Use Your Security Vote to Address Insecurity and Stop the Blame Game - Arewa Youth Tells Gov Dauda Lawal The Arewa Youth Network for Peace (AYNP) has described Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal as an utterly ineffective leader whose tenure has plunged the state into a cesspool of insecurity, illegal mining, and governance collapse. In a statement issued in Kaduna on Tuesday, the group accused Lawal of squandering Zamfara’s vast resources while offering nothing but excuses, starkly contrasting his failures with the tangible achievements of other governors like Nasarawa’s Abdullahi Sule. “Dauda Lawal is a monumental disappointment, a governor who has turned Zamfara into a bandit’s paradise while hiding behind hollow rhetoric,” said Comrade Yusuf Idris, the group’s convener. “Unlike his counterparts who have transformed their states with far less, Lawal has no achievements to his name—only a legacy of chaos, misery, and misrule.” The group drew inspiration from Governor Sule’s remarks at the 2025 Northern Nigeria Investment and Industrialisation Summit in Abuja, where he challenged governors to take full responsibility for security amid unprecedented federal allocations. Sule revealed that monthly disbursements to the three tiers of government have quadrupled under President Bola Tinubu’s reforms, with over N2.2 trillion shared in August alone, compared to N590 billion to N620 billion in 2019. “Every state now has the resources to secure its people. We should stop blaming anybody for our security. If we are blaming anybody, blame ourselves,” Sule declared. The Arewa Youth Network turned this into a scathing indictment of Lawal’s leadership. “While Sule has attracted investors to build a 3,000-metric-tonne-per-day mineral processing plant and completed another 6,000-tonne facility in Nasarawa, Lawal has allowed illegal mining to flourish in Zamfara, bankrolling bandits and devastating communities,” Idris charged. “Zamfara’s security vote is a bottomless pit, yet bandits roam freely, schools remain shuttered, and farmers are too terrified to till their land. Lawal’s administration is a masterclass in incompetence.” The group didn’t hold back, accusing Lawal of abandoning Zamfara’s people to their fate. “Under Lawal, governance is a myth. Roads are death traps, hospitals are empty shells, and communities are ghost towns. "He has failed to deliver even a single project that justifies the billions pouring into Zamfara monthly,” Idris said. “Compare this to Nasarawa, where Sule has confirmed oil reserves of five to seven million barrels and expanded rice cultivation from 3,300 to 8,000 hectares. Lawal’s only talent is pointing fingers while Zamfara burns.” The youth network further slammed Lawal for his apparent indifference to the suffering of Zamfara’s citizens. “Villages are sacked daily, women and children are kidnapped, and illegal miners operate with impunity under Lawal’s nose. Is this what leadership looks like? "He should be ashamed to call himself a governor,” Idris fumed. “His security vote is a scandal, vanishing into thin air with no results. "Lawal is not just failing—he’s actively making things worse.” The group called on Lawal to take a cue from proactive governors like Sule, who have harnessed increased allocations to drive security and development. “Stop whining, stop blaming others, and start governing. Zamfara’s people deserve a leader, not a chronic underachiever who watches as the state collapses,” Idris said. “If Lawal cannot deliver, he should resign and spare Zamfara further agony.”

