Car TalkCargo Tracking Notes For Nigeria - New Regulations by AMERICANEX(op): 4:04pm On Jan 06, 2010
Discussions are taking place here in the States about the enforcement of Cargo Tracking notes. This sounds new for Nigeria. All cargo due into Nigeria (almost immediately) will be required to have a cargo tracking note - whether its personal effects or autos.
We are receiving notices that all cargo entering into Nigeria will now need a mandatory cargo tracking note. What has the community heard - and will this alleviate the need for any Form M's.

Lets hear what the deal is (please lets limit speculation)

ACL - PORT TO PORT Bare Bones = $3,700.00

w 4 sedans from my warehouse = 4750.00

I know he's in Bayonne,

What's the congestion like right now at the public terminal in Tin Can (Have you heard recently?)?
AutosRe: Happy New Year From The East Coast Of The United States by AMERICANEX(op): 10:30pm On Dec 30, 2009
Where is he now?

I do not know what relationship he has with ACL. But I do know that he used to get all his bookings from us.
No bad blood - just be careful.

He probably won't eat tonight smiley

This is John

We won't work at that rate - we are a company that was here before Naildo started and will be here when he's gone.

I heard he is soliciting new business in Nigeria personally. Probably trying to collect on a debt (LOL)
AutosRe: Happy New Year From The East Coast Of The United States by AMERICANEX(op): 10:12pm On Dec 30, 2009
$2,800 is the bare bones current rate we are offering for a PORT To PORT ZIM move.

you must do the trucking and loading.

If I load at my place in New Jersey - 4 smaller sedans (w/ wood ramps) = $3,850.00 all in
No hanging - we aren't the swinging type - we get 95% of our business repeat and word of mouth.

ACL - PORT TO PORT Bare Bones = $3,700.00

w 4 sedans from my warehouse = 4750.00

Let us know if your interested.

I would like to hear a little more about the price increases on clearing in Nigeria at ACL / Grimaldi's terminal.
It hasn't approached price gouging has it ?

we can always combine both.

We can do ro/ro starting at 1075.00 Port to Port - with ACL. From EC USA.

Containers - vary depending on loading needed or if it is just needed as a port to port. Many loaders of ours have special needs to consider - we do our best to accomodate.

We have at times discusssed what mode of transport works the best. Also to consider is what steamship line you chose. This time of year ACL / GRIMALDI is the best bet for getting in and out of Tin Can quickly.
Other servcies are cheaper - but if you need speed they are the best this time of year. Usually nothing unexpected with them.

Container or R/Ro - feel fee to email us for rates. With all the lines we handle.

my 2 cents - just like the US markets - a good / well written negative article can shake out a stock exchange and many unscrupulous bankers / investors a boat load of money on the way down by shorting the market. If well played it can bring fortune on the way down and then bounce and double up.
I am sure that he will be kept in tact by the government anyway if he is as big as everyone claims.
I am sure some hedge funds will make a killing if well timed bad news is leaked.
Wish I knew more.
AutosRe: Cost Of Car Shipment To Nigeria? by AMERICANEX(m): 9:02pm On Jul 24, 2009
How long it takes to get a vehicle to Lagos depends basically on the steamship line that you use.

Example - for Ro/Ro : check what the last day to drop off the vehicle in Baltimore Maryland is for making the sailing of a targeted vessel. Right now both ACL and Hoegh have vessles coming through about every 2 weeks. So even if you miss the first one - You WILL ride on the second one provided you have no problems with US customs and your paperwork is in order. These vessels get the RO/RO cargo to Lagos in approx. 16 to 20 days on the water. ACL is the fastest and easiest to work with right now as they have no issues with congestion. It seems that ACL recognized their own need for owning their own property to off load at. So they have no delays upon arrrival. This is important to know when sailing into peak season (October through January).

For Containers the same hold true the below each have a sailing once a week :
Maersk 35 days on the water (to Tin Can)
ZIM 45 days on the water
Delmas 35 days on the water
MSC 30-35 days on the water
all use the public terminal in Lagos - which is always subjetc to congestion issues. so be careful with your timing.
Currently - ZIM is the cheapest and because of the difficult exchange rate issues - many are chossing them.
ACL is sailing only once a month to Tin Can - but they are the fastest on the water and have no congestion * but they are also the priciest right now.

Be careful how you pick your poison - be certain that you are using a freight shipping company from the USA that will tell you the truth not just tell you what you want to hear.

Respectfully,
John at American Export Lines

20 ft cntrs to Tin can start as low as 2700.00

Transit times are as follows : cheapest cost = longest transit time usually +40/45 days
Most expensive we offer direct service US East Coast direct to Tin Can = 18 days on the water (ACL/ Grimaldi).
**But that only sails once a month and costs approx. $4,700.00 to TinCan for 4 vehicles all in. **

Keep us in mind.
Also be aware that ACL / GRIMALDI ( the direct service) is the only servcie that doesn't experience congestion. They will be a key player in this fall season as congestion builds.
AutosRe: Cost Of Car Shipment To Nigeria? by AMERICANEX(m): 6:20pm On Jul 06, 2009
Ro / Ro
cost for standard sized sedan to Tin Can $1,125.00 all in from East Coast United States terminals.
SUV's over 650 cft. = 1475.00 all in from East Coast United States terminals.

Containers with vehicles : start as low as $3950.00 "all in loaded" from East Coast United States American Export Lines location in Newark NJ (Thats up to 4 vehicles loaded in a 40' cntr)

For Mac Trucks we can discuss Flat Rack work - 2 Mac Tractor heads on a flat rack.

but if these are DUMP Body trucks - I woudl suggest against "cutting the bodies" as they will never be the same.

Send your Mac Tipper photo's and dimensions to JSTROZYK@AELSHIPPING.COM and I'll see what kind of plan we can put together.

I appreciate the information. I have solicited "blindly" into his company with no results. Currently our business has already picked up seasonal steam heading into the fall (shipping vehicles into West Africa) so I have not been able to spend proper due diligence in my follow through.

You know the old adage " a bird in hand is better than 2 in the bush "

I need to concentrate on our faithful people and if things get a little slower I will follow up again trying to contact his companies.

Thanks again

Message to all reading this board:

feel free to contact American Export Lines as this season progresses.

Each of the major steamship lines is competing not to loose their volume heading into this fall season.
We have been solicited recently by Maersk and MSC to bring our business "back" to them. This means lower prices in the industry.

Price wars among these suppliers = better consumer deals.

Keep us in mind.

I can not speak for the West Coast Office of American Export Lines. But I can tell you that Ali A., (the East coast owner of AEL has no ill will with anyone. We are a business and we handle ourselves in a business manner.
Look within yourself and decide if Hate is accepted by your faith. Perhaps you should discuss the "Bad" experience you may have had with that West Coast office.
Anyway the East Coast serves primarily West Africa - very little Russian or Western / Eastern Europe destinations. That's not our Niche. We serve Nigeria in particular.
I am sorry on behalf of our company if you had a bad experience in the past - what can AEL do to serve you today?

Inspired - drop me a emial and I can hook you up with Angela (for RO/RO) She's our best for Ro/Ro.

But of your shipping Newer you're better off boxing them up. Ramping into a container as you know is the only way to ensure the best. When everyone else was hanging and making the cash up front - we stayed true to our profession and refused to hang. We have associates that can do it for us, But we prefer not to swing like that.
