Setting the Record Straight: The Awujale Ademolu Fesogbade Royal Family Responds to Misleading Claims

The Awujale Ademolu Fesogbade Royal Family of Ijebu Ode has issued a strong rebuttal in response to a recent publication by an unknown Adeyemi Ruling House that appeared in Punch Newspaper on August 17, 2025. The article, titled “Exclusion of Family from Ruling Lineage of the Awujale,” has been criticized for its false and misleading assertions regarding the royal lineage of Ijebuland.

In an official statement, the family emphasized the need to clarify the historical inaccuracies presented in the publication regarding their esteemed lineage. Central to the family’s response is the misguided claim that HRM Oba Ademolu Fesogbade, who reigned as the Awujale from 1917 to 1925, was purportedly a sibling of an individual named Adeyemi. The royal family categorically refutes this assertion, stating that such a sibling relationship never existed.

“The historical record is clear,” said Prince Rasaki Oladunjoye, the Head of the Awujale Ademolu Fesogbade Royal Family. “Our ancestor, Oba Ademolu Fesogbade, is a significant figure in our history and had no sibling by the name of Adeyemi. We stand firmly by the truth of our lineage and urge the public to regard claims to the contrary with skepticism.”

The family further clarified the lineage of Oba Anikinaiya Fugbajoye, the father of Oba Ademolu Fesogbade. His sons included notable figures such as Adeleke Oluboyejo (Ogbagba I), Mabadeje, Adekoya Ofirigidi, Ademolu Fesogbade himself, and Ade-ewu Adeire. This lineage is crucial to understanding the true historical context of Ijebu royalty and dispelling recent falsehoods.

In addition, the family took issue with another claim made in the publication regarding the late Awujale HRM Oba (Dr.) Olukayode Adetona GCON Ogbagba II. The article incorrectly suggested that Oba Adetona hailed from an Adeyemi family. Prince Oladunjoye emphasized that Awujale Adetona belonged to the respected Adeleke Oluboyejo Ogbagba lineage of the Anikinaiya Ruling House, further affirming the authentic historical ties of the royal family.

The Awujale Ademolu Fesogbade Royal Family calls upon the public and the media to disregard the recent publication as nothing more than a misguided attempt to manipulate the respected legacy of their ancestors. They view the claims made in the article as speculative, malevolent, and devoid of factual merit.

“This is not merely a matter of family pride; it is about preserving the truth of our history,” Prince Oladunjoye stated. “We urge those who read the publication to approach it critically and remember that the history of Ijebu land is rich and complex, deserving of respect and accuracy.”

The family concludes with a solemn reminder to the authors of the publication to refrain from misusing the name of their revered ancestor, Oba Ademolu Fesogbade, in efforts that seek to undermine the integrity of their lineage.

As this situation unfolds, the Awujale Ademolu Fesogbade Royal Family remains committed to safeguarding the authenticity of their heritage and encouraging a deeper understanding of the historical narratives that shape Ijebuland.

Provide Evidence Or Face Legal Action — Comrade Odebunmi Tells Comrade Adedeji

By Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo

In an escalating conflict within the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), the immediate past chairman of the Abuja Council, Comrade Timothy Odebunmi, has issued a stern ultimatum to Comrade Oke Oluwaseun Adedeji, the State Vice Chairman of the NCSU Ogun State Council. Odebunmi has threatened legal action unless Adedeji can provide evidence to substantiate his recent allegations within 24 hours.

The controversy stems from a press release issued on August 2, 2025, by Comrade Adedeji, who accused Comrade Odebunmi of receiving an improper loan of ₦5 million from Comrade Sanyaolu, alleging misuse of power in the transaction. Adedeji’s claims suggested that this financial arrangement lacked transparency and documentation, stating, “It is on record that Comrade Sanyaolu in his usual way of abusing powers, lent one Comrade Odebunmi…without any traces of repayment.”

In response to these serious accusations, Comrade Odebunmi has formally challenged Adedeji to present credible evidence supporting his claims. "I will not sit idly by while my character and standing within the union are unjustly attacked," declared Odebunmi. "If Comrade Adedeji fails to substantiate his allegations within the next 24 hours, I will be compelled to pursue all available legal actions against him to defend my reputation."

The allegations have sent shockwaves throughout the NCSU, stirring debate among members about ethical conduct and accountability within the union leadership. Many members are expressing their concerns over the potential ramifications of such allegations on the organization’s integrity and cohesion.

As the clock ticks down toward the deadline set by Odebunmi, union members are closely watching how leadership will react. The resolution of this dispute is critical as it may set a precedent for issues of governance and ethics within the NCSU.

For now, both Comrades stand at a pivotal juncture, with legal consequences looming should the allegations remain unproven. Observers within the union are calling for a candid dialogue to address the issues raised, emphasizing the need for transparent leadership that fosters trust and cooperation among members.

As this high-stakes confrontation unfolds, members of the NCSU and the broader public await clarity and resolution in a matter that could have lasting implications for the organization’s future stability and reputation.

I would like to Go Back to the House of Reps if ... — Hon.Adesegun Adekoya a.k.a Attacker

The immediate past House of Reps Member representing Ogun waterside, Ijebu East and Ijebu North Federal Constituency of Ogun State,Hon.Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya has revealed his intention to return to the Federal House of Representatives if the environment is conducive.

Speaking to journalists recently at his Ago-Iwoye residence, the former lawmaker disclosed, "if the environment is conducive I would like to go back to the green chamber so that I can complete projects that I embarked upon but have now been abandoned in my constituency like the uncompleted hospital at Ako, the Ago-Iwoye Stadium, Orimolusi Palace, Buruji Kashamu Skill Acquisition Center, Imusin Ajina Shopping Complex and a host of others,if only to go back and complete those projects,I am willing to contest again ".

On the situation in his party, the People's Democratic Party in Ogun State,Hon.Adekoya expressed his delight that the crisis in the party at state level has been relatively settled unlike in the past when there was division within the party.

