Zgyn: Look at this talkative, Kanu scammed Ndigbo? Lol, I know the angle you are arriving at - You're jealous that a man of your age is been adored by almost the entire Igbo nation and respected by non-Igbos.
There was never any Biafra dream until he started agitating. Who took MASSOB seriously? Even Ojukwu was buried in a state funeral, a Nigerian flag was wrapped around his coffin - - HIM "Ojukwu" killed his own version of Biafra
Until kanu came, who took the Igbos seriously? Even our politicians started to indirectly use his influence to bargain on a better deal via restructuring, something your theorist and lilly livered "supposed Igbo leaders" can never ask from their northern masters.
Even at his death, he is still IPOBS leader, and still well respected. To all those splinter Ipob groups that questioned his methods, what have they accomplished?? Life doesn't work at the way we all envisaged her to... even an organized Catalan couldn't secede. Nnamdi Kanu was the best Ndigbo had, until his place was invaded.
Guys check out the thieves, cowards and empty heads he's advocating as Igbo leaders - - Orji Uzor Kalu, like seriously Is Kanu really dead? |

I choose entrepreneurship oh... I can't kill myself. Another thing is some people think that you need money to start something.
I will share 3 cases where you don't need money to start.
1. Find land that someone is willing to sell for say 500k... Look for someone else and sell the land to him for 750k to 1M. (of course with the knowledge of the real seller). You can tweak this in whatever form as it best suit your need.
2. Help someone get buyer for something they wish to sell and take commission. Let me tell you...i decided to share an idea with a friend and he hunted buyer (though we had other failed buyers) but he was able to find a serious buyer eventually and guess what, he will make as much as 3M from the deal on completion. All he had to do is talk... And some money to move around too. Not even up to 50k spent over all. But it took sometime sha...
3. Offer a service of any kind... You can do home tutor if you are academically sound in maths and other science subject you can even focus on just maths since many students hate or fear the subject and their parents are very well aware of this flaws and they will go to any length just to make sure the kids do well in it. Just talk around to one or 10 persons...
I did home tutor for period of time and the pay was good. You can have 3 homes where you to teach on rotation. Education is still one of the best money maker.
4. You can start a cleaning company by helping busy people clean their house. You can make millions doing this. One lady shared how she started on Quora.com and today she is millionaire from the business and in dollars
5. People who position themselves as solution can never lack. There is something in you right now that can fetch you money. Go hard or go extinct.
No need for PMs. |

Originalsly: We already know what the politicians do.....but why complain when it is us that put them into office? When it comes time to vote in local or national elections ..... do we really consider if that person will improve our condition?...or we just vote him in because he is 'our party' guy/from our tribe/of our religion? ...and when they screw us over...we complain silently if it's our guy...loudly if he's not....but vote him in again anyways. It is for us to make a change and that can only come about when we hold our elected officials accountable....not by complaining...but by voting them out of office. On being a graduate and unemployed...why? For the most.... graduates do not want to be employed in a position below the level of their qualifications. No doubt.... there are not enough jobs to employ all graduafes...connections or no connections. More graduates will be employed in their field if they begin to accept any job opening in the company they are targeting. ..gateman..driver..purse holder...whatever...once in..you can move up be a use you have the inside track on job openings inside the company. Pride is the main cause of sooo many graduates being unemployed. On being an entrepreneur. .... that's the easiest way to go...the way to go even if already employed. The problem...people want to start big...like OP stated... he will need N100K to start a business....is no way you can start a business with N2K?...really?....so we remain unemployed. Naija is ripe for business because there are not many rules and regulations and not enforced. And at last...... my family members are all employed....absolutely no connections only one doesn't have a 9 to 5 job..but still employed. ...and almost all...have things they do on the side. Graduate or not...there must be something one can do to earn money....there are things that many of us can do to earn twice as much as the little pittance we receive as salary in our white collar all show low pay job. Pride is the biggest barrier. God bless you. |

majekdom2: you should understand what I mean by selling. Yes, every business sells to make money but what are they selling and what value. Is the company building a new product or buying a business that's been building a product before now. Will catalan discover more efficient ways to drill for oil and start exploration. Will catalan be exploring oil. I mean taking risk to go drill for oil in an unconfirmed location.. No! Catalan will only be selling oil being produced from the asset they want to buy from chevron. In oil and gas, these type of companies are called operating/ trading companies. They are different from exploration companies that invest millions in drilling in a location and then not finding oil. Now, there is nothing wrong in being a trader. My point I don't see any motivation in this as he did not loose millions of dollars. Did he go to drill in an unconfirmed location. The hype is too much abeg. It's what every business man does everyday! One question: "what is the Trojan horse he talked about"? |

