Why did Israel and Hamas go to war in July 2014?

The war was sparked by the June 10 murder of three young Israeli students.

Eyal Yifrah, Gilad Shaar, and Naftali Frenkel disappeared while in the West Bank, where they were studying at a yeshiva.

Israel conducted a massive manhunt in the Palestinian territory, alleging they were abducted by members of Hamas.

The boys were found dead on June 30th, apparently executed.

Israel responded to the deaths with a limited bombing campaign in Gaza against Hamas targets there, beginning the night of the boys were found. Palestinian militant groups (though, notably, not Hamas) in Gaza fired rockets into Israel.

There had been sporadic rocket fire throughout the crisis, but Hamas launched a wave of 40 rockets on July 8th, for which it claimed responsibility for the first time since 2012. Then Israel launched more strikes in Gaza, as part of what Netanyahu said was an effo

you forgot to mention the 7yrs old Palestinian burnt to death by Israel and another tortured with a video shown round the world. the world is not supporting Hamas, but why would Israel target vonurable people, women and children. Even after UN told them not attack schools with several plea, they never listen. Do you know how many people Israel have killed in Gaza, close to 2000 now and the casuallities in Israel is less than 100, well to me that is genocide..

He does not need to roar,bark,beat his chest or do anything to fight his battle. There is a supernatural hand (call it whatever name) upon this man and those who choose to fight him,most times end up picking a wrong battle. Ask, (IBB,Gusau,Buhari,Bukola Saraki,Atiku) and co. They came together like a heavy flood against GEJ and failed woefully.

Like a hurricane, Cyclone or Tornadoes, another group of people believe they can outdo him, they gathered and reason among themselves, "Let us come together and make him unpopular among the masses" They formed the APC, they villify GEJ by buying the media,creating insecurity by tactically supporting Boko haram, they call him clueless, clown,kindergarten President etc, and the so called 'clueless one' kept quite,biding his time and waiting for that same supernatural hand to do his thing.

And now, the APC built on false foundation is falling like a pack of cards in our very eyes. Ekiti gone,Adamawa gone, Nasarawa on the brink of going down.

Moral lesson,I will in my life time be very careful before I choose to fight anyone no matter how silly,clownish and poor they look.

Well, the last time i heard my president (GEJ) on last month presidential media chat, i lost my hope in leadership and politics in Nigeria.When the president was ask about corruption, his reply was funny and pathetic, he replied "sometimes some people term common stealing as corruption" well please don't quote me here its on youtube, if you want to know more the check you tube. So in a nutshell what do you expect from that type of president and government no check and balance, if opposition asked them question they always take it personal as if nobody should ask any question how are the things being done, some government official have started complaining that Nigeria is broke or FG is broke, when asked again he could not give a figure to counter the question, just talked about the bell he rang at NYSE that he was allowed to ring the bell because something is happening in Nigeria, even Obama confirmed that, Loool. So if you are expecting heaven to fall, about this Minister, i don't think he has that balls.
He needs to be more honest and sincere about his government, well posterity will judge everyone.
