move toward true economic autonomy,” said a representative of the Gbagede Ewaede Foundation. “When we say, ‘Her money is her strength, she’s responsible,’ we are acknowledging the power of financial independence to stabilize homes and build a stronger, more resilient society.”

The initiative is also put up together to protect and promote the originality of Adire Fabrics by empowering more people to invest into the production across Ogun state.

Investing in Heritage and Growth

The focus on Adire is no coincidence. By anchoring the empowerment program in the local craft sector, the foundation is ensuring that the funds serve a dual purpose: providing individual livelihoods and scaling the production and marketing of Abeokuta’s world-renowned textile heritage.

The collaboration with Sure Banker underscores the foundation's commitment to structured and sustainable financial practices. The interest-free nature of the loan is specifically designed to remove the burden of debt, allowing young entrepreneurs to focus entirely on growth, production, and market expansion.

The Path Forward

The foundation is currently in the information-gathering phase, as officials work to capture the details of all prospective beneficiaries within the target demographics of Abeokuta South and to extend to other 5 local government in Ogun central namely Abeokuta North, Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, Ifo and Ewekoro respectively.

Following this registration process, the highly anticipated disbursement of funds is scheduled to take place in the next quarter of the year. This timeline ensures that beneficiaries have adequate time to undergo necessary orientation and preparation to maximize the impact of their startup capital.

As Abeokuta prepares for this influx of investment, the Gbagede Ewaede Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to reduce unemployment and cultivate a culture of self-sufficiency. For the 1,000 beneficiaries, this program is more than just a loan; it is the seed of a future defined by independence, responsibility, and professional success.

PoliticsWhy Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (AMBA) Is The Best Choice For Governor Of Kwara In by AmeboFeeds(op): 10:17pm On Mar 28
Why Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (AMBA) Is the Best Choice for Governor of Kwara in 2027

As Kwara State prepares for the 2027 gubernatorial election, the electorate is confronted with a decisive question: which candidate possesses the vision, experience, and integrity required to translate aspiration into measurable development. Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, widely known as AMBA, represents that candidate.

*A Business Leader with Practical Economic Acumen*

Prior to his active political career, AMBA founded and serves as Managing Director of Kursi Investments Limited. His experience building and managing a successful enterprise has provided him with direct expertise in job creation, capital mobilization, and private-sector growth. These competencies are essential for Kwara’s next phase of development—attracting domestic and foreign investment, strengthening small and medium enterprises, and expanding employment opportunities for the state’s youth. AMBA brings an operator’s mindset, grounded in fiscal discipline, efficiency, and results-oriented management.

*Proven Political Experience and Commitment to Party Unity*

AMBA’s political record reflects both dedication to the All Progressives Congress and a willingness to place the collective interest above personal ambition. In the 2019 APC governorship contest, he was a leading aspirant who voluntarily stepped down to support Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. That decision was instrumental in consolidating the “O To Ge” movement, which ended decades of entrenched political control in Kwara. Serving as Director-General of the campaign, he coordinated grassroots mobilization across the state’s three senatorial districts, built broad-based coalitions, and helped deliver a decisive victory. This experience positions him to govern with authority while preserving party cohesion and public confidence.

*A Philanthropist with a Documented Record of Community Impact*

Through the Yahaya Seriki Foundation, AMBA has translated values into concrete action. The foundation’s programs are structured around four pillars:

- *Education for All* – scholarships, learning materials, and support for schools to improve literacy and access, particularly in underserved communities

- *Youth Empowerment* – vocational training, mentorship, and entrepreneurship support to equip young Kwarans with market-relevant skills

- *Community Development* – interventions in water supply, rural infrastructure, and community welfare projects

- *Healthy Kwara* – free medical outreach and healthcare services for populations with limited access to care

This sustained engagement demonstrates a leader who understands the daily challenges ordinary Kwarans face and has been addressing them well before an election cycle.

*A Comprehensive Governance Agenda*

AMBA’s 2027 platform is anchored on inclusive development under the slogan “AMBA FOR ALL, ALL FOR AMBA.” His policy priorities include:

- *Agriculture and Agro-Processing* – modernizing farming practices, supporting value-chain development, and boosting rural incomes

- *Infrastructure* – upgrading roads, water supply, and power to enable commerce and improve quality of life

- *Healthcare* – expanding access to primary healthcare facilities and preventive care across urban and rural areas

- *Education and Skills* – investing in schools, technical training, and digital literacy to prepare the workforce for a changing economy

- *Transparency and Accountability* – instituting prudent public financial management and citizen engagement in decision-making

*Why He Is the Best Choice for Governor of Kwara in 2027*

AMBA stands out as the optimal candidate for 2027 because he embodies three qualities Kwara urgently needs:

1. *Proven Capacity to Deliver* – His business leadership demonstrates an ability to manage resources efficiently and produce tangible results.

2. *Political Experience and Unifying Leadership* – His role in the “O To Ge” movement illustrates his capacity to unite diverse stakeholders, build consensus, and govern inclusively across Kwara’s senatorial districts.

3. *Commitment to People-Centered Development* – Through the Yahaya Seriki Foundation, he has already invested in education, youth empowerment, healthcare, and community development, showing a consistent record of service that predates his candidacy.

In a period when Kwara requires economic growth, inclusive governance, and leaders who have already demonstrated service, Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki offers the combination of competence, credibility, and compassion. For voters seeking a governor who can grow the economy, strengthen institutions, and serve all citizens, AMBA is the best choice for Kwara in 2027.

PoliticsNiger East And The Quest For Senator Musa's Continuity by AmeboFeeds(op): 10:01pm On Mar 28
NIGER EAST AND THE QUEST FOR SENATOR MUSA'S CONTINUITY

By Suleiman Adamu

The people of Niger East Senatorial District have proverbially tasted the honey and its sweetness, and are most unwilling to let go of it. For so many who are used to sloganeering and emotive politics, the clamour for the continuity of Senator Sani Musa remains a surprise, but for those moved by tangible people-oriented programmes, it is not.

Indeed, it is no longer news that there is a serious quest for his return to the National Assembly. What is indeed news is the momentum and compelling clamour by the resilient constituents, who are unwilling to go back to the harrowing days of political false promises and sweet-talking.

Equally, the push for his continuity is associated with the several laudable projects and enduring people-focused programmes carried out by the radical leader and objective grassroots mobiliser. While over eighty-five percent of the constituents, cutting across all walks of life, have avowed their loyalty to him and are determined to ensure his return to continue his good works for humanity, even his traducers are agreed on the fact that his very rich and enduring legacies of developmental physical and social infrastructure, including several intentional advocacy initiatives, remain unbeatable, far-reaching, and valuable assets never before witnessed in the annals of the history of Niger East, and a sound testimony of the reasons he has to continue.

A purpose-driven advocate of social justice and governance inclusivity, Senator Sani remains an indomitable fulcrum and purpose initiator of people-based projects.

His sound and calculative strategic advocacy remains ageless, as it targets core areas of human existence, notably education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, and various stimulus programmes that remain exclusive, undeniable and capable of being tested empirically, with a periodic and intentionally targeted farmers' support, coupled with a boost for small-scale businesses.

