Police in Lagos have arrested two Chinese, Taolung Shen and Xu Jing Yau, for allegedly running of fake a tyre business worth over N5 billion. .

The police also sealed the warehouse where they had allegedly been cloning different sizes of tyre under such brand names as Powertrac, Aptany, Harmony, Duraturn, Bearway, City Tour, Winda, Glory, Chachland, City Grand, Grandsonte (Tyre Type) and Sunny (for tricycle) among others.

Many of the tyres arrived the country with tyres stuffed into one another, sometimes as much as five stuffed in one, and had been bent and ruptured on several portions and looking weak and slack.

But the Chinese adorned the tyre with new labels and shinning linings to create impression of being new and healthy. The Director-General (DG) and Chief Executive, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Osita Aboloma, described the tyres as dead on arrival.

According to him, allowing such consignments sale amounts to surreptitiously taking away the lives of millions of Nigerians. The DG said stuffing tyres through the long sea journey from China to Lagos had already compromised the quality, not to talk of the crude way the tyres were separated on arrival in Nigeria and the poor storage facility, without sufficient aeration, in the warehouse. .

He said: “You can see the amount of danger that these people are posing to our people and our economy, just because they want to make huge profit at the expense of the lives of Nigerians.”

Aboloma explained that a lot of illegal activities were ongoing on the premises of the company such as re-labelling, high level of stuffing of several tyres into one, tampering with expiry dates and staking the tyres in very adverse conditions.

He added: “It is a clear case of investing millions in illicit business in order to take away the lives of millions of Nigerians.” .

The DG showed tyres in the stock post-dated January as manufactured date but that were already in the country as at the time of the seizure, despite that it would take months for shipments from China to arrive Nigeria.

No patience, understanding or endurance to allow the man test the waters once in a while. I hope they settle their issues, but if they won’t, let them hurry with the divorce, so that single girls can make their moves on these guys. .

Before the women eat me raw, women are not allowed to cheat. The men are to love us, care for us, support us in everything and provide for us, while we do all these and more for them. .

Every smart woman will provide her man with condoms and lubrication and pray that the Holy Spirit guides them to use it on their side chicks, so they don’t bring infection home to us.”

I target rich widows, divorcees through social media - Serial fraudster arrested in V.I, Lagos

22-year-old secondary school dropout, Chinedu Iroko, who specialised in defrauding rich widows and divorcees through social media, has been arrested my the Victoria Island Police Station, after he defrauded a woman who reported to the police.

The police went on Facebook to become friends with Iroko. One of them acted as a widow and started chatting with Iroko until it got to the stage where he asked for money. He was asked to come for the money, when he got to the venue, he walked into the waiting arms of policemen.

During investigation, police discovered that Iroko goes by many names, including Frank, Odinaka, Fine boy and Stanley. The police said: “The suspect is a secondary school dropout, but he’s very skilled in the use of computer. He frequents Facebook and dating sites.

His modus operandi is to go on these social media sites where he takes on the identity of a wealthy Igbo widower living in the U.S.” Iroko said: “The women I target are usually divorcees and widows; these women are desperate to have companions. I target Igbo women so that I can communicate with them in Igbo. I’m can’t speak English language fluently”.

According to the police, the suspect would post pictures on Facebook and dating sites, claiming to be searching for a wife. He would go further to post pictures of expensive cars, houses, just to get attention of wealthy divorcees, and widows. The suspect had obtained over N5m from his victims.

Speaking further, Iroko said: “These women end up parting with the money, hoping that I would repay them. But after collecting the money, I block their phone numbers from calling me. I don’t feel I have done anything wrong because I need money to survive”.

Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga was on Thursday filled with love as 200 couples, in their different ages, stormed the church to initiate them into Holy Matrimony, in a wedding themed 77 Days of Glory(77 DOGs).

The 200 brides rode on the back of five decorated flat-bed Mercedes Benz trailers to the venue, with their respective grooms.

The pastor of the church, Robert Kayanja, thought that because it was a mass wedding, it would be reasonable to transport the brides en masse.

The latest announcement from MMM Nigeria was released on Wednesday, February 22.

