A young man almost committed suicide in my compound the other day if not for God's intervention. That brought me to this topic. I have not ceased to wonder what goes on in the minds of people that see suicide as the best solution to their problems. Do they think that committing suicide will end their problems or give them rest from the problems of this life? What a delusion and a lie of the devil! The ironic thing about suicide is that while trying to escape from the TEMPORAL problems of this world, the person is entering into an ETERNAL problem. A suffering that has no end compared to the suffering or problems of this world that you are sure to still come out of it one day, because every problem has an expiry date. Anyone that takes his or her life is straightly going to hell, there are no two ways about that. And it doesn't matter whether you believe in the existence of hell or not. Your refusal to believe that there's hell does not change the fact of its existence. You will only find out to your dismay when you leave this world that you are doomed to suffer for eternity in hell. What is that problem that makes you think that taking your life is the best way out of it? There's no problem in this universe that God cannot deliver anyone from, no matter how big you think it is. A God that created an express road in the red sea and made a way of escape for His children, is there any problem he cannot create a way of escape from? A God that did not allow the 3 Hebrew youths to be burnt by fire when they were thrown into the fire, is there any circumstance He cannot deliver anyone from? And so many other examples. The only duty you have is to surrender your life totally to Him, and TRUST Him completely with all your heart. Follow Him and serve Him with all your heart. Don't look for a solution to your problem elsewhere apart from Him. Believe me, He will surely come to your rescue and help you out of that problem you think you cannot come out from. Dear brother or sister, suicide is not, and can never be a solution to your problem, rather it's an express road to eternal suffering in hell. A word is enough for the wise. 1 Like |

A very pathetic incident happened in 1 Kings chapter 13. A man of God was told by God to go and prophesy against the altar Jeroboam had set up in Bethel, he was given instructions from God not to eat or drink anything there, nor return by the same way which he came. But what happened? An old prophet came and told him that the Lord has told him to bring him to his house so that he can eat bread and drink water, but he lied to him. He followed him, disregarding what he originally heard from God, and not even bothering to ask God if He is truly the one that sent the old prophet. But as he was eating and drinking, the Lord now truly spoke through the old prophet and told him that because he has disobeyed the voice of the Lord, and have come back to eat and drink where he was told not to eat or drink, his body shall not come to grave of his fathers. Of course a lion met him on his way back and slew him. What a great lesson for Christians! We often depend on "my pastor told me", "that prophet told me that God said this or that" What about you? What has God told you? Some that are even sure they heard clearly from God still abandon what God has told them and follow the one their pastor or prophet told them, without even bothering to ask God if He's truly the one that gave that message to the prophet. If God has changed that thing he told you before, let Him tell you, before you leave what God has told you and start doing what your prophet told you that God said. "My pastor/prophet said" has led many people completely out of the will of God for their lives. Even in marriage, you hear people say "my pastor/prophet said that that man or that lady is my husband/wife". But what did God tell you? Note that some pastors/prophets lie in the name of the Lord today just like the old prophet did. They can be influenced by money to tell you what you want to hear or tell you that 'God said' when God has not said. I'm not saying everything your pastor or prophet says is not from God, some of them are truly from God because there are still true prophets, but also learn to hear from God yourself, so you wont fall a victim of false prophesy. God speaks to people in different ways, and if you exercise your inner man to discern His voice, you will know when He's speaking to you. He also speaks through His Word, just like when you are studying the Bible and a particular verse that addresses your situation keep ringing in your heart, that's God speaking to you too. |

You have a housegirl/houseboy and you have children also. Your housegirl/boy does something bad, and you beat him or her, almost killing the child. Your own children does same thing or even a worse thing, and you overlook them. Sister what are you doing? You are training up another man's child and spoiling your own, and that is foolishness, not wisdom or love as you think. Even among your children, you beat the one you hate all the time and leave the ones you think you love. Sister that is foolishness. A child you love is even the one you should correct so that he or she wont go the wrong way and become a better better person in future. That is why the Bible said that whom the Lord loves, He chastises. If it takes beating, punishment, correction by words etc, do it for the sake of that child's future and for your own good too, because if that child grows up to become wayward or a menace to the society, you will still be the one to suffer it. That beating will not kill him or her, neither will the child cry blood. Prov 23:13 says "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die." Its better for that child to cry now and become a better person in the future than for you to cry in future because of his or her waywardness. Parenthood is a call to duty, not just being responsible for their birth, but also being responsible for their good upbringing. Many parents are in sorrow today because of their failure to do their duty as parents when their children were still young. They thought they loved the child and doesn't want to hurt the child or make the child see them as wicked parents. But they never knew they were preparing the child to hurt them, hurt his or herself and the society at large. "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he's old, he will not depart from it." (Prov 22:6) |

