WizardOfNG:The joke is on you. The president has Matawalle, who pioneered negotiations with bandits while he was governor, as his minister of defence and who only yesterday, said only God can end insecurity in the country. He has an NSA who referred to bandits as his "brothers." He also has several APC governors who are openly negotiating with terrorists in their states and granting amnesty to repentant terrorists all under the guise of "non-kinetic approach" and he keeps mum. He only remembers he's Commander-in-Chief when it comes to declaring state of emergencies in politically non-compliant states and incarcerating opposition figures. |
Gimba Kakanda, a government critic turned Shettima-appointee, now sells hope to the populace. |
Meanwhile, our Minister of state for Defence...
|
Lanre1st:No, but his stooge, Ambo is. How is it an arrangee deal? Wouldn't it have been easier to accept Adeleke into the APC as Adeleke himself wanted? We all know Oyetola was against the defection because he can't wait to takeover Osun from Adeleke now that his cousin is C-in-C and Tinubu succumbed. Meanwhile, in states like Enugu and Kano, he came down heavy-handedly on Nnaji and Ganduje when they resisted the defections of the opposition governors in their states. Double standard and favoritism. Unbecoming of a president. |
LegendHero:Dey play. Is Aregbesola a joke to you? Despite what Adeleke says, the people of Osun knows he's only trying to patronise Tinubu until he secures his re-election. Even Tinubu knows. |
Okay but if the elections are tribalised, Tinubu cannot win. Atiku won Osun in 2023. 2023 was more of the Southern turn than 2027 is. Patronising Tinubu will not save you if you lose guard. Tinubu is willing to do everything to ensure that he regains control of Osun, through his cousin, Oyetola. |
zenburster:Because Ojukwu contested the 2007 elections under APGA after 8 years of Obasanjo and he was supported by Peter Obi. Did Atiku ask Ojukwu not to contest then? Zoning was a purely PDP affair and Atiku, along with several other PDP members simply asked Jonathan to respect the party's constitution and the agreement they had. What pact does Atiku have with you? Zoning is not in the Nigerian constitution. Only some few political parties embed it in their constitution. Atiku owes you nothing! |
Counterigbolies:If Elrufai is a terrorist that killed Christians then that makes Tinubu an accomplice too because he was all over the place during the campaigns begging Elrufai to help make him president. "Dear brother Nosiru", he called him. Is Seyi Makinde the latest terrorist in town? Or that's a nomenture only reserved for Elrufai by the hypocrites? |
I just thought to add that Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai served as member of that transition committee that was set up by Abdulsalami. This is for those who always say Atiku discovered Elrufai. He was already an established young millionaire with a thriving surveying firm named "Elrufai and Partners". Elrufai is also the first chartered Quantity Surveyor in Nigeria and the first to graduate with a first class in that field in Nigeria. If the current usurpers in power think they can incarcerate one of Northern Nigeria's best without repercussion. They are mistaken. They have only taken a debt that will be repaid in full. |
EmmaFantastic2:That was Buhari. It was also Buhari who declared June 12 as Democracy Day in honour of Abiola and bestowed all rights and privileges of a president to him, posthumously. Tinubu has never even mentioned Abiola by name ever since he became president. His goal is to position himself as the greatest Yorubaman that ever liveth. Going by character traits of people like him, he will attempt to go for a third term if he wins in 2027 just to prove to Obasanjo that he did what he could not do. Thankfully, we will never know. |
WorldRichest:He is simply bastardising our institutions as he has since been doing. Have you checked the list of civilian awardees? 98% are from the Southwest. He may think he's on to something there but he's only undermining the prestige of what used to be a recipient of a national honour. |
westside365:I don't understand you. Are you saying that renaming buildings in the North after Shehu Yar'adua is not a massive achievement that the North should be grateful for? There has been wild jubilation across the North ever since the announcement. |
