TROOPS DISMANTLE SUICIDE BOMBING NETWORK, INTERCEPT TERRORISTS’ LOGISTICS IN ADAMAWA

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded significant operational successes in Adamawa State, continuing intensified cordon-and-search operations targeting perpetrators and facilitators of the Gamboru Market Mosque suicide bombing.

Following sustained surveillance on identified locations, OPHK troops executed a coordinated cordon-and-search operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area in the early hours of 5 January 2026. Eight suspects were apprehended, including two principal suspects believed to be key facilitators within the suicide bombing network.

A search of the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, jewellery, and other personal effects, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis to support ongoing investigations. During identification procedures, a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as individuals who supplied materials used in preparing the Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Additional occupants of the residence were also linked to the network.

All suspects remain in military custody, undergoing detailed interrogation to facilitate further intelligence recovery before being transferred for continued investigation.

In a related development, OPHK troops intercepted a large consignment of suspected terrorists’ logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State on 4 January 2026. The troops seized 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), with a total volume of approximately 1,125 litres, suspected to have been smuggled for terrorist use.

The suppliers reportedly fled upon sighting the troops, abandoning the petroleum products, which are now in military custody pending further action. The operation was conducted without incident, and no casualties were recorded.

These operations underscore OPHK’s unwavering resolve to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt logistics and supply chains, prevent future attacks, and bring all perpetrators and collaborators of terrorism to justice. Headquarters OPHK continues to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, as public support remains critical to sustaining security across the North East region.

I have directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the DSS to hunt down the terrorists behind the Kasuwan Daji attack and ensure they are brought swiftly to justice.

These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. In addition, those who aid, abet, or enable them will also be brought to justice.

I have also directed that all abducted victims be urgently rescued and that security operations around vulnerable communities, especially near forests, be intensified.

These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them and deny them any sanctuary.

We must reclaim peace for these attacked communities.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

TROOPS FOIL BANDITS’ MOVEMENT, NEUTRALIZE CRIMINALS AND ARREST LOGISTICS SUPPLIER IN COORDINATED OPERATIONS IN KOGI STATE

Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army Lokoja on 3 January 2026 have recorded significant operational successes following coordinated fighting patrols and ambush operations conducted across parts of Kabba Bunu and Yagba West Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

Acting on credible intelligence on movement of bandits from Adankolo general area towards Agbadu Bunu in Kabba Bunu LGA, troops swiftly deployed and laid a deliberate ambush at bandit identified crossing point. The bandits subsequently ran into the troops’ ambush position and were engaged, forcing them to withdraw with indications of casualties as blood stains were observed during exploitation of the area. In the course of the encounter, troops neutralized two bandits and recovered one AK 47 rifle, one magazine, ninety nine rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one locally fabricated gun and eleven cartridges.

In a related development, further intelligence revealed movement of bandits around Saminaka village in Yagba West LGA. Troops, in conjunction with local vigilantes, conducted a fighting patrol to the village and adjoining forested areas. On arrival, the village was observed to have been deserted, prompting troops to dismount and exploit the surrounding forest and routes leading towards the Saminaka Sabo Rijiya road. Troops made contact with an unconfirmed number of bandits and engaged them, leading to their withdrawal through the forest. During subsequent exploitation, troops traced the withdrawal route and discovered one neutralized bandit, one AK 47 rifle and seventeen rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

During the same operation, troops also arrested a suspected bandit logistics supplier identified as Sunday Adedotun, from Odo Eri village in Yagba West LGA. The suspect was apprehended on a farmland within Saminaka village and claimed to assist farmers in transporting produce after harvest. Items discovered at the settlement included cartons of energy and soft drinks, bottled water and harvested farm produce. The suspect is currently in custody undergoing investigation.

The series of operations underscores the sustained pressure being mounted by troops against criminal elements within the area and their support networks.

The Commander 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi commended the troops for their professionalism, courage and timely response to credible intelligence, noting that their actions reflect the high level of commitment to duty. He further assured the public that troops will continue to sustain aggressive patrols, ambushes and intelligence driven operations to deny criminal elements freedom of action within the area.

The bombings on Venezuelan territory and the capture of its president cross an unacceptable line. These acts represent a most serious affront to Venezuela's sovereignty and yet another extremely dangerous precedent for the entire international community.