Senator Musa's signature works all resonate with a man who has decided to uplift the living standard and general well-being of his people and the larger public. A highly focused and detribalised Nigerian, Senator Sani has indeed carved a niche for himself, demonstrating same in driving monumental and far-reaching developments all around his constituency, deliberately influencing policies, decisions, and programmes that underpin and holistically target his people, attracting immense benefits to the entire region.

Leadership to Senator Sani includes a clear understanding of the imperatives of strategic interest and partnership, and being able to harness same for national and subnational growth and development. Hence, he has invested time and other valuable resources in pragmatic and sustainable interpersonal and political relationships, engagements, and synergy using his clout and congruence.

These are attested to by the numerous developments witnessed within local communities and at the constituency level, and stimulating impact even on the contiguous communities. A reliable and trusted parliamentarian, Senator Musa remains among the first eleven in the Senate who know their onions and stand very tall amongst their constituents.

Through constant and responsive town hall meetings and interactive sessions, he is in touch with his people, from where he receives feedback and adjustment strategies. His political sagacity, coupled with a life of God-directed spirituality, has become his consistent stepping stone to progress and growth in life.

Through this lifestyle entrenched in intrinsic humility, he has been able to foster unity and cooperation amongst stakeholders, leading to a robust relationship which has consistently led to improvement in the life of his constituency and positive impact on the security of lives and properties. Senator Sani has variously championed the collective cause of the people of Niger East Senatorial District, utilising the wealth of his vast experience and resting on his larger-than-life influence, earning him an unrivalled reputation as a dedicated pragmatic transformational leader and establishing him as a competent leader with the capacity to get things done at the right time and in the right way.

A highly committed personality with a life devoted to the progress of humanity, Senator Musa's life is positively rooted in ensuring that lives are improved, humanity is happy, and hope is constantly renewed, especially in the Niger East District. Accordingly, he has enhanced infrastructural development through the construction of several hundred kilometres of roads and bridges, brought about peaceful coexistence and interrelationship through the construction of community centres, enhanced access to health facilities through the provision and equipping of health centres and medical equipment, and the creation of health and security awareness.

Senator Sani has enhanced education through the establishment and construction of new primary and secondary schools, equipped with state-of-the-art educational materials and ICT equipment, and the training of youths in digital skills. A master driver of economic empowerment, Senator Sani is known for his consistent life of sacrifice and economic empowerment. Through this initiative, he has supported small-scale businesses, distributed food and non-food materials, and supported farmers with a focus on food security and availability, while enhancing the development and growth of sustainable entrepreneurship through loans, provision of scholarships, and targeted training of youths to meet the sustainable development goal programmes.

Indeed, his strategic peace initiatives have led to the relative peace and peaceful coexistence experienced in the Niger East Senatorial District, as he prioritises the promotion of peace, unity, and social solidarity and cohesion. Senator Musa Sani remains a strong and formidable force of social sustainability, ensuring the boosting and improvement of electricity supply in his constituency.

Senator Musa Sani's many works of empathy and his devotion to his people make him a continuous choice of the people of Niger East Senatorial District and the reason for their clamour for his continuity.

PoliticsWhy Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin Stands Out As The Most Prepared Choice For Oyo State’s by AmeboFeeds(op): 9:00pm On Mar 28
Why Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin Stands Out as the Most Prepared Choice for Oyo State’s Next Governor

As conversations around the future leadership of Oyo State continue to gather momentum, one fundamental question remains central: who among the emerging names possesses the competence, administrative depth, political understanding, and development vision required to move the state decisively forward? In that growing debate, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin has increasingly emerged as a figure whose profile speaks directly to the demands of modern governance. At a time when voters are looking beyond slogans and seeking measurable capacity, his record offers unusual substance.

Dr. Gbadegesin’s public service journey reflects a rare blend of intellectual accomplishment and practical governance. With a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from Howard University and a doctorate in Neuroscience from Georgetown University, he belongs to a generation of Nigerian public administrators whose academic foundation has translated into policy innovation. Rather than approaching governance through routine political instincts alone, he has consistently applied scientific reasoning, data systems, and strategic planning to public administration. That intellectual discipline is one of the reasons many observers believe he is exceptionally prepared for the complexity of governing a state as politically important and economically strategic as Oyo.

His administrative footprint in Lagos State remains one of the strongest arguments in his favour. Under Bola Ahmed Tinubu and later Babatunde Fashola, Dr. Gbadegesin played central roles in reforms that transformed governance systems. He led the restructuring of the Property Identification Exercise and Land Use Charge billing system, expanding the database to roughly 250,000 properties and significantly increasing revenue generation within the first year. In practical terms, this demonstrated an ability to build sustainable fiscal systems—an area where many subnational governments in Nigeria continue to struggle.

Even more significant was his leadership in the computerization of land administration in Lagos, where approximately 12 million pages of land title records were digitized into an electronic system—the first initiative of such scale in Nigeria. That reform improved transparency, reduced delays, strengthened investor confidence, and modernized public records management. For a state like Oyo, where land administration remains central to urban growth, industrial expansion, and internally generated revenue, this experience carries direct relevance.

His years in Oyo government equally provide strong evidence of local understanding and direct policy engagement. Under late Abiola Ajimobi, he served as Special Adviser, Commissioner for Health, and Deputy Chief of Staff. These were not ceremonial appointments; they placed him at the heart of executive decision-making during critical periods of state administration. As Commissioner for Health, he introduced the first statewide ambulance service in Oyo, a landmark intervention that strengthened emergency response and expanded access to urgent medical care across communities. He also championed universal health coverage through the Oyo State Health Insurance framework, demonstrating an early recognition that affordable healthcare must remain a priority in modern state governance.

These achievements matter because governance today is increasingly judged by service delivery, not political popularity alone. In healthcare, revenue systems, digital administration, and institutional coordination, Dr. Gbadegesin has repeatedly shown that he understands how government works from the inside, and how reforms can be implemented without unnecessary delay.

His political experience adds another important layer. He chaired the Research and Strategy Committee that contributed to Governor Ajimobi’s historic re-election, the first successful second-term governorship victory in Oyo’s democratic history. He also coordinated the Oyo operations of the Southwest presidential campaign machinery during the 2015 general elections, proving his understanding of political organization, coalition building, and grassroots engagement.

Beyond Oyo, his national relevance continued when he served in transition and advisory capacities around major governance structures linked to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and later contributed to transition planning for Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu in health and environmental policy. Such exposure has allowed him to operate at high levels of policy coordination while maintaining strong local political roots.

Today, as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Waste Management Authority, he leads one of Nigeria’s most visible environmental institutions, overseeing urban sanitation reforms, waste policy modernization, and environmental sustainability programmes in one of Africa’s largest cities. This role further reinforces his executive readiness, particularly in an era when environmental management, urban planning, and public health are deeply interconnected.

What makes Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin especially compelling for Oyo’s future is that he represents a leadership model built on competence, proven results, and administrative maturity. He combines local political familiarity with national-level governance exposure, technocratic discipline with practical service delivery, and intellectual depth with institutional experience.

Oyo State’s next chapter will demand more than political charisma. It will require someone capable of modernizing revenue systems, strengthening healthcare, managing urban growth, attracting development partnerships, and building institutions that outlive political cycles. In that context, many believe Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin stands not merely as another aspirant, but as one of the most prepared hands available for the task ahead.

Ojomu Royal Family Youth Wing slams Faceless Group’s 72-Hour Ultimatum To Lagos CJ, names Fakorede, Akinloye, Olagbade As Alleged Masterminds

The Youth Wing of the Ojomu Royal Family has strongly condemned the 72-hour ultimatum issued to the Lagos Chief Judge by a faceless group, describing the move as baseless and provocative.

In a statement released on Saturday, the group alleged that the individuals behind the anonymous threat have been identified as Basir Fakorede, Jide Akinloye, and Benson Olagbade, urging authorities to investigate their roles and bring those responsible to justice.

Full Statement:

Rejoinder: The So-Called "Concerned Youth Movement" And Its 72-Hour Ultimatum To The Lagos State Chief Justice

The attention of the Youth Wing of the Ojomu Royal Family of Ajiran, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, has been drawn to a reckless and unfounded publication by a faceless group styling itself as the “Concerned Youth Movement,” purporting to issue a 72-hour ultimatum to the Chief Judge of Lagos State.

Ordinarily, such a puerile and intellectually hollow publication would not merit any response. However, the deliberate distortions, calculated falsehoods, and sustained attempt to mislead the public compel this rejoinder.

For the avoidance of doubt, the so-called “Concerned Youth Movement” is nothing but a phantom platform, a contrived vehicle deployed by known actors, including Bashir Fakorede, Jide Akinloye, and Benson Olagbade, among others, to further their long-standing agenda of intimidation, harassment, and misinformation.

At the core of this orchestrated campaign is a pattern of conduct marked by greed, oppression, and an alarming disregard for truth.

These individuals, acting in concert with Oba Tijani Akinloye and Alhaji Yekini Bakare, have for years presided over the systematic exploitation of Ajiranland to the detriment of its rightful beneficiaries.

Despite the vast land resources associated with the family, its people continue to suffer deprivation and marginalization under the very individuals entrusted with their welfare.

Their recent actions expose a deeper desperation. In a bid to weaponize state institutions, there was an evident abuse of office by Moshood Olorundare Jimoh, the immediate past Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, now elevated to Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2.

His conduct in the matter was not only questionable but demonstrably partisan.

In a most troubling development, the services of N. W. Watson who had been suspended since 2023 by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee were procured to obtain an ex-parte order in Suit No. MISC/60A/2026 on 16th February 2026 for the arrest and remand of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi.

The application was fundamentally defective, riddled with falsehoods, and initiated by a person without legal standing to appear before any court of law in Nigeria at the material time.

Predictably, upon rigorous legal challenge by counsel to Hammed, the order was set aside on the 23rd March, 2026 by the same Magistrate who granted it thereby affirming the sanctity of due process and exposing the illegality underpinning the entire exercise.

Unable to sustain their unlawful enterprise, these actors have now resorted to a campaign of calumny against the judiciary, making baseless allegations against Magistrate Owolabi and dragging the name of Magistrate Alogba who had no connection whatsoever to the matter into their web of deceit.

This is a dangerous and deliberate attempt to intimidate and bully the judiciary into submission.

We however all know that the Lagos State Judiciary is an institution of integrity that will not succumb to blackmail, coercion, or orchestrated media attacks. Such tactics have never succeeded in the past and will not succeed now.

The narrative being peddled about influence, inducement, or fictitious patronage is as laughable as it is baseless.

The suggestion that Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi could procure influence through extravagant gifts is not only false but betrays the desperation of its authors.

Those making such allegations are themselves deeply entrenched in the very system of influence they now hypocritically decry.

As for the spurious criminal allegations being circulated in a bid to malign emerging voices within the Ajiran community, we reiterate our unwavering confidence in the rule of law.

While the public awaits the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, we remain resolute, calm, and assured that truth and justice will ultimately prevail.

The younger generation of the Ojomu Royal Family of Ajiran is now fully awakened to the decades of oppression, exploitation, and mismanagement of their common patrimony. No amount of propaganda, intimidation, or institutional manipulation can reverse this consciousness.

This rejoinder serves as a clear warning: the era of impunity is over. Those who have held Ajiran land and its people hostage will be held accountable lawfully, peacefully, and decisively.

Youth Wing,

Ojomu Royal Family of Ajiran

LAND GRAB OR SMEAR CAMPAIGN? AJIRAN PRINCE HITS BACK AT SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER WITH ₦500 MILLION LIBEL SUIT

LAGOS, NIGERIA — The legal battle lines have been drawn in the heart of the Ojomu Kingdom as Alhaji Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, a prominent businessman and royal family member popularly known as "Hammed Ajiran," has issued a scathing cease-and-desist notice to social media influencer Princess Bola Olofin. The notice, served through the law firm of A.O. Ajulo & Partners, demands a staggering ₦500 million in damages for what it describes as a "deliberate campaign of falsehood and character assassination."

The Root of the Conflict

At the center of the dispute is Hammed Ajiran’s role as the Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Ojomu Royal Family in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area. According to his legal counsel, Akanbi has long been a "champion of accountability and transparency" regarding the sale of community lands. His lawyers argue that this principled stance has made him a target for powerful interests who benefit from the "indiscriminate dissipation" of the community's resources.

The letter alleges that these opponents have orchestrated a smear campaign, recruiting bloggers and influencers to link Akanbi to heinous crimes, including the murders of Prince Ademola and Sheriff Salami in 2023 and 2024.

The "Wanted" Controversy

The friction escalated on February 19, 2026, when Princess Bola Olofin allegedly shared a "wanted" declaration attributed to the Lagos State Police Command on her Facebook page, which reaches over 71,000 followers. Akanbi’s legal team asserts that this declaration was "irregular and unlawful," issued without a court warrant or prior invitation to their client.

Recent developments at the Magistrate Court in Ogba have added fuel to the fire. On March 25, 2026, Olofin reportedly posted a "72-hour ultimatum" from a group calling itself the "Concern Youth Movement of Ajiran," which accused a local magistrate of being induced to set aside the order against Akanbi. The post further alleged that Akanbi used "ill-gotten wealth" to influence top police officers and judiciary members.

The Legal Ultimatum

A.O. Ajulo & Partners have dismissed these online narratives as "malicious falsehoods" designed to expose their client to public hatred and ridicule. They contend that the persistent posts have not only damaged Akanbi’s reputation but have also led to the "destruction of his landed properties."

The cease-and-desist notice gives Princess Bola Olofin 48 hours to:

* Immediately stop disseminating any defamatory material regarding Alhaji Akanbi.

* Delete all defamatory posts and videos from her Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube platforms.

* Publish a clear, unequivocal public retraction and apology.

* Provide a written undertaking to refrain from further defamatory publications.

Failure to comply, the firm warns, will result in a lawsuit claiming ₦500,000,000.00 in damages and a perpetual injunction to silence the influencer’s platforms regarding their client.

As the 48-hour deadline looms, the community of Ajiran remains on edge, watching as this high-stakes clash between traditional authority and digital influence moves from social media feeds to the courtroom.