PIA Amendments: Group Vows Nationwide Protest Against FG’s Attempt to Sell Critical Assets The National Rebirth Movement (NRM) has vowed to mobilise Nigerians for nationwide protests against what it described as a dangerous plot by the federal government to amend the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and sell off critical national assets. In a statement issued on Monday in Kaduna, Comrade James Jonah Gbudu, president of the movement, accused Finance Minister Wale Edun of spearheading moves that would strip the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) of its backbone and hand over the country’s oil wealth to cronies. “These amendments are the handiwork of Wale Edun, who appears to think he will be in government forever. Nigerians must rise against this kind of individual mentality and the planned return of the Obasanjo/Atiku era that sold off critical national assets. This time, they want to sell everything to their friends and render the NNPCL naked,” Gbudu said. The NRM president said the movement would not fold its arms while government policies mortgage the nation’s future. He described the PIA, passed into law in 2021 after two decades of delay, as one of the few reforms that provided a clear framework for the oil and gas sector. The group said it believes President Bola Tinubu may not be aware of the move to amend the PIA and sell off public assets. “It is barely four years since the PIA came into effect, and instead of strengthening it, this government wants to dismantle its safeguards. Our national oil company, which should be a source of pride and revenue for all Nigerians, is being targeted for stripping under the guise of reforms. We believe President Bola Tinubu may not be fully aware of the implications of this move, but Nigerians will not be passive while their future is auctioned,” he said. Gbudu recalled how past privatisations failed to deliver value to citizens, saying they mainly enriched a few politically connected businessmen. He warned that repeating that pattern in the oil sector would deepen poverty and unemployment. “The Obasanjo/Atiku era taught us bitter lessons. NEPA was sold, yet Nigerians are still in darkness. Refineries were left comatose while billions are spent on fuel imports. We will not allow another cycle of deception,” he declared. Instead of amending the PIA to pave the way for asset sales, Gbudu urged the government to focus on transparency and accountability within the NNPCL. “What Nigerians want is openness. We want to know the real figures, the contracts, the daily production, the inflows and outflows. That is what will build trust and efficiency. Selling off assets to friends of those in government will only deepen corruption and rob the country of future revenues,” he added. The NRM leader said the group has begun consultations with civil society organisations, labour unions, student groups and community leaders to resist the proposed changes. “We are ready to lead Nigerians to the streets if necessary. This is not just about oil, it is about the survival of our commonwealth. If they insist on amending the PIA to sell off our assets, we will mobilise nationwide protests,” Gbudu warned.

How Malami, Former Rep Member Imported Bandits, Terrorists Into Kebbi Revealed ***Why Ex-AGF Is Desperately Trying To Cover Up ***How Attempts To Frame Gov Nasir Failed A treacherous plot to unleash terror on Kebbi State has been laid bare, exposing a chilling conspiracy masterminded by former House of Representatives member Muhammad Shehu Koko and backed by former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN). Koko, notorious for his longstanding ties to bandits and terrorists, allegedly orchestrated the importation of violent criminals into Kebbi to destabilise Governor Nasir Idris’s administration, with Malami funnelling $1 million to fuel the chaos. As security agencies close in on Koko, Malami’s desperate attempts to divert attention from his embattled ally have collapsed, leaving Kebbi’s innocent residents as the true victims, haunted by the fear of renewed violence in their peaceful state. Koko, a disgraced ex-lawmaker for Koko/Maiyama Federal Constituency, is infamous for working closely with bandits and terrorists, a reputation that predates his political career. Sources reveal that days before the plot’s execution in early September 2025, Koko travelled to Zamfara’s dense forests, holding clandestine meetings with notorious bandit leaders and suspected Lakurawa terrorists. These meetings, held in remote hideouts near the Kebbi-Zamfara border, were orchestrated to recruit an army of criminals to wreak havoc in Kebbi, aiming to undermine Governor Idris’s security achievements and boost Koko’s flagging relevance in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after his suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in May 2025 for anti-party activities and corruption charges. The conspiracy took a darker turn with Malami’s involvement, as the former AGF (2015–2023) allegedly provided Koko with $1 million to bankroll the bandits and terrorists, with explicit instructions to “resume work” in Kebbi by launching attacks to create panic and discredit Idris’s governance. Malami, who defected to the ADC alongside Koko in July, saw the scheme as a stepping stone for his 2027 gubernatorial ambitions. However, Koko’s greed unravelled the plan. According to a former ally who was part of the plot but later opted out, Koko pocketed most of the funds, releasing only $100,000 to the bandits with a promise of more “once they resumed work in Kebbi.” This betrayal infuriated his ally, who abandoned the scheme and leaked details to authorities, blowing the lid off Koko’s treachery. Malami’s frantic efforts to shield Koko from scrutiny have taken center stage as the main issue, with the former AGF launching a desperate campaign to divert attention from his ally’s crimes. On September 10, the ex-AGF filed a petition to the National Security Adviser, Inspector General of Police, DSS, and other agencies, falsely accusing Governor Idris of importing “foreign mercenaries” and arming terrorists. This audacious attempt to frame Idris was a smokescreen to deflect from Koko, who is now under intense investigation by security agencies for his bandit connections and the misappropriated $1 million. Three sources have come forward with explosive testimonies to indict Koko and Malami. A repentant bandit, who attended the Zamfara forest meetings, confessed: “Koko came to us in the bush, promising big money to attack Kebbi towns. "He said Malami gave him $1 million, but he only gave us $100,000, saying we’d get more after we started trouble. I backed out when I saw he was cheating us and using Kebbi’s people as pawns. "Those families don’t deserve this fear—it’s all Koko’s greed.” A security operative in Kebbi, speaking anonymously added: “Koko’s notorious for running with bandits—he’s been their political fixer for years. As the Kebbi State Police Command and DSS deepen their investigation, calls for Koko and Malami’s arrest for terrorism financing and treason are deafening.

