Sarcasm enclosed in psychological retorts have always been my go-to toolbox. Everybody knows that sarcasm is a double edged sword. It is a very potent weapon difficult to defend against because it is like "an iron hand in a velvet glove". You attack a person's submission indirectly while the true intent of your retort is glaring and you give him the horror of having his insecurity hammer your deft missiles into noggins until he/she embodies it down to their very soul till they become ‘truth'.

If sarcasm is a missile, psychological satire is the launcher. Telling someone about him being depressed, unloved, hated, abused, feral etc attacks the core of congenital social development. Everyone, in one way or another, has at least one esteem or social issue. Attacking these essence like a cerebral assassin could push a brother with mental debility blowing his brains out like Kurt Cobain. Lol.

Haaaa! Edidem Bassey. Stories of this man held me in awe.

Anyone who attended FGC IK between 97-03 probably knew his daughters: Matilda and Ruth. Matilda was in my class. Good Lawd! If there was ever a scale of beauty for the African woman, these girls surpassed it. At 14, Matilda already had the looks and body that will make a preacher yell gaddamnnnnn. I don't even wish to know what they look like now, their impressionable beauty filled my teenage head and brought me panting into adulthood.

I had a funny experience at a buka joint in Agbor last week. I went into one eatery and ordered for food with fried beef. Food was served and I noticed the beef were quite big. I sank my teeth into one, started chewing and then I felt uneasy. The meat was leathery and the texture harder. I mean, I have been eating beef for close to three decades, and this one was just different. I accosted the waitress and she told me "bros, na donkey meat we dey sell here". Hahahaha. It wasn't as funny back then though.

What the Nigerian regulatory authorities (banking, port, boundary etc) should watch out for is the impending proliferation and obvious abuse by the system. Making this policy anything more than a short term measure will be disastrous to the economy.

Misterpaul:

I quite understand ur point. Ofcourse I'm not disputing the correctness of the term "venomous snake".

What I'm saying is that, it is still not totally wrong to use the term poisonous snake. If we consider the dictionary meaning of the word "poisonous" (i.e. capable of putting poison into another animal's body by BITING it)

You ar jst giving d word "poisonous" ur own personal definition to suit ur argument, check ur dictionary for a proper definition sir.

Science is not semantic. Science is not pedantic. Science is all about accuracy of terms. There is no middle ground in sciences especially in zoology where behaviours and attributes of organisms whether single celled or chordata, determine their classification. And if you go looking for science terms in mainstream or non-tech dictionaries then it's safe to say you are grossly misguided.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poison [pay attention to the terminology section]

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venom [pay attention to the snake section]

www.reptilegardens.com/reptiles/snakes/venomous/ [pay attention to the concept of venomous]

www.hubpages.com/animals/What-is-snake-venom-poison [pay attention to venomous vs poisonous]

Etc Etc Etc.

Lots of technical materials abound online for your perusal. Peer reviewed zoological journals do not accept snakes as poisonous but venomous because poison is a simple subset of venom and the mode of delivery is what matters and is paramount.

I no longer wish to continue this discourse. It is now exhaustive. Thank you.

I don't think it is wrong to use the word "poisonous" if we consider the dictionary meaning of the word.

Venom as we know is a poison when it hit d blood stream. And any snake that produces these poison can be referred. to as a poisonous snake.

They are interrelated but they are not the same. See it like this: A venom is a toxin and a poison but a poison is a toxin but not a venom. If I get bitten by a snake and poison is injected into me, then it means I got bitten by a venomous snake.

It should be clearer this way: We have many poisonous species of toads, frogs, fish that contain poison glands. Touching any of these animals alone is poisonous.

Now, we also have certain species of insects, snakes, spiders that contain venom. If I touch any of these species, are they poisonous? No. Why? Because they are venomous animals and they have to inject their poison through bites or stings.

The next time you are in doubt, use this reasoning:
* If poison is transferred thru touch, it is poisonous.
* If poison is transferred thru bite or sting, it is venomous.

Using that logic, is a scorpion poisonous or venomous? A scorpion is venomous and you know why.

OP, while the intent of your thread is well appreciated, technically, there is no such thing as poisonous snakes. Rather, we have venomous snakes.

Poisonous refers to an object that is toxic if you touch it or eat it but venomous refers to an object that injects toxin to subdue or in self-defence.

The delivery system is what tells them apart.

I noticed the high number of Phd holders and Profs in the Chemistry dept. The three chemistry courses I took (Physical, Organic and Inorganic) had at least three Phd holders as lecturers for each course, sprinkled with Profs. Why the large numbers?

In my dept of Computer Science, there were only four.

Night classes especially when exams are around the corner are where you see funny lots. One I can't forget was when this dude walked in with quite a big bag filled with books. He took out a plastic bottle of water and emptied like 2 satchets of Nescafe into it. He gulped it down and proceeded to read. About 30minutes later, i saw my guy's head on the table, sleeping. He stayed that way till the next day. Hahahaha. Just negodu.

You are going through an epiphany. It is an immutability of life. Yours is in education, others have it in family, business, love etc. You have embodied your disappointment down to your very soul and this is the psychic fuel that generates the anger endemic in your appraisal. Suicidal ideation arises from the systematic disintegration of psychical processes. You have willingly subordinated your mental strength to unresolved self conflict. You are overwhelmed. You need help and you made a great step by opening this thread.

I believe there is free counselling at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Yaba. Failure, whether temporal or permanent, is not the end of the world but killing yourself is surely the end of your world.

You like the attention but you expect men to look at you responsibly? Do you realise that this is unequivalent? You are a walking provocation deliberately assaulting the equanimity of men. Whatever the feelings of puritan prudes, the stark reality is that you are at best, inadvertently exercising the female power of erotic incitement. The aim of all that extra flesh is to bewitch the senses of the onlookers, to dull their reason, to induce in them beliefs which the sober mind would dismiss, to portray your body as a tool of desire.

You evoke all these in weak and enervated males but you expect them to look at you responsibly? Quit the double standard.

You fancy contracts over human lives?

For how long do you think your country will be immune to the oppression and turmoil she plants in sovereign nations? For how long before your country becomes a recipient, in grand scale, of her illegal and corrupt false flag operations to topple heads of independent countries? As long as the greenbacks trickle in, your government can always go on a customary snide commentary about unavoidable collateral damages, isn't it?

America will learn a lesson repeated through history, that occupation is not victory.

Your comment is basically from the vantage point of hindsight. The background story behind that sale is that Russia was in dire financial troubles and in need of funds to oil their war efforts, which was compounded by the view that some of that territory could be lost to the British in war efforts. It was chess not checkers- sell that snow desert to the Americans for millions and at the same time limit the march of British forces because of the presence of American interests nearby.

Beyond the fossil fuels, Alaska is almost a dead zone.

You know your thought process has been eroded by Broadway when you believe a man, no matter how highly trained, can and will concurrently take out 50 people with his fist.

The mechanics to pull off such a feat can not be humanly achieved.

And the dude who said the members of Seal Team 6 who took part in the Osama operation are all dead is not correct. The fifteen Seal members who died in the helicopter shot down in Afghanistan were of a different squadron of Seal. Seal Team 6 has five squadrons and the ones who died were of the gold squadron. Seal Team 6 has about 300 members.