Attacking countries, in flagrant violation of international law, is the first step toward a world of violence, chaos, and instability, where the law of the strongest prevails over multilateralism.

The condemnation of the use of force is consistent with the position that Brazil has always adopted in recent situations in other countries and regions.

The action recalls the worst moments of interference in the politics of Latin America and the Caribbean and threatens the preservation of the region as a zone of peace.

The international community, through the United Nations, needs to respond vigorously to this episode. Brazil condemns these actions and remains available to promote the path of dialogue and cooperation.

Troops recover cache of 12.7mm ammunition in Maiduguri

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recovered a large cache of high-calibre 12.7mm ammunition in the Bulumkutu Railway general area of Maiduguri, Borno State.

Sources said that the recovery followed sustained, intelligence-led security operations and follow-up actions after recent cordon-and-search activities aimed at denying criminal and terrorist elements freedom of action.

Military sources said the discovery was made at about 3:00 p.m. on Friday, following a distress call by residents who reported suspicious metallic objects inside a drainage channel in the area.

Troops, alongside Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, immediately mobilised to the location to secure the environment and assess the situation.

A thorough search of the drainage channel led to the recovery of 1,270 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition warheads, including some live 12.7mm rounds, as well as power banks concealed within the channel.

Preliminary measures were taken to secure the site, while efforts were ongoing to drain water from the channel to determine whether additional dangerous items were hidden in the area.

Security sources said troops, in collaboration with the police and other security agencies, had continued to dominate the general area to safeguard residents, protect critical infrastructure and prevent any attempt by criminal or terrorist elements to retrieve the recovered items.

No casualties or unusual incidents were recorded during the operation, and the security situation in the area was described as calm, though vigilance remained high.

The recovery, according to OPHK, underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations, sustained military pressure and community cooperation, particularly in the aftermath of recent operations in which several suspected suicide bombers were neutralised or arrested.

The military again urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious items or movements to security agencies, stressing that community support remained critical to sustaining peace and security in the North-East.

Army arrests key coordinator of Maiduguri mosque bombing

By: Zagazola Makama

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have identified and arrested Shariff Umar, also known as Yusuf, as the key coordinator of a suicide bombing network responsible for recent attacks and attempted attacks in the North-East.

The Army disclosed this in a statement on Friday, following intelligence-led cordon-and-search operations conducted at the Kalmari area of Maiduguri on Dec. 31, 2025.

According to the statement, the operation led to the arrest of 14 suspects linked to suicide bombing activities, with subsequent investigations uncovering the structure, roles and operational linkages of the terror cell.

It said a suspected suicide bomber currently in custody, Ibrahim Muhammad, identified Shariff Umar as the ringleader who recruited, prepared and dispatched suicide bombers to assigned targets.

“Consistent and corroborated statements revealed that Shariff Umar coordinated logistics and the delivery of improvised explosive device (IED) components for suicide attacks,” the statement said.

The Army said investigations further established that Umar directly coordinated the suicide bombing at the Gamboru Market Mosque on Dec. 24, 2025, in which his accomplice, identified as Adamu, detonated a suicide vest and died in the process.

He was also linked to the foiled suicide bombing attempt in Damaturu, having personally handed over IED components to the would-be bomber in Maiduguri, the statement added.

The Army said further intelligence revealed the involvement of Umar’s wife, Yagana Modu, while his stepdaughter, Amina, confirmed seeing the suspected bomber within their residence prior to the attack.

“These findings exposed the domestic and community-based concealment methods employed by terrorist facilitators,” it said.

It said all suspects remained in custody and were undergoing intensive investigations to dismantle the network, identify additional collaborators and recover any remaining explosives or logistics.

The Army stressed that the breakthrough underscored the importance of cooperation between security agencies and the civilian population, noting that terrorist networks often survive by hiding within communities.

It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to security agencies, adding that sustained cooperation was critical to preventing attacks and restoring lasting peace in the region.

One Friday in August, Daily Mail Sport was at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground and a tad early for that day’s press conference when we bumped into Enzo Maresca in the car park.

Maresca had pulled up in his Mercedes people carrier and was with his son, who was a polite young man in wishing us a good morning and asking how we were.