"Ogun State PDP is now relatively peaceful especially with the exit of the aggrieved members to another party. In the past huge amount of money was being spent on court cases, for example I spent 160 million Naira on litigation alone whereas APC the major opposition party spent less than 1 million Naira, you can imagine if such amount of money was spread to all the wards in my federal constituency to mobilize people nothing would have stopped me from winning the election" Hon. Attaker revealed.

The pioneer Chairman of Kosofe Local Government,Lagos State saying that his political relevance and ascendance is never an aberration because he rose through the ranks in politics saying,"I was an elected Councillor in Shomolu Local Government,Lagos State,I was appointed as a Supervisor and later Vice Chairman in the same local government before I was elected as Local Government Chairman while in Ogun State I was Commissioner for eight years before I was elected as House of Reps Member ".

Reacting to his possible crossing to the ruling party,APC, Attacker who recently was honoured with the prestigious Chieftaincy title as the Bobasuwa of Ijebu Igbo by His Royal Majesty Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo, the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo in recognition of his contribution to grassroots development, declared,

"it has never crossed my mind to move to the APC because the party has not impressed the masses, there is hunger in the land,no good road while schools are not having enough teachers, the situation of paucity of teachers in the schools is so bad that influential individuals have to visit higher institutions like Olabisi Onabanjo University and Tai Solarin University's Faculties of Education to lobby for their students on teaching practice to come and teach in our schools".

On the 2027 election,Hon.Adekoya while disclosing that the presidential election would be based more on candidates than parties, revealed further that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should spread his appointments to all parts of Yorubaland,"out of every ten appointments, eight are coming from Lagos, the President should know that Lagos is not the only Yoruba State,"Attacker said.

Hon.Adekoya during whose tenure in the House of Reps projects were spread across all parts of the Federal Constituency he was representing like Imusin shopping complex, Imobi Town Hall, Ilodo Town Hall, Ogbe Bridge at Ijebu Ife,block of classrooms in towns within the constituency as well as laptop to some schools, roads projects in most of the towns in the constituency,Ago Iwoye Stadium and provision of solar lights and poles to some towns, Iwopin and Ooni jetty to mention but a few, assured the people of the constituency that he hopes to use his established connection to do more for them "because the legislative chamber is more of a caucus thing if you are not connected you may not achieve much."

CEGA Hails Approval of 37 New Crude Oil Routes, Says NUPRC Is Winning the War Against Oil Theft

The Centre for Energy Governance and Accountability (CEGA) has commended the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) for securing federal government approval of 37 new crude oil evacuation routes as part of a broader strategy to curb oil theft, deepen transparency, and revive Nigeria’s oil production.

Gbenga Komolafe, chief executive of NUPRC, had on Tuesday at the 2025 Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week in Abuja announced the new routes and provided updates on sector-wide reforms designed to reposition Nigeria’s upstream industry for resilience and global competitiveness. He said the commission’s alignment with the armed forces and security agencies has also helped protect critical oil infrastructure.

In a statement on Sunday, CEGA described the development as “a major milestone” in Nigeria’s decades-long struggle with oil theft and revenue losses, and praised Komolafe for “translating policy into measurable results.”

“The approval of 37 new evacuation routes is not just a bureaucratic adjustment—it is a strategic intervention in a sector that bleeds billions annually. This move signals seriousness in plugging leakages and restoring investor confidence,” said Dr Kelvin Sotonye Williams, executive director of CEGA.

Dr Williams said Komolafe’s leadership at NUPRC has helped stabilise a regulatory environment that had, until the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) in 2021, been plagued by uncertainty and opacity.

He said the results are already becoming evident with the $16 billion investment commitments secured under the Tinubu administration in just two years.

“These are not paper promises. These are real inflows driven by clarity of vision, regulatory consistency, and aggressive digitisation,” Williams said.

He also praised the commission’s One Million Barrels Initiative, which aims to ramp up daily production from the current 1.7 million barrels per day (bpd) to 2.5 million bpd by 2026. Komolafe said the strategy was launched in 2024 and is yielding results by reviving dormant fields, accelerating project approvals, and eliminating bottlenecks in the upstream licensing regime.

According to CEGA, raising production is the clearest route to energy security and fiscal independence, especially in an era when global upstream investment needs to reach $640 billion annually to meet demand projections through 2030.

“Komolafe is correct to warn that failure to invest in supply will threaten global and regional stability. Nigeria’s oil reserves are a strategic asset that must be optimally managed, not underutilised,” the CEGA executive director said.

He also highlighted the commission’s HostComply initiative, which ensures real-time compliance with host community obligations under the PIA, as a major factor in securing the social license to operate in restive oil-producing regions.

“Peace cannot be sustained by rhetoric. The HostComply platform makes social obligations traceable and measurable, which is vital to trust-building in the Niger Delta,” Dr Williams said.

He added that CEGA was particularly encouraged by NUPRC’s integration of environmental accountability into its upstream policies, including support for Nigeria’s 2060 net-zero target.

“The transition to clean energy does not mean abandoning oil and gas. It means producing cleaner, more responsibly, and reinvesting in long-term energy security. The commission’s reforms reflect this balance,” he said.

CEGA called on all stakeholders, including state-owned and private operators, to align with the commission’s vision and commit to ethical, climate-conscious operations.

“With Komolafe at the helm, the NUPRC is clearly not content with the status quo. They are thinking beyond survival; they are working towards transformation,” Williams said.

The group urged the federal government to continue supporting the reforms by insulating the regulatory space from political interference and ensuring that executive orders—such as those on local content and cost-efficiency—are enforced consistently.

“As long as this reform momentum is sustained, the Nigerian upstream sector will not only recover—it will lead Africa’s next wave of responsible fossil fuel development,” CEGA stated.

Coalition Commends Police Professionalism During Protest At Force Headquarters.

.... condemn continuous attack on IGP, Force PRO

The Coalition of Civil Rights Organizations (CCRO) has commended the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for the high level of professionalism and maturity displayed during yesterday’s protest at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, staged by a group of politicians masquerading as activists.

In a press release signed by its General Secretary, Kolawole Abe, the coalition expressed satisfaction with the peaceful manner in which the Police handled the gathering, led by controversial activist and former presidential aspirant, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, who, alongside his group, staged what was described as a politically motivated demonstration under the guise of demanding improved welfare for serving and retired police personnel.