ROYAL RIFT IN SAGAMU: Court Battle Over Traditional Stool Deepens Crisis in Soomo Village

• Court Sacks Onisoomo of Soomo, Chief Olatunji Solaja, Barred Him From Tittles, Use of Beaded Crown, Other Activities

....Set aside all his purported nomination & installation as Olu or Onisoomo of Soomo

By Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo

The high court sitting in Sagamu has ordered the stripping of the Olu of Soomo his titles, barred him from using a beaded crown, and other activities surrounding the installation as the Olu of Soomo in Sagamu area of Ogun State.

A high-stakes legal confrontation over traditional authority in Ogun State has thrown Soomo Village in Sagamu into the spotlight, as community leaders, monarchs, and government officials clash over the legitimacy of a controversial royal installation.

The dispute, currently before the High Court of Ogun State sitting in Sagamu Judicial Division, has exposed deep divisions within the community and raised critical questions about adherence to the rule of law in chieftaincy matters.

In Suit No. HCS/683/2022, presided over by Hon. Justice M. A. Akinyemi, two prominent figures—Chief Oluwasegun Sotinwa Atobatele and Baale Adekola Omobowale Oduguwa—acting for themselves and members of the Osoribiya Family, have taken legal action against Chief Olatunji Solaja and several influential defendants, including top traditional rulers and key Ogun State government authorities.

At the center of the controversy is the installation of Chief Olatunji Solaja as the Olu or Onisoomo of Soomo Village, an event said to have taken place on March 20 and 21, 2025, at the palace of a senior monarch. The Applicants contend that the installation was carried out while the case was still pending in court, describing it as a clear act of “self-help” and a violation of the legal doctrine of lis pendens, which prohibits actions that could alter the subject matter of ongoing litigation.

Through a Motion on Notice filed on April 9, 2025, the Applicants are seeking a series of court orders, including a mandatory injunction to nullify the installation. They also want the court to compel relevant authorities to restore the chieftaincy stool to its status as of October 4, 2023, which would involve withdrawing all symbols of authority conferred on Chief Solaja. Additionally, they are asking the court to restrain him from presenting himself as the traditional ruler pending the final resolution of the case.

Backing their claims is a 14-paragraph affidavit supported by documentary exhibits, which they argue demonstrate a deliberate attempt to undermine the authority of the court. Their legal team insists that allowing such actions to stand would set a dangerous precedent, encouraging litigants to sidestep judicial processes.

However, the Respondents have strongly opposed the application. In a detailed counter-affidavit, Chief Solaja maintains that he had long held the position of Olu prior to the institution of the suit and argues that the title of “Oba Onisoomo” is a distinct and separate chieftaincy, created under the Ogun State Chieftaincy Law of 2021. He further points to his advanced age—over 90 years—as evidence of his longstanding role in the community’s traditional structure.

Other Respondents also dispute the Applicants’ claims, asserting that the installation did not interfere with the subject matter of the case. They have, in turn, accused the Applicants of altering the status quo themselves by installing one of their members as Baale during the pendency of the suit.

The legal arguments have been intense, with counsel for the Applicants citing established authorities to argue that courts must act decisively when parties attempt to “steal a match” during litigation. On the other hand, the Respondents’ counsel has challenged the competence of the application, arguing that it introduces issues outside the scope of the original suit.

In his preliminary observations, Justice Akinyemi acknowledged the complexity of the issues but emphasized that they remain within the bounds of judicial determination. Notably, he observed that while the Respondents do not deny that Chief Solaja currently occupies the stool of Oba Onisoomo, they maintain that Soomo Village recognizes three distinct traditional roles—Baale, Olu, and Oba Onisoomo—each functioning independently.

The three reliefs (rulings sought) as stated in the court document are:

* Mandatory Injunction to Set Aside Installation: An order to set aside the purported installation of the 1st Defendant (Chief Olatunji Solaja) as the Olu or Onisoomo of Soomo Village. This installation was carried out by the 2nd Defendant at his palace on March 20 and 21, 2025, while the suit was still pending.

* Restoration of Status Quo and Retrieval of Authority Emblems: An order mandating the 2nd, 4th, and 6th Defendants to restore the Chieftaincy Stool of the Oba, Olu, or Onisoomo to the status quo as of October 4, 2023. This involves withdrawing or retrieving the staff of office, instrument of appointment, and all kingly paraphernalia—such as ancient crowns, beads, and horsetails—that portray the 1st Defendant as "His Royal Highness Chief Michael Olatunji Solaja" or "Oba Michael Olatunji Solaja".

* Injunction Against Parading as the Olu or Onisoomo: An order mandating the 1st Defendant to maintain the status quo as of October 4, 2023, by refraining from addressing himself to the public or parading himself in any manner as the Olu or Onisoomo of Soomo Village until the final determination of the suit. The Court ordered the 2nd defendant in the case to withdraw all chiefthancy instruments like bids, staff office, beaded crowns and all related items given to Chief Olatunji Solaja during installation as Onisoomo of Soomo

The case has drawn widespread attention across Ogun State, given its implications for traditional governance and the interplay between customary authority and modern legal systems.

As proceedings continue, residents and observers alike await the court’s final decision, which is expected to have far-reaching consequences not only for Soomo Village but also for the broader framework of chieftaincy administration in Nigeria.

Centre Commends Nigerian Military’s Intensified Operations in North Central, Charges Armed Forces to Deepen Gains and Ensure Peaceful Easter Across The Country

The Civic Centre for National Security and Civic Responsibility (CCNSCR) has commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for what it described as “notable and encouraging improvements” in security operations across Nigeria’s North Central region.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its Executive Director, Dr Johnson Audu, the group said recent military gains in the region reflect a renewed operational drive and stronger coordination under the current leadership of the Armed Forces.

The group noted that communities across several North Central states, previously plagued by banditry, violent attacks, and persistent security disruptions, are beginning to witness a gradual restoration of order, improved troop presence, and more responsive military interventions.

According to the statement, these developments point to a more proactive and intelligence-driven approach by the military, resulting in the disruption of criminal networks and the containment of threats that had long destabilised parts of the region.

“The Civic Centre for National Security and Civic Responsibility commends the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, for the renewed sense of direction and operational coordination within the Armed Forces. The emerging security improvements across the North Central region are both significant and reassuring,” the statement reads.

The group observed that sustained offensives targeting criminal enclaves, alongside increased surveillance and rapid deployment capabilities, have contributed to weakening the operational capacity of armed groups.

It added that the military’s growing ability to secure key transport routes and respond swiftly to distress situations has helped restore public confidence in affected communities.

Dr Audu said the Armed Forces deserve recognition for maintaining pressure on criminal elements despite the complex and evolving nature of security challenges in the region.

“The men and women of our Armed Forces continue to demonstrate resilience, discipline, and commitment in the face of difficult operational realities. Their efforts in safeguarding lives and stabilising communities across the North Central deserve national commendation,” he said.

While applauding the progress made, the group emphasised that the current gains must be consolidated and sustained to prevent any relapse into widespread insecurity.

It urged the military to intensify ongoing operations and maintain strategic momentum in order to ensure that recent improvements translate into lasting peace across the region.

“These gains, while commendable, remain fragile. It is imperative that the Armed Forces sustain the current operational tempo and continue to apply pressure on criminal elements to ensure that stability is not only achieved but preserved,” the statement added.

The group specifically charged the military leadership to replicate emerging pockets of stability across other troubled areas, stressing that consistent presence and sustained engagement are critical to long-term success.

