Omoboricash:Yes. Tinubu looks like someone morbidly afraid of losing election. That is why he's abusing power by incarcerating opposition figures without charge, coercing and inducing governors to decamp to the APC, destroying all other opposition parties using apparatus of state, and changing and amending electoral laws on a whim to sabotage opposition parties and give his party undue advantage, removing fake certificates and age falsification as a disqualification criteria, etc. All this won't save him at the polls come 2027. He still remains largely unpopular across the North and South. |
hotseat:Talking about capacity, he made Tinubu president. The fact that you lot have bitten the hand that fed you does not invalidate that fact. Time is a gentleman. |
Nairaland mods sent a fake news to frontpage without clarification. Only to now resort to this? |
APC are clearly afraid. As far as presidential elections are concerned, the ADC will turn out to be the party to beat in the North and the Southeast come 2027. |
NDC was Wike's plan B to field an opponent against Fubara in Rivers if he lost control of PDP. The bigger question Nigerians should be asking is why did the party get registered out of several other applications before INEC. What criteria did it fulfil that other applicants didn't? This is no longer democracy. |
hotseat:The law does not allow for perpetual detention before investigation. It should be vice versa. Tinubu is just keeping Elrufai away from the 2027 electioneering campaign because he knows his capacity. He is afraid and it shows. The outcome of the election will be inevitable with or without Elrufai. |
nairaland mods were quick to close this thread providing clarification but they didn't correct the title of this thread that is an outright lie claiming Dino Melaye said Obi couldn't be president in 2027. Melaye made that comment in 2023 in the lead up to the presidential elections. But the header of this thread is claiming he made it recently, and the Mods are turning a blind eye. hotseat:The real question is why is APC afraid of suing him to court? What question do you expect him to answer in detention? Pleading silence is his fundamental right. The ICPC is not a court of law. They have been investigating him for over 2 years but all we've seen so far is media trials from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway toilet papers while still failing to arraign him. Elrufai is rather the one following the Constitution by suing the government to court. We were initually told by Tinubu’s toilet newspapers that he embezzled 450 billion naira, then it became mansions in Cairo. Now, they have abandoned all that and are now searching his old laptop and Nokia N95 for wiretapping evidence. Wetin concern ICPC with wiretapping? No be juju be that? Tinubu is hounding opposition because he is clearly afraid. Time is a gentleman. |
He who has to say he's king is no true king. The snake oil that was sold to Nigerians as democracy fighters have been unravelled. You have long proven to be worse than Abacha. State of emergency in Rivers, coercing all governors to decamp to APC, destroying all opposition parties, unilaterally detaining influential opposition figures like Elrufai without charge, changing and amending electoral laws through captured National Assembly to sabotage other political parties, etc. This is Paul Biya and President Talon in the making. |
Stable food prices via importation? Nigerians can now see why self sufficiency in food production is non-negotiable. One global shock and Nigerians stand the risk of starving due to dependence on food importation to the detriment of local production. |
Hedonisco:This is just one of the several ways the APC under Tinubu have been stiffling opposition voices through inducement, coercion and outright incarceration without charge. The death of Nigeria's democracy. |
NairaMaster1:Of course, after the elections he will then be released right? Just say you are afraid. Take him to court nonetheless. None of ICPC, DSS and EFCC are the courts. He is still yet to be arraigned because they found nothing. |
Richtaiwo:Is that why ICPC alias Tinubu is perpetually detaining him? What happened to the 450 billion naira allegation? Why hasn't he been charged to court? When did ICPC mandate change to include detaining someone on allegation of wiretapping? Tinubu is well aware that Elrufai is one of the lifeblood of the opposition. He's just keeping him away from the campaign trail because he is clearly afraid of Elrufai's capacity, despite having all 36 governors. But time is a gentleman. |