According to the coalition, despite deliberate provocations and unruly conduct by Mr. Sowore and some members of his group, the Police exercised utmost restraint and allowed the protesters to express themselves freely around the premises of the Force Headquarters, thereby upholding the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.

"We commend the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and the entire leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for their decorum, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to democratic values, even in the face of attempts to provoke confrontation,” the statement read.

The coalition further hailed the IGP for his consistent efforts to engage both serving and retired officers of the Nigeria Police Force in meaningful dialogue, stressing that the IGP’s meeting with retired officers held on the same day at the Force Headquarters was a significant demonstration of his commitment to ensuring their welfare concerns are addressed through proper institutional engagement.

“IGP Egbetokun’s continued interface with retired officers, particularly his meeting with them yesterday, is an attestation to his proactive leadership and sensitivity to the genuine welfare needs of the police community. He has proven that institutional issues can be resolved within the ambit of the law, not through politically charged protests,” Kolawole Abe stated.

The coalition passed a vote of confidence on the IGP, describing his leadership as strategic, people-oriented, and guided by a deep understanding of the constitutional role of the police in a democratic society.

In addition, the CCRO praised the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, for his consistent engagement with civil society, the media, and other stakeholders, even in the face of persistent personal attacks often incited by the same political actors.

“Despite targeted campaigns of calumny spearheaded by Mr. Sowore and his cohorts, ACP Adejobi has remained a symbol of civility, transparency, and professionalism in public communication. His role has been instrumental in bridging the gap between the police and the public,” the coalition added.

The Coalition of Civil Rights Organizations reaffirmed its readiness to continue partnering with the Nigeria Police Force to promote human rights, accountability, and institutional reforms, while calling on Nigerians to resist attempts by political actors to exploit legitimate concerns for selfish agenda.

PoliticsAl-makura, Gemade Lack Capacity To Lead APC — Research Group by AmeboFeeds(op): 11:48am On Jul 22, 2025
Al-Makura, Gemade Lack Capacity To Lead APC — Research Group

A leading policy think tank within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Progressive Research Initiative (PRI), has raised concerns about those angling to lead the party, declaring that Senator Tanko Al-Makura and Chief Barnabas Gemade do not possess the competence or contemporary political credentials required to guide the ruling party into the 2027 elections.

In a statement jointly signed by Dr. Ali Ahmed and Dr. Tersoo Aondona, senior research fellows of the PRI, the group described the two aspirants as “yesterday’s men seeking tomorrow’s responsibilities”, and warned that recycling obsolete figures would jeopardise the party’s prospects in a fast-evolving political environment.

“We have studied, with concern, the growing speculation around the possible return of Senator Al-Makura and Chief Barnabas Gemade to national party leadership,” the statement reads.

“Our findings are unequivocal: neither of them reflects the tactical depth, ideological clarity, or generational appeal that the APC desperately needs ahead of 2027.”

The group noted that Senator Al-Makura, a former governor of Nasarawa State and senator, has not demonstrated the political energy or innovative leadership style required to reform and reposition the APC at this critical juncture.

“Al-Makura’s public record since leaving the governorship has been marked by silence and political absenteeism. He is banking on past associations rather than proven ability to organise, mobilise or inspire. In a moment that demands strategic clarity, ideological rearmament and mass appeal, he offers only nostalgia,” said the PRI.

“Gemade was once national chairman of the PDP — a party we defeated — and later served as senator. But let’s be clear: his politics belongs to the analogue era. He lacks resonance with the youth, no ideological grounding in the APC’s progressive credentials, and has no track record of party building in the digital age.Chief Gemade cannot be the face of a 21st-century ruling party.”

While the group refrained from endorsing any candidate for the national chairmanship, it called on President Bola Tinubu to “look inwards” and prioritise competence, cohesion and capacity over compensation politics.

“The APC does not need a caretaker. It needs a combat-tested strategist who understands the stakes of 2027 — and who can unify the party, reinvigorate the base, and speak to the dreams of everyday Nigerians. President Tinubu must resist the pressure to reward loyalty at the cost of victory,” the research group stated.

The PRI warned that the 2027 election would be a referendum not just on performance but on leadership coherence, and that the national chairman of the APC would play a pivotal role in shaping narratives, managing internal disputes, and confronting a resurgent opposition.

“The next chairman must be one who can beat the opposition to the storylines, restore discipline to party structures, and rebuild trust among the youth, women, and civil society actors. None of this can be achieved by men who peaked politically in the last century,” the statement said.

The think tank urged President Tinubu to consider the evolving structure of voter behaviour, where digital mobilisation, coalition politics, and policy-based engagement will define the next electoral season.

“This is a moment for renewal, not recycling. Our democracy cannot afford an APC that looks tired, dated, or indifferent to the changing tides. We must find new leadership that speaks the language of reform and understands the rhythm of our times,” it said.

Concluding, PRI warned that ignoring these realities would not only be a strategic blunder, but a historic mistake.

“We owe the Nigerian people a vibrant, disciplined, and ideologically coherent ruling party. Anything less would be a betrayal of our progressive promise.”

The Progressive Research Initiative is an independent policy and political think tank dedicated to evidence-based strategy and internal party renewal.

PoliticsSenator Bagudu And His Strategic Blueprint For Economic Growth by AmeboFeeds(op): 11:41am On Jul 22, 2025
Senator Bagudu And His Strategic Blueprint For Economic Growth

By Thomas Amuna

In the bustling heart of Nigeria’s economic landscape, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, CON, stepped into the role of Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, carrying the weight of a nation’s hopes. With a vision sharpened by years of academic rigour and a heart fueled by patriotic zeal, he embarked on a mission to reshape the nation’s fiscal destiny, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and renewal.

Appointed by President Tinubu to steer the Renewed Hope Agenda, he set out to transform Nigeria’s economic narrative, weaving policies that promised growth, stability, and opportunity. With a master’s touch, he tackled fiscal challenges and championed welfare programs, determined to carve a path to prosperity for millions. His bold reforms, from stabilising the naira to empowering communities, lit a spark of hope in a nation yearning for progress.