A woman had an only child, a daughter whom she really loves, and they enjoy each other's company a lot. Even after a stressful day, she always looks forward to spending time with her. Just seeing her and talking with her gives her joy. They were best of friends. There was something she kept demanding from her mother, and she gave it to her out of the love she has for her. The child was so happy and appreciative of the gift, and the mother was also happy seeing her child happy. But all of a sudden, the gift began to turn the child away from her mother; she no longer gets to enjoy the company of the child like before, the child no longer does any house chore, she now keeps to her room most of the time, always preoccupied with the gift. They even hardly see each other let alone spending happy time together like before. Though the woman was happy that her child is happy and enjoying the gift, but she felt so sad that the gift has created a vacuum in their relationship. That is how some of the gifts God has given us has succeeded in severing our relationship with Him because we are always preoccupied with it. It has even turned some away completely from God. Dear friend, what has God given you that is taking you away from Him? Is it that job, husband, wife, car, children, phone, etc. #Checkuptime |

Cain married his sister. the bible does not count women when counting genealogies, so Adam and Eve could have given birth to daughters but they were not recorded because the bible doesn't count women when giving genealogies. And the earth was repopulated through Noah and his sons. Read Genesis 8: 16-17 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee. Please reflect on this. It could happen to anyone I COULD HAVE DIED ON MY WAY TO DUBAI a few days ago but God used my elder brother(a pharmacist) to save my life. I became very busy few days to my trip. In fact, I was so busy to the extent of not being active @EGS. I guess that was the reason I prepared watermelon 24 hours before I left Nigeria for Dubai. I kept the watermelon in the fridge overnight but there was no regular electricity to power the refrigerator. The watermelon was to be my lunch at the airport. The fruit was in good condition when I left home for the airport. I got to the airport, checked in and sat somewhere to eat my lunch. The trouble started few hours after the plane took off. I became uncomfortable. My stomach was very hot and I got the first symptom of food poisoning. I checked my bag several times for flagyl(metronidazole) but couldn't find it. My elder brother who is a pharmacist told me several years ago that I must never leave my house without metronidazole especially when travelling because food poisoning can happen anytime and it kills faster than anything. He told me metronidazole (flagyl) is the most important thing after taking my international passport. We lost a Nigerian minister to food poisoning on his way back to the country sometimes ago. A friend lost her husband to food poisoning when he went for Hajj so I know how important a medication that is cheaper than 500 naira can save a soul. I became very worried when I couldn't find the flagyl. I started asking the cabin crew for water but the problem became deadlier per second. I told them I needed a medication to fight food poisoning but they had none. I started stooling and the urge to throw up became very strong. I was on my way back to the rest room when I lost my balance. I fell down, was farting uncontrollably and needed to use the toilet. I couldn't stand up. They had to place me on oxygen. That was when I remember that whenever I'm looking for something and couldn't find it, all I need to do is to take a deep and think more properly. So I said "Holy Spirit,my great companion, my senior friend,Please help me find my flagyl,I'm sure I left home with it",,,,in less than 2 mins, I was made to remember vividly how and when I kept the flagyl in my bag,,,, So I started shouting and begging the cabin crew to,,,,PLEASE, GET ME MY BAG which they did. I asked one of them to turn the bag upside down and to the glory of God the flagyl was there on the floor. I quickly asked for water and took 800mg of metronidazole instead of 400mg. It works like magic. The storm calmed and the battle was over in less than 15mins. I made sure I didn't eat anything till I got to my destination. It was a day I won't forget in a hurry. I have been in London for 2 days now,,,,, and l still find it difficult to use the toilet because I took an overdose of metronidazole. I will have to take cucumber throughout today to take care of constipation.## Dear friends, Please,make sure you have flagyl with you whenever you're travelling. Food poisoning kills faster than you can ever think or imagine. It doesn't have to be watermelon, it could be rice, beans,biscuits or any contaminated food. Please share. 1 Like |

Please my Atheist friends that said there's no God, I sincerely have some questions that are bugging my mind, which I will like to get some answers from you if possible. �How did this first heaven that we are seeing come to be? You can call it the cloud if you like, and the things that are in it; the stars, the moon and other planets. Did it just appear on its own and hanged there without falling? If yes, when did it appear ? and what is holding it for it not to fall, where are the pillars? �How did this earth and everything in it come to be? the trees, animals, oceans and so many other things, apart from the ones that were made by man, like cars, houses, etc. And finally, �How did human beings come to be? Did one man and one woman suddenly appear and started multiplying? If you say they evolved from animals like apes, who created the animals? Did the animals, come out from stones or from the ground? And how did the ground they came out from even come to be? How possible is it for an animal to start forming into a human being and completely turn into a human being? And why are there still apes today? why didn't all of them evolve into human beings? Why is it that when apes give birth today, they still give birth to apes, and when human beings give birth, they give birth to human beings? If it's apes or chimpanzee as some claim that evolved into human beings, why don't their offsprings today look like human beings when they are born? Or are the ones that alive now still going to evolve later?� Are there also black and white apes? That is, white people and black people? I thought all apes have one colour. And are there also beautiful apes and ugly ones? That's why some people are beautiful and some are ugly? I also thought all apes have one facial structure? How come people have different facial structures? If you say there's no God that is the Creator of heaven and earth and everything that is therein, please tell me how these things came about because I'm confused about your belief. 1 Like 1 Share |

