It’s happened - big move as Tinubu suspends CBN governor Emefiele. Paves the way for Nigeria to converge exchange rates, the undervalued BDC parallel rate and very overvalued NAFEX rate. Around NGN650-700 is the average rate of the naira over the past 26 years (in 2023 NGN terms) Following on from fuel subsidy removal, a NGN at 650-700 means far more naira for the budget from selling oil. That means the government does not have borrow as much, just to pay interest on debt. Impressive amount of reform in a very short period What’s particularly interesting to me is that we’ve ended up with the policies that markets hoped for from both the other candidates. Nigeria’s political leaders all recognised that previous policies were unsustainable. Not sure that’s ever been the case in Argentina? Over a quarter of all Nigeria’s revenues from tax and other sources was expected to be spent just paying interest on debt. As this rises, it increases default risk. Tinubu’s changes are reducing default risk (assuming we see NGN/$ convergence at a realistic level) Charlie Robertson (@RencapMan) |
President Tinubu has demonstrated an impressive level of assertiveness so far. He put an end to the DSS vs EFCC street fight with just one command. He persuaded the NLC and TUC to suspend their planned strike. He convinced striking health workers to resume work. He got oil marketers to align with his post-subsidy plan. He invited the willing opposition to the table. And now, the mastermind behind Nigeria's serially disastrous monetary experiments is on the ropes. The story would have been different before May 29 because the DSS and EFCC would have been allowed to descend into a brawl, the organized labour would have been allowed to do their worst, oil marketers would have been mocked and criticized in poorly-drafted press statements, and Meffy would have been given a second medal for his supposed genius interventions that fixed nothing. I pray that this trend continues. Overall, this is a good start! Gimba Kakanda |
In all that you do make sure you use your head else you'll be the fall-guy when things go wrong. May Nigeria succeed |
An Inter 5-1-2-2 build-up shape presents Pep with a pressing structure dilemma. He either presses with a front 3, drops KDB onto Brozović & pushes his full-backs onto Inter’s wing-backs which then leaves City CBs 2v2 with Inter’s strikers (Lautaro-Lukaku are sharp on the turn). Or sticks with his 4-2-4 press with KDB-Haaland pressing Inter’s back 3 and then one of the Rodri-Gundo pivot being dragged up to close down Brozović, which could leave the half-spaces more open for Inter’s 8s and 9s to penetrate. It is not the nicest tactical match-up on paper for City. Premier League Panel |

If you put your leg inside keg of gunpowder and the thing explode u have yourself to blame. You're always inventing things to suit your preconceived notions, change your thought process and you'll be better for it |
When you are contesting for an elective post dont play to your, strength especially against a formidable opponent. It is like telling a guy to lower his guard in a hostile environment and still remain there, whatever happens to such an individual is solely his fault |

213 goals/assists in 226 starts since the start of the 2018/19 season. Whilst other young attackers were developing and other big money attackers flopped, Benzema ensured Real Madrid’s status as a giant of the game was maintained in the post-Ronaldo era. Legendary stuff. Premier League Panel |

Shaykh Oasis you went off tangent with your no palliative remark people are already stretched financially, mentally and socially adding this removal to their burden with measures to cushion the effects is a recipe for disaster. You shouldn't have rubbed it in with that comment of yours, it is unwise to say such |

Chelsea remain in pole position for Manuel Ugarte, but their first salary proposal of around €3million a year did not please Ugarte. The player, who earns around €450k per season at Sporting wants a salary equal to or close to €5m offered by PSG. {JN Desporto} |