Looking ahead to the Easter period, the CCNSCR called on the Armed Forces to ensure heightened vigilance and robust deployment to guarantee a peaceful and secure celebration across the country.

“We urge the military to sustain and intensify its efforts to ensure that Nigerians across all regions can observe the forthcoming Easter season in peace and safety. The goal must be to replicate and expand current security improvements nationwide,” the statement said.

The group also underscored the importance of citizen cooperation in supporting the work of security agencies, noting that lasting security cannot be achieved through military action alone.

It called on residents of the North Central region and Nigerians at large to remain vigilant, share credible information with security agencies, and resist any form of collaboration with criminal groups.

“Security is a shared responsibility. Citizens must actively support the Armed Forces through vigilance, cooperation, and a collective rejection of all forms of criminality. The fight against insecurity requires a united national effort,” Dr Audu said.

The statement further encouraged community leaders, civil society groups, and local institutions to strengthen grassroots engagement and promote a culture of peace and mutual responsibility.

It stressed that trust between citizens and the military remains a critical factor in sustaining recent gains and preventing the resurgence of violence.

The CCNSCR concluded by reaffirming its support for the Armed Forces and its commitment to promoting civic participation in national security, urging all stakeholders to remain resolute in the collective effort to secure the nation.

“The progress recorded in the North Central region must serve as a foundation for broader national stability. With sustained military effort and active citizen collaboration, Nigeria can move steadily towards lasting peace and security,” the statement said.

BusinessNmdpra’s Fresh Import Licences Will Encourage Dumping Of Low-quality Petrol, Und by AmeboFeeds(op): 12:49am On Mar 26
NMDPRA’s Fresh Import Licences Will Encourage Dumping of Low-Quality Petrol, Undermine Local Refineries — Energy Transparency Group

The decision by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to resume the issuance of petrol import licences has drawn sharp criticism from industry advocates, who warn that the move risks undermining domestic refining efforts and exposing the market to substandard fuel products.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Energy Transparency and Market Justice Initiative (ETMJI) condemned the regulator’s action, describing it as a policy reversal that could weaken recent gains in local supply while encouraging the inflow of lower-quality petroleum products.

The regulator had earlier maintained that domestic refining capacity was sufficient to meet national demand, suspending the issuance of import licences in February. However, following supply disruptions linked to the Middle East crisis, the agency granted fresh licences to six marketers to import about 180,000 metric tonnes of petrol in a bid to stabilise supply.

While the NMDPRA has framed the move as a temporary intervention, ETMJI said the decision reflects deeper inconsistencies in regulatory direction and raises concerns about quality control in Nigeria’s downstream sector.

Dr Salako Kareem, who signed the statement, said the reintroduction of petrol imports under emergency conditions risks opening the floodgates to products that may not meet required specifications.

“What we are witnessing is a deeply flawed response to a complex problem. Attempting to resolve supply shortages by reintroducing large-scale fuel imports, without watertight quality assurance, is comparable to using poison to cure a disease. It may appear to offer immediate relief, but in reality, it introduces far more dangerous consequences for consumers, the market, and the integrity of the regulatory system,” he said.

Kareem argued that rather than reverting to import dependence, the regulator should have prioritised strengthening domestic supply chains and addressing distribution inefficiencies that often create artificial scarcity.

According to him, the decision sends conflicting signals to investors in local refining, particularly at a time when Nigeria is seeking to reduce its reliance on imported petroleum products.

“This policy direction undermines the confidence of investors who have committed resources to building domestic refining capacity. When the regulator oscillates between import substitution and import expansion without a clear framework, it creates uncertainty that discourages long-term investment and planning in the sector. You cannot, on one hand, advocate self-sufficiency and, on the other, reopen the gates to imports at the slightest disruption,” Kareem said.

The group also raised concerns about the potential economic implications of renewed import activity, noting that increased reliance on imports could exert pressure on foreign exchange and contribute to higher landing costs, which are often passed on to consumers.

ETMJI insisted that external shocks should not justify what it described as a “regulatory backslide” in Nigeria’s fuel supply strategy.

Kareem said the focus should instead be on building resilience within the domestic market by improving logistics, enforcing quality standards and supporting local refiners to operate at optimal capacity.

“Short-term fixes that rely on imports may offer temporary relief, but they do not address the structural weaknesses in Nigeria’s petroleum supply chain. What is required is a disciplined commitment to strengthening local production, enhancing regulatory oversight and ensuring that every litre of fuel consumed in this country meets strict quality benchmarks,” Kareem declared.

He further warned that the reintroduction of imports without stringent monitoring mechanisms could revive long-standing issues of product adulteration and regulatory arbitrage, where market players exploit loopholes for profit.

The advocacy group called on the NMDPRA to provide full transparency on the criteria used in issuing the new licences, including safeguards put in place to prevent the entry of substandard products into the Nigerian market.

It also urged the federal government to align regulatory actions with its broader energy transition and economic diversification goals, stressing that inconsistent policies could erode public trust and delay progress in the sector.

As Nigeria continues to navigate a complex energy landscape shaped by both domestic constraints and global uncertainties, stakeholders say the balance between ensuring supply and maintaining standards will remain a critical test of regulatory credibility.

Zamfara 2027: Northern APC Peace Agenda applauds Matawalle, Dauda Lawal's reconciliation

.....Commends Matawalle's large heart, love for President Tinubu's success above personal interest

The Northern APC Peace Agenda has commended the political reconciliation between Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, and his predecessor, Bello Matawalle, describing their alliance under the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a stabilising development ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday in Kaduna and signed by its president, Alhaji Rabiu Ahmad, the group said Matawalle’s decision to forgo any governorship ambition and back Lawal reflects political maturity and a broader commitment to unity within the ruling party.

Matawalle, who currently serves as minister of state for defence, had publicly declared that he would not contest the 2027 governorship election, throwing his weight behind Lawal during a high-profile reception marking the governor’s defection to the APC in Gusau.

Lawal’s move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC effectively realigns Zamfara’s political landscape, bringing both the incumbent and former governors into the same political fold.

The reception, attended by top party figures including Vice-President Kashim Shettima, underscored the significance of the development for the APC’s electoral calculations in the north-west region.

Reacting to the development, Ahmad said the reconciliation signals a rare moment of political responsibility and strategic foresight in a region often defined by intense rivalries.

“The coming together of Governor Dauda Lawal and former Governor Bello Matawalle under one political platform represents a turning point for Zamfara State,” Ahmad said.

“This is not just a political alignment; it is a demonstration of maturity, restraint, and a shared commitment to the stability and progress of the state. At a time when political divisions often undermine governance, this reconciliation sends a powerful message that unity can be prioritised over personal ambition.”

He added that Matawalle’s decision to step aside for Lawal underscores the “large heart” and a clear prioritisation of national interest and party cohesion.

“We commend former governor Matawalle for placing the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration above personal political considerations,” the statement reads.

“Such a decision reflects loyalty, discipline, and an understanding that the strength of the party and the country must come before individual aspirations. This is the kind of leadership that inspires confidence and strengthens democratic institutions.”

The Northern APC Peace Agenda further noted that the development could reshape political dynamics in Zamfara and the wider north-west region if sustained.