Born in 1961 to a teacher father whose lessons of discipline shaped him, Bagudu’s journey from the classrooms of Usman Danfodio University to the corridors of power was marked by a quiet resolve and sharp intellect. Guided by an unyielding commitment to excellence, he honed his expertise through advanced degrees, laying the foundation for a career that would steer Nigeria toward economic renewal.

He furthered his expertise with a Master’s of Science Degree from the University of Jos, delving into the intricacies of economic policy, and complemented this with a Master of Arts Degree in International Affairs, equipping him with a global perspective on governance and development. These academic milestones, grounded in discipline instilled by his teacher father, sharpened his ability to navigate complex fiscal landscapes, preparing him to steer Nigeria’s economic planning with strategic foresight.

When President Tinubu appointed Senator Bagudu as Minister of Budget and Economic Planning on August 16, 2023, it was no surprise to those familiar with his remarkable track record. A seasoned leader, Bagudu had already proven his mettle as Governor of Kebbi State from 2015 to 2023, where he transformed a struggling state by recovering billions in misappropriated funds, investing over ₦20 billion in Sustainable Development Goals programs, and empowering thousands of youths through skills acquisition.

Bagudu's innovative partnership with Lagos State for the Lake Rice project bolstered food security, earning him praise from the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as an “ambassador for rural economic transformation.” As a two-term senator for Kebbi Central (2009–2015), Bagudu demonstrated legislative acumen, winning elections decisively and establishing a reputation for expertise in governance and economic policy. This robust history of leadership, from revitalising Kebbi’s infrastructure to driving national agricultural initiatives, made Bagudu a natural choice to steer Nigeria’s economic planning toward prosperity.

Bagudu embarked on a mission to rebuild the nation’s economy. With unwavering focus, he streamlined the ministry’s operations, channelling his energy into policies that sparked economic growth and lifted the aspirations of millions. His disciplined approach shone through in bold fiscal reforms—slashing deficit financing and embedding transparency and accountability into budget processes—earning trust as a patriot committed to steering Nigeria toward prosperity through strategic planning.

In a bid to attract foreign direct investors, and also encourage domestic investments and partnership, he insisted on structural and attitudinal transformation of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. His prioritisation of social welfare initiatives, including the conditional cash transfer to about 15million Nigerians, household financial support program for the small and medium enterprises, has led to salvaging many businesses and also relieving several families from the stress of the removal of the fuel subsidy, thereby addressing the menace of unemployment and hunger.

Indeed, Senator Bagudu is a courageous administrator whose pragmatism was further demonstrated through the removal of the ubiquitous foreign exchange market, the flouting of the naira, and such other courageous steps taken to restore fiscal discipline and ensure economic growth. History will certainly remember Bagudu when mention is made concerning the construction of several capital projects, such as road constructions, railway expansion, and the successes recorded in the housing sector and other social and infrastructural developments taking place around the country today.

His collaboration and synergy with the various stakeholders, investors and partners has led to the GDP rebase, enhancing the steady growth of the GDP, stabilisation of the exchange rate, and the build-up of investors' confidence. It is to Bagudu's credit that for the first time in the country, targeted capital projects are being completed on time. This is also a demonstration of his skillfulness and consistency of character.

His assertive and deliberate character has earned the country a higher and significant rise in capital expenditure, to an enviable record-breaking 23.4 TN this year. Senator Bagudu is capable, competent, and well-informed. He is also a creative problem solver who has positively influenced and woven concrete policies far beyond the shores of this country, making distinct and reliable strides into a future of unprecedented forecast of 36.35TN positively implicated by an ambitious drive to scale up revenue from oil and reduce cost.

A strategic thinker, his resilience and verifiable sacrifice-driven public service have had numerous positive and dynamic impacts on the promotion of a viable economic diversification agenda, in areas of agriculture, modern use of technology, reduction of the nation's dependence on oil and the general growth of the non-oil sector of the economy. Notably, Bagudu's inclusive policy with his community-focused economic strategy, which addresses the development of safety nets and a robust grassroots empowerment bearing, has amplified his sincerity at helping the country achieve greatness within such a short period of time and yet written his name on the golden rock of Nigeria's history.

As Senator Bagudu steers Nigeria’s economic journey, his quiet resolve weaves a legacy of hope, touching countless lives through transformative policies. His vision for a diversified economy—rooted in agriculture, technology, and non-oil sectors—charts a bold path toward prosperity through strategic foresight and relentless dedication. With roads paved, railways extended, and communities uplifted, Bagudu’s pragmatic leadership is not only shaping Nigeria’s present but forging a vibrant future, marking him as a patriot whose dreams are reshaping a nation.

PoliticsTanimu Yakubu: Architect of Nigeria’s Modern Fiscal Framework by AmeboFeeds(op):
Tanimu Yakubu: Architect of Nigeria’s Modern Fiscal Framework

By Amdrew Akor

Tanimu Yakubu, Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation, has emerged as a central figure in Nigeria’s public financial management landscape—an institutional reformer whose career has consistently fused macroeconomic insight with operational discipline. Since assuming office, he has redefined Nigeria’s budgeting architecture, embedding transparency, policy coherence, and institutional accountability into the heart of the federal fiscal process.

A seasoned technocrat with extensive experience as Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning in Katsina State (1999–2002) and as Chief Economic Adviser to President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Tanimu brings a uniquely integrative understanding of public finance—from subnational fiscal strategy to sovereign economic planning. His tenure at the Budget Office marks a return to first principles: restoring credibility, reasserting control, and retooling the budget as both a development and stabilization instrument.

Strategic Overhaul of the Budgetary Process

Under his leadership, the Budget Office has undergone a substantive shift from a narrow appropriation-processing agency to a policy-focused fiscal authority. He has championed the institutionalization of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) as a credible fiscal anchor, linking budget plans to national development objectives while ensuring alignment with macroeconomic realities. Through enhanced inter-agency coordination and early budget call circulars, the office under his watch has ensured the timely preparation and enactment of annual appropriation laws—most notably achieving passage of the 2025 Appropriation Act before the close of 2024.