raumdeuter:Exactly. If the Southeast say they are not interested in becoming president or Vice via an Atiku alliance and prefer to go solo, neither Atiku nor anyone can help that. As usual, they will give Obi 97% of their votes, but what is it worth? The North splitted their votes into 4 (Atiku got 6.9m, Tinubu got 5.6m, Obi got 2.3m and Kwankwaso got 1.4m) in 2023 and still managed to make Tinubu win. Personally, I have always maintained that if the Southeast will not support Atiku in 2027, they are better off supporting Tinubu than going solo. History has shown that the Southeast is the only region that does not split their votes. They vote in a one-way traffic like a herd so what will Atiku stand to gain by making a Southeasterner a V.P? |
Africana1123:True. This is another massive achievement by the Tinubu government. But have you noticed that Tinubu has not named anything after MKO Abiola despite running on his June 12 sentiments? His first June 12th as president, he seized the opportunity to unveil the world's largest portrait, which was a portrait of himself. He didn't even mention Abiola all through and is still yet to do so. He has rather made it about NADECO. |
Tinubu’s lackeys have taken over the thread out of fear and trepidation. Tell Tinubu to start getting his handover notes ready. |
Virtually all the Northern governors under APC bar few are negotiating with bandits. This could be what is driving the massive influx of bandits into the Southwest. We warned that the so-called "non-kinetic approach" that is being celebrated by some APC lackeys as an achievement is akin to putting bandage over a bullet wound. But they said we weren't happy that "peace" is returning to the North. Peace that is procured can never be sustainable. It is simply an incentivisation of terrorism. "The only repentant bandit is a dead one" - Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai |
jamafa:He will, but assuming he doesn't, Atiku will still emerge with the highest votes cast if the election is to hold today. As long as Southerners will be splitting the votes among themselves with Obi likely coming out on top, Atiku is good. |
raumdeuter:I wasn't talking about ADC but to humour you, Atiku’s age and the opportunity to write his name in gold as he has always maintained that he is the pathway to an Igbo presidency. A chance for the Southeast to get a foot in the door as a launchpad to succeed Atiku, just like Tinubu did in 2015. A chance for Obi to become an unstoppable force by inheriting Atiku's bloc and a huge chunk of the Buhari CPC bloc. A Southeasterner still won't become Vice under APC if the Southeast fails to vote APC in 2027 and they likely won't. Northerners had no love for Tinubu prior to supporting Buhari in 2015, but they returned the favour anyway in 2023 by voting enmass for Tinubu (he has Elrufai to thank for that but he's ungrateful). It would have also been the opportunity for the North and the Southeast to heal old wounds and go back to the old Northern-Eastern alliance. Obi prioritised self over ambition and he had no patience for delayed gratification, unlike Tinubu in 2015. |
Aisha had no intention of winning. She only wanted to use the campaign to raise funds. Unfortunately, Dickson has urinated all over their parade.
|
raumdeuter:Comprehension. It is a no-brainer that virtually all the sitting Southeastern governors are in APC or are APC-affiliated even though their people are not. They all oppose Obi because they want to position themselves to become VP candidates when their second tenures will be expiring in 2031. Obi becoming president or Vice in 2027 prevents that from happening. That was why the likes of Ekweremadu and Umahi opposed Obi's nomination as Atiku’s Vice in 2019. This is without prejudice to other Southerners like Abaribe and Ihedioha who would rather prefer their region to align with the North sooner by supporting Atiku in 2027. Zoning remains a party affair and a party that has not yet assumed power has no business sharing power that it has not even gotten yet. If APC Northerners are supporting Tinubu today, it because they expect power to shift to the North in 2031 if Tinubu wins. How does what I analysed above correlate with your conjectures? P.S: It is also the reason why Dickson is lukewarm to Obi's ambition and will rather prefer Obi doesn't win. He only wants the NDC to become viable in 2027 so he can deputise Kwankwaso as VP come 2031. Kwankwaso is in on it. |