“This alignment has the potential to reset the political trajectory of Zamfara State. With both past and present leadership working together, there is now an opportunity to deepen governance, strengthen grassroots mobilisation, and deliver meaningful development to the people. We believe this unity, if maintained, will not only benefit Zamfara but also contribute to broader stability within the region,” Ahmad said.

The group also described Lawal’s defection as a pragmatic move that aligns the state more closely with the centre, potentially improving policy coordination and access to federal support.

Top APC figures have similarly welcomed the development. The party’s national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, said the APC continues to attract leaders committed to governance and national development.

The Progressive Journey of Sen. Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi: A Legacy of Loyalty, Service, and Impact

The story of Sen. Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi (Okanlomo of Ibadanland) is one deeply rooted in loyalty, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to progressive ideals. His political journey dates back to 1989 when he became a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), marking the beginning of decades of active participation in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.

In 1991, he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives Nigeria, where he began to distinguish himself as a focused and result-oriented public servant. His dedication to party growth and organizational strength was further evident in 1999 when he served as the Financial Secretary of the Election Committee of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Oyo State. In that role, he was instrumental in managing the party’s finances effectively, contributing significantly to its performance during the elections.

Following the loss of the Oyo State gubernatorial election in 2003, many beneficiaries and stakeholders distanced themselves from the party. However, Senator Akanbi stood firm at a critical time when loyalty was tested. Demonstrating uncommon commitment, he personally funded the operations of the AD Oyo State Secretariat, covering office expenses and staff salaries from 2004 to 2010. And also finance most of the party's activities during those years in and out of the State. His actions during this period underscored a rare sense of responsibility and belief in the progressive movement beyond personal gain.

His dedication to preserving legacy and promoting education is equally remarkable. Inspired by the vision of Obafemi Awolowo, fondly regarded as the Father of Progressives, who in 1956 built a four-storey primary school with adjoining classroom blocks within the Methodist Cathedral Church, Agbeni, Senator Akanbi undertook the bold task of restoring the historic institution. At a time when the structure had deteriorated and posed safety risks, with a capacity of over 600 pupils at stake, many hesitated. Yet, he stepped forward to rebuild and modernize the school to meet international standards, ensuring the preservation of a legacy and the safety of future generations.

At the core of his philosophy is a deep understanding that true progressivism transcends political affiliation. For Senator Akanbi, being progressive is a matter of mindset, one defined by genuine concern for the welfare of others. Through the Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF), he has continued to champion initiatives that uplift the less privileged, including large-scale empowerment programmes, free healthcare services, and community development projects.

His belief remains clear: progressivism is not inherited, nor is it confined to party lines it is defined by actions, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to improving lives.

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders in the Ife Federal Constituency are being urged to prioritize experience, loyalty, and proven leadership in selecting their next representative at the National Assembly.

This call was made by Hon. Deji Adefisayo, a former Councilor representing Ilode Ward 1 in Ife East Local Government, who emphasized the need for the constituency to avoid what he described as “trial-and-error representation” in the next political dispensation.

According to Adefisayo, the time has come for the people of Ife and its environs to align with a candidate who not only understands the legislative terrain but also possesses the political network required to attract meaningful development to the constituency. He identified Hon. Rotimi Makinde as a standout figure whose track record and long-standing commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) position him as the ideal candidate for the job.

Adefisayo noted that Makinde’s history with the ruling party demonstrates unwavering loyalty and dedication, qualities he believes are essential for effective representation. He argued that unlike newcomers who often lack institutional knowledge and party integration, Makinde’s deep-rooted connections within the APC at both state and federal levels would translate into stronger advocacy and quicker access to developmental opportunities.

“Hon. Makinde is not a novice in legislative matters. He understands how the system works and has built relationships that can be leveraged for the benefit of Ife people,” Adefisayo stated. “His familiarity with key decision-makers at the national level gives our constituency an added advantage in terms of project facilitation and policy influence.”

Highlighting Makinde’s political foresight, Adefisayo referenced his involvement in the early formation of the South West Agenda (SWAGA23) in 2020, describing it as a testament to his commitment to regional progress and strategic planning.

He further stressed that Makinde’s consistent presence in the political space and his alignment with the current administration would ensure that Ife Federal Constituency is not sidelined in the distribution of federal resources and infrastructural projects.

As the 2027 elections approach, Adefisayo cautioned party leaders and grassroots members against yielding to what he termed “money politics” and opportunistic aspirants seeking to capitalize on the electoral process without genuine commitment to the people.

“We must resist the temptation of short-term gains offered by money bags and instead focus on long-term development. Loyalty, consistency, and service should be the criteria for leadership selection,” he said.

He also called on APC leaders within the constituency to send a clear message that dedication to the party will be recognized and rewarded, rather than undermined by last-minute entrants with little or no contribution to the party’s growth.

In his closing remarks, Adefisayo urged constituents to rally behind a candidate who embodies experience, credibility, and a vision for sustainable development.

“As a people, we must get it right this time. The future of our constituency depends on the choices we make today. Supporting a tested and trusted leader like Hon. Makinde is a step toward ensuring that democracy truly delivers dividends to our communities,” he concluded.

FamilyStop The Mischief, You Are Just A Mistress And Inconsequential In The Burial Arr by AmeboFeeds(op): 2:44pm On Mar 25
Stop the mischief, you are just a mistress and inconsequential in the burial arrangement of our son. Akingboye family

A fresh controversy has emerged within the Akingboye family following the death of former Ondo State gubernatorial candidate, Otunba Benson Akingboye, as disagreements intensify over both the circumstances of his death and his burial arrangements.

In the aftermath of his passing, tensions reportedly escalated between members of the extended family and Mrs. Christiana Akingboye, identified as the deceased’s second wife. Some family members had initially alleged foul play, pointing to Mrs. Akingboye and her children, who were said to be among the last to see the deceased alive.

The Lagos State Police Command investigated the matter and classified it as a suspected murder case. However, in a report dated January 5, 2026, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concluded that there was insufficient evidence linking Mrs. Christiana Akingboye and her six children to the death.

The dispute has since shifted to burial arrangements. Mrs. Akingboye is reported to have instituted a suit before the High Court of Lagos State, filed as LD/9238FPM/2026 and assigned to Justice Atinuke Ipaye. She also obtained an injunction restraining the family from proceeding with burial plans earlier scheduled for the last week of March 2026. According to sources, she is insisting that the deceased be buried in Lagos.

In response, members of the extended Akingboye family have strongly opposed her actions, accusing her of attempting to disrupt established family and traditional processes. Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Kembi Olorundare-Akingboye stated that burial decisions remain the prerogative of the family.

He further asserted that while the family recognizes most of Mrs. Akingboye’s children as part of the lineage, one child, identified as Oluwagbemiga, is not biologically related to the deceased but is alleged by the family to be the child of one Lateef Adebiyi from Egba in Ogun State.

The family also emphasized that the deceased was married to Mrs. Josephine Abiola Akingboye both legally and traditionally, and that the marriage remains valid and subsisting.

According to the family, the late Akingboye held significant traditional titles in Ikale land and must be buried in accordance with customary rites in his hometown. They maintained that burying him outside his ancestral home would contravene tradition and carry serious cultural consequences.