Participants are already saying the message is a confirmation that the MMM admin has been listening to their complaints and suggestions.

The new message reads:

“You constantly reproach us stating we don’t listen to your opinions however we really do. We try to carry out the most reasonable and efficient suggestions immediately.

Particularly, in accordance with your suggestions, we will soon take the following measures:
We will stop the growth of confirmed Mavros acquired before the 1st of January 2017.

We will freeze the bonuses received before the 1st of January 2017 (so that limited withdrawal of Mavro-2016 will include only contributions, not bonuses).

We will introduce a new rule according to which the withdrawal amount cannot exceed triple amount of the provided help (so, GH cannot exceed PH more than in 3 times).

Many participants and guiders withdraw bonuses in such big amounts without PH that it threatens the stability of the whole System. (We don’t agree, however we will accept preferences of the majority. With this rule, you can’t withdraw only bonuses without providing help.

Therefore, keep on sending us your suggestions. We will take them into account (At least, we will try).”

Some participants are happy about the new strategy while some others think it is not the best decision. Since its return on January 13, MMM Nigeria has been struggling to gain the confidence of participants who are yet to get back the money they invested in the scheme before it went on one month break in December. Some have lost hope of ever getting their money back while others are still optimistic things will get back to normal.

Some people have killed themselves because they borrowed the money they invested in the money doubling scheme and now it looks like they will not be getting it back.

Recently, a young man, simply known as Adakole, who was about to wed last December drank insecticide following the alleged crash of Ponzi scheme. He passed on Monday evening, February 20, around Kubwa in Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

A Gudu Upper Area Court in FCT on Wednesday remanded a 35-year-old teacher, Modibo Akin, in prison for alleged rape of a pupil in the toilet.

The Upper Area Court judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, remanded the defendant till March 6 pending conclusion of investigations and consideration of bail.

Akin of Destiny Light International School, Jikwoyi in FCT is facing a one-count charge of rape, which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Mr Daniel Chuks, told the court that Roseline Ubeka of Jikwoyi phase I reported the matter at Jikwoyi Police Station on Jan 28.

Chuks said that the defendant was a teacher and also a home lesson teacher for the complainant’s daughter.
He alleged that on Jan. 26 and Jan. 27, the defendant “inserted his penis’’ into the eight-year -old girl’s private part.

The prosecutor said that on these dates, the defendant “had unlawful carnal knowledge of her in the school toilet and also had sex with her in the sitting room during lessons.’’

Chuks said that “his sperm was found spilt on a rag and he threatened her with death if she told anybody.’’
He also said that during police investigations, “the sperm smeared rag was recovered from her parent’s sitting room.

He said the offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code.

With the economic crisis in the country hitting businesses hard, telecommunication firms in Nigeria are opting for drastic measures to boost revenue. .

According to Punchng, they are hoping to address concerns over revenue loss from international calls and hit a revenue target of N20tn by blocking subscribers from accessing Skype and other Over-the-Top services. .

It was reliably gathered that subscribers might also be prevented from performing certain functions like voice and video calls on WhatsApp and Facebook, among other OTT services. .

A manager at one of the major telecos in the country, speaking under anonymity, said about the blocking: “It is an aggressive approach to stop further revenue loss to OTT players on international calls, having already lost about N100tn between 2012 and 2017.

If we fail to be pro-active by taking cogent steps now, then there are indications that we may lose between N20tn and N30tn, or so, by the end of 2018.” .

The source added that the increasing rise of the OTT players, who provide voice and Short Message Services, or apps such as WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook, BlackBerry Messenger and Viber, was eating deep into the voice revenue of telecommunications companies in the country by more than 50%.