We jokingly asked Maresca if this was his newest signing. He looked the part, after all. Young, and already wearing a club tracksuit. ‘Yes!’ Maresca replied. ‘It’s my new centre back!’

BREAKING: MILITARY NEUTRALIZES SUICIDE BOMBERS, FOILS ATTACK IN BORNO

A major catastrophe was averted in Borno State today as troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, neutralized three suicide bombers and several armed escorts during a high-stakes operation in Gwoza Local Government Area.
The operation was carried out along the Guduf–Pulka axis following actionable intelligence that indicated the movement of suicide bombers toward civilian-populated areas.
Acting on the information, military forces, in collaboration with local volunteer groups, mounted a covert surveillance and tracking mission. This led to the successful interception of the terrorists before they could reach their intended targets.
According to military sources, the suicide bombers were engaged and neutralized in a controlled encounter, preventing what could have resulted in mass civilian casualties. The troops also engaged the armed terrorists escorting the bombers, inflicting heavy casualties and forcing the surviving elements to flee toward the Mandara Mountains under sustained fire.
Following the encounter, troops recovered suicide vests and various Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components. These materials were immediately secured and rendered safe by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams. Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles abandoned by the fleeing insurgents, while two motorcycles used for logistics were destroyed.
Preliminary intelligence assessments reveal that the bombers were dispatched from hideouts in the Mandara Mountains by the Ali Ngulde-led Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram. The faction has continued to attempt the deployment of suicide operatives against soft targets despite ongoing military pressure.
In response to the foiled plot, the Theatre Command has intensified operations across known terrorist enclaves, focusing on detecting and neutralizing suicide networks through a combination of human intelligence and communication intercepts.
Authorities have also strengthened collaboration with community-based volunteer groups and other security agencies across Borno and Yobe States to prevent infiltration. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or movements to the nearest security post.

Troops clear terrorist enclaves, neutralise IEDs in Sambisa offensive

By: Zagazola Makama

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have cleared several terrorist enclaves and neutralised multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs during an ongoing offensive into the Sambisa Forest axis of Borno State.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation, conducted under Operation Desert Sanity V, involved troops of 21 Special Armoured Brigade (SAB) and 26 Task Force Brigade, operating in conjunction with vigilante forces.

According to the source, the troops departed their Harbour Area at about 9:20 a.m. on Dec. 31, and conducted clearance operations along designated withdrawal routes within the Sambisa axis.

“The troops successfully cleared the terrorist enclaves of Garin Kago, Garin Alhaji Bita and Garin Malam Muazu during the operation,” the source said.

The areas were described as active terrorist locations; however, the insurgents reportedly fled before the arrival of the advancing troops.

“Despite the terrorists’ withdrawal, several life-support structures within the enclaves were identified and destroyed in line with operational guidelines,” the source added.

During the withdrawal phase, troops encountered three buried IEDs, which were promptly detonated in situ by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team without incident.

The troops later returned safely to Brigade Headquarters at about 4:45 p.m., while casualties recorded during the operation were immediately evacuated to the 7 Division Medical Hospital for further medical attention.

The operation forms part of sustained efforts by Operation Hadin Kai to degrade terrorist networks, dismantle logistics bases and deny insurgents freedom of movement within the Sambisa Forest and surrounding areas.

NIGERIAN ARMY POUNDS TERRORIST IN NATIONWIDE OFFENSIVE, NEUTRALIZES 47

The Nigerian Army has recorded major operational successes across several theatres of operation within the last 72 hours, neutralising 47 terrorists, arresting 19 criminal suspects, rescuing over 30 kidnapped victims and recovering a cache of arms, ammunition and other logistics.

These coordinated land and air operations underscore the Nigerian Army’s sustained offensive against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements threatening national security.

In the North West and North Central regions, troops conducted aggressive ground operations based on credible intelligence. In Sokoto State, troops from forward operating bases in Binji and Tangaza Local Government Areas (LGAs) neutralised three Lakurawa terrorists during successful ambushes, recovering one AK-47 rifle, a motorcycle, communication radios, mobile phones and other items. Similarly, in Niger State, troops engaged armed terrorists on motorcycles in Munya LGA, neutralising one terrorist and recovering weapons, ammunition, communication equipment and logistics.

