Membership is open to all irrespective of your nationality, intimate orientation or religious affiliation. Anyone who has ever used the internet (emails, youtube, facebook, blogs and Nairaland among others) to disseminate information about their opinions, news events in their environments or lives, is an Independent Journalist precipitate Citizen Journalist. For example, we post about government, policies and issues that affect us as Nigerians not only on facebook but on Nairaland and various channels like blogs, websites and even print newspapers. That qualifies us all to be called Citizen Journalists. Membership to this organization can be sought by visiting the website of organization at www.iaij.org or writing to require more info from info@iaij.org. THE STATUS OF CITIZEN JOURNALISTS AROUND THE WORLD SURVEY--- 2012
Please find attached to this post, copy of the 2012 Survey form (to be downloaded, filled and returned via email)to survey@iaij.org. The survey is meant to collect people's opinions from all corners of the world on their experiences about what it means to be a Citizen Journalist in their locality, country etc. Your opinion is highly valuable to us. You don't need to print out the form. Downloading it as either PDF or MS Word doc on your computer and filling it with the keyboard before returning as attachment with your email is enough! Reports from around the world will form the core of our report for the UNESCO World Summit of the Information Society Forum WSIS coming up in 2013. However, we need all survey response to be turned in asap so we can file our report by November latest.

According to an extract from the organization website,
'This independent report by IAIJ will be global in scope and will pay particular attention to the similarities and differences in citizen journalist experiences by country and region. The report should be finished by late November and be ready for reference at the World Summit of the Information Society Forum (WSIS) held by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in Paris, France early in 2013. WSIS was the result of U.N. Resolution 56/183 approved on December 21, 2001 as an attempt to deal with the new digital age and its effect on society. Recommendations from this WSIS event will eventually become part of ongoing collaborations of many different stakeholders for the betterment of human society as a whole.

Imagine what I watched yesterday on Aljazeera about ALBINOS of Tanzania. Many albinos live in fear because religious and superstitious people hunt them for their body parts which are believed to bring luck as good luck charm bla bla bla, I watched a small boy sold by his father to some alobinos hunters, another girl´s leg) of about 16 year old was cut off by some albino hunters. Doctors and family members were saying WE THANK GOD FOR SAVING THE GIRL. One wonders how religion brainwashes people. How on earth would you thank a god who failed to arrest the albino hunters, who failed to prevent the girl from losing her leg but left her useless as a member of the society? One wonders what they teach them in churches and mosques.

Those who want to watch the video can find it here. I must warn that some of the images in this video may be found disturbing http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/africainvestigates/2011/11/201111185428766652.html

I read everyone´s comment and I must say, every one has some iota of truth in their opinion, In my case, I am Nigerian and travelled to Europe (Slovakia) because I am married to oyinbo woman. Of course I did not marry her because I wanted to travel out, I married her because I love her. Now, this is my fourth month I have been here. I have a permanent residence permit already and studying here through distance learning with the University of London International programme. I work with AT&T as UVN Implementation Manager just because I was able to speak good English during the interview and of course because I was smart with answers etc. I have only a Senior Secondary School Certificate and work among people with Ph.Ds, Masters and first degrees and IT professionals, I am paid well but after paying for accommodation and other expenses like feeding and transportation, I have few hundred Euros left. From my experience, there is racism everywhere in the world. Depending on what you do, where you are and how you react, For example, all blacks and non Slovaks are advised to not walk in the dark or go to corners at night because of Skinheads, I do not walk out after 11 at night here. I know my space and I have not fallen victim of racism than once in a bank. My wife dealt with the man who was making some kind of ''who the hell is this black smelly man?'' comments. She shouted at him in the bank and gave him a sharp comment in the Slovak language which the man used in addressing me, So, I will advise anyone coming to Europe to have a reason, legal reason for coming. I think they will find it kinda not easy at first but as soon as you got a job, a place to stay, you will save few euros to lodge in your bank account at home in Nigeria.

Logic Mind:

I used to believe. Then I saw the light.
I thought I was alone. This thread has shown me that we are legion.
The end predicted by the christians is true but they misunderstand it. It is not the end the world but the end of their imaginary god as many more people begin to ask question and realise the fraud that has been perpertuated for thousands of years on uneducated ignoramuses.
Yes christians, (and moslems and all other religions) the end is coming for you. tongue

Hi Bro Logic mind, you are not alone. There are millions of Atheists, Skeptics, Agnostics and Humanist among other freethinkers and non believers world wide. Like you, I was once religious but now am saved and have found the light. For others who want to know what motivates us, where we draw our inspiration from, I will say they should read, study, observe and most importantly THINK and ASK QUESTIONS. They should ponder and reflect on what they are told or introduced to. Everyone should start REASONING. Science explains more than religion. If you all care, kindly start at www.iheu.org or www.humanism.org.uk to get an idea of who Humanists are. May you all find peace like I did.