As revealed by Makinde, the agreement to destroy the PDP to Tinubu's advantage was brokered in Aso Rock in the presence of Tinubu, Wike and Makinde. Every other thing is theatrics and this outcome has always been the plan. So much for the "fighters of democracy" and so-called NADECO activists. All of these efforts to destroy, undermine and intimidate opposition has never been seen under a democratic dispensation. It does not suggest the behaviour of someone who will willingly relinquish power in 2031 if they manage to win re-election. |
When in a hole, stop digging. Daniel Bwala is working for Atiku. |
Is this the same man who claimed he "prayed" for Wike and made him win election? |
LibertyRep:If he was "betrayed" by anybody, it has to be by his Southern brother, Tinubu, who ganged up with the North against him. Why are you all afraid of the prospects of Jonathan entering the race? Scratch that, why are you all afraid of any and every opposition? |
God? Was it God that made Wike to brazenly rig the elections without having a second thought on spilling blood during the process? gods of men. |
As predicted, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway toilet papers have commenced work. Enough of the media trials, when are they suing him to court? They have been investigating him for the past two years, why do they need to unconstitutionally detain him before they can conclude their so-called investigations and sue him to court? They have rather pivoted to finding "wiretapping" devices in his house which isn't part of their mandate. Is it because they have found nothing concrete? Hand of Esau, voice of Jacob but bring it on! |
Orlandoo:What exactly did he do? If it's about the wiretapping charade, what really is ICPC's business raiding his residence and confiscating laptops, flashdrives and Nokia N95 and asserting them as wiretapping tools? Is that part of their core mandate? The laughable wiretapping case by the DSS was scheduled to be heard in court but the ICPC failed to produce him. This is a gross abuse of office and we know who's calling the shots and for what reasons but they are only setting a dangerous precedence and the tables will turn in a year from now. Neither the ICPC, DSS or EFCC are a court of law and they are keeping Elrufai illegally in detention against the dictates of the Constitution. That's what Chidi Odinkalu is trying to tell you in the original post. Elrufai has never detained anyone extrajudicially without them having their day in court. |
Elrufai is squeaky clean. The so-called "fighters of democracy" and Paul Biya wannabe have been unravelled as they have since surpassed Sani Abacha in all vices. Next, will be a continuation of media trials on pages of their well-oiled Lagos-Ibadan Expressway toilet papers. All while avoiding the courts as Nigerians have been demanding. Their goal is to keep Elrufai out of the 2027 electioneering campaign knowing his capacity but that will not change the inevitable outcome. The tables will turn in a jiffy. |
Yet another dividends of the "bold reforms". |
At this point, it's safe to say that Daniel Bwala is working for Atiku. |
UrVillageChief:Disgrace? No. The North made Tinubu president. He was defeated decisively in the South by Peter Obi. |
UrVillageChief:Fair enough. No worry yourself. In 2027, every region will vote for their own son. Let's see where Tinubu will get 5.6m Northern votes to make him president. He only won 4 Yoruba states out of 17 Southern states in 2023. |
DeclanR:There's no evil, only the courts can determine that. This is simply Tinubu being scared of Elrufai as an opposition figure despite having 36 governors. Nigeria is not a dictatorship. |
duro4chang:So when will he be taken to court? That's exactly what he's saying. He will only speak in court. The ICPC is still searching for evidence to charge him to court while keeping him illegally detained? |
NEIGHBOUR:So why are you bothered by ADC? You should be happy. The goal of every political party, except APC, is to rescue Nigeria and frankly, most if not all, will be better than what we currently have. |
Suspicious that out of several applications lying before INEC, only NDC was approved for registration. Same NDC that has long been touted as Wike's Special Purpose Vehicle incase Fubara and Tinubu decide not to play ball by respecting the agreement. |
Mattswaggz:He was killed in his own house in the middle of negotiations after refusing to be relocated to another location. What's there to applaud in killing an 86 year old man with cancer unawares and turning him into a matyr? He was eventually going to succumb to his ailment anyways. |
Lagos APC and mysterious deaths of party members. So dark the con of man. Same way over 4 female local government deputy chairs and councillors died under questionable circumstances. |
Impeachment is far better than slumping and dieing under mysterious circumstances. Ask the late Bayelsa State deputy governor. |