A Nigerian drug smuggler was arrested by the Himachal Pradesh Police with 1550 grams of heroin, on Monday, February 13th, following a confession from one of his dealers. The suspect identified as Okey Chikoo Mathew was arrested from Nawada, under the Uttam Nagar police station in Delhi from a private house. Parveen, who worked for him was arrested by Delhi Police patrol team last week in Kullu.
"Parveen was arrested with 15 grams of heroin in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. During the investigation, Parveen disclosed that he is working for some Nigerian national (Okey Chikoo Mathew) who supplies drug to Himachal Pradesh." the police said.
The Superintendent of Police in Kullu District – Padam Chand said that on his tip, our team visited the Delhi and arrested Mathew with 1550 grams of heroin (approx Rs 4 crore). Mathew was also arrested in 2014 in Manali with 20 grams of heroin and was later released in 2015 after trail.

The police officer said that we seized the drug from Mathew of worth Rs. 4 crore. This Nigerian man – Mathew was also arrested in 2014 in Manali with 20 gms heroin. The case has been registered under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

There has been so much nudity and sexual content on Big Brother Naija, but for some reason, housemates who have indulged have all lost.

This observation came into prominence after the eviction of three housemates who entertained viewers with the kind of content Nigerians are supposedly interested in.

It’s four weeks into the Big Brother Naija show and while Nigerians have and are still enjoying the sexual escapades that happen in the house, they have not hesitated to vote out the housemates involved.

These evictions prove that several other factors influence a housemate’s popularity and win, and going nude or having lots of sexual moments are no longer determining factors.
Factors such as persona and sentiments have influenced viewers decisions in the past two Live Evictions.

Considering Nigerians and their record of saving housemates who provide them with sexually explicit drama, it was shocking that they chose the rather gentle Efe to Soma and Miyonse.

On Sunday, February 12, 2017, Nigerians saved Debbie-Rise (a talented housemate who is more focused on her music than on being dramatic) instead of CocoIce who had bared her breast on Live Television while her fellow housemate Bassey feasted on it.

CocoIce was up for eviction alongside the dramatic Bisola and Gifty, and the boring Bassey and Debbie-Rise.
Anyone would have expected CocoIce’s breasts to save her, afterall, she had shown Nigerians her willingness to do anything on the show.

Defenders of the sexual content on Big Brother Naija claim it is a form of entertainment. But, when it comes to the weekly voting, the results so far have proven that the viewers are not influenced by that kind of ‘entertainment.’

A week after Soma and Miyonse’s eviction, BBNaija didn’t trend on social media. Nobody was kissing, cuddling, breaking up or engaging in pre-intimacy. The remaining housemates were more of people who were reserved and not bold enough to make such explicit moves, thus the boring social media moments during the week.

The show only comes alive during Saturday house parties, when housemates get drunk, bare their boobs, cuddle up and participate in kissing festivals.

Without its sexual content, Big Brother Naija doesn’t trend on social media. However, while Nigerians relish those explicit moments, it hasn’t been the salvation of any housemate so far on the show.

Following the eviction of Soma, Miyonse and Cocoice, Biggie decided to introduce two fake housemates, Ese and Jon, to galvanize the game in Big Brother Naija house.

Gifty, who has been ‘entertaining’ is currently up for eviction, viewers would have to wait until Sunday to find out if her accent, kissing spree, and relationships will save her.

Former governor of Lagos state and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said only people that are crazy will say he was not with President Muhammadu Buhari in London.

In a statement on Monday, Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, said mischief makers were behind the news that he did not visit the President.

The statement, signed by his spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, said Tinubu was in London with the former Interim National Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, to visit Buhari and that they met the President at the Abuja House.

The statement reads:

“The report about the so-called denial of the visit is the handiwork of mischief- makers.

I felt we should not dignify that with a response. That report beggars belief.

“Asiwaju Tinubu and Baba Akande were in London.

The reason they travelled to the United Kingdom was to see President Buhari.

“And they visited him last Thursday and held discussions with him at the Abuja House in London.

“After the visit, the President, as a mark of respect, saw off his guests to the door.

“Pictures were taken during and after the visit and released to the media by The Presidency.

In a similar vein, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state, has affirmed that he visited President Muhammadu Buhari in London.

The President is said to be in London, receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

There have been controversy over a picture showing Amosun and the president in the United Kingdom, amid allegations an old image was edited to make it look recent.

However, on Monday at an event at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Amosun told journalists that he indeed visited the president in London.