ONDO 2024; Inside Agboola Ajayi’s Last-Minute Withdrawal at the Supreme Court A Report by an Ondo based Group by Sunshine Centre for Justice and Development has faulted recent claims that the PDP Candidate in the last Ondo State Governorship election, Honorable Agboola Ajayi, withdrew his Petition against the election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa from the Supreme Court, on the ground of Patriotism. In a dramatic twist less than 24 hours before the Supreme Court was billed to deliver judgment on the keenly followed governorship dispute in Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 2024 gubernatorial election, suddenly announced the withdrawal of his appeal against the victory of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The decision, though dressed in the robes of patriotism, has sent shockwaves across political and legal circles, with fresh revelations now emerging about the controversial legal journey Ajayi embarked upon since his defeat at the polls, and the desperate behind-the-scenes efforts to manipulate the judicial process in his favour. From Tribunal to the Supreme Court of Nigeria, it was A Desperate Odyssey. The November 2024 election in Ondo State produced a clear and overwhelming victory for Governor Aiyedatiwa, who coasted to power with a margin that observers described as “undisputable.” But Agboola Ajayi, former Deputy Governor of the state and PDP flagbearer, refused to concede. Within weeks, he approached the Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, citing alleged irregularities and demanding the nullification of Aiyedatiwa’s victory. When the tribunal dismissed his petition for lack of merit, Ajayi swiftly proceeded to the Court of Appeal. Recall, that it wasn't the first time that Ajayi desperately approached the court, to sabotage the electoral victory of Aiyedatiwa, having earlier dragged the then candidate Aiyedatiwa and his running mate, Dr Olaide Adelami before the high court through to the Supreme Court, over their qualifications, to stand as candidates in the election, another futile journey which ended in a letdown. In May 2025, the appellate court upheld the tribunal’s ruling, reiterating that the PDP candidate had failed to substantiate his allegations. Still undeterred, Ajayi escalated the matter to the Supreme Court, the last bus stop in Nigeria’s judicial hierarchy. The apex court fixed September 17, 2025, as the date for judgment. But, to the shock of many, Ajayi abruptly filed a notice of withdrawal on September 16, a day before the ruling. Exclusive findings reveal that Ajayi’s withdrawal was not driven by patriotic concern, but rather by the exhaustion of his options after multiple failed attempts to manipulate the judicial process. Sources with knowledge of the matter disclosed that the former deputy governor liquidated at least two prime properties in Abuja, one located in the upscale Asokoro District and another twin properties in the Mabushi area, to bankroll what insiders described as “backdoor engagements” with judicial middlemen. He also received funds from a northern ex-service chief and a PDP governor all in vendetta to unseat Governor Aiyedatiwa at all costs. Their desperation, according to those familiar with the case, was driven by the conviction that only through heavy financial inducement could he secure a favourable ruling overturning Governor Aiyedatiwa’s landslide victory and paint him, unpopular and inexperienced. While Ajayi’s withdrawal has been widely hailed in some quarters as an act of statesmanship, observers argue that such praise is misplaced. Shockingly, even senior members of the Aiyedatiwa administration, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, who had initially called on Ajayi and other petitioners to withdraw their petitions, were quick to innocently commend the move, describing it as a patriotic sacrifice to end litigation and allow governance to thrive. But investigations suggest otherwise. Ajayi did not bow out of magnanimity, he was forced into retreat after repeatedly hitting brick walls in his bid to compromise the judiciary. In fact, his legal team were to be sanctioned for bringing a frivolous appeal but for the withdrawal, yet the Supreme Court despite the withdrawal tongue tongue-lashed his lawyer for disturbing the peace of the justices. The much-celebrated withdrawal, therefore, is nothing more than a tactical retreat dressed in patriotic colours. This episode once again shows a disturbing political culture in which public office is seen as a business enterprise rather than a call to serve. For Agboola Ajayi, the governorship contest was less about the people of Ondo State and more about personal ambition, fueled by the willingness to gamble millions of naira, even at the risk of selling prized assets, and dine with the devils just to secure power. Ondo State citizens, particularly those in positions of public trust, must resist the urge to romanticise Ajayi’s