This level of timeliness, transparency, and technical rigour had been elusive for decades. Tanimu’s reforms have not only restored credibility to the national budget process but have also improved investor confidence, credit rating dialogue, and fiscal predictability across MDAs.

Fiscal Discipline, Monitoring, and Compliance

A cornerstone of his administration has been the enhancement of post-appropriation control mechanisms. Recognizing that appropriations without accountability are hollow, he strengthened the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) architecture within the Budget Office, introducing real-time capital budget performance tracking and outcome-based reporting frameworks. This has curtailed the incidence of abandoned projects, misallocated resources, and opaque fund utilization.

He has further championed the integration of digital monitoring dashboards, ensuring that disbursements and physical project progress are reconciled regularly—thus enabling proactive decision-making by the Presidency, National Assembly, and fiscal authorities.

Budgeting as a Development Strategy

Beyond technical reforms, Tanimu has repositioned the budget as a platform for national development and economic renewal. In close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the President, he led the articulation of a triple-budget approach for the fiscal year: the 2024 Main Budget, a targeted 2024 Supplementary Budget, and the early preparation of the 2025 Budget—all seamlessly integrated to finance priority projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also supervised the revival of Nigeria’s GDP rebasing process, a move long delayed, but one that is foundational for accurate macroeconomic planning, sectoral targeting, and sovereign risk pricing. This initiative has not only improved the integrity of public data but also attracted renewed interest from international development partners and private sector investors.

Sectoral Impact and Cost-Efficiency

In line with President Tinubu’s focus on agriculture and energy security, Tanimu ensured timely release and efficient tracking of funds to critical sectors. His interventions in the upstream oil sector, including fiscal policy dialogue with the NNPC and Ministry of Petroleum Resources, have contributed to lower cost-per-barrel benchmarks and increased production efficiency. Similarly, his structured intervention in agriculture financing—especially fertilizer and mechanization subsidies—has supported food system stability and helped cushion inflationary pressures.

Furthermore, through rigorous forecasting and a newly instituted fiscal risk framework, he has improved variance analysis and scenario planning within the Budget Office, yielding greater predictability in revenue and expenditure trends. The office now operates with a 90% accuracy rate in key fiscal indicators—an unprecedented achievement.

Human Capital and Institutional Resilience

Tanimu has not only focused on numbers and institutions but also on the people behind them. He introduced performance-based incentives, inter-agency technical secondments, and continuous professional development for staff, fostering a culture of excellence and cross-functional collaboration. The integration of skilled professionals from planning, finance, and audit backgrounds into the Budget Office ecosystem has expanded its capacity and operational depth.

Recognizing the centrality of ICT, he oversaw the digitization of budget workflows, internal audit processes, and stakeholder dashboards. These tools have improved transparency, reduced leakages, and elevated the Office’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.

Stakeholder Engagement and Development Partnerships

Tanimu’s quiet diplomacy and policy clarity have reenergized Nigeria’s engagement with international development partners. His efforts have unlocked greater programmatic funding from multilateral partners like the World Bank, AfDB, and bilateral agencies, anchored on fiscal responsibility, verifiable outcomes, and sectoral alignment.

He has also deepened National Assembly engagement, emphasizing their constitutional role in appropriation and oversight while building trust through timely submissions, data transparency, and joint project inspections. His strategic communication with state governments has improved vertical coordination, enabling better implementation of federally funded capital projects at the subnational level.

Conclusion: A Fiscal Steward for a New Era

In an age of constrained revenues, complex global headwinds, and rising citizen demands, Tanimu Yakubu has restored strategic foresight, fiscal discipline, and operational integrity to Nigeria’s budgeting process. His leadership stands as a model for technocratic excellence—anchored in accountability, focused on delivery, and aligned with national priorities.

In celebrating his stewardship, we celebrate more than a public servant—we celebrate a renewed national commitment to fiscal responsibility, economic transformation, and democratic development.

Arewa Youths: Zamfara Has Regressed by Six Years Under Dauda Lawal

A Northern youth advocacy group has raised the alarm over what it describes as the sharp decline in governance and development under Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, accusing the administration of reversing the modest gains recorded in the last administration.

In a statement issued in Gusau on Sunday, the Arewa Youths for Democracy and Development (AYDD) said Zamfara is “far worse off today than it was before Lawal assumed office” in May 2023.

The group said the current administration has failed across key sectors, including security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

Comrade Ibrahim Danladi Gwaska, president of the group, said the optimism that trailed Lawal’s emergence has quickly turned into disillusionment.

“Zamfara has effectively gone six years backward under Governor Dauda Lawal. What we see is not governance, but a tragic abdication of responsibility. There is no vision, no urgency, no coordination,” Gwaska said.

According to him, the administration’s most glaring failure is in its inability to improve the state’s worsening security crisis.

Gwaska noted that bandits continue to attack communities in Maru, Zurmi, Anka, Shinkafi and parts of Tsafe with little or no response from the government.

“Governor Lawal promised to end the bloodshed, but our people are still being killed, kidnapped and displaced daily. There is no clear strategy. Instead, the government has retreated into silence while rural Zamfara burns,” he said.

The group also criticised the deteriorating state of education, lamenting that basic infrastructure across public schools has collapsed while students and teachers are left in appalling conditions.

“Primary and secondary schools across Bakura and Bungudu lack chairs, roofs and even chalk. Teachers are unpaid, and children sit on bare floors. Yet the government goes about giving speeches at international conferences on education,” Gwaska said.

He also accused the Lawal administration of allowing the state’s healthcare system to rot, saying general hospitals and rural clinics lack drugs, electricity, and qualified personnel.

“There are hospitals where women in labour are told to bring their own water and fuel. The health system has collapsed, but the governor prefers to fly abroad for check-ups. That is an insult to the poor people he swore to protect,” Gwaska said.

The Arewa group further expressed disappointment over the lack of any meaningful youth empowerment initiatives, despite the governor’s campaign promises to create jobs and innovation hubs.

“There is no programme in place for youth training, no small business support scheme, and no employment drive. Unemployment and substance abuse are increasing, yet the government appears indifferent,” Gwaska stated.

