The other way to handle it is of course having a 20 ft or 40 ft cntr loaded right in Atlanta. That is a bit of a project - but it makes sense if you have any additional items that you want to load into the cntr. That does include a significant "jump" in price however. You are looking at this type of a move starting at around : $2850.00 port to port (Atlanta area) + trucking (Atlanta area) + loading (Atlanta area) +customs work. _________________ budget = approx. $5850.00 (for a 20 fter - kind of pricey) |
Jacksonville is $1000.00 Port to Port all in. |
Jacksonville is the same rate. If you are going to move anything through Blount Island terminal in Jacksonville - BE SURE that you have signed the back of your title so as to prove ownership. United States customs in Florida loves to reject shipments down there. So who ever is the USPPI (United States Principal Party of Interest) or better known as the owner / shipper from the United States - MUST SIGN THE TITLE CORRECTLY and there can be no unproven liens. All titles that may have a lien listed on them must either be accompanied by a true original lien release (No copies). OR it must be accompanied by a letter from the actual Lien Holder on their letter head - stating no further financial interest in the vehicle with vin # &^*%$#$%*(*)(+%@! Don't put your vehicle into that Florida port improperly. |
We do have service out of Galveston TX : cost : under 650 cft (typical sedan ie. camry / accord / celica) = 1225.00 (all in) port to port over 650 cft (Seqouia / Navigator / Cadillac) = 1575.00 (all in) port to port Commercial Trucks and Construction equipment are priced based on the size of the unit. CTN's are $375.00 per vehicle unless you have more then one unit going on the same vessel to the same receiver. If you send more then one vehicle to the same receiver. It will be $375.00 for the first one then $80.00 per unit there after. |
That might concern a few. We will load starting at $3600.00 all in. (2 vehicles) $3800.00 all in. (3 vehicles) $3850.00 all in (4 vehicles) Great service / Great rate Give us a call or drop us an Email. John Strozyk American Export Lines NJ USA (973) 824-2333 JStrozyk@aelshipping.com |

I didn't realize how late I came to the party - a testament to how slow these other freight forwarders out of the USA have been. We've been busy attending to our client base (30 years) But let us know how we can help you. No matter who you work with - be certain that you discuss this CTN issue as it is still an "X" factor especially in the shipping of a high heavy unit like this. It could make or break the deal. We are ready and willing and able to ship asap when you are. John American Export Lines JStrozyk@aelshipping.com (973) 824-2333 |
Based on those measurements - 3750.00 all in Plus your decision on CTN. This rate is subject to re-measurement at the terminal by the Jacksonville Port. That cost is POL Jacksonville POD Tin can ACL / Grimaldi sailing soonest You need to get it to the port. Must run and drive. YOU teh buyer - must get your name on the back of the title - they are strict. |
Has anyone had shipments detained (as imports) for lack of a CTN # or actual note? We are steady shipping in both Ro/Ro's and containers and many of our customers are opting to forgoe the need of a CTN. What has been the word at the terminals? |
It is not in our companies business model to give out names of any customers that have done business with us prior. I can only think of (1) Nairaland specific member / customer of AEL that has shipped with us - that declared himself known from Nairaland. We have a mainstay customer base of dealers that ship into Tin Can. For the past 30 years we have been a word of mouth business. I only started chatting on Nairaland this past fall. With the economy in both the US and Nigeria slowed there has not been a huge response off this web site, But hopefully that will change. You can check us out on line at : www.shipit.com Our Los Angelos California USA office moniters inquiries from that site. |
Many shipper here in the states feel they will be able to resolve in person (in Tin Can) any cargo difficulties they may have surrounding the authenticity of CTN's or lack of them all together. What's happening at the actual terminals right now? |
No biggie - pass along our name. Thanks |
Damola Ro/Ro means roll on roll off – the vehicle is driven right onto a vessel and inside the hull it is lashed down for the transit. No personal effects can accompany the vehicle in this manner. From Jacksonville Florida or Baltimore Maryland – we can offer to you a port to port rate of $1075.00. That means that you will deliver the vehicle to the port I tell you about in ether Florida or Maryland. There it will be loaded and approx: 18-20 days later it will be driven off the vessel in the West African port of our choice. You will need to get it from NC to one of these ports. I can create the paperwork you need to ship it safely and to get it into your consignee’s hands safely. From my experience – Ro/Ro is the way to go if you only have one vehicle. Security is greatly improved in this manner of shipping. 10 years ago would say containerize it – but things have gotten much better. The other option is to get a 20 ft cntr deliverd to a load site in NC (that YOU would provide). I can arrange the trucking and ocean shipment of this container – advantage is you can stuff it. Container rates (for a 20 fter) Port to port with Trucking from lets say Raleigh would be approx: 3800.00 before you pay for your loading to whomever you hire to load. Ro /Ro right now is sailing twice a month – so if you miss the first vessel in a month – you will get picked up by the next one (like a bus stop) Next Ro/Ro sailing out of Baltimore MD USA the RDR 110 (ACL Grimaldi sails approx: 02/15 out of Balt.) We as a rule - are explaining the same to our customers. The steamship lines are not willing to put anything in writing that will define the "hardships" that some shippers and receivers may face. Everyone is taking a defensive posture and clutching their pockets. We are anticipating that this will become similar to a Form M issue. The Nigerian government has received the credit line form World banks to have the system put into place. (That was the big score). Some shippers will actually honor the requirement lawfully - others - will scoff at it and submit fake CTN numbers. Ultimately - things will get handled on the bottom. It will be another tax - that will never find its way home to the infra - structure development, Give this one 6 months tops. American Export lines takes the stance that all shipments need a CTN - how you get one and from who is your business. We will list the cargo as you tell us too. None of us are new to this industry - handle your affairs as you would (Business as usual) Let the economy continue. If you ship with AEL we will offer to secure an authentic CTN number - Feel free to call or email for the steps to secure one. Or to set up a shipment. |