decision. Instead, the focus should shift to exposing the ignoble roles played by desperate politicians who attempt to hold the democratic process hostage. With the withdrawal and eventual dismissal of the appeal, by the Supreme Court, the 2024 Ondo governorship election litigation chapter has been conclusively closed. Governor Aiyedatiwa can now fully focus on governance without the distraction of legal fireworks. Yet, as history records this episode, it must also note the dangerous lengths some politicians are willing to go in pursuit of power. The people of Ondo deserve leaders who see politics as service, not an investment to be recouped through manipulation and compromise. In the final analysis, Ajayi’s withdrawal should not be mistaken for patriotism, it is a forced and shameful surrender, the inevitable consequence of desperation meeting immovable and incorruptible justice.

Nigerian Neighborhood Watch and Community Service Corps Sets To Establish Comprehensive Database of Members Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo In an era where community safety is paramount, Nigeria is taking a significant stride towards enhanced security with the establishment of the Nigerian Neighborhood Watch and Community Service Corps. This innovative initiative aims to create a well-coordinated security framework that clusters communities across the nation, fostering an environment of vigilance, partnership, and trust between citizens and security agencies. The core objective of the Nigerian Neighborhood Watch is to empower local communities by decentralizing security efforts, thus ensuring that security is effectively brought closer to the grassroots. By breaking down larger regions into smaller, manageable units, the initiative allows for a more attentive and responsive approach to local security concerns. This clustering approach not only enhances surveillance but also facilitates more efficient dissemination of intelligence to government bodies and security agencies. To kick off the program, the Nigerian security agency is set to screen new applicants eager to join the corps. This rigorous screening process aims to ensure that only responsible and trustworthy individuals are integrated into the initiative. Successful candidates will be entered into the agency's biometric database, receiving official identification cards that validate their role as community watchdogs. This step is crucial in maintaining a high level of accountability and professionalism among members. The establishment of a comprehensive biometric database will serve multiple purposes. Firstly, it allows for seamless access to information by federal and state governments, ensuring that security forces are well-informed about who is actively participating in community watch programs. Moreover, it strengthens the relationship between citizens and law enforcement, fostering a culture of cooperation and shared responsibility for safety. Community members will be trained in various aspects of surveillance, conflict resolution, and emergency response, equipping them with the tools necessary to effectively monitor their surroundings and react appropriately to any potential threats. This training not only enhances individual preparedness but also reinforces the collective security of the community. For residents, the benefits of the Nigerian Neighborhood Watch extend beyond safety. By participating in this corps, community members are afforded the opportunity to engage positively with their neighbors and local authorities, building a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose. This initiative encourages grassroots participation and empowers citizens to take an active role in maintaining the security and well-being of their neighborhoods. As Nigeria confronts various security challenges, the Nigerian Neighborhood Watch and Community Service Corps stands as a beacon of hope—a reminder that community-driven solutions can play a vital role in national security. Through collaboration, vigilance, and proactive engagement, this initiative seeks to build a safer Nigeria for all citizens. Community leaders are encouraged to support this initiative, rallying their constituents to participate and foster a spirit of togetherness in the pursuit of a secure environment. The power of a united community cannot be underestimated, and as this program unfolds, it promises to not only enhance local security but also enrich community ties and resilience. In conclusion, the Nigerian Neighborhood Watch and Community Service Corps represents a significant step forward in the fight for a safer Nigeria. By combining the strengths of local citizens with the resources of national security agencies, this initiative sets a precedent for collaborative community safety efforts that can be modeled by other nations facing similar challenges. Together, Nigerians can create a proactive and responsive security network that truly reflects the will and determination of its people.