They also dismissed alleged claims that Mrs. Akingboye’s legal team holds undue influence, warning that any continued actions perceived as undermining the family’s position would be resisted through appropriate legal and traditional means.

Counsel to Samuel Akingboye the first born of the deceased and respondent in the suit A.O. Ajulo, declined to comment on the matter when contacted, stating that he does not deliberate on issues currently before the court.

As legal proceedings continue, the dispute highlights the complex intersection of legal authority, tradition, and family dynamics in the handling of high-profile burial arrangements.

Court Sets Aside Arrest, Remand, Wanted Declaration Against Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, has set aside its earlier ex-parte order authorizing the arrest, remand, and “wanted” declaration of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran.

The development follows the earlier declaration of Akanbi as wanted for alleged multiple murder by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Olorundare Jimoh, on February 19, 2026. However, in a ruling delivered today, Magistrate L.A. Owolabi of Magistrate Court 3 nullified the ex-parte order initially granted on February 16, 2026.

In his decision, Magistrate Owolabi held that the order was obtained through the concealment of material facts. The court specifically noted that the counsel who filed and argued the application, Nosa Watson Uhumwangho, was under suspension by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee at the time and therefore lacked the right of audience before the court.

The ruling sparked jubilation among members of the youth wing of the Ojomu royal family, who gathered within the court premises carrying banners and placards in praise of the judiciary, describing it as the last hope of the common man.

Counsel to Akanbi, Adedotun Ajulo, Esq., who moved the application to set aside the order, argued that the court must serve as a check on law enforcement agencies. He maintained that where the police act in a partisan or biased manner, the judiciary remains a vital safeguard for the protection of citizens’ legal rights.

The court’s decision effectively nullifies all prior orders relating to Akanbi’s arrest, remand, and wanted status.

CultureA Brief History Of Kobape Town And Market by AmeboFeeds(op): 6:24pm On Mar 21
A Brief History of Kobape Town and Market

Kobape Town, located in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria, is a notable settlement of the Yoruba people with a rich cultural and commercial history. The name “Kobape” is derived from the Yoruba phrase “Ki Oba ko pe,” meaning “May the King reign long.” This name reflects the community’s gratitude to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Oladapo Ademola II, whose wise intervention resolved a major dispute during the town’s early formation.

Origins of Kobape Market (1928)

List of the people that participated in Kobape Market creation.

The participant were:

Name and Origin/Village

Elder Soyebi Ijemo — Lugbesu Village
Elder Agunrege Ijemo — Lugbesu Village
Pa Okedairo Ijemo — Lugbesu Village
Elder Ewuoso Ijemo — Lugbesu Village
Elder Olaogun — Kerewu Village
Elder Kogbodoku — Kerewu Village

Elder Lagba - Igbein Village
Elder Buraimo - Maga Village
Elder Durowoju - Soke Village

The history of Kobape dates back to December 29, 1928, when the idea of establishing a market was conceived. The initiative began through discussions between two palm kernel merchants: Elder Daniel Kehinde Diyaolu of Libegun Village and Elder Ewuoso of Ijemo Lugbesun Village.

At the time, traders faced serious logistical challenges transporting goods to distant markets due to poor road access. To solve this problem, Elder Ewuoso suggested building storage sheds near a major road junction to ease transportation. Elder Diyaolu agreed, and both men erected sheds along the road linking Abeokuta, Oba, Kobape, and neighboring villages.

Their sheds soon became collection points for goods. Gradually, other traders—especially women selling fruits, vegetables, yam, and pepper—began gathering at the site, transforming it into a vibrant trading location.

Formation and Growth of the Market

Recognizing the potential of the new trading hub, the two pioneers consulted community leaders, including Pa Dairo. Elders from Libegun and Lugbesun villages met and unanimously agreed to establish a formal market, initially called simply Oja (market).

As commercial activities increased, artisans such as bicycle repairers joined, further boosting the market’s importance.

Conflict and Royal Intervention

The emergence of the new market led to conflict with leaders of existing markets, particularly Ido Market, as both operated on the same day and along the same route. The dispute escalated and required intervention from the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Oladapo Ademola II.
After hearing both sides, the Alake delivered a fair judgment:

Each market would operate on different days to avoid conflict.

The new market would hold before Owode Market, while Ido Market would follow four days later.
Satisfied with the ruling, both parties expressed their gratitude by chanting “Ki Oba ko pe” (“Long live the King”). In honor of the monarch, the market was named Kobape, evolving from Oja Kobape to the present-day Kobape Market.

Founding Contributors

The establishment of Kobape Market was a collective effort involving elders from several villages, including Ijemo Lugbesun, Kerewu, Libegun, Ido, Lemode, Aro Oba, Imo, Ayetoro, Sodepete, Igbein, Maga, and Soke, among others. These elders, alongside their families, laid the foundation for what would become a thriving community.

Expansion into a Town

Following the market’s success, surrounding villages were allocated spaces within the market for storage facilities. This encouraged permanent settlement, leading to the gradual transformation of Kobape from a market center into a full-fledged town.

The market operated on a nine-day cycle, attracting traders from far and near and strengthening regional commerce.

Educational Development

Although nearby villages had primary schools, Kobape lacked a secondary institution. In 1979, under the leadership of Chief James Adegboyega Majekodunmi, the community initiated plans to establish a secondary school.
A committee comprising prominent community leaders worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. Their efforts led to the establishment of Kobape Community High School in 1980, with Mr. Okeowo as the first principal.

Traditional Leadership

The first Baale (traditional head) of Kobape was Chief James Adegboyega Majekodunmi, who ruled until 1998. He was selected through traditional consultation and installed by leading elders.

Subsequent Baales included:

Chief E. O. Olaogun
Chief Fasanya
Chief Yinusa Adegboyega
Chief J. A. K. Folarin

In 2011, the leadership structure was elevated from Baale to kingship.

The First King

The first king of Kobape was King Olufemi Alani Tailor, who ruled from 2011 until his passing on December 24, 2021.

Conclusion

From a simple trading shed established to solve transportation challenges, Kobape has grown into a thriving town with strong cultural heritage and economic significance. Its history reflects unity, cooperation, and respect for traditional authority—values that continue to shape its identity today.

Coalition urges IGP to rebuild public confidence on Nigerian police

…Seeks investigation of AIG Moshood time in Lagos

The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations in collaboration with the Centre for Citizens’ Rights has urged the Inspector General of Police to rebuild public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the President of the Coalition, Adeyemi Olorunsogo and its Secretary, Kolawole Abe Emmanuel, said Nigerians expect professionalism, impartiality, and accountability from the leadership of the Force.

The Coalition expressed concern over consistent and clear repeated interference of the Lagos police command in matters that are purely civil in nature, and actions that suggest a troubling pattern of bias in the handling of sensitive disputes.

It said: “Over the past few weeks, our coalition has repeatedly drawn the attention of the public to the disturbing conduct of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos State, particularly under the leadership of the immediate past Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olorundare Jimoh Moshood.

“We, therefore, call on the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police to exercise utmost caution in the deployment and assignment of senior officers, particularly in situations where their previous conduct has generated serious public concern.

“We note that Mr. Moshood has now been posted away from Lagos. We also acknowledge the appointment of the new Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, whose professional reputation in intelligence-led policing, crime management and strategic leadership has earned him public respect.