He added that the government’s poor handling of infrastructure projects has worsened the people’s suffering, citing the abandonment of key roads projects.

“These are not new roads. The previous government started them. But instead of completing them, this administration abandoned them. Now, farmers and traders are cut off, and transportation costs have doubled,” he said.

The group also questioned the transparency of the Lawal government, alleging a lack of openness in budget implementation, security spending, and contract awards.

“Governor Lawal came into office branding himself as a World Bank technocrat who would fix Zamfara’s finances. But nothing has changed. Internally generated revenue is still low, and contracts are awarded without public scrutiny,” Gwaska said.

AYDD called on the Zamfara State House of Assembly, traditional rulers and civil society organisations to intervene and demand accountability.

“Zamfara people are not asking for miracles. We just want a government that listens, acts, and delivers. If Governor Lawal cannot do the job, he should admit it. This state cannot afford another lost decade,” Gwaska warned.

The group said it would soon launch a grassroots mobilisation campaign across Zamfara to raise civic awareness and build a broad-based movement aimed at voting Governor Lawal out of office in the 2027 elections.

North Central Youths Mobilise 100-Man Delegation to Lobby Akpabio for Sani Musa’s Emergence as APC National Chairman

A coalition of youth groups drawn from over 1,000 All Progressives Congress (APC) support organisations in Nigeria’s North Central region has announced plans to dispatch a 100-man delegation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urging him to back Senator Mohammed Sani Musa for the position of APC National Chairman.

The decision was reached during an emergency meeting held in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, on Thursday, where the youth leaders gathered to discuss the political future of the North Central geopolitical zone and the need for strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and signed by Comrade Dan Okwa, the convener of the North Central APC Youth Vanguard, the groups reaffirmed their commitment to the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and declared that delivering on that objective would require a strong, pragmatic, and politically astute party leadership.

“We believe that the North Central must not only be heard but must be seen at the table of power. As we prepare for 2027, it is imperative that we reorganise our internal political architecture and present one of our most credible and tested hands to lead the APC,” the group said.

According to the coalition, Senator Sani Musa, who currently represents Niger East in the National Assembly and chairs the Senate Committee on Finance, has over the years demonstrated the type of loyalty, foresight, and grassroots understanding necessary to stabilise and reposition the ruling party for electoral success.

“He is a man who understands the inner workings of the APC, appreciates its vision, and has shown unwavering commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Okwa added.

“This is why we are sending a 100-man delegation to visit the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, within the week, to present our case and solicit his support for this important mission.”

While the youth coalition acknowledged that other prominent aspirants from the North Central, including former Nasarawa governor Senator Tanko Al-Makura, have shown interest in leading the party, it said Sani Musa represents a generational bridge who combines experience with a forward-looking perspective.

“We respect all aspirants, especially Senator Al-Makura, who is a respected elder and party builder. But we strongly believe that at this critical point in our national life, the APC needs a younger, dynamic, and unifying figure who can galvanise the party base, particularly the youth. That person is Senator Sani Musa,” the communiqué stated.

The groups also used the opportunity to call on elders and political stakeholders within the APC, especially from the North Central region, to prevail on Senator Sani Musa to officially declare interest in the national chairmanship position and lead the effort to consolidate the region’s influence in national politics.

According to Okwa, the delegation to Akpabio will present a detailed petition containing resolutions from the youth summit and a breakdown of the strategic role the North Central zone has played in sustaining the APC since its inception.

“From massive voter mobilisation to defending the party during difficult times, the North Central has always stood by the APC. We believe now is the time for the party to reward loyalty and capacity,” he said.

The youth coalition also vowed to intensify mobilisation across the North Central states and the FCT ahead of the APC National Convention, while reiterating that their campaign is not just about regional inclusion, but about strengthening party discipline, rebuilding trust, and preparing the APC for future victories.

“We will engage key leaders across the zones, not just in the North Central. This is about the future of the APC, and we believe Senator Sani Musa is the man to lead us into that future,” Okwa concluded.

The delegation is expected to meet with Senate President Akpabio later this week in Abuja.

Standing with Strength: Balancing Marriage, Motherhood, Career, and Ministry

Behind every impactful woman is a story of grace, strength, and intentional living—and Pastor Mrs. Yemisi Wole-Akinleye embodies this truth fully. As a wife to Mr. Wole Akinleye, the former Deputy Managing Director of Wema Bank and a respected high-net-worth individual, she has journeyed through life not just in partnership, but in full expression of her God-given identity and purpose.

For over two decades, Pastor Yemisi has worn many hats: wife, mother, health professional, minister, humanitarian, and public speaker. But none of these roles have diminished the other. Instead, each has added depth, refinement, and resilience to her character.

A Partnership Rooted in Respect and Purpose

Standing alongside a highly accomplished husband could easily eclipse one's own light, but not in this case. “I am not in his shadow,” she says with grace. “I stand beside him—anchored in purpose, supported by love, and strengthened by partnership.”
Their marriage has been one of mutual growth, encouragement, and shared vision. Her husband’s unwavering support—spiritually, emotionally, and financially—was instrumental, especially when she returned to school to earn a second degree in nursing while raising three children. "It was tough, but he believed in me—and I believed in God's grace,” she recalls.

Balancing Motherhood and Ministry
Being a mother has never been a limitation, but a driving force. Pastor Yemisi’s children have seen her pray, build, serve, and grow—and they have become her biggest cheerleaders. “There were times when I had to pause certain dreams to nurture them. But every season mattered. And now they encourage me to revisit those dreams,” she says.

Her ministry, Wakati Isegun (Hour of Victory), is a global platform for spiritual revival, birthed after years of nurturing divine instruction in the quiet place. Her humanitarian work through VJA Foundation continues to touch lives across communities, yet she remains present, loving, and deeply committed at home.

Grace to Thrive in Every Role
How does she do it all? Her answer is simple but profound: “Grace. And structure.” She has built her life around godly priorities, staying organized, and leaning heavily on the Holy Spirit for strength and strategy.