In Zamfara State, sustained fighting patrols by troops in Anka and Maru LGAs disrupted terrorist activities, neutralised two terrorists, destroyed their hideouts and rescued civilians who had sustained gunshot wounds. While in Kaduna State, troops’ interventions in Sanga and Zango Kataf LGAs foiled armed robbery and kidnapping attempts, rescued victims and led to the arrest of suspected cattle rustlers. Items recovered included a fabricated rifle, ammunition and rustled livestock. Similar successes were recorded in Plateau State, where troops arrested three cattle rustling suspects in Barkin Ladi and Wase LGAs, recovering motorcycles, knives, mobile phones and cash.

Operations in the South-South and South-East zones also yielded notable results. In Rivers State, troops thwarted planned illegal activities along the Cawthorne Channel in Degema LGA, arresting two suspects and recovering tools intended for sabotage. In Delta State, troops uncovered two wooden boats conveying about 1,700 litres of stolen crude oil, dealing a significant blow to economic sabotage. In Imo State, one suspect linked to the shooting of a civilian was arrested and handed over to the Nigerian Police for further investigation.

In the Federal Capital Territory, an anti-illegal mining operation in Gwagwalada led to the arrest of 11 suspects and the recovery of a motorcycle and petroleum products.
Meanwhile, the Air Component of ongoing operations delivered decisive strikes against terrorist enclaves in the North East. Precision air strikes on confirmed ISWAP/JAS logistics bases and convergence points in Borno State neutralised at least 42 terrorists, with secondary explosions confirming the destruction of weapons and explosives stockpiles. Follow-on strikes targeted fleeing terrorists and additional gatherings, further degrading their command, logistics and fighting capability.

Across the various theatres, Nigerian Army troops rescued over 30 kidnapped victims, including women and children. The victims were safely evacuated, provided with medical attention where required and reunited with their families. Recovered items included AK-47 rifles, magazines, ammunition, communication radios, motorcycles, mobile phones and other logistics vital to criminal operations.

The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu continues to emphasise intelligence-driven, joint and people-centric operations aimed at protecting lives, property and critical national assets. The Nigerian Army reassures the public of its commitment to sustaining offensive momentum, working closely with sister services and other security agencies and consolidating gains until lasting peace and security are achieved nationwide. The continued support and cooperation of law-abiding citizens remain vital to achieving this collective objective.

Bismillah

In the year 2020, upon completing the memorization of Kutub Sittah, I was overtaken by a desire to compose a poem to extol the boundless grace of Allah, to express sincere gratitude to my venerable Sheikhs; Sheikh Sulayman, Sheikh Genrada(May Allah forgive his soul), Sheikh Abu Hafs, and to modestly acknowledge my own perseverance and toil in the path of hadith.

In preparation for this, I sought to deepen my knowledge about the compilers of the 6 canonical works: Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasaaiyy, and Ibn Majah.

To my astonishment, I discovered that every one of these luminaries, from Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim to the remaining 4 were non-arabs. None of them hailed from the noble tribes of Arabia, yet they rose to preserve the very heart of the Sunnah for posterity.

It was at that moment the reality of Allah’s words became clear:

وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوا أَمْثَالَكُمْ

“And if you turn away, He will replace you with another people; then they will not be the likes of you.”

If the Arabs were to turn aside, or become deluded into imagining themselves inherently privileged, Allah could and did raise others, from distant lands and foreign tongues, to safeguard and disseminate His religion.

This realization shattered the illusion of any racial custodianship over Islam. It is not by lineage, language, or geography that one becomes a guardian of this faith, but solely through devotion, striving, and piety.

This truth is corroborated by the timeless saying of the Prophet, narrated by Jaabir bn Abdillah:

يا أيها الناس إن ربكم واحد ألا لا فضل لعربي على عجمي ولا لعجمي على عربي ولا لأحمر على أسود ولا لأسود على أحمر إلا بالتقوى إن أكرمكم عند الله اتقاكم

“O people, indeed your Lord is One. There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab, nor for a white over a black, nor for a black over a white, except through piety. Indeed, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the most God-fearing of you.”