anochuko01: bro its you who should humble and listen jaree. that man is simply saying there's no innovation or invention in what's been celebrated here. whereas innovation/invention and building from scratch are the most interesting parts of entrepreneurship. entrepreneurship is beyond just buying and selling. and a wise man say you don't reinvent the wheel... Now listen... The innovation is what paddy termed as Trojan Horse... The acquisition was just one side of the whole thing which is why he didn't care much if he lost at first phase, that was why he quickly went to the other company in order to partner and opted to be on the management team because he was planning to use the image and prestige... Where did he plan to deplore the Trojan horse? Africa. Why? Because he noticed there was a loophole. Something many where not doing... That is innovation/enterprise... And that is what every other company your friend hailed as being the real deal did--they just added 1 to 1 and got 2... Nobody builds from scratch bros... People are hailing elon musk as being a genius for his electric car... Was he the inventor of car? Did he build from scratch? It is on record that he is not even the first person to build electric cars. Mark Zuckerberg didnt do anything new either.. Same goes for amazon... majekdom2: you see, lots of you just talk without proper thought. Now will catalan be a Nigeria company? Will it pay tax to Nigerian Government? Trading- buying and selling. That is why many Nigerians see buying and selling as entrepreneurship. You see shops opening every other day. This is part of why Nigeria is a dumping ground because many will invest in importation and selling it than to create one locally. I am talking ingenuity and excellence- that's what entrepreneurship is. Yes, Mike has laid foundations but there are so many rich kids that build products from scratch and use the connection. That's a more interesting story. He wanted to buy chevron netherlands because he bided- i.e had money to buy not because he was ingenious or created something to exchange for chevron's asset. For crying out loud. Chevron, shell are buying other companies. Those are motivating stories- IPO,exits and buy offs. Enter the entrepreneur space, you will understand its a different feeling. @ first bolded, there is a Nigerian canadian company called paystack. Owned by Nigerians, their product was built in Nigeria but no Nigeria could help with capital. It was Ycombinator that saw the ingenuity in them and invested. Today everyone wants to know paystack. Someone like you may have advised they start car importation. My point is, we need stories of technology being built and tranfer. Stories like innosson. Not buying and selling oil. All business around the world SELL.. So what are you talking about again? You sound like someone whose definition of entrepreneurship means reinventing the wheel which to me is the most stupidest thing to think off... chronique: True. I started biz all by myself with no mentor nd nobody dropping a dime. I have seen some of lovely ideas which I carelessly submitted to companies with the view of them sponsoring it,being tweaked and reproduced on grand scale and I had no idea who to hold. I'd even carelessly posted those ideas on Nairaland way back... That was just the naive and inexperienced me back then. I once sat and talked with my dad about financing some of my lofty ideas. He looked me in the eyes and told me the ideas were actually great and juicy but were too risky to finance. As someone who was in charge of credit risk in one of Nigeria's biggest first generation banks,he felt it risk was too high despite the ROI being very high. He simply told me what the banks were interested financing, were businesses that could easily show how the 1 naira can become 2 naira with minimum with the barest minimum risk. Moreover, there had to be such existing businesses on ground... It was the same old archaic way of Nigerian banks lending money to businesses. From that day onward,I decided to keep all my ideas to myself until I have enough money to push them. This year,I'd be testing the waters with one.
If only I had mentors or financiers back then, things would have different. But I have few regrets. Those experiences have become valuable to me. Yeah, that is why I am fighting hard to raise money all on my own.Nigerians hardly invest in "idea" and i hate the feelings that comes with people looking at you like you are stupid when you talk about an idea. Your dad is right by Nigerian standard.. banks are only interested in financing instant gratification ventures... that is invest today, get paid tomorrow with monster interest. That is why they will support Dangote than you and I. .I had to force myself last year to start strike my first biggest multimillion naira deal with a commission of 2-10Million naira per deal, It is a supply based initiative... Once i have gotten enough pay from this idea, I will move on to the next dream business which is a franchise of sort to revolutionize a sector within Nigeria like the man behind Pure Water industry... May major worry is that i would like to reduce "COPY CATS" in this industry and I have been wondering if it is possible, by law, to prevent people from using same model or going into similar business... I am very certain that people will dive in as soon as they see me doing it. |

MrMcJay: I don't have to break down everything for you. This economic recession that a lot of Nigerians are experiencing throws up a lot of opportunities.
For instance, since the price of imported rice has risen, a smart investor would go and invest in the local rice chain. Seek out local rice producers and get the price per bag. Contact nearby restaurants and bulk buyers and promise to supply them at wholesale price with the option of payment on delivery. Even if you advertise local rice on NL, you are sure of plenty customers.
Instead of benefitting from the opportuinty above, they prefer to drink N10 garri and use it to insult Buhari on NL.
Let me tell you a true story.
Sometime ago during the telecoms boom in Nigeria, an very smart Nigerian who I respect so much formed a company called Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services (EMTS). He put the basic corporate structures on ground and ran it as a startup.
Subsequently, he approached some Arab investors to invest in his company. These Arab investors were impressed in his company that they decided to buy a part of it. Today, that company was Etisalat Nigeria and he owned 40% of Etisalat Nigeria.
If you think you are too young, go and read up the story of the guy behind Sujimoto Construction.
Don't make the mistakes your fathers made. Seek out opportunities and take advantage of them. You should have ignored him bro. |
