Any Igbo man that's still in the North either doesn't know his history, or value his life. The North seek every oppo kirtunity to strike the igbos, because they know Igbos are helpless. There are more igbos in the north than there are northerners in the east. Igbos will suffer more casualties should there be any intertribal crisis.
The North know that one Nigeria is a charade, but they can't survive alone. On their own, they can't attain self-sufficiency. What's there to be sufficient with?

The north survives/strives on the resources of the South.
If the north had 1/10th the resources of the South, They would have long seceded. That's why resources from the north is used only in the North