Does being a shepherd empowers one to take the law into one´s hands? I bet you, this kind of thing will hardly take place in developed countries like the Uk, US etc. That poor woman, she was humiliated before a crowd of over 20,000 by one man claiming authority and knowledge, If this is how to be a christian, I´d rather die an atheist or humanist. sad(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

When it comes to the issue of god, most Nigerian and all other people, believe in his or her existence. That everybody believes in the existence of something does not make that thing real if not backed by knowledge and tangible evidence. Today, I am going to call my parents over the phone to say Happy New year to them. I believe they live still but I do not know. I will know when I hear their voice over the phone. I may not even believe it until I see them to be sure they are really the ones speaking to me on the phone. That I believe that they are alive does not mean they are alive. We need to realise that we were born into a society driven by belief in the supernatural but we need real tangible evidence to prove they exist. A god, if she or he exist would be so kind and loving to prove to everyone that he loves his children by averting the Xmas day bombing and many other terrorist activities worldwide. Thank god I am a Humanist.
Education / Re: What Then Is The Hope For Students With The SAEB Results In Nija? by amnestylaw(m): 11:49am On Oct 12, 2011
To get your result, simply get all evidence that shows that you sat for the exams. Take such documented evidence to Ile Ife in Osun State and ask for The Polytechnic, Ile Ife. When you get there, ask any lecturer or staff that you want to go to Exams and Records of SAEB. Please remember to say SAEB in full. Do not abbreviate the pronunciation. Standard Associated Examining Board is it. Ask to speak with Chief Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, the founder and owner of the polytechnic, Ile Ife and also owner of SAEB and IJMB. Hope this helps.

The Standard Associated Examining Board is still operating in Nigeria. I was kind of working for them before I came to Europe. Though I was not their official staff, I was just taking question papers to centres in far northern part of Nigeria. You may contact them by visiting The Polytechnic, Ile-Ife in Osun State, Nigeria. Just ask for The SAEB office or Officer. As strange or surprising as my answer may seem, I do not want to use all my mouth to talk than when you try this, you will understand what I mean.

Your last line: "those in heaven are not supposed to be humans" - how do you know?

Pilgrim.1, did you not critically analyse my statements?EVEN IF HE EXISTED, "HE WAS FROM HEAVEN" and those in heaven(according to religionists' view as taken from most "holy books" are not SUPPOSED to be humans. That is to say, if it was true that jesus existed according to what some people "believe" based on biblical stories, then who would know him since he was said to have come from ("heaven"wink a place i have never been and much sure you would not tell me you have been there? Is it not the bible that says "god is not human that he should lie" and the same bible says " i (jesus) and the father are one? Now tell me how someone of the same status with god who is not human should be human?

No2Atheism:

You have used the following qualifiers in your statements:

- which
- may
- was said
- would
- might
- not supposed

Question:
------------

1. Are you even 100% sure about everything you have written considering that you statements have been littered with qualifying words that blatantly show your uncertainty and doubt.

2. Who are the real historians

3. Who are the fake historians

4. How do you know the real historians are telling the truth.

5. What time did the real historians start to "record" history.

6. What is the colour of those from heaven and do they look different from normal humans and how was this your jesus from heaven born or sent to the earth.

It was reported in the bible and some other "holy books" that jesus was from heaven. Even though, i have never seen or heard of anyone who said s/he has been there before, it is imperative that i make it clear that EVEN IF IT WAS TRUE THAT JESUS WAS FROM HEAVEN, THEN NO ONE LIVING NOW WOULD KNOW HIS COLOUR BECAUSE WE WERE NOT A PART OF THOSE WHO WERE THERE WITH HIM EITHER IN HEAVEN OR ON EARTH. And because most of what we have today about jesus were testimonies of his "desciple" and not much from"historical records", it is safer for us to conclude that he MAY have only lived on the pages of the holy books and that jesus MIGHT have been a scam.
As to my reference to "real" historians, just as we have quacks in every discipline, it is possible to have them among archeologists and historians. So when i made refence to real historians, i was talking about those who had the training, certified and who know how to carry out their works without taking short cuts because they want to favour some people or somebody.
If i may ask, the biblical accounts of jesus and others "you believe", how did you know its accounts are true? were you there?

Why did nature create just one sun for the entire earth and multiple suns for others? How did nature just "design" the earth such that it is JUST right for man:
To answer you I would say the earth did not and was not "designed" for man to live, rather, man adapted through evolution to the conditions of the earth. It took Millions or probalby billions of years for man to be able to adapt to living on earth.

1. Why do we have an oxygen concentration of 21% in the air but not 100%?
2. How has the moon maintained one single course over billions of yrs?
3. Why hasnt nature gone berserk and made drastic changes to the earth such as would place man in serious peril?
You seem to forget that Tsunamis, Earthquakes, natural disasters, , are natures way of "going bersek" and putting man in serious peril at one time or the other. It is possible that someday, the earth will no longer be or man may no longer find the earth suitable for accommodation. That is , evolution in action.

Why do you tell me to go to nature to learn then call me absurd when i ask you to go to the bible to learn? Is nature not a more abstract term?

Who is nature? where is she? Can you prove that she exists?
Why should i go to the bible when other "holy books" are begging for consideration? who authored thye bible, man or god?