“I don’t believe in losing one part of yourself to keep another alive,” she adds. “God has equipped us to flourish in every sphere He calls us to. And if He called me to all of this, He has given me the capacity to thrive.”

A Message to Every Woman
To women trying to find balance in their own lives, Pastor Yemisi says: “Never forget who you are in Christ. Honor your responsibilities, but don’t bury your dreams. Your purpose isn’t a competition with your roles—it is a divine integration of them. You can build your home and still build impact that echoes in eternity.”
Indeed, her story is proof that with God, the right support system, and relentless grace, a woman can fulfill every divine assignment—at home and in the world.

Culture"Ijebuland Royal Houses Unite Against Impostors Amid Grief: A Call For Integrity by AmeboFeeds(op): 3:54pm On Jul 16, 2025
"Ijebuland Royal Houses Unite Against Impostors Amid Grief: A Call for Integrity in Monarchic Succession"

In a powerful display of unity and commitment to tradition, the coalition of the Heads and noble members of the four Ruling Houses of Ijebuland has publicly condemned a group of impostors claiming to represent the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. This declaration comes in the wake of the recent passing of HRM Oba (Dr) Sikiru Olukayode Adetona GCON, a revered monarch whose death has left a profound impact on the community.

The rogue group, led by Dr. Adekunle Hassan, has been accused of peddling fraudulent claims regarding the royal lineage and attempting to undermine the legitimacy of Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, the recognized Head of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. In their statement, the coalition expressed alarm at the audacity of what they termed "Royal ancestry and Obaship speculators," who have stirred controversy during a period of mourning.

Among the prominent figures denouncing these claims are Prince Toheeb Alaga Anikinaiya, Head of the Oba Anikinaiya Ruling House; HRH Oba Tajudeen Omotayo, Head of the Fidipote Ruling House; and Prince Adeleke Adeyemi, Secretary of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. Together with the coalition, they categorically reject any assertion that Dr. Hassan or his associates hold any official position within the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

"This is a blatant attempt to distort our rich heritage for personal gain," stated the coalition in a joint statement. "We want the public to know that true royalty is rooted in genuine lineage, not fabricated by outsiders."

The coalition’s public rebuke not only targets the impostors but also addresses the broader implications of their actions. They have issued a stern 48-hour ultimatum to Dr. Hassan and his accomplice, Lateef Owoyemi, demanding an immediate cessation of their self-styled claims to princely status and affiliation with the Ijebu Royal House, warning of potential legal action should they refuse to comply.

Critically, the timing of these claims has raised eyebrows, with the coalition expressing concern that the drama is being exploited amid the mourning period for the late Awujale. This has led to accusations that the impostors are driven by ambition and opportunism rather than a genuine respect for Ijebu traditions.

The coalition emphasized their dedication to ensuring that the transition period proceeds smoothly and respectfully. They reaffirmed their unwavering support for HRH Oba R.A Adesanya, the Olisa of Ijebu Ode—the next in line for the throne—highlighting that any Otunbas, despite their claims of royal descent, remain under the jurisdiction of their respective Ruling Houses and should not presume to speak beyond their limited authority.

In a particularly poignant remark, the coalition declared: "Outsiders cannot pick people from the street and present them as princes. We, the four Ruling Houses of the Awujale, know ourselves." This statement reinforces the vital importance of authenticity and integrity in the practices surrounding leadership succession.

As Ijebuland stands at a crossroads, the coalition has urged the local media and the public to verify information through official channels, stressing the importance of safeguarding their royal heritage from misrepresentation. They believe that the historical, cultural, and traditional values that underpin royalty in Ijebuland should never be compromised.

The coalition also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Nigerian President, the Governor of Ogun State, and the Chairman of the Ijebu Ode Local Government Area Council for their continued support during this challenging period. They remain committed to a peaceful and structured transition that honors the profound legacy of their late monarch and paves the way for a successor worthy of the esteemed title of Awujale.

As the Ijebu community seeks the right candidate to lead them forward, it is clear that they remain vigilant against any attempts to exploit their cherished traditions. In a world where authenticity is sometimes overshadowed by speculation and ambition, the Ruling Houses of Ijebuland stand firm, upholding the dignity and honor of their royal legacy.

Senator Sani Musa: The Most Distinguished Choice to Lead the APC in a Time of Political Transformation

By Abutu Andrew

As Nigeria stands at a critical juncture in its democratic journey, the All Progressives Congress (APC) must look inward and forward toward a leadership that understands both the weight of history and the promise of the future. In these times of political recalibration, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, CON, emerges not just as a reluctant contender but as the most distinguished choice to lead the APC into its next chapter of relevance and renewal.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, a seasoned political strategist and master of timing, has always shown an uncanny ability to identify talent that delivers results. He knows not only when to act but also who to trust when the stakes are highest. In Senator Sani Musa, he will find a leader cut from that rare cloth of competence, character, and deep-rooted party loyalty.

*A Bridge Between Generations*

What makes Senator Sani Musa exceptional is his unique ability to resonate across political generations. He possesses a rare blend of institutional memory and innovative thinking a man with deep respect for the party elders, yet a clear vision for engaging Nigeria’s young, dynamic political base.

His tenacity, vibrancy, and organizational discipline are not just admirable they are necessary. At a time when public confidence in political parties is wavering, Sani Musa brings the strength of substance over slogans. His leadership would not be about preserving the status quo but disrupting it for the better—ushering in a new era of party dynamism, internal democracy, and strategic thinking.

*A Serious Mind for Serious Times*

In every assignment he undertakes, Senator Sani Musa is known for his seriousness of purpose, strategic focus, and unwavering commitment to results. His approach to leadership is grounded in deep preparation, sincere engagement, and visible performance.

One clear testament to his capacity is his role in the passage of Nigeria’s landmark Tax Reform Bills. At a time when economic restructuring was urgent but politically delicate, he rose to the occasion as the Chairman of the Senate Committee tasked with reviewing and passing these critical bills. Despite the pushback and skepticism from a host of doubting Thomases, Senator Musa led with vigor, clarity, and honesty.