“In view of this new leadership and in the hope that professionalism and accountability will define the next phase of policing in Nigeria, this coalition has resolved to suspend its earlier planned protest until further notice.

“In situations where the police ought to remain neutral and professional, the conduct of the former Commissioner appeared to tilt the scale in favour of certain interests, thereby undermining public confidence in the impartiality of law enforcement.

“In February 2026, without a valid court order, without a formal invitation, and without a lawful warrant of arrest, the former Commissioner reportedly declared Alhaji Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi wanted for murder.

“This declaration arose in the context of a family and community land dispute involving factions within the Ajiran community. Allegations bordering on murder is a very sensitive one as it does not only speak to law but sanctity of life and one accused of such if not cleared carries a life time burden.

“Following that declaration, the property of Alhaji Akanbi was reportedly destroyed by individuals who allegedly operated under the protection and watch of officers of the Lagos State Police Command.

“The Nigeria Police Force must never be seen as taking sides in private civil disputes. The integrity of law enforcement depends on neutrality, professionalism, and respect for the rule of law.

“Declaring a citizen wanted without a lawful warrant, proper investigation, or court order raises serious concerns about abuse of police authority and must never become a precedent in a democratic society.

“While promotions within the Police Force fall under the authority of the Police Service Commission, we believe that officers whose actions have generated significant public concern should be carefully scrutinized before being entrusted with greater responsibility.

“The appointment of the new Inspector-General of Police presents an opportunity to rebuild public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force. Nigerians expect professionalism, impartiality, and accountability from the leadership of the Force.

“Civil society exists to hold power accountable. Our intervention is not political; it is a duty to protect the rule of law and defend the rights of citizens. We wish the new Inspector-General of Police success in his assignment and urge him to live up to the expectations of millions of Nigerians who desire a police force that is professional, impartial, and accountable.”

“New Petrol Import Permits May Reverse Nigeria’s Push for Domestic Refining and Increase Pressure on Foreign Reserve” — Energy Policy Group Tells President Tinubu

An energy policy group has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the wider economic consequences of newly issued permits allowing marketers to import petrol into the country, warning that the move could undermine Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen domestic refining and stabilise the economy.

In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, the Energy Transparency and Market Justice Initiative (ETMJI) said the approvals granted by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) could produce unintended consequences if not carefully managed.

The group’s president, Dr. Salako Kareem, said Nigeria was at a delicate moment in its energy transition and that policy choices made now would determine whether the country finally escapes its decades-long dependence on imported refined petroleum products.

Kareem said while the regulator’s responsibility to guarantee adequate fuel supply is understood, expanding import permissions at this stage could weaken the policy direction required to encourage local production and long-term sector stability.

“Our respectful appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that decisions concerning petrol importation must be carefully weighed against their long-term economic consequences,” Kareem said.

“Nigeria has spent decades trying to overcome the paradox of being a major crude oil producer while relying heavily on imported refined products. Any policy action that appears to reopen the floodgates of importation may slow down the progress that has been made toward strengthening domestic refining capacity.”

He warned that increasing petrol imports could place additional pressure on the country’s foreign exchange reserves, especially at a time when the government is pursuing difficult economic reforms aimed at stabilising the naira and improving fiscal discipline.

“For many years, the country has lost enormous volumes of foreign exchange importing petroleum products that could ideally be refined locally,” Kareem said.

“If import volumes begin to rise again, the demand for foreign currency will inevitably grow. This could place renewed strain on the naira and undermine the broader economic stabilisation programme that the government is currently pursuing.”

The group also warned that excessive reliance on imported petrol could create opportunities for product dumping and the entry of substandard fuel into the Nigerian market, a challenge that has troubled regulators and consumers in the past.

According to Kareem, Nigeria’s downstream sector has historically struggled with quality control issues whenever importation becomes widespread, because imported fuel often travels through multiple intermediaries before reaching domestic depots.

“One of the lessons from the past is that when imports dominate the supply chain, the market sometimes becomes vulnerable to the dumping of inferior petroleum products,” he said.

“This not only creates regulatory complications but also exposes Nigerian consumers to fuels that may damage vehicles, affect industrial machinery and ultimately impose hidden economic costs on the country.”

He added that encouraging domestic refining and strengthening local supply chains would provide better product traceability and improve overall market transparency.

Kareem stressed that the group’s intervention was not intended as criticism of the NMDPRA, noting that regulators must often make complex decisions to prevent supply disruptions in a volatile energy market.

However, he urged the federal government to ensure that short-term supply management does not weaken long-term national objectives in the petroleum sector.

“We recognise that the regulator has the responsibility to ensure that Nigerians do not experience fuel shortages, and that duty is extremely important,” he said.

“But at the same time, policy coherence is essential. The country must avoid sending signals that could discourage investment in local refining or create uncertainty about Nigeria’s commitment to energy self-sufficiency.”

Kareem said Nigeria now has a rare opportunity to restructure its downstream petroleum industry in a way that strengthens domestic production, protects foreign exchange reserves and builds long-term industrial capacity.

He urged the president to ensure that the country’s regulatory framework reflects that strategic vision.

“Our appeal is simply for policy alignment. If Nigeria truly wants to build a resilient energy economy, then every major decision in the downstream sector must reinforce the goal of reducing import dependence, strengthening domestic production and protecting the country’s economic stability,” Kareem noted.

The group added that careful policy coordination between regulators and the presidency would help ensure that Nigeria avoids repeating the costly fuel import cycles that have historically drained public resources and weakened the national economy.

Mob Attacks Wanted Robbery Suspect In Enugu, Police Recover Pump-Action Gun

A suspected armed robber who had been on the police wanted list in Enugu State was severely beaten by an angry mob after he was caught with a pump-action gun at a market square, police sources said.

The suspect, identified as Friday Onwujekwu, popularly known as “Nwatico,” was reportedly apprehended by residents at the Eke Market Square in Akiyi, Umulokpa area of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area on Friday afternoon.

According to a situation report obtained on Sunday, the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on March 13, 2026, after the police received a distress call that the suspect had been captured by members of the public and was being lynched.

Onwujekwu had been declared wanted by the state police command following an earlier attack on a member of a local neighbourhood watch group.

Police sources said that on January 10, 2026, the suspect allegedly attacked Okechukwu Dennis Okoaku at Awkunato Village in Uzo Uwani LGA and dispossessed him of a pump-action gun before fleeing the area.

After months on the run, the suspect was reportedly sighted at the market square while still in possession of the stolen weapon, leading to his capture by residents.

“The suspect who had been on the run was caught at Eke Market Square in Akiyi Umulokpa while armed with the same pump-action gun he earlier stole. He was being lynched by an irate mob before police intervened,” a police source said.

The Divisional Police Officer quickly mobilised a patrol team to the scene, where they rescued the suspect from the mob. However, he had already sustained varying degrees of injuries from the beating.

The suspect was initially rushed to the Police Clinic in Enugu for urgent treatment but was later referred to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla, where he is currently receiving medical care.

Police authorities said the case has been transferred to the Command’s Crack Squad in Enugu for further investigation.

Meanwhile, security sources noted that the general security situation in the state remains calm, with police continuing aggressive patrols and monitoring across communities.