Dangote vs NUPENG: Christian Youths Announce 14-Day Fasting and Prayer Against NUPENG's Disruptive Agenda The Young Christian Fellowships in Nigeria Without Borders (YCFNB) has announced a 14-day fasting and prayer campaign across the nation, running from September 15 to September 29 to stand as a bulwark against the enemies of the Dangote Refinery. The group said the sacred initiative is directly focused on the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) amid escalating tensions and recent threats to resume a nationwide strike. The union’s accusations of breached agreements involving high-ranking officials like Minister Wale Edun and Department of State Services (DSS) representatives have been labelled as duplicitous by the YCFNB. The fellowship sharply condemned NUPENG’s reckless posturing, which it says risks plunging Nigeria into fuel scarcity and economic chaos, viewing it as a shameless act of sabotage against a patriot under siege. According to a statement signed by Rev. Samuel Pam and Pastor JohnGrace Achaluda, the group said their persistent defiance of national unity and collaboration with external interests to undermine local industry further deepens the crisis, leaving millions vulnerable to hardship, while their blatant disregard for the welfare of ordinary Nigerians heightens the need for spiritual intervention. In stark contrast, the YCFNB extols Aliko Dangote as a persecuted hero, whose refinery, boasting a 650,000-barrel-per-day capacity, has emerged as a global marvel by exporting fuel to the United States and shielding Nigeria from foreign oil dependency. "Dangote's refusal to yield to the cabals—powerful elites profiting from import reliance—has invited unjust vilification, yet his resilience radiates integrity and national pride, a beacon amid NUPENG’s alignment with agents of darkness," the statement said. Anchoring their fast in scripture, the YCFNB cites “The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face” (Deuteronomy 28:7, KJV), inspiring prayers for divine protection over Dangote’s vision. "This crusade is a rallying cry for Christian communities nationwide to join daily intercession, countering NUPENG’s disruptive agenda that jeopardises millions of businesses dependent on petrol," the statement said. "The refinery’s success, driven by Dangote’s steadfast commitment, offers a path to stability, yet NUPENG’s threats hint at a sinister intent to prioritise foreign interests over Nigerian welfare, with the potential rise in goods and service prices due to scarcity underscoring the economic stakes." The YCFNB warns NUPENG that should they dare resurrect fuel queues and scarcity, the outraged masses will hunt them into hiding, fiercely defending their livelihoods. This fast, they added, is a battle for economic sovereignty, urging the union to embrace dialogue to avoid the righteous anger of a nation united behind Dangote’s persecuted brilliance.

