Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه‏) said about,
هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِي
(guidance for the Muttaqin) that it means, “They are the believers who avoid Shirk with Allah and who work in His obedience.”
Ibn ‘Abbas also said that Al-Muttaqin means, “Those who fear Allah’s punishment, which would result if they abandoned the true guidance that they recognize and know. They also hope in Allah’s mercy by believing in what He revealed.”
[Tafsir Ibn Kathir, tafsir of Surah al-Baqarah, verse 2]

2. A man once asked Abu Hurayrah – (رضي الله عنه‏), “What is al-taqwa?”

He replied, “Have you ever taken a path filled with thorns?”
The man replied, “I have.”
Abu Hurayrah asked him, “What did you do?”

He replied, “When I saw a thorn I would dodge it or pass over it or behind it.”
Abu Hurayrah said, “That is al-taqwa.”

3. The taabi’ee Talq bin Habeeb said:
“If an ordeal appears amongst you extinguish it with taqwa.”

When asked what is taqwa, he replied:
“Taqwa is that you act in obedience to Allaah, and hope in His mercy, upon a light from Him; and taqwa is leaving acts of disobedience to Allaah out of fear of Him, upon a light from Him.”

That's not their primary job they should be judged on the strength of bills and oversight functions. The constituency projects is an avenue for fraud and financial misappropriation that constituency projects should be scrapped

If not that Nigeria is an upside-down society, is this the job of a senator? Monday was a senator before he contested for the governorship seat. Ideally what would've impacted more on his constituency is for him to sponsor bills that will translate to the betterment of the life of his people.

All those Senators collecting hundreds of millions as salaries & allowances, collecting billions as constituency allowances and sharing paltry sums to their loyalists in the name of constituency project will never take us anywhere. How many people can he even pay their hospital bills if he wants to?

What matters to the bulk of the electorate is what will touch their lives in general and not just a handful of people getting keke NAPEP, hairdryer, grinding machine, etc. in the name of constituency projects. They just use that nonsense to siphon money.

The House of Assembly members should be the ones bursting padded budgets which the executive arm of government submitted to them. That is also what they can do to touch the lives of the common man in order to ensure they have hope in this so-called democracy. Instead, they would rather add more paddings to the already padded budget.

If you don't bring constituency projects or share gifts your constituents will not vote for you in the election cycle unless you want to rig massively in that case you need state support which you may not get. I once argued the fact that legislators shouldn't be judged based off constituency projects in a discussion with some acquaintances it was as if I was speaking to a choir they didn't want to hear any of it.
