I've heard many times that Hausa language is the easiest of all languages to learn in Nigeria.

You sound like women just recently started refusing marriage proposals deliberately but that is not true. Every Saturday, wedding ceremonies take place in Nigeria in almost all event centres and town halls, not forgetting fields too. Women are still very much in the business of marrying.

The problem now is her age. Not all suitors are best for the lady, she can't marry just any guy. Guys in this present age are becoming more and more irresponsible, I'm sorry but that's what I've observed. Men who are not committed to anything, not willing to make anything work, most especially their relationship with the opposite sex. I hear guys say "when I'm really rich, I'll just go and get a wife, shebi na money women want?"... Very wrong. Reducing women to a commodity, an acquisition, sth on a shelf waiting to be purchased.

When guys begin to act responsibly, ladies will marry in a haste.

Back to the issue at hand, you suggest I groom him because I'm his wife! That's a lazy excuse. To start with, we aren't married. I'm considering... so why can't he help himself and help me make a wise decision by washing himself clean and buying some products (I'm so nice that I can offer to recommend good products he'll enjoy *smiles). That's not too much to ask for.

I brought up this personal hygiene issue because as men here are screaming that ladies are choosy and that's the reason for their "dilemma", I'm saying that if the guys help the ladies eliminate some of these baggage on their part we'll have a smooth ride

I think it has to do with the subconscious programming of/by the ladies in the early teenage years of fantasy of the ideal man for romance.

Such subconscious programming may create a loop, hindering such a lady from making the transition to marriage.

The "ideal" man for romantic relationship may not be or make the "ideal" husband, most times; Thus calling for self re-evaluation by ladies and re-evaluation of the men in their lives as they (ladies) progress in life.

menxer, you made a good point but not all ladies had this problem of subconscious programming.

I believe some men have to work on themselves first before proposing marriage to any lady. Their poor hygiene can be a turn off! I don't understand why young men won't get necessary grooming products and look good before approaching a lady.

With or without any programming, she most definitely will say no. No lady fantasize about marrying a man who isn't clean.

To butress your point, I know of a LOVELY lady that has just married chaps asking her out. Now we are real close so I know it has got nothing to do with her character or village as she's above board in both regards.

She complains about this. The single chaps that do come around are according to her not serious. Now before you say she's being picky and whatnot, she isn't!

Marriage is not the ultimate but it's a beautiful thing

It's not bad to look for good features that are attractive to the eyes of the beholder na. Don't men look for certain features too in ladies? Why should a lady accept a proposal from men they are not attracted to? Not cool.

Marriage is beautiful therefore in due time, maybe at 40+ too, she may just find the beautiful one for her *smiles.