The Unspoken Code: When Political Loyalty Becomes a Currency of Betrayal In the intricate and often volatile landscape of Nigerian politics, a disturbing trend has taken root, one that is as ethically bankrupt as it is unpatriotic. It is the spectacle of a political appointee, someone who was brought into the limelight, given a platform, and paid a salary by a government, turning around to publicly malign the very administration that elevated them. This act of political betrayal, driven by the lure of a new "paymaster," is not just absurd; it is a corrosive force that undermines the very fabric of our political system and moral values. This phenomenon is a stark reflection of the transactional nature of our politics, where loyalty is not a matter of shared vision or principle, but a commodity to be bought and sold. The individuals in question, having benefited immensely from the goodwill and patronage of one administration, sees no moral contradiction in becoming the chief critic of their incumbent (former; because they now have another paymaster) benefactors. Their newfound voice is not a product of a sudden awakening to a higher truth, but a calculated move to secure a new position or a better deal from a different political camp. The argument often made is that these individuals are now "speaking the truth" and "exposing the government's weaknesses." While accountability and transparency are crucial for any democracy, the motivation behind such revelations must be critically examined. When the same individuals who were cheerleaders for the government now becomes its most vocal detractors, it begs the question: were they complicit in the "weaknesses" they now condemn? Did they turn a blind eye to these issues while they were benefiting from the system, only to find their voice when their interests aligned with a new faction? You know the most annoying part? They do not have the courage and the ball to resign their appointments in same administration they are condemning. This act is nothing but a profound betrayal of trust, not just to the government, but to the public. It sends a dangerous message that political service is merely a means to an end, a stepping stone to a more lucrative opportunity. It devalues the concept of public service and replaces it with a cynical, self-serving opportunism. It portrays our politicians as mercenaries, ready to switch allegiances at a moment's notice for personal gain, with no regard for the consistency, integrity, or the public good. Such behavior also erodes public faith in the political class as a whole. It confirms the long-held suspicion that many of our leaders are not driven by a genuine desire to serve the people, but by a relentless pursuit of power and wealth. It makes a mockery of the democratic process, turning it into a game of musical chairs where the prize is not the privilege of leadership but the spoils of office. For a nation aspiring to build a stable and prosperous democracy, this trend is a poison. It normalizes deceit and encourages a culture of "any means necessary" to get ahead. It teaches the next generation of leaders that principles are negotiable and that loyalty is a flimsy concept. We must kick against this act with every fiber of our being. We must demand a higher standard of our leaders and political appointees. True patriotism and a commitment to public service require a different kind of character, one that is guided by integrity, not by opportunism. It requires individuals who are willing to stand by their convictions, even when it is not politically expedient. While no one should be silent in the face of injustice, a critical and constructive voice from within a system is far more valuable than a public spectacle of betrayal after the fact. The latter only serves to expose the moral vacuum at the heart of our political culture. It is time for a new kind of politics, one where loyalty is earned through principle and service is a sacred trust, not a temporary currency. Aroboto Rasheed Ado Odo Ward 2 SA Sports Development to the Ogun State Governor.

State Police Will End Insecurities in Nigeria, APC Chieftain Alhaji Yisa Omoade Commends President Tinubu Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo ABEOKUTA – Alhaji Ismail Adebayo Yisa, widely known as OMO-ADE and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North Local Government, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recent decision to establish state police as a crucial step toward addressing the security challenges currently facing Nigeria. During a recent visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja by a delegation of notable Katsina indigenes, led by Governor Dikko Radda, President Tinubu reaffirmed the necessity of creating state police as part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen national security. His remarks come in the wake of escalating insecurity issues plaguing various regions in the country, particularly in the northern states. "The introduction of state police is not just an option; it is an imperative," said OMO-ADE. He expressed optimism that localized policing will empower states to address specific security concerns more effectively and bolster the safety of their citizens. This sentiment reflects a growing consensus among various stakeholders, advocating for a more robust, decentralized approach to law enforcement that can respond swiftly to the dynamic security landscape. President Tinubu underscored the urgency of the situation during his address, emphasizing the federal government’s commitment to confronting insecurity with decisive action. "The security challenges that we are facing are surmountable," he asserted, acknowledging the inherited vulnerabilities that have left the nation exposed. He pointed out the need for a reassessment of operational strategies by security agencies, particularly in Katsina State, which has seen a surge in banditry. To combat these rising threats, Tinubu revealed plans to deploy advanced military equipment and surveillance technology while enhancing the capacities of newly recruited forest guards in the state. His administration has approved additional acquisitions of drones aimed at improving situational awareness and operational effectiveness in the fight against crime. "We will defeat insecurity. We must protect our children, our people, our livelihood, our places of worship, and our recreational spaces. They cannot intimidate us," he proclaimed, reinforcing his commitment to securing the nation. <<<The President also highlighted the establishment of a committee in February 2024, tasked with studying the framework for state policing, emphasizing the administration’s serious commitment to finding a viable solution. While the initiative has garnered considerable support, he noted that as of March, 20 states had yet to submit their reports, stressing the need for timely participation from all states to ensure the success of the proposed law enforcement reform. Alhaji OMO-ADE's commendation of President Tinubu's proactive measures reflects the broader aspirations of the APC and its dedication to tackling the pressing issue of insecurity head-on. He believes that empowering state-level law enforcement will not only enhance public safety but also restore the faith of Nigerians in their government’s ability to protect them. As Nigeria grapples with multifaceted security dilemmas, the dialogue surrounding the establishment of state police remains pivotal. The efficacy of such measures will largely depend on the collaboration between federal and state governments, as well as the engagement of local communities in the broader effort to reclaim safety and security across the nation. In conclusion, the recent statements by President Tinubu and the backing from leaders like Alhaji OMO-ADE signal a significant shift towards a more community-oriented approach to policing in Nigeria, with the potential to transform the landscape of national security for the better.

Group Drags Ondo Finance Commissioner, Chief of Protocol, Others to EFCC Over Alleged Corruption A new wave of corruption allegations is rocking Ondo State, as a civic pressure group, the Movement for the Redemption of Ondo State (MROS), has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe top members of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s cabinet. In a strongly worded petition dated and submitted through the EFCC Lagos Zonal Office, the group accused some key government officials of engaging in financial crimes, abuse of public office, contract racketeering, and diversion of local government funds. The petition, signed by MROS President, Ekujuni Abayomi, alleged that the activities of certain cabinet members have crippled local governance, enriched a few individuals, and endangered the developmental future of Ondo State. At the center of the allegations are four senior officials of the state government, namely Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac accused of being the mastermind of what the group described as “monumental diversion of public funds.” MROS claims she has overseen unauthorized withdrawals, inflated contracts, and suspicious acquisitions of properties within and outside Akure. Also named is the Chief of Protocol to the Governor, Abayomi Olusanya , described as “a conduit for siphoned funds,” he is alleged to have suddenly acquired prime properties in Akure, including residences linked to the upscale Ojaja Park estate. The group also named the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ayorinde Olawoye whom he accused of manipulating contract figures, particularly in the controversial Judicial Village Project, where insiders allege massive inflation of project costs. Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo (SAN) , is also implicated as a co-supervisor of the Judicial Village Project, with accusations of complicity in mismanagement and deliberate cover-ups. According to the petition, “funds meant for local government development have been systematically siphoned through ghost projects, inflated contracts, and dubious transfers, leaving grassroots councils bankrupt.” Ondo State, historically known for its bold strides in education and resource management during the late Adekunle Ajasin administration, has in recent years become entangled in allegations of mismanagement of oil-producing area revenues and local government allocations. The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) has been under scrutiny several times in the past over mismanagement of the 13% derivation funds. Similarly, successive administrations have faced accusations of bloated contracts, abandoned projects, and the diversion of funds meant for rural development. The current allegations add to what political observers describe as a pattern of elite capture of state resources, particularly as Ondo prepares for the upcoming governorship election. MROS insists its petition is not politically motivated, but rather a “patriotic intervention to save Ondo State from the stranglehold of corruption.” The group has also copied President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ICPC Chairman in its submission. The group warned that failure of the EFCC to act decisively could spark a mass civil society movement in the state. “This petition is not a witch-hunt but a call for accountability. The people of Ondo State cannot remain silent while their future is mortgaged by a few individuals driven by greed,” Abayomi stated in the petition. President Bola Tinubu has repeatedly emphasized his administration’s commitment to fighting corruption. Analysts suggest that the EFCC’s response to this petition will be a litmus test of how seriously the administration is willing to pursue anti-graft measures at the subnational level, especially in politically sensitive states like Ondo. The EFCC, which has in the past investigated state governments over diversion of local government allocations, now faces pressure to either open a full-scale probe or risk being accused of selective prosecution. As of press time, the Ondo State government had not issued an official statement in response to the allegations. With the state already tense over upcoming political contests and the administration facing internal divisions, the corruption allegations threaten to deepen the cracks. Civil society activists say the probe, if carried out, could redefine accountability in Ondo State. For now, all eyes are on the EFCC to determine whether the petition marks the beginning of another high-profile investigation or fades into the growing list of unresolved corruption allegations in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Exclusive: How Former Minister Malami and Ex-Rep Shehu Koko Imported Notorious Bandits to Destabilise Kebbi ***Meet Waterloo in the Hands of Angry Residents, APC Supporters A devious plot orchestrated by former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and disgraced ex-Representative Muhammad