Tareq1105:You all need to pick one struggle and stick with it. Is Atiku the dollar man that shares dollars to everyone or is he the brokeman that can no longer fund his election campaign? Pick one. Didn't Obi cite dollarisation of the direct primaries as a reason for why he left the ADC? So, an Atiku that could credit everyone's account with dollars in a primary is suddenly short of funds? How much did Obi spend in his last election when he defeated Tinubu in the entire South? Why did Okowa not deliver Atiku as an incumbent governor and VP candidate in Rivers despite having the funds? Did Tinubu lose Lagos and Osun because he didn't spend enough? |
seunmsg:Where have they gone to? Tinubu? If they are no longer intact, he has gained far more in the North amongst those who voted Tinubu in 2027. Goal-Goal. |
garykoeman:Okay, let's address your ignorance one by one. In 2023, Binani was the APC candidate in Adamawa. Her leaving the APC is a loss for Tinubu. In 2023, Babachir Lawal left APC due to Tinubu's muslim-muslim ticket and supported Obi. That he temporarily joined the ADC coalition does not mean he's an Atiku ally. He has never voted for Atiku. As for Okowa, granted he's now in APC but he didn't deliver his state to Atiku as an incumbent governor and Vice presidential candidate. Obi won Delta. If Deltans didn't vote Okowa despite being a VP candidate, what will Tinubu promise them that will make them vote him in 2027? |
Dreal1247:The people of Rivers are silently aggrieved with Tinubu for his interference and humiliation of Fubara. They will be a lot of protest votes and Wike cannot rig the elections without spilling blood. This is why Wike tried recently to patronise Amaechi by calling him "His Excellency Amaechi, my brother". In any case, Amaechi does not need to "win" any state for Atiku. |
omenka:Where will Tinubu's votes come from? In 2023, he got defeated by Obi in the South, winning only 4 Yoruba states out of 17 Southern states. He became president because of the 5.6m Northern votes. Atiku has barely lost a voter from his 6.9m votes in 2023 but he has made huge incursions into the North with the demise of Buhari and Tinubu's betrayal of the Northern allies that helped him to galvanise votes. |
Still conjectures but this will be a solid ticket. Congratulations in advance to Waziri Atiku Abubakar and Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi. |
Good but Shehu Yar'adua already has many monuments named after him. Selfless leaders get monuments named after them posthumously but Tinubu is actively naming projects carried out by him with taxpayer's money, after himself, some even before completion. That smacks of low self-esteem that is being masked with megalomania. |
Sheuns:I knew how desperate Obi was when he agreed to do only one term. How can you negotiate such conditions for a region that has never produced the presidency and expect to be trusted? If Obi had remained in the ADC and aligned his region with the North, he would have gotten the opportunity to inherit Atiku’s Northern bloc, a huge segment of Buhari’s bloc, as well as his Southeastern bloc. That would have made him unstoppable. He fears he would lose his base in the Middlebelt but that base is already gone to Tinubu, regardless. Clearly, some Southeastern politicians like Abaribe and Ihedioha were thinking along that line but Obi threw them all under the bus. That's why none of them followed Obi on his wild goose chase to the NDC. The crop of Southeastern leaders that would not be supporting Obi come 2027 are only doing so because they want to stand the chance of becoming Vice in 2031 and use that as a launchpad for the presidency. |
This is where the true loyalty of Obi's supposed loyalists like Aisha and Tanko will be tested.
|
These are the members of Obi's think-tank that convinced Obi to leave the ADC, thinking they will use the platform of the NDC to raise and embezzle funds. Dickson simply said, "not on my watch". The ADC handed its platform to Moses Paul from Obi's camp to contest the FCT elections and Atiku and other coalition leaders even donated to his campaign. Yet, he joined Obi to defect to the NDC where they have all now been denied a platform, except for Obi himself who got the presidential ticket but with a lot of disrespect.
|
Maxymilliano:Exactly. That was when I drew my conclusions about how petty and vindictive Tinubu is. That singular move also diminished the weight of the national honour and what it symbolises. He excluded Dele Momodu simply because he refused to sing the mandate song. He only now rewards it to sycophants, cronies and mandate standers. Even Chagoury got one of the highest in the land, GCON. |