He did not merely preside over legislative sessions; he led the Conference Committee with skillful negotiation, intellectual depth, and rare diplomatic poise building consensus where division had threatened progress. His work ensured that the tax reforms were not just passed, but owned by stakeholders and understood by the public, making them one of the most impactful pieces of legislation in recent years.

This commitment to national interest and delivery reflects the kind of leadership the APC needs at this transformational moment.

*The Right Leader for the Right Time*

The APC does not need a figurehead. It needs a strategic driver one with the “oil to lubricate his elbows,” ready to roll up his sleeves and reposition the party for governance excellence and electoral dominance. Senator Sani Musa is that leader.

He brings competence, humility, and tactical intelligence. His blend of legislative achievement, political diplomacy, and generational appeal makes him uniquely suited to unite the APC across regional, ideological, and generational lines.

This is not a time to add to the burden of inertia. It is not a time to recycle comfort-zone leadership that maintains a fragile status quo. The APC deserves and Nigeria demands a chairman who can chart a bold course building on past gains while correcting missteps. For Sani Musa is not a personal choice but a call for patriotism and national duty.

*Conclusion: A Call For Strategic Opportunity for Renewal*

Lagos LG Election: Youth Party Appreciate Voters, Alleges Intimidation, Electoral Fraud

The Youth Party has strongly condemned the conduct of the Lagos State Local Government Elections held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, describing the exercise as “shambolic” and “blatantly rigged” in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a press statement issued on Sunday and signed by Francisco Doregos, Chair of the Youth Party’s Lagos Chapter, the party expressed deep appreciation to its supporters across the state while accusing the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) of facilitating electoral malpractice and voter suppression.

“Expectedly, the Lagos State Local Government Elections were shambolic and blatantly rigged against our candidates with reckless and shameless abandon,” the statement read.

The party alleged that from inception, LASIEC was composed to favour the APC, citing the appointment of “openly competitive APC politicians” as commissioners.

It also accused the electoral body of failing to give proper notice for the election, omitting legal requirements such as the display of the voters register, and using state institutions like the Department of State Services (DSS) to intimidate its candidates under the guise of “profiling.”

On Election Day, the party claimed, LASIEC sanctioned “official rigging” by allowing individuals without voter cards to cast their ballots while ignoring the deployment of standard voting technology such as card readers and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

“In Ward B of Lagos Island Local Government, ballot stuffing and multiple thumb-printing were the order of the day. In Eti Osa, voting materials were either not delivered or arrived late,” the party alleged, insisting that actual voter turnout was below 5%, despite LASIEC’s announcement of figures indicating 20–30% participation.

Despite these irregularities, the Youth Party claimed it emerged as the most preferred choice in the areas where its candidates ran, outperforming other opposition parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Alliance (AA), and (ZLP).

The party said it is currently reviewing the situation and will take a “considered decision” on how to respond to the “rigged outcome.”

“We were obviously the preferred party without rigging,” the statement said. “Once again, we thank you for your exceptional support. Let’s ‘Shape the Future’ together.”

ISAGA COMMUNITY: HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVISTS, LAWYERS COMMEND SUCCESSFUL EXECUTION OF LONG-AWAITED COURT JUDGMENT AFTER 23 YEARS

Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo

In a significant development for the Isaga community in the Owode Yewa area of Ogun State, human rights activists and legal experts have expressed their satisfaction with the peaceful and successful execution of a court possession order that has been pending for over two decades. The execution, which took place recently, has been hailed as a triumph of the rule of law in Nigeria.

James Olasina, the Coordinator of the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice, alongside eminent lawyer Babatunde Shaji, commended the police and other security agencies for their effective role in carrying out the court order. Their praise follows a lengthy legal battle involving a land dispute that has seen numerous court appearances and judgments over the past 23 years.

The recent execution pertains to a Possession Order from the Ogun State High Court, stemming from a ruling by Honourable Justice AA Shobayo in the case of Alhaji Atobatele and nine others against Mukaila Oguntade, Sheriff of the High Court of Justice, Deputy Sheriff of the High Court of Justice, Ilaro, and the Commissioner of Justice, Ogun State (Suit No M/01/2024). Alhaji Ajibade and other claimants had challenged an earlier ruling affirming Mukaila Oguntade as the rightful owner of a substantial parcel of land within the Isaga community.

This prolonged dispute dates back to a 2011 High Court decision by Justice O Onafowokan, which recognized Bashiru Oguntade, the late father of Mukaila Oguntade, as the legitimate owner of the contested land. Although the ruling was upheld by the Ibadan Division of the Court of Appeal, the rightful owners faced significant obstacles in executing their possession order, as individuals opposed to the judgment resorted to violence and legal maneuvering to remain on the land.

Olasina expressed his appreciation for the police's action in enforcing the court order after years of delays and defiance from those resisting the judgment. "In the past, some individuals had prevented the execution of the Possession Taken Order from the competent court, and the police refrained from taking action against them for contempt of court," he stated. "It is commendable that the police have now intervened to protect the rights of the judgment creditors."

Babatunde Shaji also emphasized the importance of the rule of law, highlighting the responsibilities of the police in upholding court orders. He noted, "After the latest judgment, certain third parties attempted to challenge the ruling in the High Court, seeking to set it aside, but their requests were denied. Consequently, the claimants proceeded with executing the order."

Despite the court's clear ruling, Shaji pointed out that some occupants of the land were reluctant to vacate, defying the legal mandate. He reiterated that adherence to court orders is mandatory and that the state has the authority to enforce such mandates through law enforcement. "When a competent court issues an order, it is binding. Those who disobey it risk facing the consequences enforced by state authorities," he warned.

Both Olasina and Shaji called for ongoing protection of the rule of law and encouraged the residents and defendants to seek amicable solutions through negotiation with the claimants, suggesting that compromise may be possible if all parties are willing to engage constructively.

This recent execution of a court order marks a critical step toward reinforcing legal integrity in Ogun State and could serve as a precedent for addressing similar long-standing disputes in Nigeria. The collaborative efforts of human rights activists, legal practitioners, and law enforcement highlight a commitment to ensuring justice and protecting citizens' rights in the face of protracted legal battles.
