CrimeUnilorin Dropout Stabs Father To Death. by AmiableJay(op): 8:21am On Jun 03, 2013
An 18 years old boy,Olanrewaju Kayode Aremu who was recently arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for stabbing his 46 years old father, Victor Kayode Aremu to death said he does not regret his action.
The native of Kwara State said he stabbed his father to death when he could not get a gun or poison that he could have used to kill his father. This ugly incident happened at their house located at Langbasa,Ajah.
It had also been reported that the suspect was a Geology student of the University of Ilorin,Kwara State but was asked to withdraw due to his academic incompetence.
Olanrewaju said killing his father was a mistake but he never regretted taking his own father's life. One of the reasons he gave for killing his father was that the latter forced him to study Geology instead of his desired course,Biochemisty.
He also added that the Late always maltreated him and the entire family. When he was eventually sent out of school, his father said he would no longer sponsor his schooling. ''I followed him to work, yet he would maltreat me and my mother was well aware of this. He would not give me food. On that day that I killed my father I complained to him that I was ill and he seemed indifferent''
He said he killed his father by repeatedly stabbing him to death. He added that he did that because he thought the murder was a family affair and the government would not interfere.
'I killed him because I thought I was young and would not be arrested.
He is currently being detained at the state Criminal Investigation Department,Yaba.

dadsom202: Gud mawnin evry1.please help a nairanlander wif the problem of reading to understand.AM ALWAYS FINDIN IT DIFFICULT TO READ AND UNDERSTAND,please ur advice/direction/guide iz needed pleas asap as pume is at the corner grin kiss
Am not really a psychologist, but the logical question to ask is,if you cannot read to understand, how did you pass your Jamb because it's stated in your post that you want to write Post Jamb? What is your Jamb score? Who wrote the exam for you?
Leaving the sceptical side of it,let me ask you,do you think the problem is more of spiritual than the physical.
A man who identifies the nature of his problem solves it half-way already. If it's(IF YOU THINK IT IS) physical,I would advise you to::
1. Evaluate your reading habits. What is your attitude to studying? Is it laziness or enthusiasm?
2. Evaluate yourself. Where do you read that you can easily assimilate? Your room, library,or where?
3. How many hours on the average do you read. It is not the length that matters,it is how much you capture and decode the print into your brain.
4. What motivates you when you read,is it a noisy or serene enviromnent? Is it the night or day?
5. What is the 'infallible' distraction(s) for you while you read? Phones, head phones,2go;-),bla bla bla
When you answer these questions, you can then begin to improve in areas where you are deficient.

Exactly, there is nothing like past question for U.I's Post utme. We submitted the question paper and the OMR sheet last year. I urge you to read far and beyond the province of JAMB and O'level. Sixty percent of the questions are very simple(If you know them) and the other fourty are like university exam questions, they are more technical and extra-syllabus. Dont let the fantasy of your '250 plus' in jamb fool you. For instance the same person that had around 270 marks got 18% in my faculty for the post jamb. Same thing for nursing candidates, only three or four students got 50% and above and unfortunately,50% is the least cut-off mark.Dont be scared! ;-)Just read your books,I swear, you'll be a UITE you've always dreamt of becoming. Goodnight! |Rep LAW|.
PoliticsNigerian Army Offers Amnesty To Boko Haram As Offensive Continues. by AmiableJay(op): 6:18pm On May 20, 2013
The Nigerian military has offered an amnesty to Islamist militants to surrender and claimed that Boko Haram are now ''in disarray''
Officials reported that 17 people had been killed on the fifth day of a military operation to try to crush the insurgency in the North East. In their biggest offensive since the insurgency began in 2009, Nigerian forces are trying to chase the well-armed militants out of territory they control in remote semi-deserts around Lake Chad, along the borders with Cameroun,Chad and Niger.
They are also pursuing Boko Haram in the North East cities such as Maiduguiri where the sect has numerous cells and produce their weapons locally.Meanwhile, some analysts have expressed fears that the offensive may have rendered the alreday slim chance of a political solution to the conflict impossible by the Nigerian Forces. The President's Spokesman,Reuben Abati denied this position.
Mr. President has urged Boko Haram to surrender and embrace the amnesty option while it lasts.

PoliticsDemocracy Will Fall. by AmiableJay(op):
Sometimes,I have always pondered on the basic dynamics of the democratic institution. According to Charles Darwin who said that the survival of the fittest is expedient for the sustainance of the organism. We can relate this scientific'aphorism' to the obvious and explicit weakness of democracy and its future. Democracy is a Greek culture that has been borrowed and incorporated into the fabric of the global system.
However, culture is said to be a rigid framework of sets of beliefs and ideas which governs man and his relation to his environment as claimed by E.B Tylor. Culture differs fundamentally across the globe and in the process of acculturation, gross or insignificant side-effects and offsets are unavoidable and imminent. Nigeria,as a vast land before the intrusion of Europe had its own distinct and systematic political culture which saw to its survival through the ages. When the Whites came, they stole our cultural heritage and gave us their own culture.
This resulted into the inadequacy of the borrowed culture and the partial destruction of our own indigeneous culture.
That is how the functionalism of our 'borrowed' democracy has ignited and sparked political dilemma for the nation. That is why our democracy is sub-standard. Although,it can be sufficiently argued that democracy is the best given the complexity of the modern world and its technical suitability, but democracy is just a whole made up of 'conceived' or 'reasoned' parts, such as the doctrines of equity and equality, fair representation, rule of law and other ideal objects that are epicentred on democracy. However, when a nation cannot stand on its own culture and even receive a crippled culture, such culture is doomed. I foresee the fall of democracy and the birth of a new dispensation in which more realistic and culturally valid goals are pursued by the entirety of the State.U.S.A,Britain,Germany,France have all adopted democracy successfully and modified it to suit their own culture.
Recent events lend credence to this claim. The will of the people is no more the will of God,the legislative bodies now represent their own family, the government executes selfish policies which are all anti-democratic.U.S.A for instance betrays a tenet of democracy by numerous incursions of many countries thus undermining their territorial integrity. If a nation like America can be this anti-democratic in the guise of democracy itself, then I foresee the suicide of democracy. At a philosophical and more specific angle, democracy is just an appearance because it died when ancient Greece fell. Thus, the globe is not even practising democracy ,it is operating what looks like it and if you are intellectually equipped, you will know the metaphysical and the subsequent epistemological implication of this. Since we are practising an appearance of democracy, then it is as bad as the establishment of the bittter truth that democracy is practically EXTINCT.
Democracy is like the dinosaurs that once mastered the animal kingdom but due to changes and vissititudes inherent in nature, could not survive. Hence, our democracy is like an appearance of democracy but in the realm of reality,is an ordinary elephant that does not have the physiological compositions as the dinosaur.