Until the plant is fully operational and while your needs must be met - Vehicles from the USA are still affordable. With the US dollar down as far as it is, Find a buyer for yourself (there are plenty of them willing to comb the auctions here) - and have a respectable freight forwarding company get your vehicle to you. American Export Lines has been serving the United States to Nigeria auto industry for 30 years. Feel free to contact us for shipping quotes. We are not a purchaser of vehicles. as listed by OTAL: Please note we can confirm that a Cargo Tracking Note [CTN] will be required for all cargo to/from Nigeria effective 11/01/10. According to the Nigerian Port Authority [NPA] there will be no penalties on any cargo arriving without a CTN before 01/03/10. Type A Cargo Tracking Note [CTN] / Bordereau de Suivi de Cargaison [BSC] must be obtained at the port of load [POL]. This is mandated by the Federal Executive Council and imposed by the Nigerian Port Authority [NPA] as part of procedure for cargo security and safety. The CTN/BSC is applicable for import/export cargo. Thus all cargo loaded or unloaded at any Nigerian port has, prior to shipment, to obtain a CTN form. [Click here to view an example.] A CTN/BSC form can be obtained from TPMS Antaser Afrique who are the official managing agents: Transport and Ports Management System Ltd (TPMS) Antaser Afrique International Operation Office Duboisstraat 46 2060 Antwerp Belgium Tel: (32) 382 70 700 Fax: (32) 382 70 600 E-mail: international.ctn.nigeria@tpms-antaser.com Website: www.tpms-antaser.com Click here for a global list of agents. Nigerian Ports Authorities E-mail: infor@nigerianports.org Website: www.nigerianports.org Responsibilities & Cost The responsibility relating to the issuance of the CTN/BSC and all costs is with the shipper. Documentation Requirements You must ensure that the CTN/BSC reference number is indicated clearly on the B/L and on the cargo manifest. If this number is missing you may be liable to a penalty fine. We have been given notice that this CTN mandate goes into effect for all Bills of lading produced / detailed onto any cargo entering into or leaving Nigeria as of March 1st. 2010. This will hurt the smaller end users in this industry - anyone feel like discussing if this money will ever make it back to infrastructure development in the port areas. About (2) years ago I was advised that Maersk is undertaking an advanced rail system development from Ghana to Nigeria. Maybe this will assist the Nigerian rail work needed. Any takers any thoughts on if this money will be used properly? |
Did you read the article in the PUNCH today ? I guess this is no drill - What is normally called a crime can be called law by a politician. |
Robek - are actually experiencing a delay right now ? Because of this CTN ? How is that possible? |
ACL / Grimaldi Maersk Delmas - CMA CGM MSC No one knows exactly how to handle this situation until after the meeting later this week. We will see. Hopefully it will not force the little guys out of business. We cater to guys that do usually less than 12 containers a year. |
We know the steps. But with a customer base that ships primarily used vehicles and personal effects - That same cargo that is exempt for Form 's - This cargo should be exempt for CTN's also. |
As an NVOCC - we have an obligation to protect us customers. Knowledge is the best tool for protection. We are informing every customer of this new obligation. If they decide to abide by it and allow us to assist them in securing a CTN - then great. If they decide they DO NOT need one or supply their own to us - then they must sign off on a waiver. It's a slippery slope - because there are plenty of loaders and freight forwarding companies in the USA that will load and send a container / cargo to port without even discussing this CTN. Then they will be non-responsive to their customers if it gets stuck and or seized in Nigera. Whats the old saying an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. ? That definately applies here until this CTN and it's application are further understood. I would be a big advocate for allowing the Nigerian Customs authority in Nigeria collecting their own Taxes!!! That is what this really is. This screws the little guy who is trying to make a small bit to better his family on both sides of the Atlantic. |
We have received notification from the Nigerian Port Authority of a requirement for a Cargo tracking note by Nigerian authorities. We understand this is effective from a bill of lading date of 11th January, 2010 any body have any insight ? |
For all those that are entering into this industry or may need to expand. I am writing from American Export Lines in Newark NJ USA We ship containers daily from the United States to Nigeria. Let us know f you have any cargo that you need moved. We can probably offer you a competitive rate from anywhere in the United States to Nigeria. We have a few customers that ocassionally ship pumping equipment and filter tanks for aqua culture / fish farming. - so I though there may be a larger demand for USA products. Full cntr loads – 20’s and 40’s Port to Port or with loading. Thanks Let us know if you have any pricing needs John JOHNSTROZYK@AELSHIPPING.COM |
