Currently a ro / ro is $910.00 "all in" port to port. East Coast of United States to Tin Can Terminal - 18 days service.

Although I am intrigued - I really can not become involved further. Good luck.

No self respecting shipping company can afford to have an employee go to DMV.

I have heard of the steamship line or delivery terminal losing a title on very rare occasions. Did the "friend" who helped to purchase this vehicle - send you proof of the vehicle's delivery to the terminal? Sad - but on many occasions the person helping you may be helping himself with a free rental car until he really decides to deliver it to the terminal for shipping. Did you get a copy of the terminal stamped dock receipt from when he delivered the SUV to port? It will indicate the date delivered and if it was delivered with a title. Sometimes people hire individual truckers that "mess up" the job too. It could be a whole host of reasons for your delay, But I would start with getting a copy of the terminal stamped dock receipt.

EVERYONE must handle their affairs with parties that may leech money out of your profit when the cargo arrives.  If anyone is imposing difficult expensive shipping hurdles - ,   why would you open up your rib cage and allow an entire unrelated group feast off your profits.

(If you are shipping to Tin Can) Why pay the Apapa  side too ,  ?   Our customers claim to experience great difficulties shipping into Tin can or PTML when they ship with those companies that usually reside primarily on the Apapa terminal side.

If you ship to Tin Can deal with companies that operate there.   

If you want to pay more than one group of leeches - good luck.

I hope you are correct. I am sick of explaining it and charging my customers for it, makes you feel part of the machine instead of a company assisting its customers.

NEXT ACL GRIMALDI CUT OFF IN BALTIMORE IS LISTED AS 09/20/11 SEPT 20TH. (BUT THAT IS A CONTAINER CUT OFF)

remember that when you go RO/RO you are "in line" like a bus stop.
So if you go in gate now Ro/Ro - you are probably looking at a vessel sailing 2nd week Oct.

Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

You really need to find a consolidation service. That is not something AEL offers as we do not have an office in Nigeria.

From the USA :

1) ** Fill out the attached form 

You will need a person that can be listed as a United States Principle Party of Interest (USPPI *that is someone who is handling the purchase for you in the USA).

We need that person’s (it can be you) information :

As Shipper (See attached form) :

Name
Address
Their foreign passport number / or company tax ID number
(we are no longer allowed to collect Social Security numbers)

We will need your consignee’s name and address.

2) You or your USPPI must secure the title and scan us a copy of same.
3) we will create a dock receipt with a booking # - which will allow you to deliver the vehicle to the port
4) You must hire a driver to deliver the vehicle to the port ( we may be able to assist depending on logistics )
5) We do the rest.

*** To be given a Dock receipt we must have payment in full or a reasonable % down.

Once the vehicle ships and sails – we will either Fed Ex the bills of Lading to you in the USA.
Or for an additional charge DHL them to you over seas.

Current rates :

Up to 650- CFT = 910.00 USD plus CTN cost of an additional 125.00 USD makes it “all in “  (1035.00 USD)
** plus add $75.00 if you need to DHL Overseas to Nigeria.

650 – to 899 = 1260.00 USD plus CTN cost of an additional 125.00 USD makes it “all in “ (1385.00 USD)
** plus add $75.00 if you need to DHL Overseas to Nigeria.

Scan us the Title and completed form or fax it into us at 973-824-8319 attention RO/RO.

Then follow up with a phone call - we can fill in the missing details and answer any questions.

We fill out a form that is supplied to us by AfricaCTN-USA. On that form we "do" declare the Ocean Freight costs.
Then we receive back from AfricaCTN-USA our CTN number specific to the shipment.
The CTN number is required on the ships manifest.
The CTN should be placed on the OBL's (since it is legitimate) .
This company AfricaCTN-USA then sends the true original hard copy CTN certificate to American Export Lines. We match them to our Original bills of lading and they are sent out as a complete package.

One thing to remember is that the NPA then has access to the values of your cargo (in their computer system) as you declared it originally. THAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE CTN. TO TRY AND PREVENT "HAND TO HAND" BUSINESS NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE WORKERS AT NPA and TO NIGERIAN CUSTOMS.

This way the upper political system gets their "fair share - too"

Tough place to do business

So be diligent explaining the value of your cargo to your freight forwarder. The values you declare here in the USA may now be known by the Nigerian Customs / NPA workers because of the CTN.

I APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT.
It has been brought to out attention that the steamship lines ZIM, ACL, Maersk, MSC etc are being held responsible to ensure that one is provided on the ships master manifest (Per unit shipped). In essence the steamship line is the party that is supposed to held responsible and fined if a CTN is not provided. But yes if that number is not on the ships manifest - when the ships manifest is reviewed by the NPA - then the cargo is unlikely to get through. As far as hand to hand business goes CTN or NO CTN the cntrs are still moving through. BUT once again the CTN number must be present on the general manifest.
AND One steamship line is still managing to allow the shipments through without that need being satisfied. Since it is the Steamship Lines business and fines to face and we have not had any complaints - we are following suit and allowing our customers to chose "who" they want to work with.

RO / RO means "roll on roll off "

Vehicles are delivered (pre-booked and prepaid) to the closest ro/ro port. Then they are in "FIFO" order First in First On. Most times there is a 1.5 - 2 week backlog of vehicles which also coincides with the typical tim eit takes to get a title through USCBP (US Customs).

Once your vehicle loads on board it is approx 18 days to Nigeria.

Once the ships loading manifest is closed : the Original Bills of Lading are available to the customers who have vehicles that were loaded.
