Hi guys,

I was recently awarded the PTDF scholarship which I applied and was interviewed for in 2020. Destination of choice is Germany. However, I've recently travelled to Norway to start an M.Sc. program in Structural Engineering at the University of Stavanger.

Please, I'd like to know how long it would take the German consulate to send me an interview invite if/when I applied for the German visa.

If your claim that 90% of all buildings in the area being affected is true, then it's probably got something to do with the underlying soil.

The area likely has expansive soil underneath.

If your own building is around the area, opinions from nairaland is good but not enough if you want concrete solution.

You will need a geotechnical engineer to probe the soil and find out what is actually happening underneath. Then design a suitable foundation for your building.

We are about roofing the building. Been quite busy, I look forward to updating this thread when I can.

Hi Immademan,

It's difficult to give an answer outrightly.
The first step is typically to prepare a building plan that meets your spec. There's so much features in the building you can't see which you may not want. These features vary the overall costs.

Then using the site ground condition (Benin has good bearing soil though) and the cost of construction materials and labor in Benin City, I can provide you with a detailed cost estimate for the plan of your choosing.

The soil in Benin City is relatively soft. Not soft in the sense of a wet clayey soil.

It's red, Sandy and well drained. Easily worked on.