And the Bible said that even looking at a woman or man lustfully, you have already committed fornication with the person in your heart, talk more of when you are romancing yourself. What is salvation? Salvation means being saved from danger or from anything evil. We may not know that living in sin is the most dangerous thing anyone can be involved in. But Jesus has delivered us from that coming danger by bearing our sins and dying in our place so that we are now saved from the destruction that awaits sinners. The only thing we need to do is to recognize, believe and accept by faith the saving work Jesus did on the cross for mankind and you will be saved. That is the only way to be saved. No one can ever get salvation or come to God through any other way apart from Jesus. "And Jesus said unto him, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by Me" (John 14:6). And the Bible also said "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there's no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12) If you are going through any other way, hoping to be saved or come to God through that way, then you have actually missed your way, and the best thing is to retrace your steps to the right way before it becomes too late. If you are still living in sin, Jesus is calling you today to forsake your sins and accept His offer of salvation and be saved from the dangers of sin. |

The rate of divorce in the world today is becoming so alarming, even among Christians. Why do some Christians still see divorce and remarrying as the right action to take when a marriage is not working, when the Bible is very clear on that? Luke 16:18 says "Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery: and whoever marries her that is divorced from her husband commits adultery", Mark 10:11-12 says, So he said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her". "And if a woman divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery". So how come that even Pastors that preach the gospel divorce their spouses and marry another? Is it that those portions of the bible are not really part of the bible? Why do some Christians only claim the blessings and the favourable parts of the bible and disregard the ones that do not favour them? If you believe that any part of the bible is true, then you must believe that the bible as a whole is true, if not, that means that even the favourable ones you claim are equally not true. But the word of God is true and He cannot change His word because of anyone. As a Christian, if you must divorce your spouse, then remain unmarried, otherwise, you are committing adultery. It's the bible that said it, not me. That's why one needs to be careful before jumping into marriage. |

otipoju:When I say Christianity is not a religion, I mean its not all about playing religion, i.e being religious. A religious person goes to church, can even be a worker in the church, but if that person does not obey the word of God or the teachings of Christ as a Christian, then the person is just being religious, not really a Christian. So Christianity may be categorised as one of the religions we have, but it's more of transformation of one's character than going to church, or claiming to be a Christian by mouth. Christianity is not a religion. A religion can only inform you, but can never transform you. Christianity is a transformation that happens in the heart of a man which manifests in his character, making him or her detest sin and live a Christlike life, (a life that pleases God). That's why such a person is called a Christian, not merely the ritual of going to church, otherwise the Pharisees and Sadducees would have also been addressed as Christians because they go to Church more than anybody else, they are even the leaders of the church. A religion can not transform a robber, a prostitute, a native doctor and generally, a sinner from his or her evil ways. It's only an encounter with Jesus that can transform such a person's life and make him turn a new leaf. Just like Saul's encounter with Jesus turned him completely into a new person character-wise. When you see anyone that is truly a Christian, it manifests in his or her character, that is when you can correctly say 'this is a Christian' not because he or she claims to be a Christian or goes to church. The character of Christ is what distinguishes a Christian from a religious person. The disciples of Jesus were first called Christians in Antioch because of the Christlike life people saw them living. The question is, are you a Christian or are you practicing religion? |

I saw a post somewhere of a man bewailing his losses and downfall since he got married to his wife due to some powers using her to pull him down. Someone may be a born again christian, but you don't know what spiritual forces are fighting against him or her, (which will also fight you when you enter the family) or the family background where the person is coming from. People have gotten into problems they never imagined they would find themselves, some didn't even live to tell their story just because they never bothered to ask God about the person they want to marry, or were blinded by love, or maybe they rejected the choice God made for them. That's why we dont need to marry because someone is beautiful, handsome, rich or because we are in love. Marriage is way deeper than physical qualities, possessions or feelings. Seek the face of God, let Him guide you as you make your choice of who to marry. He can never mislead you. Even if the person has a bad background or has a problem spiritually and you get a 'go ahead' from God after praying, then you have done your part, God will handle whatever comes your way there. |

He's just being patient with the world, so that men can come to repentance. But do you know that anyone that dies now, his own Jesus has come? because there's no more chance for repentance for such a person. What will you do when you grow old and die and then you found out there's heaven and there's hell, but you did not prepare for heaven. Where do you think you will find yourself?
