VAQAXY: The same tribal politics your felon leader awoh played against the great Zik when he (Zik) won the election in the western region. We are saying the same thing, go and vote him in your state in odua land. Ngige has been turned to thug since he joined APC. We do not want thugs amongst us.since when did an idea of a person considered as world view. as far as am concern, ngige is a well respected entity in Nigeria as a whole. few apga die hard fan may not like him but most anambrians and people from other state cherish him. in my state abia, we wish to have someone like him as a governor. |
am not a political fan, for no good reason I decide to put interest in this particular election. I was in anambra when they conducted their election, I have follow it up from every thick and thin. the election was a massive disappointment considered how inec boost and beat their chest on how they are going to get this right. I must give INEC thumbs up for admitting that one of their staff was involved in mal-practise, but I can bet my ass that it is not only one nor two, they are many. proper investigation should be carried out and fish them out. INEC failed woefully. the election should be re-conducted. |

At least 30 killed, including groom , when convoy was ambushed on highway in northeastern state of Borno. Gunmen have attacked a wedding convoy in Nigeria ' s northeastern state of Borno , killing more than 30 people , including the groom in a suspected ambush. The attack happened on Saturday on the notorious Bama- Banki road when the wedding party was making its way back to the state capital, Maiduguri , after the ceremony in Michika, in nearby Adamawa state . Adamawa state spokesman Ahmad Sajoh said the groom and guests were driving home when they were attacked on the highway that runs alongside forests that are a known hideout of the armed group Boko Haram. A government spokesman said Islamic fighters were suspected of being responsible for the attack . " It was a gory scene, " said a driver , who said he had seen the dead bodies on the highway. The driver , who did not wish to be named, told the AFP news agency that many of the victims appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds . " All the victims were brutally murdered by the attackers . My passengers and I were visibly shocked when we met the dead bodies lying by the highway," he said. Army and police officials in the area were not immediately available for comment . But a security source who described the incident as " brutal and callous" said the bodies had been transferred to a hospital in Maiduguri . Violent attacks are not uncommon in northeastern Nigeria , where the army has launched an offensive to end an insurgency by the armed group, Boko Haram. Last week suspected gunmen attacked a military checkpoint on the road and witnesses said they killed at least four security force members . Attacks continue though the military has driven fighters from major towns in the northeast under a more than five -month- old state of emergency. |

The Minister of Education, Mr Nyesom Wike stated this at the anniversary lecture of National Universities Commission, NUC, in Abuja. The minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Macjohn Nwaobiala, reiterated Federal Government commitment in resolving the ongoing strike of ASUU. Minister of State for Eduction, Barrister Esenwo According to Wike, “The Federal Government is very concerned about the state of public tertiary institutions in the country. The Federal Government is really worried about the ongoing strike of ASUU and the strike would be resolved in a few months.” Professor John Daniel in his paper presentation titled, ‘Turbulent and Testing Times for Global Higher Education: Lessons for Nigeria’, said “online teaching and learning is now part of the future of most universities. Nigeria should be very good at this because without embarrassing you by pressing the point, I note that your country, through 419 scams, is a world leader in the use of the internet for less desirable purposes.” He said higher education all over the world is facing lot of challenges that included youth unemployment and the current changes in the university system. “These are indeed turbulent times, not only for United States of America but also for much of higher education globally”, he said. A former Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Jubril Munzali, in his goodwill message, said the education sector for 21 years have been under funded and the significant increase in the funding of tertiary institutions were done through the struggle of ASUU. He blamed the Federal Government lingering crisis rocking the nation’s university system. He said it is time Federal Government listened to its agencies and allow NUC perform its statutory role and fund universities based on the advice of its agencies like NUC. “Successive administrations in the country never paid adequate attention to university education”. He said the Federal Government process of direct funding of universities, have over the years resulted in mismanagement of the funds allocated to the institutions. |