Thus, the legacy of the Kutub Sittah stands as an eternal testimony that Islam transcends ethnicity and geography, affirming that honor lies not in ancestry but in taqwa.

So if any donkey thinks non-arabs learn the religion from them, they are drinking soar zobo from their Dubur. Jibreel Jokomba

TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE FOIL KIDNAPPING ATTEMPT ON OTUKPO–ENUGU EXPRESSWAY, RESCUE PASSENGERS

Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE have foiled a kidnapping attempt along the Otukpo–Enugu Expressway in Benue State, rescuing several passengers and forcing the assailants to flee.

The incident occurred on 22 December 2025 at about 10:00pm following a distress call, prompting troops on routine patrol to mobilise swiftly to the Amoda axis in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State. The armed criminals had emerged from the bush and briefly occupied an existing checkpoint. The assailants subsequently stopped two 18-seater commercial buses travelling from Jos, Plateau State, to Ibadan, Oyo State, and attempted to abduct all passengers; however, the timely intervention of troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE led to a firefight that compelled the kidnappers to abandon their victims and flee into the bush. In the initial encounter, 15 passengers were rescued and handed over to Nigerian Police Division, Otukpo, while six adults and four minors were declared missing, however, subsequent operations led to the rescue of additional five adults and all four minors now in custody of the Police Area Command, Otukpo, with search efforts ongoing to locate the remaining missing passenger.

Commenting on the development, the Force Commander Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their prompt response and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Task Force unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property within its Area of Responsibility, stressing that sustained offensive operations, intelligence-led patrols, and coordinated engagements with sister security agencies would continue to deny criminal elements freedom of action.

Major General Moses Gara, extends warm Christmas and Yuletide greetings to all Christian faithful within the Joint Operations Area, covering Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States. He prays that the season brings God’s abundant mercy, peace, and enduring joy to families and communities. The Force Commander urges all believers to remain united, to shun all forms of violence, and to live by the noble virtues exemplified by the Lord Jesus Christ of love, humility, tolerance, and compassion as a prerequisite for shared prosperity throughout the festive period and beyond.

Theflint1:
This is the man they say Nigerians should rally around and support his cry for a monopoly...volume no increase, but revenue dey increase by 42% from previous year.

"Dangote has achieved EBITDA margin of 59% in Nigeria, compared with global cement giants like Holcim (24% margin), Cemex (19%), Heidelberg (26%), Ambuja (19%), and Anhui Conch (23%)."
Why are companies declaring more profits with lower sales volume?

This pattern is not “economic recovery.” It’s price-led profit, not volume-led growth.

1. Aggressive price increases
•Inflation + FX devaluation forced companies to reprice hard
•Cement, FMCGs, fuel, food - prices went up multiple times
•Even if you sell less, each unit now brings in far more naira

In the image:
Volumes ↓ 2.1%
Revenue ↑ 23%
That gap = price hikes

2. Naira devaluation inflates “profits”
•Earnings are reported in naira
•FX collapse makes naira revenue look huge, even when real value hasn’t improved
•If costs are partially fixed or lag FX, margins expand artificially

This is accounting profit, not purchasing-power profit

3. Cost pass-through + cost cutting
•Companies passed almost all cost increases to consumers
while simultaneously:
•Cutting staff
•Reducing marketing
•Shutting marginal SKUs
•Centralizing operations

Result?
Higher EBITDA margins on lower volumes

4. Market concentration & weak competition
•Many consumers are “captive”
•Cement, food staples, fuel = inelastic demand
•People complain but still buy

When competition is weak, volume doesn’t matter as much as pricing power

5. Nigeria’s “profit illusion”
What we’re seeing is:
•Nominal profit ↑
•Real consumption ↓
•Household purchasing power ↓

So companies LOOK healthy…
But the economy underneath is shrinking

⚠️ Why this is dangerous
•It’s not sustainable
•At some point:
- Demand cracks
- Substitutes appear
- Smuggling increases
- Informal markets grow

Bottom line
These profits are not proof of recovery.
They are proof of:
•Inflation
•FX shock
•Pricing power
•Weak competition
•Consumers absorbing the pain

📌 Real recovery is higher volumes + stable margins
📌 What we have is lower volumes + inflated margins

Two very different stories.