Shehu Koko to destabilise Kebbi State has spectacularly backfired. The duo, now prominent figures in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), allegedly imported notorious bandits and thugs to wreak havoc in the state, only to be met with fierce resistance from enraged residents and loyal All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters. The incident, which unfolded on Monday in Birnin Kebbi, has exposed the underhanded tactics of Malami and Koko, revealing a sordid pact rooted in political desperation and criminal collusion. According to multiple sources, Malami and Koko, both recent defectors from the APC to the ADC, conspired to unleash chaos in Kebbi State to bolster their fledgling political relevance. Malami, who served as AGF from 2015 to 2023 under the late President Muhammadu Buhari, resigned from the APC on July 2, 2025, and joined the ADC, reportedly nursing ambitions for the Kebbi governorship in 2027. Koko, a former House of Representatives member for Koko/Maiyama Federal Constituency, was suspended by the APC in May 2025 alongside nine others for alleged anti-party activities, disloyalty, and harassment of party executives. Sources claim the duo’s defection was fueled by their rejection by Kebbi’s political mainstream, prompting them to resort to thuggery and violence to intimidate opponents and assert dominance. “It’s no secret that Koko has a long history of thuggery,” said a senior APC official in Birnin Kebbi, speaking anonymously. “Before he wormed his way into politics, he was known for hiring bandits to terrorise rivals. Now, he’s found a willing partner in Malami, who’s using his legal clout to shield Koko from his corruption trial. "Their plan was to destabilise Kebbi, make it look like the APC is losing control, and position themselves as saviours. But the people of Kebbi are wiser than that.” The plot unravelled on Monday when Malami’s convoy, supposedly on a condolence visit to families in Birnin Kebbi, was allegedly used as a cover to transport armed thugs and bandits to the APC state headquarters along Old NITEL Road. Malami claimed his convoy was attacked by “suspected political thugs” emerging from the APC office, a narrative he peddled to journalists, lamenting that “about 10 vehicles were vandalised” and supporters injured. However, multiple eyewitnesses and residents paint a starkly different picture, accusing Malami and Koko of orchestrating the violence themselves. “They weren’t attacked; they were the attackers,” said a local trader who witnessed the chaos, also speaking anonymously. “Malami and Koko brought these hoodlums to vandalise the APC secretariat and intimidate supporters. They thought they could bully their way into relevance, but the people of Birnin Kebbi wouldn’t have it. "Residents and APC loyalists spotted the thugs, chased them down, and stopped their nonsense. That’s why Malami is crying foul now – his plan failed, and he’s embarrassed.” Sources added that Koko personally mobilised the bandits, leveraging his longstanding connections with men of the underworld. “Koko has been linked to bandits for years,” a security operative in Kebbi revealed. “He uses them to harass opponents, disrupt elections, and create fear. "This time, he promised Malami an army of thugs to boost his ADC campaign, while Malami, with his legal influence, assured Koko protection from his ICPC troubles. It’s a dirty deal, plain and simple.” The Kebbi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident.

Group urges Ojulari to address corruption allegations A group, the Nigerian Transparency Initiative (NTI), has urged the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, to openly address the corruption allegations leveled against him in recent months. The group said the controversies trailing his leadership are too weighty to be ignored, insisting that silence would only deepen public suspicion and erode confidence in the national oil company. In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, Muyiwa Salami, cordinator of NTI, in a statement, said the controversies are capable of undermining the reputation of the NNPCL and the confidence of Nigerians in the oil sector. “We call on Mr. Bayo Ojulari to answer these allegations in clear terms. Failure to do so will only suggest that there is something to hide,” Salami said. The group also noted that while some groups have dismissed the allegations as political blackmail orchestrated by entrenched interests, the scale and consistency of the reports demand accountability. “It is in Ojulari’s own interest and in the interest of the Nigerian people that he speaks up. Transparency is the only way to clear the air and preserve the integrity of his office,” the statement added. The group further called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other relevant agencies to intensify investigations into the allegations, stressing that Nigerians deserve full disclosure on matters that touch on billions of naira in public resources.