She waited anxiously and managed the pressures from family members for 31 years of matrimony and childlessness. God finally answered her prayers with bouncing twins two weeks back. Also curious is the fact that she delivered her babies without any medical complications at the age of 56. Who is this woman? The No 6 Akinsola Ooreofe Oluwa home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Olubunmi Ajayi has become a Mecca of some sorts. Neighbours, relations, friends and well wishers of the family have been trooping in since Sunday, September 29, 2013. The only mission of the visitors is to rejoice with the family that has just broken the chains of years of barrenness and childlessness at an incredible age. On the said Sunday, Mrs. Mary Anike Ajayi gave birth to a set of twins. And the family spared nothing to celebrate the christening of the children on the eighth day of their birth. Gaily dressed admirers in large numbers from all works of life, came in droves to catch a glimpse of the bouncing twins. The pleasant aspect of it all was that the twins had just arrived the family, after 31 anxious years of wedlock. Thus, Mrs. Ajayi , aged 56 and her husband, Ajayi aged 64, the proud parents of the bouncing twins, christened them Goodness and Mercy. Weekly Trust gathered that the couple tied the nuptial knot on December 18, 1982. Until now, both had vainly waited on the Lord for the fruit of the womb. And for those trying years, she lamented, it was so challenging. "I was traumatized psychologically and felt like giving up hope of ever carrying my own children," she said. However, Mrs. Ajayi, who teaches at the Muslim College, Oke-Ila, Ado-Ekiti could not hide her joy on September 29, when she entered the labour room and after 15 minutes of labour, he became the proud mother of twins. The highly elated mother said: "I got married to my husband on December 18, 1982 and since then I have been waiting on the Lord for the fruit of the womb but to no avail. The experience of 31 years is not a joke. It is through the grace of God that I was able to sail through it. "At times, I would be unhappy and depressed, even in the midst of my colleagues and friends when they are rejoicing for one thing or the other. But in the Church of the Lord where I worship, they would call us out and pray for those of us looking for the fruits of the womb. That gave me the courage to trust in God that one day God in His mercy would answer my prayer and it happened," she recounted. To ensure that she had children for the marriage, Mrs. Ajayi recalled that she went to different hospitals, herbalists' homes, drank different concoctions, but none solved the problem. "You know as an African woman from Yoruba land, if a married woman delays in giving children to her husband, they will not like it at all. Even when the husband is not worried, the relations would make him worry. I went to hospitals and herbalists' homes. I ate different kinds of herbs, but I got fed up and decided not to do anything again, but to have hope in the Lord, since there is no impossibility in His dictionary. "There was a time, it came to my mind to go and adopt a child, but my mother was against the idea. She insisted that I would have my own children. My husband, too, was against it. He said 'no', that God would do it, because he too believes it, so I discarded the idea of adoption," the new mother said. She expressed gratitude to her husband, who stood by her during her period of tribulation, saying despite having children from another woman, due to pressure from his family, he has not allowed the second wife to take her position. "When my husband realized that I got pregnant, he was very happy and started praying that God will see me through, and that he will see my children," she added. But how did she manage the period of pregnancy and combining same with her job as a teacher and a house wife? Iya ibeji, as she is now being called, said she drew her strength from God, adding "It did not disturb me from doing my primary duty. But you know that during pregnancy one would feel discomfort." "I would pray and place my hands on my stomach and prophesy on it that I would deliver safely; and God granted my prayers," she recalls. Responding to why she named the twins Goodness and Mercy for the boy and girl respectively, she explained that "because it is through the goodness and mercy of God that I was able to have children at this age." Mrs. Ajayi advised couples waiting on the Lord to have faith and not to lose hope, saying God "has no limitations." "They should be prayerful and not allow doubt to come to their minds. Even when temptations or things they could not explain come, they should have hope in God, it is only God that can give children." Mr. Ajayi expressed his appreciation to God, saying he was happy receiving the new gifts from God. "I was rolling on the ground praising God when the nurse invited me into the ward after delivery. She delivered on her own without any surgical operation. I was expecting one, but God decided to make it two, it is a marvelous thing from God." |

Some Christians, including members of Osun Baptists Conference, on Monday pretested against the attempt of the Osun State Government to merge Muslim students, wearing hijab, with the Bapists High School, Iwo, in the new education policy introduced by the current administration. Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who expressed worry about the protest, urged the people to cooperate with the school restructuring of the government, saying the policy was introduced as part of transformation of the education sector by his government. Aggrieved Christians, armed with the Holy Bible and Hymn books, had trooped to the school as early as 7.30am, dislodged all students from the school and prevented teachers from going inside. They said the schools merger, if allowed to succeed, would obliterate the Baptist heritage, vowing not to allow hijab-wearing students in a school established by Christian missionaries. The Christian protesters defied the presence of heavily-armed security operatives and insisted that they would not allow the merger to work. The security agents were civil in handling the situation and this prevented the protest from degenerating into a violent one. The peaceful protest caused gridlock on the roads while some protesters assisted in controlling vehicular movements. The Presiding Minister for the 35 Baptist churches in Iwo land, Rev. Bayo Ademuyiwa, said the church had nothing against the government’s attempt to equip schools in the state, but said the church would not allow any attempt to erase its identity and heritage. www.punchng.com/news/aregbesola-urges-cooperation-as-christian-kick-against-school-merger/ |

ariseandshine: Your individual score is really irrelevant in JAMB. What matters is the aggregate. I dont envision you having any problem. Incase there is just make sure you have a copy of the old print out (213) and the new one (214) for records purpose. Infact photocopy the old result and keep. You can never tell. Thanks dude, I have both. |
Few hours after taking my CBT jamb exam, I got a text that I scored 214, I went and print out the result slip 2 days later, I have been using it during all my post utme. After successfully Securing admission into FUPRE, I needed to print out my original jamb result. Yesterday, when I went to print out my original jamb result I saw 213 instead of 214, 1 mark have been deducted from my chemistry, from 50 to 49. Will it affect me during clearance?? |
NO 8. Some people going to church not to worship God, rather to observe others. |
"Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful and practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who’s extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over it if that trust is ever broken." You surely describe me perfectly. |