EducationRe: University Of Ibadan 2013/2014 Admission by AmiableJay(m): 10:51pm On May 16, 2013
Greatest Intending UITEs,I use this medium to greet you all.
I put it to you that Jossy4love is a tested and trusted brother of mine and i can vouch for him and any information he posts here. It is in this sense that I wish to clarify a mystery surrounding U.I admission.
Number 1,U.I is not only an unpredictable school,it is dynamic and transparent in her admission exercise.
(2)U.I have over the last three years used the two systems:60/40(Shortlisting) model,50/50(Shortlisting) model and may use JAMB model(O.A.U method) as 'predicted' by Jossy4luv.
Therefore,to strengthen your chances, your jamb score must be high(at least,220 depending on your state of origin-cachment(locality) or ELDs(Bornu,Adamawa,Yobe...etc) so that you wont be at disadvantage If U.I uses the 50/50 model they used for us last year.
It is probable that U.I may not use the 60/40 model again because of its collosal flaws. Therefore,U.I will definitely use either last year's model or O.A.U's model in which every candidates with 200+ can sit for the examination. However,I doubt the veracity of this information because,U.I likes integrity and transparency in its dealings. U.I cannot(with 80% probability)invite every students for p.utme because it is exploitative. If U.I can only admit 3 thousand student, how will she invite over 40,000 for her post jamb when she knows she cant admit even one-ninth of the applicants. That is why the school drafts departmental cut off marks to trim the number of Post utme candidates to an explanable proportion. U.I even displays the post utme result publicly so as to reiterate their transparency.
On the other hand,if U.I uses O.A.U method, the admission will not be favorable to some people because even if you meet the cut off mark in the postume, that will not guarantee your admission because of the limited carrying capacity of the school. This is evidenced by the event of last year in which a friend of mine who applied for law got around 250 in his jamb and was not invited for the post utme. If U.I uses the O.A.U method, number one,the post jamb form will be expensive.2,the questions will be tougher.(3)the school may use strict marking scheme e.g negative marking.(4)The process may go corrupt as admission will become a connection issue..etc.
Whichever way,I believe and pray another man's diet will not be your own toxin. Remember God,admission is not just about reading Lamlad or solving past questions or religious study habit, when you are close to God,He'll surely see you through..
You can add me up on 2go@Barryjay94/twitter@gagbak for any information.

Poems For ReviewA Letter To 40 Years Old Me. by AmiableJay(op): 6:04pm On May 12, 2013
DEAR JERRY.
With joy do I pick us this pen.

To open my heart to you like a broken den.

I know you are now grown and matured.

You deserve to be respected,my Lord.

Though,I dont know how you'll look.

Nor your hobby or what you now like to cook.

In this awe,do I write you this letter.

How are your sons and daughter?

How is your Legal profession and writing flair.

I hope you haven't lost 'your Sun' like Dr. Dre.

I hope you still abide by the ideals you formulated when you were prime.

Those personal quotes that you drafted suitable for all clime.

About equality,equity and natural justice.

I hope you still eschew injustice.

Or have you so much changed.

That the pressures you can no more cage.

Or do you now call the dusk an eclipse.

How are your dormant perjurial skills.

Are they still exticnt or revived.

What of your wife?

The perfect woman made for you.

Do you care for her like a pure wool.

Or is she now a recipient of your verbal tirade.

I hope she doesnt treat you like a fierce masquerade.

Now,this is my purpose of wrting you.

I know you were never perfect nor am i too.

I write to tell you to achieve this simple goal.

It wont be easy, yes I know.

Mr. Jeremiah,if all your dreams fail.

I beg you, just set the set the sail.

Or if your sail is so feeble and frail.

Take to the oars, you cannot fail.

Can you remember the popular Nursery rhyme.

Row row row your boat, that you learnt during your prime.

Do you row your boat gently.

How do you deal with the frustration of the sea.

Do you row it merrily?

Do you think, your destination you'll see.

Remember that death is always at the door.

Like wheat is always on the moor.

Or has luxury taken over your routine.

That your creator you have forsaken?

My admonition for you is inexhaustible.

I laud your patience,it is very credible.

I shall wait for your reply.

Even if it will take many years for the notify.

.........Sincerely yours.....

#I Rep Faculty of law,U.I, 100 Level#
How is the preparation for the Post UTME?I appeal to you all to read and study wide for the exam, the statistics of the Post UTME last year was just too embarassing.Only, circa 38 percent passed and once you get below 50,just forget U.I. Mind you,the questions are simple(If you study). And for law applicants, try and score at least 70 in the post jamb,i can assure you,you are a baby lawyer already.
To some students who were lucky to score 200+ in jamb though not with their brain, you should compensate your luck by reading hard and disprove the maxim which says:
