Nasarawa Assembly declares member’s seat vacant for dumping APC Daily Nigerian The Nasarawa House of Assembly, on Wednesday declared the seat of a member representing Wamba constituency, Makpa Malla, vacant for defecting from the All Progressives Congress, APC. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mr Malla’s letter of defection was read by the Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, during plenary in Lafia. The speaker, after reading the letter, called for investigation into the matter before the House could take any decision. The House Majority Leader, Tanko Tunga, thereafter, moved a motion that Mr Malla’s seat be declared vacant, which was received with voice votes from other members. After reading the letter to the House, the Speaker said, “My colleagues, this letter is from Hon. Makpa Malla, member representing Wamba constituency that he is defecting from the APC. “Makpa cited alleged division in the APC, emergence of R-APC and APC leadership as reasons for his defection. “He, however, did not mention the party Malla is defecting to. “I wanted us to investigate the matter based on the reasons he gave for his defection, but with the voice votes put on all the members, my hands are tight. “I hereby declare his seat vacant,” he said. The speaker directed the clerk to House to communicate the development officially to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Mr Tunga, while moving the motion seeking to declare the member’s seat vacant, cited various sections of the constitution supporting the action of the assembly. He maintained that the member also failed to state the party he was defecting to, hence the need to declare his seat vacant. Daniel Ogazi, the Deputy Majority leader of the House seconded the motion. Mr Adesina said this on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television ‘s breakfast show Sunrise Daily . Although he believes that, ultimately, her return is up to God, Mr Adesina said the Federal Government is working hard to ensure she is rescued. “When will she be back? That question can only be answered by God, but I believe that God is interested in that young girl,” he said. “The Government is working on and at it, and we believe she will be back”. His comments are in reaction to an audio recording of Leah obtained exclusively and published by online news organisation TheCable on Monday. READ ALSO: ‘Pity Me’, Leah Sharibu Cries Out From Captivity In the recording, the 15-year-old called on President Muhammadu Buhari to help her regain freedom. She also sought help from her family. Mr Adesina explained that her plea won’t be in vain. “Early in the life of this administration, the President said that whatever it will take to bring back the Chibok girls back he will do including paying . “The President is on record for having said that,” Mr Adesina said. He, however, dismissed claims that Boko Haram was paid for the release of the Dapchi girls. “For the release of Dapchi girls, there were no payments made,” he said. Leah, one of the over 100 schoolgirls abducted in February from the Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi in Yobe State, was kept in captivity by the terrorists reportedly for refusing to renounce Christianity. She was the only Christian among the girls. READ ALSO: DSS Is Investigating Leah Sharibu’s Audio Recording, Says Presidency DSS Investigating Recording A few hours after the recording was published on Monday, the Presidency said it was aware of it and the Department of State Services (DSS) had started an investigating. The National Working Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it has not handed automatic ticket to any Kaduna Senator. Senator Sani is the only APC Senator from Kaduna state following the recent defection of his colleague from Kaduna North, Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi. The party in a statement signed by its Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Mohammed Sani Ibrahim said, the rumour that automatic ticket has been given to a Senator should be disregarded. According to Ibrahim, “the National Working Committee of the APC has not handed over an automatic ticket to any senator in Kaduna State.” He added that, automatic ticket does not apply in the party’s constitution and that whoever is interested in contesting has to slug it out at the primaries. According to him, “As a compatriot, I feel deeply disturbed by the recent developments in our great party, especially the unfounded rumours regarding candidates for the various offices, as we approach the 2019 general elections. “More disturbing is the story of the so-called endorsement or automatic tickets that people have been spreading on social media, especially as it relates to Kaduna central and many parts of the Northwest Senatorial District. “For the records and in the interest of our great party’s constitution and its public image, I wish to declare that the party’s constitution is supreme and decisions at the National level is not a one-man show as some people wrongly assumed,” he said. Ibrahim said the issue of automatic tickets can only happen after decisions are reached collectively by the National Working Committee in conjunction with the NEC which is vested with such powers. Read also: 2019: APC raises alarm over fake registration website “It follows logically therefore, that the stories being branded on social media are misleading, in the sense that our party is governed by its constitution and not individual wishes. And that is why we have the National Working Committee and the National Executive Committee. “Let me make it categorically and abundantly clear that the APC will not and could not have given automatic ticket or endorsed any single candidate without recourse to guideline on nomination as stipulated in our party’s constitution. “And right now, no such meeting has taken place yet and no publicity to that effect. The Senate of any senatorial district is not the exclusive preserve for any special favour,” he stated. Source:: http://thenationonlineng.net/automatic-ticket-shehu-sani-apc-nwc/ |

It said, “We are alerting our supporters, members and indeed, the general public to a purported membership registration website of the All Progressives Congress (APC) — apcregistration.com. The website which is trending on social media is unauthorised and a scam.” “Our internal investigation has revealed that the fake website is sponsored by one of the main opposition political parties in its desperate and criminal plot to harvest APC members ahead of the 2019 general elections,” the APC added. The ruling party said it deliberately did not name the political party in question and called on relevant security agencies to urgently investigate the website and its sponsors. It also called on its supporters and members to take advantage of the ongoing continuous nationwide membership registration exercise in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The APC explained that the exercise would include both fresh registration and revalidation of existing membership for the purposes of issuance of the permanent membership cards. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Sadique Abubakar, has appealed to the manufacturers of the A-29 Super Tucano Attack Aircraft, to expedite action on its delivery to Nigeria. Mr Abubakar said this when Taco Gilbert, the Senior Vice – President of Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), manufacturer of the aircraft, visited him in Abuja. The Air Force chief said a quick delivery of the aircraft would enhance Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) operational capability for the swift conclusion of the counterinsurgency operations in the North- east. He commended the visiting delegation which included officials from the Office of Security Cooperation of the United States Embassy in Nigeria. Mr Abubakar expressed his delight at the U.S. government’s support for the fight against insurgency with the signing of the contract to sell the Super Tucano Aircraft to Nigeria. The air chief, however, noted that the major concern of the NAF was the time frame for delivery of the aircraft. He expressed confidence that the counterinsurgency operations in the North- east could be executed more effectively, if the aircraft like the Super Tucano could be made available to the NAF in good time. He noted that the light attack aircraft with its long range, precision munitions as well as day and night capability would boost counterinsurgency operations in the affected area. He urged the company to expedite production so that at least two of the aircraft would be available to Nigeria within an earlier timeframe, to boost counterinsurgency operations. Mr Gilbert assured the CAS of the company’s determination to deliver quality aircraft capable of providing the needed impetus for NAF air operations. He expressed the commitment of the company to provide adequate training for NAF’s air and ground crew to ensure effective and efficient operation of the aircraft. He said “the company looks forward to continued collaboration with NAF towards building a new air capability to address the security challenges in the country”. Air Force’s (NAF) spokesman, Ibikunle Daramola, who issued a statement encapsulating discussions at the meeting said one of the highlights was the presentation of a model of the Super Tucano aircraft to the CAS. The Nigerian government in February, 2018 placed an order for 12 Super Tucano aircraft at a cost of $496million. Delivery date is 2020. The planes will be delivered along with Paveway 11 guided bombs, laser-guided rockets and infrared sensors. The details were published late August last year in the US Federal Register, according to a report by the website: www.defenceweb.co.za. The US Defence Security Cooperation Agency on August 3, 2017 announced the Foreign Military Sale of 12 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, along with weapons, spares and training, to Nigeria in a contract that could be worth $593 million. The US Congress was notified on August 2, 2017. The Federal Register revealed Nigeria has requested Paveway II and Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) laser-guidance kits and ammunition. It listed these items as “major defence equipment” valued at $29 million, while the “other” component of the deal, for the Super Tucanos, sensors, training and support, is valued at $564 million. The weapons and ammunition include 100 GBU-12 (500 lb) Paveway II Tailkits; 100 GBU-58 (250 lb) Paveway II Tailkits; 400 Laser Guided Rockets including Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) rounds; 2000 MK-81 (250 lb) bombs; 5000 2.75 inch (70 mm) Hydra 70 unguided rockets; 1000 2.75 inch Hydra 70 unguided rockets (practice); and 20000 rounds of .50 calibre machine gun ammunition. The APKWS is a low cost semi-active laser guidance kit developed by BAE Systems, which is added to unguided 70 mm rockets, turning them into precision strike weapons. Bandits threaten to attack 4 Sokoto villages Daily Nigerian Suspected armed bandits have allegedly threatened to launch attack on four Sokoto villages, neighbouring Zamfara State, DAILY NIGERIAN reports. Villagers who spoke to our reporter on Saturday night said the bandits sent letters to villages of Ruwan Tsamiya and Kursa in Gandi district of Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State. According to the local sources, the bandits also sent warning messages to villages of Kaiwar Dawa and Malela in the same district. “The bandits particularly demanded huge amount of money from Alhaji Mani Shehu, a rich farmer in Ruwan Tsamiya,” a resident of the village, Mallam Zaidi, told DAILY NIGERIAN. “The villagers are now planning to raise money for the bandits to avoid attack. We can’t call the bandits’ bluff because we saw what happened to other villages.” A lecturer at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Mansur Buhari, also told DAILY NIGERIAN that he received calls on Saturday night from one of the villagers, lamenting about the bandits’ demands. But spokesperson for Sokoto Police Command, Cordelia Nwawe, refuted the villagers claim, saying the police had not received any report on the matter. Ms Nwawe noted that the area is “well secure with massive deployment of policemen.” “As I speak to you, there are two mobile police units in the Gandi general area, hundreds of policemen are patrolling the area. “Ask them to report the matter to police not journalists so that we take action. If they feel threatened, they should not hesitate to go to the IDP camp and settle for some time,” she added. Source:: https://dailynigerian.com/bandits-threaten-to-attack-4-sokoto-villages/ |

Terrifying confessions of an ex-football player: Incest, the sacrifice of his mother... R emembered for his time in Ligue 1 (FC Nantes, FC Gueugnon or Stade de Reims ), Shiva N'Zigou has made news again through a viral video in which he tells a heartrending story of some of the most difficult moments during his football career: from manipulating his birth certificate, to practicing incest and being an 'accomplice' of his mother's sacrifice for a spiritual rite. N'Zigou confesses in a all his sins during a five-minute 'ceremony' in an evangelical church in his country. "My mother is dead and I want to confess that she was sacrificed," he said in images broadcast on Christian television channel TV2Vie . "I signed many contracts and my father wanted all the money for him, he told me he was going to kill my mother. "I refused, but he did it in order that his spirit helped me to advance in my football career." If that revelation weren't shocking enough, more was to follow. "When I was younger, I twice had sex with my aunt," he continued. "I also did it with my sister and then I had sex with a man." Finally, N'Zigou acknowledged that he took off five years off of his true age at the beginning of his career. He was known as the youngest player to score in an African Cup, at 16 years old, but in reality he was 21. "I'm five years older," he added. "I lied about my age when we went to France."
